Wow that arrivals list is looking amazing. Can't wait to be up there with you all.

DH has an exam this morning which he'd have to wait another year to sit if he hadn't done it today, so I guess it's a good thing I haven't popped yet. He's handing his phone in to the invigilator just in case I need to get hold of him in an emergency, but it's only 3 hours so I think we'll be fine! Plus, no sign of the baby coming soon anyway.

So I think I am looking forward to a December baby... so strange to think that Lemontop's Isaac was born way back in September!

Laugs · 30/11/2009 09:02

Thanks to Claire for the list too. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it! Ethan Andrew is a lovely name, hope all's going well

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 30/11/2009 09:11

Claire congratulations! Love the name Ethan! Welcome little one! And also to Katster and her new baby Sam another great name!

Reuben is fast asleep wiht both hands on his cheeks like a hamster. He has been aseep for 4 hours on and off...fed through the night every 1-2 hours !

I am thinking of all you lovely ladies still waiting.

Top tips:

Don't pay too much attention to the labour ward if they say 'stay at home for another 2 hours' or whatever. If your body is saying otherwise, make your own mind up and go in if you feel it is right. If we waited like they said, i would be likely to have given birth in the car on the way

Asking for more drugs is a great way to check how much longer you have to go if they say 'oh no, i think you are doing fine' if may well mean 'no time love' .

Use cheap Boots maternity pads or other heavy pads afterwards, it provides some muxh needed 'cushioning'

Remember your arnica tablets.

If you are breastfeeding, use lansinol straight away whether you need it or not.

BeckyBendyLegs · 30/11/2009 09:27

Yeah Pav congrats and lovely name Told you it wouldn't last forever!

raggie · 30/11/2009 10:35

Morning

Well I have had the night of the false starts, grrrrr!

Contractions about 10 mins apart from 7pm last night, all through the night to the wee hours, but then faded. Now just the remnants of backache. I thought she was going to be a punctual lady like her mama and come on EDD!

Sigh. Maybe mine's going to be a stop-start like katster.

The annoying thing was I said all the way through to myself and DH 'it could easily stop, it's probably not it'...but am still really disappointed now!

She'll come when she's ready.
She'll come when she's ready.
She'll come when she's ready.
She'll come when she's ready.
She'll come when she's ready.

Lovely to hear news of Reuben pav and thanks for the new list claire - I suppose I should add myself with you laugs to the bottom, sob!

Ooh raggie that still sounds promising though. It's all moving in the right direction. Maybe try and get out for a walk today to set them off again? Or some cleaning on hands and knees?

I haven't had a single contraction yet.

After enjoying yesterday's hiding-from-the-rain cosiness, I am now sick to death of being stuck indoors in this miserable weather.

DD wants to make aliens this morning. I want to send myself to the moon!

raggie · 30/11/2009 10:59

I know laugs - this weather is the PITS! When do we get the seasonal frost, snow and general sparkliness, hmm?!

My friend (with 2 children) has ordered me to bed - 'labour is exhausting' she says so off for a read of the paper and the cryptic crossword to take my mind off it all.

See you later I 'spect x

Laugs · 30/11/2009 11:15

Sounds like a good plan! I have bought myself the Woman's Weekly Puzzles magazine to give me something to do in the early stages of labour. I feel about 75.

Me too, hanging out in the waiting room. Not a sausage to indicate labour is imminent. Oooooo, I don't want induction. I'll begin my campaign of encouragement today, but like Raggie says - it will come when it's ready, it will come when it's ready...

Raggie - that does sound promising - definitely something starting to happen. Laugs i've not had a single contraction either. Weather is actually lovely here in Glasgow for a change so going to head out for a long walk to try and get things going. Sass - i'm really trying to avoid induction too as i'm using hypnobirthing which is apparantly much more difficult if you are induced.

Sending lots of positive labour vibes to you all!x

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 30/11/2009 12:49

raggie does sound promising, how horrid to have cx all night at 10 mins apart. I found 10 mins apart actually felt like they were right on top of each other...its a good job we were timing or else i would have sworn they were closer . Good luck!

Still here. Is this really it - just six of us left with ninja?

Congratulations pavlov! sounds like after all the pains of pregnancy and waiting you finally got the perfect happy end.

I'm keeping myself busy reading and watching 'When Harry Met Sally'.

Trikken · 30/11/2009 13:06

I was watching 'when Harry met Sally' last night, when trying to settle the baby. love that film.

Laugs · 30/11/2009 13:33

If ninja's still waiting that is...

