I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

I rang the hospital to check they had Dr referral letter, and they had not received it thankfully Dr secretary faxed it through and they now have it so should have my scan soon.

With DS1 I went private to the fetal medical centre as local hospital were fobbing me off and eventually announced they had a huge backlog and were scanning at 16 weeks! Sod that I thought and got referred to another hospital (the one I've chosen this time too). They were very quick with appointments, within week of referral

Having got everyone all gee'd up on Wagamamas on NYE I got DH to drive the three of us there! We all tucked into Chicken Katsu's - they even do a kiddy version too! Feel brill that I got to have one, only problem is I could eat several at the moment.

Have also got a thing for Random's too..

Chulita · 02/01/2010 19:20

missus, take your OH in if you want, DH came to almost every MW appt I had with DD because he was at a lovely unit that let him get an hour off each time [fond memories]. This unit won't give him any time off at all so I'm going to have to do it without the moral support and with a 13 month old in tow - not best pleased!

loobyt · 02/01/2010 19:26

Boos75, I had the stitch type pains too but they stopped a couple of days ago.

Kaylo, I had blood taken on the second mw appointment with my ds but as Missus said it may depend on where you live.

Glad your scan is almost sorted BunnyBaby.

I am feeling more and more sickly each day, only seems to pass in the evening, around 7.30 ish (just in time for Eastenders or Corrie ) Toast seems to be the best thing for me to eat although not much goodness in a slice of toast! Having said all of that I had managed to eat the chocolate birthday cake that my mum made me!!

alys78 · 02/01/2010 20:29

HI,
Glad to see everyone had a good new year, I managed until 1am but was in bed at 7 on the 1st!!

I think there may be two sets of twins, I hope not to be one of them as this is #3, but as DH grandma was one of THREE sets there may be a chance.

I had my booking at 6 weeks an my midwife is fantastic and very caring, listened to my fears about miscarriage and the birth as DS1 was a very traumatic birth and I am a bit scared.

Should have our scan in a couple of weeks, can't wait but a bit aprehensive at the same time.

Nine weeks and two days today.

Chulita · 02/01/2010 20:43

I know it's massively early days but I've got a Birth Pool in a Box that I had all ready to go with DD - she ended up being a CS but I've still got it if anyone's thinking of a home water birth I'm looking to sell it at some point. I can't have a HB this time round so there's no point in having it. I'm going to post it at some point in the for sale topic but just thought I'd mention it here.

Hope you had a good birthday looby!

I've felt nauseous all day, bleugh. Got my booking in appt on Tuesday though which is exciting

We're getting closer to the 12/14 week non-vomiting time (hopefully), can't freaking wait!

RubyRubyLou · 02/01/2010 20:50

Hi all! Am 10 weeks today with #1 and feeling sick til 4.00 everyday - you could almost set a clock by me.

Been avidly reading posts for a couple of weeks but only just braved a post myself - scared of jinxing things?? (first timer's paranoia I'm sure)

Missed call from midwife for home appointment on NYE but glad I didn't answer cos house in mess and couldn't face cleaning before she came! Have heard they come to inspect you so will try and revert to domestic godess status before she comes...

Not likely according to DP who is not impressed that house is untidy and day over mince in fridge (shock horror) - he has much to learn - good job I'm laid back

loobyt · 02/01/2010 20:51

Thanks Chulita!

I've been thinking about a birthing pool either at hospital or at home, does anyone have any experience? Also if you have a birthing pool at home do you have to have it set up weeks in advance of your EDD just incase lo arrives early?

I too am looking forward to the end of the feeling sick stage, bring on the blooming/glowing stage!

loobyt · 02/01/2010 20:53

Oh and 'Hi' RubyRubyLou!

liahgenisuptheduff · 02/01/2010 20:58

Thanks Kaylo I know I'm being silly and obviously hunger/sickness is back today so feel a bit of a ninny now.

sitting here with my glass of lucozade original, complete with ice crystals cos forgot to take it out of the freezer and also peppermint tea, not sure which one will help but got to be worth a go eh?

ruby mw's are not judging you on the state of your home, trust me they have seen it all, and I know a woman, (good friend) who lived in a 2 bed masionette when her 5th!! dc waas born, in a pool at home. Her home was terribly untidy, they don't bat an eyelid, (well they shouldn't) Don't worry about it.

