ursi She did it over my sleeve, and rather than doing it before I lay down for my exam, she did it after I sat up, which (I think) could have caused a slight spike. It was the student MW doing it, not my usual MW, which made me a bit nervous. (MW would typically take it again if it were high - she did that last time I saw her.) Student MW had trouble taking my fundal height measurement, too

x-posted with BBL... what a scam! We don't have a car and the parcel depot is two miles away. DH can ride his bike over, but no guarantee he'll be able to carry it home. I scheduled a redelivery, hopefully they actually bring the parcel then. Grr.

southernbelle77 · 02/11/2009 14:53

WOW! How exciting with two more arrivals! Congratulations Fruit on your little boy and congratulations Helips on your little girl, Amelia )
Also, congratulations Claire on your engagement, that's really lovely.
I have been shattered today and been in bed most of the morning! DD has a inset day, so MIL has kindly taken her for me so I could catch up on sleep. I am sleeping so badly at the moment. I am awake every half hour with pain in my hips, pelvis and bump so not getting any decent amount of sleep.
DD's sleepover didn't go so well! She was really unsettled and kept saying she wasn't tired! Think it will be last time for a while! Her friends mum was really lovely about it though and still kept her all day yesterday! She slept VERY well last night for me though as she was shattered

Congratulations helips and fruit and claire (wow my dp hasn't been romantic like that since we got together errh... 13 years ago!

Had 40week check up at the hospital today realy got my hopes up as 3weeks ago i was 2cm dilated and today i was ... 2CM DILATED!!! Plus as baby was fast asleep i had to spend nearly 2hrs hooked up to the monitor. I bit fed now but maybe for the best as my boiler has finally given up the ghost so no hot water or heating! Maybe not the best home environment for a newborn! Plus when dp tried to relight it he got hit by a blast of flames that singed his hair, eyebrows etc... so definetly leaving it turned off till our mate, whos a plumber comes to fix it!

Trikken · 02/11/2009 15:16

woah what a lot has been written since this morning, Erika I have told mil that i dont like him having so much junk, especially as my dad and gran both have type 2 diabetes, but she seems to have forgotten this conversation, plus it makes me feel like the enemy each time we fall out over food.

Can barely move at the moment, but have been into town and helped dh build a new video/cd storage unit and we blitzed through the kitchen together as it was getting cluttered so thats probably why. but dont have to move off the sofa for a bit as dh has gone to pick up bil and 'the annoying friend' for a gaming session on the xbox, so i intend to relax.

hobnob57 · 02/11/2009 17:10

I'm irrationally today. Probably a lot to do with not having eaten anything that's remotely healthy (bar my bran flakes) and baby being really uncomfortable today.

MIL was coming to take DD & I swimming this morning, aiming for 10-10:30. So we missed our weekly walk with DD's 'boyfriend' and I hoovered instead whilst waiting for MIL. She arrived at 1045. We went to the pool to find out that she had been using the half term timetable not the new term time one and we couldn't swim. So we went to the garden centre for snack and then homebase. Except she went straight to homebase so I couldn't get what DH was after because he didn't have time to reply to my text. Lunch was great. Back to homebase to get DH his shed hinge. Rush home to get back in time (well 20 mins late) for the time window given by a blind company for their visit to measure up a window.

Stayed in ALL afternoon waiting for blind co., paranoid that I'd missed them. Sunny outside - a perfect day for the park but DD had to entertain herself inside. Give up and make tea. Blind man rings at 445 to ask if still ok to come round (due any min). I'm just really grumpy about this.

Baby, as I said, started the day diagonally and hurting my lower RHS. I think it might have straightened out but the back of my pelvis is now really sore. Not in a promising labour way but in a wrong things pressing against wrong places way. It better not be back to back now! It has been shoving down but banging off the top of my pelvis instead of getting anywhere.

Grrr. Someone tell me they had a better day? Claired you must have had a groovy day telling everyone your news?

skorpion · 02/11/2009 17:31

Oh hobnob, really sorry to see you grumpy. Tomorrow is another day - can you just chill in a bath with a book, or whatever is comfortable, for the evening? Hope the mood gets better soon.

I've had a meh day - not grumpy, just don't know where the time's gone. I find that the days go quicker on mat leave. I haven't even done anything baby connected. Well, apart from sticking some blankets in the washing machine. We-hey, first load of baby washing is being done.

Finished the last Jack Reacher book yesterday. If you plan to read it but are a bit squemish - maybe wait. Also, don't know what posessed us, we spent our wedding anniversary evening watching Watchmen and I Am Legend. Both horrendously gruesome, gave me bad dreams. It's my b'day tomorrow and - weather permitting - we are planning a day out in Oxford. And then maybe some Disney on dvd to counteract last night's horrible films. And I think I'll read Winnie the Pooh

Wishing everyone a nice evening - and pea shelling vibes to those about to pop

hobnob57 · 02/11/2009 17:33

trikken I'm with you on the IL food thing. FOund out that MIL had given DD and energy drink (??!!) after swimming last week, and usually a 'snack' of inappropriate sugariness. Never fruit, but she sometimes compromises on yoghurt-coated fruit flakes. As long as it comes in a pretty packet and has a suitably long list of additives it is satisfactory in the 'spoiling' stakes. And she always gives her fruit shoots to drink, to the point now that DD doesn't accept water as a drink, nor watered down fruit juice. Only cordial with aspartame in it will do. Goodness knows what that is doing to her .

