Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

OP posts:
Laugs · 02/12/2009 13:44

Oh god, Skorpion, do you think it could be only us two left waiting...?

Or, perhaps, that the others have found something better to do with their time (surely not)

skorpion · 02/12/2009 13:50

Just promise me you're not going to get all competitive on me

skorpion · 02/12/2009 14:39

People keep calling me predicting when she'll come. Oh, the 4th, no, the 8th. Aaarrgghhh... Leave me alone!

grace09 · 02/12/2009 15:56

I'm still here (waves). Feeling miserable though. Heartburn has decided to make a magnificant return so that kept me up most of the night. Eventually got up at 5 and came downstairs and watched a film, went back to bed and didn't wake up till 12!!! Not slept that late since i was a student! Anyway heartburn is still here and gaviscon doesn't seem to be touching it. Right time to stop moaning!!

Skorpion - i'm constantly getting these predictions too. I feel quite guilty as i'm so 'whatever' about it now. Everyone else is so excited but i just feel like it's been such an anticlimax and this baby is destined to have to be induced in a week and a half.

claire well done on persevering with the bf - don't know if i could do it. Sounds like you're getting there though so keep going.

Good luck raggie - can't wait to hear your baby news!

I'm having some reflexology tonight so try and get things moving so will see what happens. Really not holding out much hope though. Need to start thinking more positively. Here i am moaning again sorry!!

Laugs · 02/12/2009 16:17

Ooh grace you'll have to tell us what pressure points they use. I've never had reflexology but it's supposed to be very effective. Ask if they can do anything for heartburn too!

You can tell I work from home and am quite conversation-starved as I'm feeling a bit touched by random people locally (ie shop keepers, doctor's receptionist) remembering I am overdue and giving me all their decidedly dodgy tips to induce labour. DH on the other hand is going mad that every day, every person in his office asks if the baby's been born yet.

I wonder what the stats are for the likelihood of needing induction? Surely it's quite unlikely (she hopes...)

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/12/2009 16:40

If you're still here when a 'due November 2010' thread appears then you know you really are overdue

Seriously though, it'll be over soon, and you'll be all on the postnatal thread with the rest of us discussing feeding, sleep, slings, sibling issues, DH reality check issues, sore nipples, etc.

Ninjacat · 02/12/2009 16:41

Well I'm still with you as well.

Spent most of the day in day assessment unit. Another abandoned sweep because cervix is still high and closed.

Baby is off the scale in size but have managed to persuade them to hold off induction until Sunday when I will be 14 days over (they like to do it at 12 days over).

Have monitoring on Friday and Saturday and been told it could take two days to get me into labour.

According to the leaflet they gave me today 1 in 5 pgs end in induction.

Have also had curry for lunch (which has set off my heartburn). May take drastic action soon to get this baby moving. Wonder if dp would be up for sex for supper and a blowjob for breakfast? - sorry I really am desperate

claired21 · 02/12/2009 16:45

So 3 accounted for, 3 missing in action then?? A consoling thought for you, today is a full moon! Has anyone considered belly dancing under the full moon??

The feeding seems to have just fallen into place. Ethan had lost 11.5% of his weight in 72hrs so we're in hospital until tomorrow at least but I'm hopeful that his weight will be going in the right direction and we can get home tomorrow. Such a lovely thought!

skorpion · 02/12/2009 16:45

I'm not sure what else to try to be honest. I think I heard that you'd have to eat a truckload of pineapple for it to have any effect. Tried nipple-thing, tried curry, bounced and hoola-d on my ball, did some walking and did a stern talk to the bump.

May have to try some bedroom fun, but just feel as far from being in the mood as possible.

I'd be happy to hear any other tips. Somebody mentioned clary sage oil. What are we supposed to do with it?

I'm hoping induction will not come into play at all. I have an appt at the midwife unit on Sunday to do a stretch and sweep and then we'll see.

sassmonkey · 02/12/2009 16:47

I'm still here, still making Christmas decorations and pretending there's nothing happening that could possibly be making me impatient...

My friend who's been my 'pregnancy buddy' (due 10 days before me) had hers today - a wee boy. Her DHs text message said the babie's "first act was an improbably cute sneeze." I burst into tears, happiness for them, and excitement for us. OKAY! Ready for my own little sneezing wonder now!

Booked for acupuncture on Monday, sweep on Tuesday, will try some accupressure points tonight as well as a walk. But I. Just. Don't. Think. This. Kid. Is. Even. Contemplating. An. Exit. Yet.

