I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

Hello to all the newbies, congrats and welcome. Hope the sickness does not kick in too badly! BigMutha you have my absolute sympathies - I wouldn't be capable of cooking toast at the moment and have developped a deep hatred of anyone who smells of anything be it soap, breakfast or cigarettes. I haven't managed a full day at work this week and the only good thing was that at yesterday's Xmas do no-one tried to make me drink. I just said i was still feeling a bit unwell and one look at my pasty face they just accepted it

Luth try telling your colleagues that you tried a beer last night and the anti-biotics made you throw it straight up so you are not chancing it again.

hey ladies,
looking at this list i feel so much better as have been fretting about coping with 2...well, if Liahgen can do it with 6 (wow!) and many of you are on 3, then I'm sure it'll be a breeze with 2!! You have my utter admiration
i'm feeling bit better today, have worked out its all sleep related and last night i go a clear 6 hours..yesterday had much less (due to an absolutely selfish and pig ignorant DH!!) and found myself actually throwing up for the first time rather than just heaving - tmi.
So i've just found out an old friend of mine is due on same day as me. it's her first. since i had my DD she has made quite a few bitchy comments along the lines of 'you're really boring now you're a mum' (great when your social confidence is on the floor already)AIBU to hope she has a particularly difficult baby?!

ElusiveMoose · 18/12/2009 14:06

Hi to all the newbies! And hope you're all enjoying the snow. We've got about six inches here in Kent, and we've done a snowman and a bit of sledging this morning. Now debating whether to risk the roads, as I really need to go to the supermarket, and I suspect the weekend before Christmas will be horrendous!

Just had my parents staying for a day or two, and I caved and told them and my sister. It's really sweet that they were all very excited, and it was quite nice to chat about it with someone who's a bit more receptive than DH - he's not really a 'chatting about babies' type of guy, and TBH I think he's a bit apprehensive about having another one (first 3 months with DS were utterly horrendous). On the other hand, I was trying to tell my mum not to get too excited until the first scan, but of course within five minutes she was wittering on about choosing a name and all sorts . Anyway, quite glad in some ways that the cat's out of the bag. Will also tell DH's immediate family when we see them at Christmas, but noone else until the scan. No date for that yet, but I'm booked in to see the MW on the 30th Dec, which has made everything seem a bit more real.

Still no symptoms apart from sore boobs and maybe tiredness (am always tired so difficult to tell!)

I was in London this week for work and had my work xmas do. It was rubbish being unable to drink and most of the food on the menu (French restaurant) was out of bounds

Luckily all my colleagues fell for the 'I'm on antibiotics due to wisdom tooth infection' excuse.

Still worried (some may say paranoid!) about my lack of symptoms. My 7th cleablue digital yesterday (!) still said 3+ weeks. I should be 7 weeks tomorrow and wondering if morning sickness will kick in soon

Boobz · 18/12/2009 19:19

Hello everyone! I'm PREGNANT too. Hurrah. I am coming to join you for the ride.

I already have a DD who is 8.5 months. I don't really know how pregnant I am (could be anything from 6 - 12 weeks - haven't had a period for 18 months and wasn't too care with the pill, so I'm winging it and coming to the Due August club, even though I could be due July...) More importantly I'm a little bit in love with CrazyCatLady so am stalking her by coming on her thread...

Have nuchal scan booked for 5th Jan (hoping I will be far enough along / not too far gone for it to be relevant!)

So I am late to the party - page 24 already! Please tell me 2 things about yourselves which will help me remember you and your nickname (am rubbish with names)... so you remember me:

I am a homebirther
I work in the online poker industry.

Nice to meet you all!

acatcalledfidget · 18/12/2009 19:36

HI, have just found this thread, am due August 11th {i think} its my first and my husbands 3rd {i have 2 lovely stepdaughters} and i am uber excited but also soooooooooooooooo sick and sick of being sick but glad I am being sick as it means everything is okay...right? I don't have my first doctors appointment till the 25th of Jan...which seems ages and ages away...is that usual? good luck ladies :-)

Missus84 · 18/12/2009 19:41

Hi Boobz, welcome!