Oh I love When Harry Met Sally. Definitely my favourite film when I'm feeling down in the dumps. Just thought I'd put it on but then remembered it's not really suitable viewing for DD.

So far we have made an alien, done some jigsaws, had a long chat to my mum on the phone, done a bit of drawing, played boats, watched CBeebies... and it's only 1.30! I really am rubbish at staying in all day... Making Christmas cards next I think.

Yes, I need to drag DH out for a walk later. Make the most of the sunshine.

I'm not very good at this staying at home larke either. Can't seem to stop feeling guilty at doing nothing.

Best enjoy it while I can. Officially joined the overdue club.

raggie thinking of you.

helips · 30/11/2009 14:24

Just realised I posted yesterday but for some reason it hasn't appeared, very strange! Anyway, just wanted to say congrats to Pavlov and Claire on your baby boys being born! Both great names too, pav if dd had been a boy we would have had Reuben as a middle name, was my Grandads name and it is fab! Also, was he born on the 28th? If so he shares my birthday too, a great day to be born

Good luck to everyone else still waiting, hope things go quickly for you all...

Ninjacat · 30/11/2009 15:04

Laugs I am indeed still waiting and it looks like I will continue to wait.

Went to mw this morning who sent me straight to day assessment.

Day assessment did trace and scan then failed sweep as cervix not even soft. Not engaged either.

Have to return to day assessment on Weds then book date for induction.

Will try to put off induction for as long as possible.

Good news was baby had moved a bit and not so back to back. Also very cute thumb sucking on scan.

DP thinks my overdueness is a manifestation of my over protectiveness. I just can't let go apparently!

I think baby just wants to be cuter for christmas.

sleeplessinthecity · 30/11/2009 16:31

Congrats Pav and Claire what lovely names!

lovely to hear good news...thinking of you all still expecting...

Having a diff time with DD2 she wants feeding every hour and has terrible reflux..its DD1 all over again. But thats babies!!!

take care and look forward to hearing from you all.

raggie · 30/11/2009 16:44

The final six!

I have had another day of backache and the odd twinge - some more painful ones now too but fully prepared to still be here tomorrow.

In a way, I kind of don't want to leave our little gang!

sassmonkey · 30/11/2009 18:10

We just did HOURS of shopping and nothing but a few foot nudges from the little one. No lowering, no BHs. I'm going to burn some clary sage tonight and start doing the pavlov - imagining breastfeeding and suckling. Trouble is - I have no idea what that feels like! DH has offered to help me by playing the role of the baby, but I'm just not convinced.

raggie - happy due date to us! And there it goes, with a Douglas Adams like whooshing sound...

Laugs · 30/11/2009 18:21

raggie it's like we're the last 6 in the X-Factor or something. Cling on to our places and aiming for the top spot... I definitely think the last to give birth should be crowned the winner
I know what you mean about leaving the gang. It seems a shame now that we're so good at being pregnant to move on to something new and unknown that we have to learn all over again.

I have spent at least an an hour and a half dancing today (with DD, then later with DD and my friend). I'm trying to show the baby how fun it is out here in the world.

sass mash your boob up so that you're sort of pummelling the whole dark area around the nipple... that sounds awful sorry - it's not bad, honest . I actually couldn't bear for DH to touch my boobs at the moment though.

grace09 · 30/11/2009 18:28

Just back from long walk and shopping and nothing happening here either except being desperate for the toilet every 5 minutes but that's nothing new.

Sass - i tried pavlovs trick this morning but same as you i found it difficult to imagine what it felt like. lol at the thought of your dh giving it a go!!

One positive for us all to bear in mind - a few people have said to me that have had late babies that their babies were very calm good babies!

Won't it be weird as we all start to pop - hope we all go very close together so no-one's left behind

Right - off for a chinese - maybe the MSG will get things going!

Laugs · 30/11/2009 19:09

sleepless sorry you're still feeding DD2 every hour- that must be really tough. Can't imagine how hard with a toddler to mind as well. Repeat 'it will pass, it will pass'

grace that might be true about late babies. DD was late and a very chilled out baby/child. My mum keeps warning me I'm in for a shock this time. I think she thinks I deserve a difficult child! huh.

scarlotti · 30/11/2009 19:18

Ah, sorry to hear you're all feeling frustrated with the waiting. I sympathise totally as remember it well.
One good thing about later babies though, they tend to be a good size which means bigger tummies, which means longer between feeds and so more sleep!!

Ok, so it's a tenuous silver lining but something to focus on maybe!
