I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

Yay! the list is growing along with my belly, I'm so flabby already
I had abdominal pain til DD was 10 mths after the emcs so I've only been pain free for 5 weeks, then got pg and 4 weeks later have ms...glutton for punishment. I probably should have enjoyed being me for a bit longer than 5 weeks but I'd like our first 2 to be close in age if poss.
Healthy eating vibes to all, it's really not working in this house, too tired to eat properly!
Sorry, I'm rambling Everytime my mum phones I nearly tell her. Told her with DD at 5 weeks and she told me off! said I should wait til I was sure it was ok...I just thought she could think happy thoughts for the bean but hey ho! We women are a strange breed!

popAwheelie · 03/12/2009 20:23

I think I'm gonna tell my mum this weekend. Can't wait.

Has anyone got any book reccomendations? I've just ordered What to Expect When you're Expecting and The Blokes guide to Pregnancy. I'm a self help junkie, any other titles I should have!?

Crazycatlady · 03/12/2009 21:17

Just scanning the bookshelf for what I bought last time wheelie:

Your Pregnancy Bible, Dr Anne Deans (brill week by week pics to obsess over and lots of practical stuff)

Your Baby & Child, Penelope Leach (reassuring in the newborn days, down to earth and tells you everything is normal!)

First Time Parent, Lucy Atkins (very useful, practical, easy to read)

Active Birth (Janet Balaskas) - brilliant, brilliant birth prep and comedy 70s muff pictures

Homebirth, Nicky Wesson - good if you want a homebirth or want to find out more

Ina May Gaskin always gets raved about on here, she wrote Spritual MIdwifery among other things. Definitely going to get one of her books this time round. Wish I had last time.

Oh yes I also have:

  • Secrets of the Baby Whisperer, Tracey Hogg - we used some of her techniques with DD when having sleep issues. Saved us I think.
  • Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, Dr Marc Weisbluth, ditto.
  • Contended Little Baby, Gina Ford

Bought the Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy which I thought was rubbish and a book by Andrew Cullen on pregnancy for dads which I thought was great but DH thought the main character was a cock so that was that . The New Father:Dads Guide to the First Year by Armin Brott is good for when the baby is here though.

Phew, think that's it... [fellow self help junkie signing out]

KayloHalo · 03/12/2009 22:09

Hello guys, I'm sorry that I'm not keeping up with the thread very well - I need to know that I'm staying pregnant before I get too attached to you all

With my mc I started bleeding when I was 5+4 weeks and I'm 5+4 weeks today and so far no bleeding. Thank God.

I promise I'll do better at keeping up with the thread when things are a little more certain.

Hope you're all ok and doing well

xxxxx

popAwheelie · 03/12/2009 22:17

Crazycat thank you! Haha. I feel my amazon fingers itching!

I just told my best friend and it was lovely!

Geocentric · 03/12/2009 23:10

popAwheelie I want to tell people too!!!
Managed to wrangle an appointment with my OB tomorrow afternoon so hopefully if all goes well DH will allow me to shout it from the rooftops discreetly inform a few family members and close friends.

Kaylo lots of sticky vibes that you stay with us!

vinocollapso · 04/12/2009 07:25

Kaylo, honey, I understand, my mc was at 7 weeks (next week) though I didn't start bleeding until 11. Just stay calm and relaxed and all will be well. Sending you sticky thoughts!

Having obsessed about not having ms my day is now punctuated by waves of it. No food asides from cornflakes and bananas appeals to me and I have lost the ability to make any decisions. My usual easy peasy cycle to work now leaves me panting at the end and I want to kill my other half, pretty much all time.

I'll be 11 weeks at Christmas and want everyone to know then, but my stupid OH says we should wait. Easier said than done when I'm the one having to lie!