Two things about me:

I'm a nanny but this will be my first baby of my own

I have a needle phobia and am worried about the amount of needles necessary in pregnancy

Crazycatlady · 18/12/2009 19:50

Boooooooooooooooooooooobz So glad you're here!

I'm trying to think of two things you don't know about me already,

Ok here goes:
My favourite film of all time is The Party, with Peter Sellers
It is my ambition to outnumber humans with cats in my household. No, you already knew that didn't you?

Welcome fidget. Sorry you're so sick... yuk. Is your first appointment with the midwife? You should probably get a scan date through before then too if you're having a nuchal scan as that needs to be done between 10 and 14 weeks I think.

girlsyearapartispregnant · 18/12/2009 20:32

Hi everyone- Allthe8s I hope I didn't upset you by asking how old your two were? How awful for you Here's hoping for a smooth ride this time.

Boobz

My nickname is because I have girls who were born a year apart...

My DH would lurve you as he is majorly into poker.

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 18/12/2009 23:41

hello to all the newbies and huge congratulations herbalholly please be as excited as you feel the need to be, I know it's early days but in the world of doom and gloom that we live in, it's lovely to be excited at all, especially over something as fantastic as being pregnant. Lets try and share postivie vibes.

moose whereabouts in Kent are you? I'm Kent too.

So, on the August bus they had ice cream and all sorts at the back. Do we have such treats over here? A sparkling mineral water is what I fancy at the moment.

Personally feeling really hungry now and little waves of nausea, no puking yet but it'll come I think soon enough (thats a sick face not envy). Also don't fancy anything anything to eat,

Me - I'm hungry
Dh - get something to eat
me - I don't really fancy anything
Dh -

Bless. Oh and dog nose a recognised condition of pregnancy, anything can smell awkward enough to make you retch.

Have good weekend everyone. Enjoy the snow.

girlsyearapartispregnant · 19/12/2009 09:02

Can I ask a potentially stoopid question??

I put my dates in to babycentre and got a due date of Aug 25th then put the same details into Mumsnet which gives me a due date of Aug 23rd..??

So what's going on with that then?

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 09:06

Morning

It is freezing here but i am sat here in a tshirt because being cold is helping me to not feel too sick

My friend who is due the same time as me is having to go to A&E because she thinks she has miscarried all her symptoms have gone and she had a missed miscarriage last time. Fingers crossed for her.

ElusiveMoose · 19/12/2009 09:22

Liahgen, I'm in West Kent, in a village a few miles outside Tunbridge Wells.

Girlsyearapart, I don't know what's going on with your calculator, but to be honest I think a couple of days is pretty insignficant. After all, all you need is to ovulate a day or two earlier or later than normal and that would affect your actual due date, even if you have a 'normal' cycle. But then I was 13 days late with DS, so I'm a bit about due dates anyway.

Alice, fingers crossed for your friend.

So, two things about myself....

  1. I make the best coconut dhal outside the Indian subcontinent.
  2. I rock at Tomb Raider.

Both rather blowing my own trumpet, sorry .

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 09:40

Two things about myself? Hmm......

My left leg is held together with pins and bolts where i broke it whilst pg with DD

I love making lists

Found it pretty difficult to get through two client christmas parties at Japanese restaurants without drinking and eating half of what was ordered. Fortunately was only blokes at the table so dont think they were as tuned in -- i hope!!

tiany · 19/12/2009 10:38

  1. i am irish
  2. chocoholic

I am off hoem today for the Christmas and may not be bale to log on much so wanted o wish all of you a wonderful Christmas hohoho

NichyNoo · 19/12/2009 10:55

OK - random question for you all as I am driving my DH mad with this. Does anyone else smell strange? My fingers and arms (don't really sniff other bits of my body) really smell of parsnips!!!!

It is driving me mad as I don't really like parsnips. My DH says it's all in my head. He reckons I smell different but in a fresh, wholesome way which he puts down to my body being absolutely devoid of alcohol for the first time in our 11 years together!

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 10:58

I could really smell celery the other day

Allthe8s · 19/12/2009 11:32

Girlsyearapartispregnant no of course you didn't upset me I think I may have confused the issue on another thread! xx

2 Things about me.....

  1. I am a childminder.
  2. I can't hear if I am not wearing my glasses

Wishing you all a lovely weekend ! xx
