hello everyone, and how the devil are you all, well I think by my name change you will have guessed it's me with the chocolate thing too, so far have managed to eat not only my weight but that of my DP in Creme Eggs!! I find I can quite happily eat 6 at a time

Only 7 weeks to go for me and am sooo looking forward to meeting the little hong kong fooey in my belly, he is kicking me all the bloody time and some of them really hurt ouch!

Have moved flat now but everything is far from sorted and am really feeling like I'm running out of time, but 7 weeks is ages...isn't it?!

Went to see the health visitor today and have been given my little red book, has anyone else? She was really nice and she told me about all the breast-feeding workshops there are and I should be fine if I stick with it.

Anyway enough about me, my creme eggs are lovely and cooled in the fridge and are waiting to be devoured......

6 creme eggs at a time!! I am in awe! I can manage about one a year, they are so sickly (but delicous). Mind you, that's when I'm not pg. I'd better not have one now in case I find that I need five more .
Just been out for a quick walk, sooo sore between my legs now don't know if it's SPD but it jolly hurts. 32 weeks today . DH keeps telling me not to have the baby on Easter Sunday as he wants to watch the cycling on the telly . Maybe he'll be watching it with his son on his lap!

lineky · 10/02/2010 16:27

Hi all, its savoury all the way for me - Tyrells Mature cheese an donion crisps Mmmmm.
Just back from midwife and am very peed off as have been advised to cancel my weekend away in Oban visitibg friends as she suspects per-eclampsia, high blood pressure, protein in urine, headaches. I am sooo fed up of this pregnancy malarky now Still only 8 weeks to go and then it will all be worth it

Bettymum · 11/02/2010 09:56

Sorry to hear about that lineky hope everythiing is OK.

thedollshouse · 11/02/2010 10:27

Sorry to hear that lineky. Is there any medication you can take or is it just a question of rest?

Zeeky · 11/02/2010 11:53

Did anyone watch "One Born Every Minute" on Tues? Wasn't sure whether to watch it or not, as was worried that it might show some horror stories (and I'm sure it probably will as the series progresses!). I managed to cry when each of the babies gave its first cry, and I usually don't cry at things like that!

But who on earth would want their 18yr old son there when they are giving birth !!! If my husband acted like hers did during labour I would hit him, but she didn't seem overly bothered by it!

thedollshouse · 11/02/2010 12:20

Zeeky I have just this minute finished watching it on iplayer. I cried too, especially when the young girl was having her csection, it brought it all back to me.

The husband of the other lady has been slated on MN for his behaviour but I actually thought that he was trying to keep things lighthearted. I got the impression from the banter going on between the two that having someone who was acting silly and childish was probably what she needed.

The programme did scare me and made me realise that we aren't far away from our due dates now. I have decided that I am too scared to have a c-section or a natural birth. Anyone have any idea if there are any other options?

HoopsIsGettingMassive · 11/02/2010 12:30

I watched it too, and I thought the guy being silly was fab, he knew when it was getting serious and when to stop acting the idiot, not sure I'd like an 18 year old watching me give birth though!!

It also has made me realise that we are not far away and I told mini-hoops to watch carefully and behave himself!! the dollshouse i don't think you have a choice now and I'm sorry to say that's it's too late to change your mind now

It has also made me realise that I'm actually looking forward to giving birth and meeting my son for the first time and that it isn't really that scary, it's just something that has to happen.....no doubt I will be crapping myself nearer the time though!!

Hope everyone is feeling fab and that people aren't suffering woth extreme heartburn like I am, have drank a pint of milk in the last 5 minutes cause I've run out of Gaviscon , it's not bloody helping!

I didn't watch One Born Every Minute but my Mum was telling me this morning about that bloke on it and I think she wanted to slap him on all of our behalves, so not it wasn't just you DwayneDibbley!! He sounded like an arse to me!!

My nesting has gone up a gear. I've started buying storage boxes and baskets and am actually sorting out cupboards - yesterday the first aid / medicine cupboard in the kitchen (see, I've organised myself so much that now I even HAVE a first aid cupboard!!), then the pantry, and today it's the turn of the bathroom cupboards. I really ought to get out more I think!