It's been a couple of years since I had a baby and not sure of prorocol now re scans, we had to pay for nuchal last time but Ibelieve my advancing years entitles me to a nuchal on nhs this time, Lucky me. That's 4 wks away. Not too long I guess.

Chulita · 02/01/2010 21:07

looby - I set mine up the day before the due date and waited...and waited...and waited. A week later contractions were pretty horrible so we filled it up (it only took 40 mins in our old house) and then we emptied it the next day, didn't bother filling it up again because things went so slowly and in the end DH deflated it the day after DD got sliced out of me. It didn't take long to inflate with the pump (about 15 mins).
ruby, mw's don't care about the house, I'm not half as houseproud as I probably should be, I didn't hoover for most of my last pregnancy and my mw never said a word
liahgen in the nicest possible way - I'm glad you're feeling sick again you know what I mean...

RubyRubyLou · 02/01/2010 21:07

thanks Liagen, I'll step away from the marigolds and try to relax

Anyone else having wierd cravings?

Not sure if it's because I feel sick all day but have had pancakes for breakfast and lunch for 3 days now! Can't be good nutritionally but won't be able to keep up with this when i go back to work Monday.

Working in a high school and worried about catching swine flu. One girl in her 5th month was told to stay off work for 3 weeks by her GP. Already had two colds since pregnant and not usually very sicky. SF jab still seems a bit scary. Anyone got a good argument for having the jab?

vix206 · 02/01/2010 21:46

Strange cravings - few days ago all I fancied was white bread with butter and thinly spread brown sauce. Not something I had even thought of eating before! But since yesterday I have zero appetite and eating anything is a real struggle. I have barely been upright and out of bed since boxing day, constant nausea and feeling so exhausted.

Now it is hard for me to know what is causing it, hormones, lack of food or both. Have promised myself I will eat more tomorrow and just braved a bowl of porridge to see me through the night.

7 weeks tomorrow, can't wait to sop feeling sick!!

MrsGazebo · 02/01/2010 22:11

Happy New Year to all!
DH and I had a quiet one in planned with nice M&S grub and ice cream. Poor bloke was alone most of the evening as I zonked out near enough straight after coming in from work! I woke up around 11.30 to slug a glass of Shloer, watch the fireworks, eat some Ben & Jerrys and speak to all my very drunk friends and family! Although this meant I was then awake till 4am.

I've been having really vivid, strange dreams too! Some... "a-hem" too er .... vivid to share ! Tmi but been waking up with a smile some mornings!

I'm taking steriods for a trial as I have high u(NK) cells so they maybe adding to the psyche.
In general I'm feeling good, sorry to stir but no ms due to the steriods, although I would prefer to feel icky occassionally for a little sticky reassurance. Boobs have developed their own personality and gravitional pull and the mood swings (steriods again) are rare, thankfully but spectacular.
Q.... Is anyone else finding themselves impulsively cleaning random things? I would've thought it's a little early to be nesting. I'm not what you would call overly houseproud but I don't know what's come over me! Luckily DH is being very compliant and going along with any orders and requests being barked his way.
Bless him he's being amazing and keeping it together for both of us
I have my 3rd scan on Wed I'll be 9+2.

Fingers crossed our bean is still going strong and has grown in the last two weeks.
I'll add myself to the list then as we should have a better idea. I worked out from my LMP and BD-ing I'm due 4/8 but scans show a few days later being around the 9th.
I just want to get to 12 weeks so every day counts!

Oooo... And twins ( not me) I guess 2!

liahgenisuptheduff · 02/01/2010 23:09

oh yes forgot about that.

