I got my BFP yesterday, AF not due til Sunday Tested again this morning just to make sure I didn't dream it.

Have been very sick already which is what prompted me to test, also very very tired.

Looking forward to seeing other people on this exciting journey

Hi everyone can I join??

Found out I was pregnant this arvo as was two days late and feeling knackered/constantly hungry/queasy..

I did one of those conception indicator Clearblues which said 3+ and I have worked out I'm 4wks 1day baby due Aug 25th.

If all goes well this will be my third.

Dd1 will be 3 in September and Dd2 will be 2 in September.

Anyway have told 1 friend and DH obviously but I'm not sure if I'll be able to avoid alcohol all over xmas without someone sussing it.

Worse is the last 2 times I went off tea which is a dead give away and more difficult to find excuses for..

Crazycatlady · 17/12/2009 20:24

I know what you mean about two in nappies cakey. My DD will be 19 months old when this bean arrives so I don't think she'll be potty trained by then.

Bit overwhelming trying to think about how to coordinate two small children! Just don't read the 'how to cope with a baby and a toddler' threads

Welcome to Roo

Crazycatlady · 17/12/2009 20:27

Welcome [girlsyearapart] . Now you're just the person I need to talk to with a 11 month old and being 6 weeks pregnant. So, tell me how exactly does one cope with a toddler and a newborn!!

Crazycatlady · 17/12/2009 20:27

Whoops, got my emphasis wrong there, meant to say welcome girlsyearapart!

Crazycatlady · 17/12/2009 20:33

Shall we have another roll call? There's quite a few more of us now . Anyone not on the list please add and repost!

Well my dd2 was born when dd1 was 1year 3days old so we had them very close.

The things I found the hardest:

Being heavily pregnant and having to look after dd1.

The first few weeks when dd2 was born dd1 decided to stop walking and I had to carry both to & from the car etc.

If your first is already 11mo you won't have those issues.

It is a big adjustment in terms of things like going out taking longer but be kind to yourself and don't take on too much.

Things I used to cope:

Laying out their clothes the night before

Sticking to a routine, keeping it the same for both of them as far as possible

Accept help when it's given!

Go to toddler groups- it entertains the eldest/wears them out and there is always someone who'll want to hold the baby for you.

Try to make any big changes before your bump gets big, like if your eldest is clingy, wants picking up even when nothing wrong, don't wait until you have your hands full with a new baby!

Anyway it is all totally and utterly worth it. There is nothing as good as hearing your children laugh together

And if it was that bad we wouldn't be going for it all over again would we..

Am happy to give specific advice on whatever you want or can just ramble...

HypotheticalMummy · 17/12/2009 22:09

20th August 2010!!

luth · 17/12/2009 22:21

I'm nervously poking my head around the door too - can I be in the gang please? I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm due on the 13th August. It's my first and I just found this site. Although I am 38 I suddenly feel like a teenager. There's so much to learn and you're all using really strange abbreviations!! (Translation would be fantastic someone!) My first reaction when I found out I was pregnant was sheer and utter fear. Although the baby is very much wanted I can't get my head round all the dos and don'ts and I keep messing up - making me think I'm going to be the worst mother ever and I'm only at 6 weeks. Is this normal?

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 17/12/2009 22:45

Hi luth congratulations, I think I am the oldest so far and it still feels like the first time for me too.

Everything emotional is normal with pregnancy, highs, lows, strange mood swings, strange cravings, some days even your husband's smell could make you retch.

just dive in, which abbreviations didn't you understand? Could you copy and paste the list and add yourself at the correct date?

luth · 17/12/2009 23:10

Ha ha - that made me laugh! Hubby's out at a wild Christmas party tonight so he's definately going to smell when he gets home!

What do these stand for?
BPF
DD
DH
(I can just about work the others out - but I'm sure there are more too!)

