Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

laugs I knw exactly what you mean about the heavy achy feeling at bedtime, I get it too. I'm starting to think I might be eating too late and it's food digesting (wind? ) now as it keeps happening and never leads ANYwhere.

Getting lots of backache too and compulsively thinking - is this like period pain?! - I can't remember as it's been so long!

sassmonkey · 29/11/2009 12:49

I'm still here too! Due date tomorrow, but nada happening as well. I'm getting more mentally ready for things (DH and I have been trying out the tens machine and the steriliser this morning, just in case bottles are required for some reason). Not feeling any undue pressure or anything down below. *sigh. I'm starting to wish I was, like the rest of you.

Congrats, Claire and katster, that's wonderful news! Hope you are basking in the joy of successful births. I look forward to joining you, and everyone else in that.

Going for a long walk today, if the naughty rain allows...

Trikken · 29/11/2009 15:12

hope something happens soon for all those waiting. every day waiting drove me more and more crazy.

Ninjacat · 29/11/2009 16:28

Congrats Claire

I'm afraid to say I am still here and now 41 wks.

Went to town to meet friends for coffee and generally get some exercise but despite feeling very uncomfortable nothing going on you could call labour (although I call every twinge labour so dp no longer believes me when I say I think this could be it)

Dp cooking roast dinner, ds at cinema, rain falling heavy from the sky.

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/11/2009 17:30

Just think that two weeks from now this thread will be empty and we'll all be on the postnatal thread together ... I know it seems to be going on for ever but it won't. Trust me.

raggie · 29/11/2009 17:36

Oh ninja what a desperately poetic line.

Here's my version:

DH working in the loft, PILs on the way to drop off the car 'in case we need it' (fat chance), rain falling heavy from the sky.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 29/11/2009 17:45

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

After 4 hours, (2 at home, 20 in the car, rest in hosp) gas and air, and baby Reuben was born into this world weighing 7lb 7oz!

Waters were broken and he arrived 19 mins later! I got my natural 3rd stage too.

Had to stay in for the night due to paperwork cockup but now home!

Shall catch up later with all the news xx

sassmonkey · 29/11/2009 17:45

I have just come back from a walk as well and nothing is shifting. How do I get this kid's head lower so it starts putting pressure on the ole cervix? I know walking is one way. Is bouncing on the birthing ball supposed to help as well? Anything else I can do? Does pushing the baby from the bum down help?

Trikken · 29/11/2009 17:46

congrats Pav! was hoping your silence from the thread was a good thing.

Trikken · 29/11/2009 17:50

also, love the name Reuben.

ursigurke · 29/11/2009 17:56

congratulation pavlov, I am so happy to hear that everything went finally so quickly! looking forward to hear details on the postnatal thread

tigger32 · 29/11/2009 18:11

WOW Congratulations to Kaster Claire and Pav and welcome your 3 little boys

Not long now for the rest of you, sending you all lots of labour vibes, see you on the other thread soon.

longwayaway · 29/11/2009 18:13

yay Pav! Sounds amazing!

Ninjacat · 29/11/2009 18:41

Big love Pavlov and baby Reuben

grace09 · 29/11/2009 19:10

Congratulations pavlov and welcome baby Reuben - what a beautiful name! I think i remember you having a really difficult pregnancy with the severe sickness? I'm sure it all seems worth it now with your wee baby in your arms .

Still nothing happening here. The odd braxton hick and that's it. Sass - i've been walking, dancing, bouncing on the ball to no avail! Cannot bear the sight of pineapple now or curries for that matter. Might be time to try the nookie again but so not in the mood and just so bloomin awkward and uncomfy! Any of you pros got any other ideas?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 29/11/2009 19:29

grace yes, v bad hg, and do you know what i had for breakfast? 5 slices of toast and jam .

And tonight, blue cheese and crusty bread (saint agur)

Laugs · 29/11/2009 19:42

Hooray! Congrats Pavlov and lovely baby Reuben! Brilliant news.

Despite my moaning this morning I've had a nice day. Made fish and crab puppets with DD, then we made up a dance with them to Under the Sea. Did lots of tidying and sorting around the flat so it finally feels we might be ready to bring a baby here. Reading a good book. As I type I'm just watching DH get the Wii Fit out - wonder how I'll fare??
Oh, and it's pouring with rain here too, but for the first time in about a year, we don't have a leaky roof, so that in itself feels quite luxurious!
All in all, a nice, cosy kind of day.

Hope everyone who's fed up is not in too much pain. Raggie I have to eat quite early cos of DD, so I don't think my achiness at night is because of that. I think maybe you just notice it more when you stop moving and relax?

Grace and Sass I am definitely not an expert, having gone 14 days over last time and with baby's head still not engaged (I don't think), but I think it's better to do a figure 8 or a circle with your hips on the ball rather than just bouncing. I find if I do a circling action with my hips while standing ie like belly dancing, it sets off massive braxton hicks straight away, so I think that might be a good thing. God I'm sick of curry too. And sex. Yuk.

Laugs · 29/11/2009 19:46

Mmm Saint Agur! I have a camembert waiting patiently for me. Will have it baked until it's all gooey with some French bread.

Trikken · 29/11/2009 19:49

Im not a soft-cheese lover but I had a huge pack of Pate waiting for me, It was a breakfast I will remember forever.

raggie · 29/11/2009 19:59

Yay! Congratulations Pav! So pleased for you and your family. Welcome Reuben! Xx

sassmonkey · 29/11/2009 20:00

Thanks for the tips, Grace and Laugs. I'm going to do that figure 8 business now, even if it does set off the Hicks. I haven't started on the curries yet, but tried the nookie and it wasn't that easy or enjoyable. Have opted not to pass on the fact/myth that prostaglandins are more effective when 'taken' orally...

So DH and I are sitting here making paper mache Christmas decorations in the absence of a baby to play with... Maybe if we have enough fun and make enough mess, the wee one will be inspired to leave its womb and join us!

hobnob57 · 29/11/2009 20:01

Congrats Katster & pav!!!!!!!

Hooray for babies, and patience vibes to those still waiting.

sass this baby didn't really engage to any great degree (4/5ths palpable most of the week before birth, only fully engaged by the time I was fully dilated) but I wonder if that was because she had the cord around her neck? Anyhow, I did lots of walking and ball bouncing and circles and 8's. I was driving myself nuts because I felt no pressure on my cervix like with DD1 and I felt that this was what was delaying labour. In the end, who knows? DD1 was induced after 14 days and may well have gone to 16 days even with her cervix-pushing.

there's a whole lot of 'what will be will be' about childbirth, isn't there?

sassmonkey · 29/11/2009 20:26

Congrats pavlov and welcome to Reuben! Great name. And enjoy that Saint Agur, I am keeling over with here.

Good point Hobnob, it is all a bit Ke Sera, isn't it? I guess doing things like bouncing is good if it helps us feel like we are doing something useful, even if it isn't actually changing a thing.

Laugs, I have just asked DH (with absolutely no hope of a yes) if he fancies going out to pick us up a round of camembert and stick of bread - and he said yes! That's my Sunday night made.