2 sets twins. (not me please)

bouncingblueberries · 03/01/2010 09:28

Hi girls

Glad to see the thread a bit busier now. Well, after our scare earlier in the week, I'm feeling a lot less paranoid. Still exhausted though! We went for a picnic yesterday to a local national trust property - it was freezing! But it was just what we needed. We were all wrapped up and ds even had on long johns, so there weren't too may complaints. The fresh air and family time did us the power of good. ds has been getting far too much telly lately and his behaviour really suffers for it. But we had a tv-free day yesterday and only one tantrum - woo hoo! However, by the time we got home, tidied up and sat down for a cuppa, I could barely keep my eyes open - literally! Poor dh had to resort to reading the entire range of Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs (all 10 books!) to keep ds from jumping on top of me. Bless him.

I'm also having weird dreams and some have been rather saucy . With my last pregnancy I remember having an outrageous dream about a work colleague and I couldn't look him in the eye for weeks afterwards

Think we're just having a chilled day today. Back to work tomorrow after almost 3 weeks off - boo hiss. Never mind. Means I can do some guilt-free internet shopping in the sales!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! Glad to see you back kaylo.

girlsyearapart · 03/01/2010 09:49

Hi everyone.

Had a lie in till 9 this morning (those of you with kids already will understand 9 is indeed a lie in!)

Very very rare to have a Sunday lie in as DH normally works Sat nights so he is in bed till around 11-12 on a Sunday.

I woke up in the night craving Cherryade??? Havent even had it since I was about 10.

MrsGazebo we had the same New Year tipple of Schloer!

Liaghen I am also in the paranoia mmc club so I know how you feel.

Still no scan or booking apt date through. I am 9+2 now. Off to centre parcs this weekend and if I haven't heard by the time I get back I'll have to call them. I'll be 10+3 by then. Surely it's reasonable to expect a date by then?

EdgarAleNPie · 03/01/2010 10:57

@mrsZaC

similar pains here..though i had them with all my pgs (and kept 50% so not all bad going..)

know what you mean and if that was TMI fo anyone, please avert eyes...

earlier this week had a poo the size of a rugby ball that blocked the drain!! and then again the next day...

DH says i am Not Normal.

i am now having all bran for breakfast in the hope that will improve matters.

am going to have a mince pie and advocaat. hopefully it won't taste strange like everything else does...

and i have scan date - 25/01! yayyyy - good as i think i am less far gone than reckoned by LMP. (08/08/10)
unfortunately both DH and DD smell wrong to me too

littlemiss72 · 03/01/2010 14:28

Hi Ladies, hope your all doing well.

Wish I could get a lie in, seem to be up at 6/7am everyday although I'm sleeping quite a lo on the sofa

Nothing taste good right now, no cravings as such just seem to be off food at the moment. Not a bad thing considering the amount I seemed to have consumed over the festive period. Must say, cherryade sounds wonderful though lol

Back to work tomorrow and already worried people might notice I've grown. Time to dig out the flowing winter dresses. I work with 7 men so I doubt they would notice if my hair went purple overnight, we do however have a number of expectant mums in the building..

I have some business travel this month and in Feb, googled it of course 'flying' that is, what's your thoughts? is it safe or should I be making excuses. One's a short trip to Geneva but the other is Singapore, that's a hell of a flight if your not feeling too great!

No more funny dreams last night, DP is a little worried about my sleeping pattern bless him.

girlsyearapart · 03/01/2010 14:33

Oh even seeing Cherryade typed makes me want it

Flying fine until about 7mo I think.

ElusiveMoose · 03/01/2010 16:18

Hi everyone, I can't believe how long it is since I last posted - about a fortnight, I think. I have been reading the posts assiduously, but just haven't managed to find the time to post.

Had my booking-in appointment on the 30th, which made everything seem more real, though not much really happened - just filled in a load of forms and gave some blood. I'm 9+1 today so hoping I'll get my scan date soon - I'm champing at the bit! They do the nuchal scan on the NHS in my area now, which is good, because I had to pay for it last time round.

Still feeling fine, though permanently hungry and very fat (perhaps the two are connected ). I reckon two sets of twins as well, and I'm paranoid that I might be one of them - just because of how big I'm already feeling. I got all my maternity stuff back from my sister on New Year's Day and it was such a relief to put a big comfy bra on!! I can't find my maternity jeans, though, which is a PITA, because they're the one thing I'm already feeling the need for!