Sigh. I'm in a good mood really! xxxx

Chulita · 04/12/2009 08:52

vino
Had to get up in a rush cos DD was crying this morning and then regretted it for the next 40 mins. A bowl of branflakes took me over 30mins to eat, it'll be nice when the nausea goes...oh yes, and I get some energy back. I bought the Yummy Mummy ante-natal dvd and I just can't face the yoga...how bad is that?!
I'll be 12 weeks on Jan 8th (I think) but my parents are here for christmas so I'll tell them. My dad will know the second I decline the Chrismassy spiced rum anyway!
Sticky vibes for you Kaylo!

bouncingblueberries · 04/12/2009 08:56

Kaylo thinking lots of sticky thoughts for you today (I'm 5+4 today too).

Bigmomma good luck this morning.

Well, yesterday was the worst day of exhaustion I have had so far. Not sure if having the swine flu jab made things worse, or if it was just pregnancy exhaustion, but I was totally wiped out. Struggled through the day at work by having 4 cups of tea (naughty I know, but I had to do something) and a steady supply of giant chocolate buttons. Phoned my mum on the way home and nearly burst into tears when she told me how exhausted I sounded . Bundled ds off to bed asap, dh made me an omlette for dinner (couldn't face anything else - nausea and tiredness me thinks), then I poured myself into bed at the grand hour of 7.45pm. It was bliss.

Feel a bit more human today thankfully. So after all my moaning about lack of morning sickness/nausea it dawned on me today that although I may not be throwing up, I'm definitely not feeling normal. Maybe I'm just better at eating regularly this time round and not letting myself get ravenous hungry. Who knows.

Sorry for huge rambling post everyone! Hope you all have a lovely, stress-free day.

Dibbydab · 04/12/2009 09:20

Morning girls,

Well that first doctors appointment was a bit rubbish! All he asked was the date of my last period, took my blood pressure and told me to make an appt with the midwife, so my booking in appt is 29th December.

Re books I've got DH "Blokes Guide to Pregnancy" - it's quite funny and blokey (obv). "Your Pregnancy Bible" which I've not even opened yet and the "Mumsnet Pregnancy Book" which is really good, not so much a biology lesson like some of the other books, more how you'll be feeling and the mad things that will be going through your mind as experienced by thousands of Mumsnetters - you know those posts that make you laugh outloud on here, it's full of those.

I did read Mylene Klass' "My Bump and Me", blerrrugh - perfect woman, perfect boyfriend, perfect pregnancy, modelling for M & S 2 weeks before she had her baby and perfect birth

KayloHalo and Bouncingblueberries I'm 5 + 4 today as well, was there nothing on the telly that night?

Bewler · 04/12/2009 09:58

Morning everyone,

DH came home with "A Dummies Guide to Pregnancy" last night. The first 3 chapters were like "when a man loves a woman very very much he put his winkie..." Still, am very pleased that he wants to know what's going on in there (but I feel the ladies on the conception boards could have written that book in their sleep!).

Still no symptoms. Boobs are ok and nothing makes me want to honk. Cats don't run away meeeowing when I meet them in the street...but Dummies book says that no morning sickness isn't a sign anything is wrong so i'm not panicking.

I'm another filthy (albeit social) smoker going cold turkey (3rd day today). Seems easy at the moment but going out is the test I guess.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday and has fun stuff to look forward to over the weekend. DH doesn't want me to tell my Mum yet although I understand why he wants it to be our secret.

Chulita · 04/12/2009 10:11

I need salt & vinegar crisps and about a gallon of pepsi. Feel rough as today...DD's about to wake up and I'll have to drag her to Sure Start to give her a change of scene but I'm sooooooo tired.
Fish and chips tonight anyone?

sayanything · 04/12/2009 10:52

Good monring all.

Will my right boob ever catch up with my left? I swear at the moment they are two cup-sizes apart.

Other than that and exhaustion, no symptoms yet.

bigmuther65 · 04/12/2009 11:12

Hi just wondering if i can join got a BFP yesterday, my due date is 14th.Had 2 mc,s this year so trying not to get to excited, bit worried that i am getting period like cramps.Good to see some buddies from the august bus.

