Shimmer, I know how you feel - me and the 2 DDs have colds and it's not much fun being woken up for feeds every two hours in the night with a cold!

My milk has come in now so I'm a bt hurty too and all the coughing/sneezing/nose blowing is taking its toll on my poor aching tummy muscles - I can't wait to get over this cold! The girls have gone to preschool today but I won't be surprised if they have to come home early, they're still coughing and tired too. In the meantime though, I'm off back to bed

No word from Scorps for a while, d'you think something's happening early?

GoldenSnitch · 09/12/2009 09:27

Oops, just found out that DH's 2 Christmas meals (He's a team leader so gets a "management" one and one with his team) are on the 17th and 18th of December!!

He never goes to the evening party as he works an hour away from home and has to stay late after work to go because it's not worth coming home and going back again and then has to book a hotel or drive home so it's not really worth it going.

Ah well, He's getting a daughter, that should make up for it

Hope you feel better soon Moosy and Shimmer

Mybox · 09/12/2009 09:41

Madmissey - I had some days of panic about the thought of labour - even though it's always been quick. But once I was giving birth all worries went away and I just got on with the job - no choice really lol. So beforehand I was worried, during I just thought I have to get through this and afterwards I thought I'd do it all again if I had to! Best wishes xxx

Milliemuffin · 09/12/2009 10:44

Morning ladies, hope you all got a better night sleep than I did.

I was woken at midnight by a very strong contraction and then had them every 7-9mins for 2.5hours but had all eased off by 4am and just a few random ones since. I still sent DP to work as no point us both sitting around.

Does anyone know if it's a sign or not? I'm guessing not but will still make sure I'm 100% prepared just incase. They were quite painful so I got a little excited that things were happening already and I didnt have to wait another 2-4wks (due on 27th but DS was 11dys early) but I'm looking on the positive side in that I get to spend another day chilling at home with DS.

Milliemuffin · 09/12/2009 12:16

I've just read some of your previous posts and realise it could mean absolutely nothing, oh well.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/12/2009 13:06

DS has his induction at Nursery school tomorrow. He'll be going for 4 mornings and 1 full day. He's only 3!! Im worried but his CM seems to think he'll settle really well, so I guess I dont have to worry too much about bonding time with the new baby, just hope DS doesnt feel pushed away.

Still having the lovely BH. Still nothing fucking happening!!

Im all happy because as I type my mother and sister are being busy bees cleaning the whole place for me, its great!!

1petshortofazoo · 09/12/2009 13:14

Just seen midwife, DS isnt even engaged and I'm now measuring over the 90th centile...
Due to have a scan and see consultant next thursday so I am hoping they will book me in for induction before 22nd/23rd as I cant see them wanting to book me in for boxing day, I hope.

Anybody know if tesco/asda do raspberry leaf tea as going into the town centre is really not appealing at the min

need to get back to bouncing on the birthing ball

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 09/12/2009 13:34

Hi Millie - I've had 3 full on false labours now I think, with contractions for hours that have then stopped. But a friend who works for NCT says every contraction makes a difference, whether it's in labour or not, softening the cervix, so take comfort from that!

I am now 4/5 engaged, and having tweaks all the time but still nothing - CS is booked for Tuesday so it's looking pretty likely now, although DH is going for Friday and the midwife said Saturday. Think they're just trying to keep me positive. I would so like to try for a VBAC if possible, but like everyone else it doesn't really matter as long as baby is ok.

It's amazing that there haven't been any CSs on our thread yet - that's right isn't it? When I had DS I think nearly everyone ended up with CSs.

Mybox · 09/12/2009 14:55

Millie - the week before I had dd I had nights when I could sleep because of bh contractions. Hope your bag is packed!!

kirriemummy · 09/12/2009 15:05

Hi everyone I'm totally new to this but sick of sitting round the housegoing driving myself crazy with every twinge! I'm due 21 Dec, but desperately hoping to go before then - you never know! Anyway hope everyone else is doing well.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/12/2009 15:15

Welcome kirriemummy, you've come to the right place for joining likeminded mums in wanting these bloody babys out now!! You can probably even hear me bouncing away on birthing ball slurping rasberry leaf tea whilst typing away at the laptop.

I will also take comfort in what your friend from NCT says about every contraction making a difference fedup because Ive been having some real beauties.

1pet I had a look in ASDA for rasberry leaf and my one didnt do it, I ended up having to go to Holland and Barrett.

madmissy · 09/12/2009 15:58

Welcome over kirriemummy!