Went to the midwife yesterday and at 31.5 weeks I measured 34cms. That's pretty big, isn't it?! I'm either having an elephant or there's a lot of water in there with him! Let's hope it's the latter eh.

HOpe everybody's feeling well, sorry to hear about your situation Lineky hope you're doing OK.

Ooh, I would have punched that Steve! Trying to lock his poor wife in the loo! I said to my DH afterwards (who didn't watch the programme) that I was very glad to have had him there when I had DD, not that tw*t. But I guess different things work for different people.
I am starting to get really quite nervous now. I actually thought the documentary was good as it showed one labour from start (almost) to finish, although it would have been good to have some kind of timescale to it. I cried when the babies were born, I can't wait to meet mine! I wonder who will be the first out of all of us to meet their wee one?

lineky · 11/02/2010 16:56

Thanks for all your good wishes folks - nothing to be done but take it easy and be monitored closely. Just really hacked off at missing my planned weekend away. However only 8 weeks to go - really can't wait - not even too worried about the birth as I just want pregnancy to be over so that's something.

Thanks for your reassurance about my bump's size, Dwayne, good to know!

I laboured at home for most of the time - contractions were a few mins apart, went to the hospital at midnight and was told to go home as not 'officially' in labour as not dilated yet.

So we went home, I ran a bath and lay in it, doing deep breathing etc. After a couple of hours I started to feel sick & shaky, and then began, well, mooing is the only word for it - bellowing it to expel lots of air from my lungs which really helped with the contractions. DH recognised this as being in 'transition' and ordered me out of the bath, into clothes and into the car! This was at about 5:30am, we were at the hospital at 6am and DS1 was born at 8:30am.

I'd definitely say that if you get to the point where you're showing any signs of being 'in transition' (sick, shaky, scared, suddenly feeling 'different' or 'weird') you need to get to the hospital asap!!

Zeeky · 11/02/2010 19:19

Dwayne - I went to the hospital the first time when contractions were 2 mins apart as was getting panicky, as books say to go when 5 mins apart. Was only a couple of cm dilated so went home again. Went back about 4 hours later when it was getting too much for me - I just wanted to be somewhere safe! Baby didn't come for another 12 or so hours after that, but at least I had some gas & air and constant midwife attention to get me through.

Doing hypnobirthing this time, so will try to stay home as long as possible. Also, need to get parents up from Wales to look after DS, so the longer I am at home the better, as gives them a chance to do the 4 hours drive up here!!

Zeeky · 11/02/2010 19:20

Meant to add that the labour ward had been very busy and kept having to close, diverting people to other hospitals. I really didn't want to be diverted, so just wanted to get there and stay put!!

thedollshouse · 12/02/2010 08:41

If my maternity unit was closed the nearest hospital would be 30 miles away, if I refused to leave what would they do? They wouldn't eject a labouring woman from the building would they?

ilovesprouts · 12/02/2010 08:59

dd has 11 weeks to go her bump is sooo huge lol{grin]

Bettymum · 12/02/2010 10:05

thedollshouse I think it depends on the hospitals. When I had DD we got to hospital about 2am and were lucky enough to get a room, by 11am they had shut the hospital and were turning people away. At breakfast later in the morning that I'd had DD, I was talking to a girl that was turned away but refused to budge so she had the baby there. Maybe it just depends how far on in labour you are, I don't know.
Dwayne have you considered a home birth? DD was supposed to be a home birth, I was getting strong contractions close together so we called the midwife (instead of going to hospital), she came out to us and saw that I wasn't actually dilated yet (DD was back to back so the contractions were trying to turn her round, not push her out). The strong/close contractions continued for a long long time after that, getting stronger, the midwife came out twice more and eventually we transferred in as it was progressing so slowly. But if I hadn't been down as a planned HB I'd have been in and out of hospital two or three times I reckon. I know HBs aren't for everyone but it's maybe worth a thought?