Ah well. Better put Love Actually on again...one more time. Followed by Cranford. Again.

No word from Raggie - I hope she's with babe in arms.

skorpion · 02/12/2009 16:50

ninja x-posted. I mentioned bj to DH ages ago, when I first heard it. It was good for a laugh but mercifully he's forgotten. I'm sure he'd be all too eager to oblige, but I'm not there yet as far as desperation goes

Never say never, though...

sassmonkey · 02/12/2009 16:50

Oops - baby's, apologies for the odd grammar.

skorpion, I think you can either burn the clary sage oil or put it in a bath. Good reminder, I'll try that tonight too. Will report back on any signs of success...

skorpion · 02/12/2009 16:59

A trip to health shop tomorrow then.

Congrats to your friend, sass - that is cute.

And thanks becky, you're absolutely right. Soon we'll all just marvell at how quickly things have gone. I suppose it's just hard to be the last few after all the flurry we had in the last couple of weeks. Again, just like popcorn, remember?

Ninjacat · 02/12/2009 17:09

Skorpion DP and I are soooo far from feeling frisky.

claired21 · 02/12/2009 17:11

Ok I'll edit my post. 5 accounted for, raggie missing in action.

Trying to think what I did on the day it all started... Had a shower, walked the dog, went out for lunch and had bruschetta and tag carb. Got a bus home and walked up the hill... Had a nap on sofa then contractions! Nothing really jumping out at me. Sorry guys.

skorpion · 02/12/2009 17:33

This is the thing, claire, nothing to let you know today's the day (btw that's lovely that you've turned a corner, well done ). So today could be the day. Or it couldn't.

There is actually a good thing about it too: DH works from home so we get to spend an awful lot of time together, which is very nice. Got into our little routines, a bit like an old couple, it's quite sweet and funny. I'm definitely making the most of that!

I'm hoping we're going to hear from raggie very soon.

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/12/2009 18:35

I do sympathise - I was 12 days late with DS1 and I was desperate by then. We tried pineapple, clarisage (rubbed on ankles every night), sex, more sex, long walks in the evenings, driving over speed bumps, we didn't try blow jobs though... The only thing that worked was going in to the hospital to be induced. He was born the evening before the induction. Apparently that is very, very common so even if you end up going in, it might still happen naturally. I'm sending you labour vibes now...

Laugs · 02/12/2009 19:29

Ha, I actually asked DH to have sex last night - admittedly not in a very seductive way, unless being growled at by a hormonal blob is your thing - and he said no. The cheek of it. I haven't told him about the blow job thing, might wait until I'm more desperate after that rejection.

1 in 5 are induced? That's not what I wanted to hear. Although a few people have told me it's not that bad, so I'll keep their comments in mind. DD was also born the day before induction and I'd heard what BBL did, that that's very common.

Hope you're not feeling too down Ninja. In a few days this whole pregnancy will be the last thing on your mind. That's when the fun begins! (does anyone else keep forgetting there's a real life baby coming, by the way? I keep thinking of the end of pregnancy, rather than the start of, well, forever more)

Where do you get clary sage from?

Ninjacat · 02/12/2009 20:10

The sort of place that sells essential oils for burning will sell Clarie Sage. You can add it to an oil (I have bio oil but could be olive oil) three drops rubbed into the bump is what I was told. Or three drops in milk than into the bath.
My friend gave me a bottle and dp hid it saying it was witch craft (odd boy) but today he brought it out of hiding so think he may be trying to avoid his duties!

sleeplessinthecity · 03/12/2009 07:16

Laugs your baby is so very comfy and doesn't want to come out! same goes for you Ninja..

I will try and will these babies out..as we all should positive mental vibes by all of us should work..

ps where is this Post Natal thread..???

BeckyBendyLegs · 03/12/2009 07:56

Postnatal thread is in 'being a parent' - we're all there! Waiting for you guys.

ursigurke · 03/12/2009 09:17

just sending you lots of good vibes!

Laugs · 03/12/2009 09:24

Oh, my waters have just broken.

This is completely new to me as I had to have them popped in labour last time.

Trying not to panic but DH has an exam starting in 10 mins, so I'm not sure whether to ring him (which would panic him)

No contractions, so I should have a while yet. Shouldn't I?

wook · 03/12/2009 09:36

oooooh Laugs fabby fab!

Laugs · 03/12/2009 09:38

I'm scared!
