Oh helenwombat that sounds horrendous, poor you. Hopefully the creams and antihistames work for you. At the moment my boy is burrowing his head right down on my cervix I think, it's sooooo uncomfortable.
Dwayne I know what you mean about being near the hospital, we are about 20 minutes away from ours, maybe less in an ambulance, so fingers crossed we'd be OK if we needed to get in. If there looks like there's going to be any risk I would just go to hospital.

rebstully · 12/02/2010 12:31

Hello. I'm due 21st April and am finally posting as I can't ignore it anymore... I've suddenly started feeling huge, vulnerable, needy and useless and OBSESSED with birth. So nice to see that this seems entirely normal! Thanks!

I would love a home birth but our place is tiny and we are chaotic and messy so we've gone for birthing centre. It's good to see lots of other people wanting to labour at home as long as posible, I feel like that's the key to staying relaxed for me cos otherwise I'll get tetchy around the professionals and probably slow it all down. I'm not the most patient or chilled out at the best of times!

Yup. complete novice. Don't even know what you mean by the list - that's how novice I am!

Just wondering if 30/31 weeks is a usual time to become totally overwhelmed by it all, although usual doesn't seem to be a word you can use really does it?! It just feels like there's still loads of my 'other' life still to go, working and that, but my body is just hurtling towards birth and wants me to ignore everything but staring at my belly trying to guess if it's still breech.

I'm talking nonsense...!

I'm going for hospital again although, as you rightly point out Dwayne, going through transition in a car isn't the most fun I've ever had. Thank god it was 6am and there was no traffic on the road but it was still the longest 15 minute car journey I've ever had. I had my eyes tightly shut, and held on to the handle above the door for dear life. And MOOOOOOED!!

I'd consider home birth but for me, even a 15 minute drive to hospital seems like a long time now, so I wouldn't fancy doing that if it turned out I needed an emergency CS. So hospital it is again. I don't mind cutting it fine though, rather that than being in a hospital room for a long time. Last time I was lucky, delivered DS1 at 8:30am, and was home by 8pm, eating dinner, watching telly and thinking "blimey, this is weird" in a kind of post-gas-and-air trance as DS1 squeaked and muttered in the moses basket on the sofa!

Welcome rebstully, and don't worry about talking nonsense, you'll be doing a lot of that in the coming days, weeks, and months..! (That is, if you're anything like I was & expect to be again before and after birth - forgive me judging by my own standards!).

Dwayne that sounds lovely. I spent the night last night clearing up DS' vomit and washing sheets & towels. The diarrhea has kicked in now . Got a mountain of washing still to do.

Oh the joys of motherhood

nicnacinoonoo · 13/02/2010 14:57

thanks dwayne dont know about other people but i want march because if they are born before 1st april then when they are 3 they get the free pre school places from april, but if they are born from april 1st onwards they dont get to start until september.

also if i have the baby before easter weekend dh will have to take less time off work as he will already have the friday and monday of easter weekend off.

and finally i dont want to have an operation on april fools day ha silly i know but ill be nervous enough as it is.

and then of course there's the fact that its sooner ha ha

Fingers crossed for a March one here as well.

Happy Birthday nic. Hope you have had a great day so far!

dani87 · 13/02/2010 20:04

hi all how is everyone? havent been on here for a while so going to catch up in a min suffering really bad back at the mo

i saw doc for antenatal appointment baby is measuring way to big so got to see consultant monday. Has anyone else been told this and if so what happens? im panicking abit now as dd1 was 7lb 11oz and they said that was "big" for 1st. Also worrying abit now of how im going to cope with newborn and 2 year old as dd get very spiteful with smacking but luckly the naughty step seems to be working with her (hope it last)

well sorry to go on lol. hope everyone having lovely weekend!

Dani I'm sure the size is fine in my 2 previous pregnancies I had a tiny bumpand both my boys were a normal size (6lbs 8oz and 7lbs 4oz) this time I am measuring smack on but for me that seems huge!
My DS2 is also hitting at the moment but he is only hitting his big brother and his NCT buddies. He then goes and puts himself on the naughty step (We use it for DS1) but thinks it is a game!!
Welcome Rebstully looks like there are a few of us due on the 21st now!

Bettymum · 15/02/2010 10:09

Good luck for consultant today dani - FWIW, I had two latish scans with DD and one sonographer said "Ooh, you've got a big baby there" and one said "Hmm, that one looks quite small" . She was 7lbs.
Dwayne hope you had a lovely massage and afternoon tea! Sounds wonderful!
Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's day, DH bought me a huge bar of Toblerone, I love him. I bought him some new pants .
nic hope everything goes well for you, v. interesting about the nursery places, I keep veering from "I hope the baby's early, everything hurts and I want to be small again" to "I hope the baby's not early, I'm not ready!!!". DD keeps asking when she's going to meet the brother, I tell her "when he's grown big enough in my tummy." At the moment her favourite activities are poking my tummy and then yelling HELLO at my navel since I told her her brother could hear her.

Mistymoo · 15/02/2010 15:21

Hi All

Haven't posted in a while but have been keeping up to date.

I'm not feeling too good today. Was a little sick this morning, can liquid iron make you feel like that? I also have a sore throat on the right hand side again. I did have it for about 4 weeks but about 2 weeks ago it went and now it's back. Never mind, I'm sure I'll cope.

We are having a big change around with rooms here. We are having built in wardrobes made in all the bedrooms. Our room is being done first so hopefully it will be finished soon so I can get it all organised for me, dh and baby to settle into.

I keep thinking that 9 weeks is ages away and so don't seem to have much of a rush in me

tostaky · 15/02/2010 15:57