Bewler · 04/12/2009 11:29

Hi bigmutha65

Congratulations on your BFP!! It was my bag of baby dust what done it, non?

bouncingblueberries · 04/12/2009 11:38

OMG Chulita fish and chips - droooooool

dibbydab I'm shocked but personally, I do remember there being a very impressive Harvest Moon round about that time - is that not meant to send everyone a bit sex crazed and super fertile??

JinglingJamieJayBells · 04/12/2009 12:21

Hello all - and welcome to all the newbies, this thread to fast for to keep up now!

Haven't been posting much as to nervous, mc at 5+6 last time may feel a teeny tiny bit more hopeful after that (Sunday). Which of course make me 5+4 today - must have been something in the air that night

Getting quite a few symptoms (b00bs, peeing, funny taste, tiredness, hungry, gone off some food). I think I may have a little bit of morning sickness (quesiness more than anything) but nothing enough to convince me I'm not imaging it!

Aussieng · 04/12/2009 15:10

Gosh - lots of newbies. Hello everyone. I can't believe that we are now seeing due dates up to mid August.

Saw my mother for lunch yesterday and told her the news. As predicted she immediately burst in to tears but within a few minutes was telling me that at my age it's a risky business . At lunch she confessed that over the years she has seriously wanted to punch my gran who has at many times said to her "well it doesn't like you're going to get to be a grandma does it"

Was contemplating having one small glass of vino with lunch but just the thought of it made me retch so I remained good.

On a less happy note mum also told me that she is having some tests next week for cancer. Why are things never all good? [worried]

Aussieng · 04/12/2009 15:11

PS - how are you doing BigMomma?

mrsseed · 04/12/2009 15:16

pregnant for the 3rd time this year (2M/C) due in mid august, but due to complications with first child birth it will be an elective C/S assuming I get that far.
Hungry - all the time, tired, horrible taste in mouth, greasy hair - you name it I've got it but then that has happened with all 4 pregnancies, so pretty much know I'm going to feel rubbish for however long this lasts - you can just tell how optimistic I am! SOme people are good at being pregnant -I'm not!

sarah

BigMomma3 · 04/12/2009 15:29

Update on my scan - 1 heartbeat thank god!! The measurements put me at 6 weeks 2 days. Ovary apparently has a cyst on it which is perfectly normal and should disappear during the pregnancy.

Am very pleased and am going to while away the afternoon looking at prams on the Mothercare website!!

Bewler · 04/12/2009 15:39

Congratulations BigMomma3! How exciting! I am only 4+3 so I guess I have a long way to go until a scan date. Wasn't planning to see the doctors until about 6 weeks. Is that about right?

Hello mrsseed, I hope you find support on this thread. I've never been pregannt before and have no symptoms yet but sounds like some other ladies are feeling equally green at the gills.

Bewler · 04/12/2009 15:40

Never been pregannt OR pregnant

Dibbydab · 04/12/2009 15:53

Fab news BigMomma3 enjoy your browsing - and let us know your recommendations - you know all us first timers are going to be picking your brains over the next 7/8 months (and KayloHalo, Geocentric and Mummy369!) Mrsseed get your name on the list so we can all start thinking sticky thoughts for you and your bean. You're just as pregnant as any of us big hugs.

Bewler I saw my doctor for the first time today (5 +4), 'twas a waste of time, but at least I'm now "in the system". Midwife appt for 29th December. He didn't do any tests to confirm it, just took my word for it (that my 5 tests weren't all wrong )

Alicehasabunintheoven · 04/12/2009 18:28

Evening all

Had a migraine last night, bad nights sleep and feeling really ill this morning, but think i have a fluey virus thing, which is really rubbish. Serious weekend of DIY planned though so really need to feel better by tomorrow. Any tips?

DH is cooking dinner though so that is a bonus

WRT pregnancy book i had The Pregnancy Bible when i had DD and it was brilliant (i didn't have MN then though )
