Last chance for a Scorpio, after this weekend they'll all be Sagittarians!

Thanks Pav and laugs you're prob right..my boobs are massive but seems like they are filled with water!. MW says its to do with age, stress and having DD to look after.. Laugs doll didn't work and she is pretty certain that DD2 is going home soon. She gets upset when I breastfeed and makes up things like poopy nappies or that something hurts..Am hoping things improve!!

Looking forward to hearing your news..you must all be pretty fed up!

Hello ladies
Apologies for the silence, I have been overwhelmed! Sam Thomas was born on Tuesday night, very very speedily, at 11.35pm - we had been sent home at 9pm having been told I wasn't in active labour, so it all happened rather quickly - I don't think the midwife believe I was in as much pain as I said I was, she kept saying 'well, it's only going to get worse!' Then I went to the loo, she followed me and rang an alarm bell because she could see the head! And there had been meconium in the waters so we needed a paedeatrician. He is fine now after a bit of resuscitation which was horrid at the time, but is just adorable. Will catch up on people's posts later on, but really need to sleep x

grace09 · 28/11/2009 15:20

Ooh how exciting claire and pav!! Good luck and can't wait to hear your baby news!

Nothing happening here. Had a sweep on wednesday and had a bit of a show on and off since but nothing significant. Due date was yesterday so kept busy doing xmas shopping, got hair done and waxed! People kept asking me when i was due and the shock on their faces when i replied 'today' was hilarious. Really thought i'd go early but realising now that that was just wishful thinking.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/11/2009 15:50

Katster we knew you were busy good news!!!!

Laugs · 28/11/2009 16:31

Wow huge congratulations Katster and welcome to baby Sam. I bet he's beautiful and we've all been so excited to hear from you

Claire and Pavlov I hope your babies are on their way too! And, if not imminent, that you're managing to get a bit of rest.

What a quiet day on the November thread - there's definitely something going on. Not here though!

Laugs · 28/11/2009 16:36

sleepless Sorry to hear the doll idea didn't work. That's the only idea I have!
How old is your DD again? I can see how hard it must be for the older sibling, especially as breastfeeding takes so long in the early days. My mum has said she'll buy me a sling that I can wear to BF in, in the hope that I can still be involved with DD at the same time. Is that completely naive wishful thinking? I am thinking of getting the Close one.

scarlotti · 28/11/2009 16:45

kaster congratulations!!

sassmonkey trip out went well but am exhausted now!

Laugs I have the close sling and it's a lovely one, so easy to use and put on. Haven't tried feeding in it yet though.

sleepless another trick can be to have some toys that only get brought out when you're feeding, maybe something she can sit and do? Sticker book maybe or colouring. Hope she gets used to it all soon.

claire hope you manage to rest between contractions. I asked for pethidine to help me rest as I was so tired, it sort of worked but mainly relaxed me enough that my waters broke and active labour began!

Trikken · 28/11/2009 17:22

congratulations Katster!

helips · 28/11/2009 18:48

Congrats kaster on the arrival of baby Sam!

claired21 · 28/11/2009 19:17

Still labouring away. After arriving at the hospital everything calmed down and at 6pm I was having strong contractions but they were still five mins apart!! Asked to be examined as I was really struggling and expected to still be 1cm but up to 4cm by then. Thank goodness!

Have now had all paracetamol & cocodamol Im allowed in 24hrs so hoping to be moved to labour ward soon so I can have some gas & air. Only other options at the mo are pethidine or diamorphine. Also, if they still don't class me as in active labour by nine, DP will be sent home.

Can't wait for baby to arrive so I can have a wee sleep!!

ursigurke · 28/11/2009 20:58

Katster, congratulations! I guess you haven't had time to panic anymore . I hope you have lots of time now to enjoy your little family.
Good luck pav and claire, I hope you'll both have a busy night.

Laugs · 28/11/2009 20:58

Poor you claire. If it's any consolation it took me far far longer to go from 0cm-6cm last time than the next stage where she was born. Is it 5cm that counts as active labour? I'm thinking wide cervix/ pelvis thoughts for you and hope DP can stay! (hugs) x

longwayaway · 29/11/2009 00:27

Haven't been able to catch up but wanted to say congrats, katster! We were laboring at the same time

Congratulations Kaster! Glad you finally have baby Sam with you

Any news this morning Pav & Claire?

