Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

laugs my waters broke after 18hrs of contractions and I delivered 5hrs after that... But this is baby no 2 for you isn't it?

How long is the exam? If no contractions at all I'd be tempted to leave DH for now, if it comes to it could he meet you at the hospital and someone else help you there?

sassmonkey · 03/12/2009 10:13

laugs how exciting for you! Great news. I know nothing as this is my first, but as long as the waters are clear, I would be tempted to leave DH to finish off as well, then get him to whistle home.

My parents arrive from Canada tomorrow - no baby to show them! I think they want to be here for labour, but I've explained DH and I want to be just by ourselves for that and they are welcome to pop by the hospital afterwards. Possibly selfish, but too bad. Trouble is where to store the parents while the birth is happening. If it it ever does...

Anyway, I shall soothe myself by making pumpkin soup while I contemplate that.

Anyone else still in the 'nothing happening' camp??

skorpion · 03/12/2009 10:13

laugs how exciting! Don't be scared, stay calm. Phone the hospital and see what they say. Do you have family / friends around that could help in the first instance and get DH straight to the hospital after the exam?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. xxx

grace09 · 03/12/2009 10:14

eek!! Laugs how exciting!! You've cheered me up after a horrendous night of being so uncomfy. Poor hubby woke up to me crying my eyes out "i can't do this anymore"!!!

Anyhow my sister's waters broke about 2-3 hours before contractions started and even then contractions were managable. Maybe phone the hospital - they might not need you to come in till contractions start which might give hubby time for exam - how long is his exam?

Laugs · 03/12/2009 10:14

Thanks Claire. The exam finishes at 12.30 so I've decided to leave it until he gets out if I can. Have to go into the hospital now to be assessed, so at least that gives me something to do while waiting for him. Wandering around in a bit of a daze trying to finish packing my bag (this is why everyone else is so organised )

Hope the feeding's going well and hopefully I'll have some news soon - but not too soon! x

Laugs · 03/12/2009 10:16

Oops cross-posted with loads of you! Have to go but will try and come on later.

skorpion · 03/12/2009 10:17

I'm here, sassmonkey. I guess that blows the full moon theory

Where are they staying, a hotel or yours? Can you book them in somewhere nearby?

It is difficult, isn't it? My mum can only come at weekends but I want it to be just us when we bring the baby home the first time so will have to refuse her.

skorpion · 03/12/2009 10:20

Well, we'll have to refuse her if it is the weekend, of course.

scarlotti · 03/12/2009 10:37

Ooh Laugs how exciting! With DD my waters broke 5 hours before any contractions started so you may have time. Wishing you a not too speedy labour until about 1:30pm then a speedy delivery!

ursigurke · 03/12/2009 10:58

Laugs, good luck! I hope you'll be fine until your husband finished his exam and then a nice and quick labour!

longwayaway · 03/12/2009 11:27

Good luck Laugs!

skorpion and sass I'm sure it'll be tough to refuse your mom/parents access at first but I would do the same... It's been so lovely just the three of us at home this last week and I'm (sorry mom) really glad our family can't visit until later this month. Even the few friends we had over in the first week were pretty draining. (Apart from one friend who's a mum and knew to bring food and had lots of great advice!)

Pregnancy does end. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and a really cute baby, and you will forget about all the pains and indignities of being full term SOON.

sending good labor vibes to you all...

Link to postnatal thread is here.

sass, I agree with the hotel idea? I think your parents will understand. And I don't know what kind of relationship you have with them but do you really think they want to be there in labour? I think my dad wouldn't want that at all. My parents had booked a flight just a couple of days after the due date so it was a bit risky as my mum can also just stay for weekends. Luckily I delivered on time.
skorpion, does your mum live in England? Has she already planned/booked for this weekend? Or does she just come as soon as the baby is born?
I was happy that we had a couple of days on our own but actually it was quite nice to have my parents here even if it was just from day 4 to 6.
But they stayed in a hotel nearby, came quickly for dinner in the evening, then the next day they even left for a couple of hours to let me rest and came back on day 6 to say good bye (1 hour earlier than expected... my mum didn't change the time of her watch so I guess it was an "accident" by a loving grandmother's heart)
They brought lots of food and helped with cooking and cleaning, so we had a very relaxed weekend.

Ninjacat · 03/12/2009 12:46

Lots of love to you Lugs. Best of luck.

11 days over today.

So are we four now?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 03/12/2009 12:48

laugs oh, I hope you have managed to keep labour at bay til Dh finished his exam - now that is testing the law of sod to the max! I am expecting, with this being your second, you might not be back on today to give us an update as you might be on your way to having the baby right now. I hope you time it perfectly that Dh gets there in time to reassure you is there, and then off you go to have your baby...very excited for you.

Good luck xx

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 03/12/2009 12:50

4? not many to go...are we taking bets as to who will be standing last? should we have a prize? .

I promise to keep checking in with you ladies until you are all safely on the other side of the door and then we can lock up and have a celebratory drink in the other 'bar'

helips · 03/12/2009 13:11

Good luck laugs and to everyone else still waiting. Hope the full moon theory works and you all pop your babies out tonight ready to join us on the post natal thread tomorrow!

skorpion · 03/12/2009 14:36

ursigurke yes, my mum lives in England now and works Mon - Fri, so she has free weekends to visit. She's going to Poland on the 20th for Christmas though, so it only leaves two weekends to play with.

Thanks, ladies for the positive vibes. Graduation day surely approaching fast.

ninja have you tried any of your suggestions? I've decided to go with the flow for now. And ignore all the 'have you had it yet?' e-mails and calls. Breathe in........ and out.......

Trikken · 03/12/2009 14:38

hoping things are going well for laugs, has there been any news from Raggie yet?

Laugs · 03/12/2009 14:53

I'm back. Had a few hours in the assessment unit, but still not contracting (well, only mild ones) so they've sent me home. I'll have to go in tomorrow to be induced if I don't go into labour first.

Off for a lie down. Hope everyone's ok today

Ninjacat · 03/12/2009 16:01

Just had bloody show and painful contractions!!!!!

There is hope.

Skorpion don't know if it was the sex or the clary sage or both together but if things pick up I'll keep you informed.

Ninjacat · 03/12/2009 16:04

and anouther one. IT HURTS

skorpion · 03/12/2009 16:27

ninja have you got a TENS? Remember, it's means to an end. Good luck, sounds like this is it for you.

laugs catch up on rest. They usually give 24 hrs after the waters break for the labour to start naturally. Hopefully the induction won't be necessary.

Thinking of you both.

Oh, no. Does this mean I'll be left talking to myself around here...??

ursigurke · 03/12/2009 16:41

ninja pain sounds great!!! good luck

Laugs · 03/12/2009 17:59

Yay, go ninja. I really hope this is it

I've had a few irregular contractions. I cannot believe how much fluid there is It just keeps coming. I've had a little sleep and my parents are up to help mind DD, so just waiting for something to happen now.

I hope the rest of you are all doing ok too

Ninjacat · 03/12/2009 18:14

Contractions are coming and going but a bit irregular. Not Braxton Hicks though.

How much blood is ok to loose?