Luckily I'm not suffering from the emotional ups and downs that some other people seem to be finding - I didn't last time, either. I did have a little cry in front of the last episode of Dr Who last night, but TBH I think that would have happened anyway .

In response to a couple of people's questions on here... Re ultrasound scans, I think there's no evidence at all to suggest that a reasonable number of scans in pregnancy isn't completely safe. Personally, I think it's probably a bigger risk to miss something important that you might find out on the scan.

And someone days ago mentioned booking in for NCT classes. To all the first timers, I would definitely recommend signing up for them. Not so much for the advice (which did make me feel more confident about the birth, but went completely out of the window as soon as I went into labour ), but for the support network you build up. Having a newborn can be incredibly isolating, and I truly think I would have cracked up without a circle of local friends who were all in the same position. We still meet up very regularly, and I suspect one or two of them will be friends for life. And be warned - NCT classes get booked up very quickly!

Right, better dash. DS has just got a party bag from the little boy next door, with a large piece of chocolate cake that I think he might need help with...

Boos75 · 03/01/2010 16:26

Littlemiss from what I know from friends who have children flying is fine in the early stages but I would say that if you feel uncomfortable or anxious about flying long distance then you should tell your work. I wouldn't want to travel too far at the moment but then again I hate flying so may not be the best person to offer advice!

Thanks all for your responses re: stitch pains. Those have stopped now but I should be 6 weeks today and have not yet got any sickness. I know I should be pleased but I kind of would like to start feeling a little sick to ease my mind (I stupidly bought a Clearblue Digital test today to see if it now says Pregnant 3+ weeks but it said 2-3 weeks, so got a little paranoid that hormones aren't rising etc...). Anyone else out there around 6 weeks and not felt sick yet?

Ruburubylou I had a Swine Flu jab when I was at the Dr last week. I went to tell my GP I was pregnant and I asked if I needed a SF jab. She said they highly recommende it to pregnant women and booked me in there and then to see the nurse. I should have gone with my instinct, which was to say I'd like to have it in a few days so I could research the pros and cons but for once I was a bit bamboozled by everything and ended up having it. Was really worried afterwards and started to look up newspaper articles online - most said there's no right or wrong answer. I'm not going to let myself look at anymore as I will just worry. Am not usually one for flu jabs and preventative measures but as I commute by train everyday to work and sit in a large communal office I am ging to keep telling myself it was the best decision to minimise me catching SF.

Boos75 · 03/01/2010 16:28

Oh and I'm getting very vivid dreams. Some a little X rated and last night I dreamt I persuaded Simon Cowell to give me a job!

Chulita · 03/01/2010 18:22

Boos ms didn't kick in for me til about 7 weeks, I'm holding onto the hope that it's going to pass soon! You might be lucky and not get any at all

Crazycatlady · 03/01/2010 19:03

Evening all. Tee hee at all the rude dreams .

Vix I too have been barely upright since Boxing Day. Just feeling SO nauseous all the bleeding time it's really getting me down. Feel utterly useless, my poor DD and DH .

littlemiss as far as I know, unless you have any particular health risks, flying is absolutely fine. Having said that, when I was PG with DD I did make my excuses and not fly to Sweden for a business trip because I felt so hideously sick, just being on the tube on the way to work was vile, let alone up in the air.

Anyone who's thinking of doing NCT, I didn't bother last time and won't this time, but friends who did have found a network of local mums. I was lucky enough to find some really wonderful friends on a local thread on MN last time actually, Boobz being one of them. 18 months later there's a group of about 8 of us who are really good friends and we all live within about 10 mins walk of each other, so it's been a wonderful support network, lifesaving in fact. So MN can be a wonderful thing for that too, but of course NCT is good too, just costs rather a lot.

Oh may the nausea and sickness pass soon for us all, it's getting seriously boring now .

girlsyearapart · 03/01/2010 19:51

mmm cherryade