Typing one handed so no bold or anything, sorry!!

claired21 · 29/11/2009 09:55

Wasn't moved to labour ward as they have different targets for intervening apparently so they advised me to stay in antenatal ward.

I was 4-5cm at 9.30 pm and had diamorphine which allowed me to sleep for about 2hrs. Woke with strong contractions and waters going and was moved to labour suite within about half an hour and DP arrived back at hospital.

Was 9cm on first check at labour suite just after midnight. Once again, my contractions eased off so after what I think was 2hrs of pushing, they gave me a hormone drip to make sure my cx stayed regular. Had an epis & baby arrived on the next push at 4:32. DP was 'at the business end' in his words, very emotional indeed. I can only imagine what it must be like for our birthing partners!!

So our little guy arrived safe & sound, on his due date no less, weighing 7lbs14. We haven't decided on a name yet but will shortly. He is quite mucusy so doesn't have an appetite for feeding yet but hopefully that will come today.

Thanks to everyone on our thread for the support, laughs and helpful info during my pregnancy, I've been recommending mumsnet to all my pregnant friends but I know it was the people here who made our Nov thread so rewarding so thanks guys! (hormonal gushing over).

Hope those of you still waiting are coping well xx

grace09 · 29/11/2009 10:05

Awww Claire, that is just fantastic news!! Congratulations to you and new wee family!! So impressed you have managed to post while in labour and then so soon after!

Congratulations katster too and welcome to little Sam.

scarlotti · 29/11/2009 10:06

Congratulations Claire hope you manage to get some rest now whilst his desire to feed hasn't quite kicked in.

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/11/2009 10:13

Yeah Claire that is great news Congrats.

Laugs · 29/11/2009 11:07

Yay! Fantastic news Claire. Welcome to your little man! I hope you've managed to catch up on a tiny bit of sleep too.

Nothing happening with you either then Grace? I can't help but wonder if we are the only two left waiting... where are pavlov, ninjacat, skorpion, raggie...?

Getting very restless now. Was awake for 5 hours in the night - no pain or anything, just couldn't sleep. Grr.

Trikken · 29/11/2009 11:17

congratulations Claire! glad to hear he's arrived.

raggie · 29/11/2009 11:54

Here I am laugs!

Nothing doing, had dad and stepmum visiting yesterday so didn't get to laptop. Spent an afternoon walking round Oxford and had spicy tapas for dinner but no signs!

Very very happy (and ) for you katster and claire, well done! Love the name Sam that was top of our list for a boy. Keep us posted on the name of your little one claire. I am hoping mine takes the lead of yours and comes on due date too - tomorrow!

Who's left? It's going to be a lonely old list of 'expecting' mummies tomorrow.

skorpion · 29/11/2009 12:13

Oh, I'm still here... Just busy making lunch for mum and inlaws.

Due date today, but still no signs. Nothing. Nada. Ziltch.

Still feel full of energy and can't really slow down. Hence the sunday lunch idea. Cake in the oven, duck legs to roast. Not sure if the law of sod - as per pavlov - would work here.

Huge congratulations claire and katster!!! Very happy for you both.

ursigurke · 29/11/2009 12:14

Claire, congratulations to your little boy! PLease keep us updated!
No news from pavlov? I suppose that's a good sign.
For those of you still "expecting", sending you lots of good labour vibes. I'm sure you won't have to wait for too long anymore! So enjoy those last days, get your nails and hair done, meet your friends and keep posting on mumsnet

Laugs · 29/11/2009 12:29

Phew! Not wanting to slow things down for either of you, but it was getting a bit lonely in here.

Every evening I go to bed with the heavy achy feeling like something might happen, but by the morning I feel completely normal again. I'm getting bored now.

Have your families come to stay expecting a baby? I'm starting to feel a bit guilty as I know my parents are waiting at the end of the phone to come up and mind DD. My mum's even said she didn't want to do a roast dinner today as there might not be enough time to roast a chicken and then eat it. I have a feeling there will be plenty of time.

Laugs · 29/11/2009 12:31

Thanks ursi. I've been really good keeping busy, but today it is absolutely pouring here and dark skies. Don't know if I can bear to go out there.