PS Any good excuses for why you are not drinking this Christmas? I really don't want to tell anyone yet and its my work's do tomorrow. I'm usually the 'life and soul' if you know what I mean. I came out with the "antibiotics for a throat infection" excuse today and everyone said I could still have a couple whilst on antibiotics! I never realised my friends were such beer bullies!

Anyway here's the updated list!

girlsyearapartispregnant · 18/12/2009 07:29

Morning Luth-

Don't know if you mean BFP? It means big fat positive on your pregnancy test.

DD is Darling/dear Daughter (with a number after to show which you mean)

DH is Darling/dear Husband also can be DP for partner if you're not married.

There is a list of abbreviations somewhere in Getting Started I think? Look at the top before you click on Talk.

Anyway feeling decidedly queasy this morning and DH decided last night was a great night to go out and crash at a mates without telling me so I was stressing that I'd be left with 3 on my own!

About the drinking thing- there are only about 2 antiobiotics that you can't drink alcohol with so it's difficult to use that excuse..

Better one is driving- do you drive?

Getting the drinks in yourself and having lemonade and saying it has vodka in/holding same glass of wine all night/accidentally spilling your drink. Once people have had a few themselves they won't notice.

Or inventing a mini emergency that you may need to leave for such as being on call to look after a neighbours children if she goes into labour or something..

Depends on how good a fibber you are- I'm totally rubbish and will really struggle to keep this quiet for another 8 weeks!

Good excuses girlsyearapartispregnant - go with the driving , although my mates would suspect even if I said that so I have told my nearest and dearest!

Anyone else have a mouth like a bag of old coppers? Urrrrgh (pukey emotion)!

girlsyearapartispregnant · 18/12/2009 08:14

AllThe8s- how old are your 2?

Feeling queasy can't believe it at only 4 weeks.

Allthe8s · 18/12/2009 08:36

I have always suffered with bad nausea but rarely sick but the metallic taste is just horrible.

DD1 is 3yrs & 4 months and DD2 I mc at 21 weeks pregnant Not planning on telling DD1 this time for as long as possible although she understands it all now so she will work it out for herself quick enough probably.

She wants to go out in the snow and DH has gone to work and I am too tired already!!!

girlsyearapart thank you! Routine worked really well for us with DD1 (well, after the first crazy couple of months) so I'm hoping we'll be able to do the same with this one and stave off some chaos at least.

Getting out of the house with two does seem like a challenge, although I'll probably use the sling again for the newborn so we don't have to battle with a tandem buggy. Or are they worth getting? A friend has a Phil & Teds but it just seems so enormous compared to the Bugaboo Bee we've had for DD, which I adore.

bigmuther65 · 18/12/2009 10:31

Welcome all Newbies welcome to the maddness

Not been the best of couple of days feeling rather rubbish and think it is getting me down. Not looking foward to christmas don,t get me wrong DH works really hard 15 hr days sometimes, but all the preperation of christmas presents food etc i have to do myself, and it is over whelming me at the moment plus got to cook for 12 people christmas day argggggggg

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 18/12/2009 10:56

Morning

Welcome newbies and congratulations

I have just taken DD round town on a sledge because the snow is so deep! She loved it. I have also just bought myself some Sea Bands and i think they may be helping a bit. Need to find something to eat though and not sure what i fancy.....Any suggestions?

isheisnthe · 18/12/2009 11:57

Just took both DS's out in the snow for a few hours - lovely - fell over lots tho! e cam back and had hot chocolate and french toast - yummy!

HerbalHolly · 18/12/2009 12:11

Woop Woop! Congratulations everybody!

I feel so pukey! I have a 30 min bus ride into work and this morning I nibbled fresh ginger the whole way because I was worried about puking on the lady in the seat infront. It worked really well. At work now and just want to curl up and sleep. This is my first pregnancy and I'm very excited - can't imagine how special a new little babe will be. Trying not to get over-excited though as I know it's early days. (I think I'm about 6 weeks).