Had long walk today lots of period pain cramping and fakey contractions but as long as cervix getting shorter I am happy! Means a quicker induction on Tuesday! haha

Mybox I'm sure I will be fine after all done it twice already, I actually quite enjoy labour its just that transition bit that gets me!
How's dd doing anyway?

Getting my birth ball out the garden today and will clean it up in bath lol get bouncing

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/12/2009 16:00

Just realised my nickname is quite apt right now...

covycrump · 09/12/2009 16:19

Well if everyone else is doing it, I'm going to get on my ball too - it's a nice idea that lots of December dues will all bouncing away in unison. I'm also trying to finish a little knitted cardigan for the Crumpet, so will try to avoid stabbing myself too badly; this could end in tears.

sparklycheerymummy · 09/12/2009 16:25

hi..... was in for observations today and it was gorgeous..... had to press the button every time it moved..... all is tickety boo. It seems nothing i have tried has worked but baby is happy and moving well. sex, curry, pineapple, raspberry dishwater, speed bumps, hot baths, exercise, hula hooping..... its all plop i think. My cervix is nice and soft and i am hopeful that they will just pop waters...... have heard the gel hurts but then others say it doesnt, The 2 sweeps I have had have not worked but fingers crossed for action tomorrow. Babes heartbeat did not go above 140 so i think it is def a boy! but i could be wrong.... hopefully this time tomorrow there will be another baby in the world. Wont be on here for a few days as babe has to be observed for 48 hours after delivery cos of Strep B. AT least this way I know I will be straight on anti bs and baby is unlikely to need them..... also can get dd organised without any panic. Feel much happier about it all...... though had awful row with dp last night..... think we were both frustrated but hearing babes heartbeat and watching the monitor put our silly row in perspective!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 09/12/2009 16:26

ha ha.... i tried my ball but it hasnt done much but was at least quite comfy!!!

Moosy · 09/12/2009 16:47

Sparkly, the only thing not on your list is nipple twiddling. It worked for me this time and with DD2, get your DH to do it (preferably with his mouth!) and don't let him hold back!

Good luck!

Reckon that either Scorps has lost her internet connection or has had her dd.

GoldenSnitch · 09/12/2009 17:08

Fingers crossed for Scorps.

We've got quite a few ladies overdue now too.

One day gone and no-one's rung me to cancel my section yet 7 days to go, no 6 cause they don't work on Fridays. They wouldn't book over weekend either right? So maybe it's 4!!! Oooh, it's so hard not to get excited. Can't though else I'll be even more gutted if they do call

Freezer food cooked/bought (my DH is no chef! - good job Dominos only shuts for Christmas day!), Christmas cake now iced too, just hospital bag to pack. I feel like I don't want to be too ready else it'll jinx it...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 09/12/2009 17:13

The only thing ive not tried is nipple twiddling. I just cant bring myself to do it. I hate my nipples being touched, especially the left one, would it work if I just did the right one? Such a bizarre question... Im so strange lol.

Moosy · 09/12/2009 18:16

ABF, I normally hate it too, especially as lefty is normally a bit of an inny sometimes (although that's now fixed thanks to the Avent thingy!) but I overcame my horrors for the sake of getting those babies OUT!

kirriemummy · 09/12/2009 18:55

Thanks everyone! I'm also attempting to type and bounce (not easy) and drinking raspberry leaf tea, which I am starting to believe is a scam perpetrated by herbalists badly affected by the credit crunch - doesnt taste of raspberries and doesnt appear to be doing anything for my cervix! However it is good to know that my first baby has her dad's stubborn streak and my ability to be late for everything.... I have to say I havent gone as far as nipple twiddling either though - I'm not quite sure I can bring myself to that, but give me another 24 hours and I may cave!

madmissy · 09/12/2009 19:07

PMSL at the left nipple!
well my ball is out and all clean and sooo comfy!

hope there is news from scorps soon im so impatient and need to know either way!

snitch how organised!? mind you i did start xmas shopping online last night

anyone elses bump sore at the top ouch

cramping gone but sure it was doing something got some pains earlier that had me stop and double over buggy.

Moosy · 09/12/2009 19:13

Kirrie, as far as I know RLT doesn't help start labour, it helps tone your uterus to make the second stage more effective. I think.

madmissy · 09/12/2009 19:19

yep thats right moosy i need more than that to tone mine!