I think I really need a walk or something to unwind.

Found out that ONE roman blind costs £250-£450 ! Can't believe it! How do people manage? This is for our ex-dining room now study. We hadn't bothered for the past 5 years but now we use the room at night in the winter it makes sense insulation-wise to have some kind of window covering as well as privacy-wise, especially as the screensaver on the PC is family photos. Crumbs. I'll nail up a blanket...

hobnob57 · 02/11/2009 17:42

pav how has baby been today? If you're still not convinced all is ok, PLEASE get it checked out. I don't want to be alarmist but a woman on a previous antenatal thread I was on had a stillborn and after that I panic about anything unusual. Mine had a bout of mega activity once but it was normal afterwards so I didn't question it so much. But reassurance is valuable.

hobnob57 · 02/11/2009 17:43

Happy birthday for tomorrow Skorpion.

misssese · 02/11/2009 18:00

coleen rooney had her baby today! kai wayne rooney! another november baby hehe

VenusInfers · 02/11/2009 18:06

hobnob £250-£450!!! Are they made of cashmere and spun gold or something? Out-flipping-ragious. You could always go with the shop re-fit look and cover your windows with sheets of newspaper or Windolene! After waiting in all day for the man with the tape measure it's particularly rubbish that they're priced for oligarchs.
You should def go for a walk and kick some leaves about to get rid of some of the 'meh' from your system!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/11/2009 18:16

hobnob Thanks for checking. I am a bit like you, in a bit of pain. Not labour pain, but sore bump pain. He has wiggled all afternoon so clearly ok in there, I think ursi might be right though, i think he might have changed positions . There appears to be a bum, or something similar sticking out of my right handside!

However, some possible good news for you re: blinds. We have had horrendous time finding blinds as we have a long drop that is difficult to fit, 187cm drop, so normal 160cm is too short, extended 220cm too long. After much searching and price checking I found place and it does made to measure for much cheaper than Hillarys Blinds for example who wanted to charge us £450 for wooden venetians. We are going for bamboo roman blinds, coming in at £115 for 3 (bay window). Worth looking at.

hobnob, trikken, how annoying about your inlaws. I really hope I will be able to control mine better. But I doubt it. They already spoil their only son so I guess it will be worse with the so far only grand child. I might have less problems on the food front though as MIL is now on kind of a health trip so she is usually mostly impressed by my even healthier attitude (doesn't know about my chocolate problem)
Spoiling grand children is one thing but actually doing something bad for their health (and I assume everybody knows it's bad) AND against your education/opinion!!!

Well, after my walk, I am having some light cramps again, trying to "help" them with a cinnamon overdose now.

scarlotti how was your walk? I assume you're not out there anymore?

wook, koumak haven't heared from you today. Are you "busy"? Are you leaving me alone on top of our list? (holding hands with venus) If so, I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best (despite your rude behaviour )

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/11/2009 18:31

kyte how lovely of your friend and son! I had a spotless home immediately prior to leaving for hosp...8 days later i returned home and it looked as it always had! A mess! So am sure it won't stay tidy for long

LifeOfKate · 02/11/2009 19:16

Christ, I totally meant to keep up with this thread (well, old thread... I introduced myself some 1000 posts ago) but you lot move very quick! Hopefully I'll be able to keep track better now I'm on Maternity leave

I'm due on 25th, so still ages yet, and am totally sure it'll be a December baby anyway... We gave in and bought baby a christmas outfit the other day! Please tell me someone else has done this!!

Lovely to see there are already a few babies born, Congratulations all!! Hope all is going well with new babies and with everyone's pregnancies

skorpion · 02/11/2009 19:31

Welcome back lifeofkate, yes keeping up around here is a full time occupation

We haven't bought our lo a christmas outfit, but got given one, so will definitely be using that. I know what you mean though, it is irresistable.

kyte what lovely friends you have.

I think I'm giving up on trying to keep the place tidy. At the moment our dining table is my desk and is covered foot-high with paper, as I'm trying to make sense of a client's records consisting of three carrierbags' worth of receipts! Unusual filing system, but I suppose that's why he hired me in the first place, so can't complain. I'm hoping for the nesting instinct to kick in in a couple of weeks, still have four weeks to edd.

hobnob thank you!

pavlov glad to hear the little boy is active again.

skorpion · 02/11/2009 19:38

I've had some strange movements in today. I'm thinking it may be hiccups, very low down and deep inside, just over the perineum. Like rythmic bubbles popping (don't think it's wind ).

On my last appt the mw said the munchkin is probably head down, so I'm hoping it's not a little foot kicking to the rythm of Wonderwall...

ErikaMaye · 02/11/2009 19:54

Longway sounds like she just messed up a little then, and nothing for you to worry about. I tend to call as soon as I find the slip and play the heavily pregnant and disabled cards ? gets them back round here pretty quick Hope it turns up soon for you.

Maman sorry to hear there?s been no progress, and sorry to hear about your boiler too! Just what you don?t need about now?

Trikken ugh, just what you need? I hope she ?remembers? pretty quickly. DP is rather hooked to his Xbox too.

Ohhh contraction!!!!

Hobnob sending you hugs and hope you?re having a better evening than you did day.

Skorpion in case I don?t remember, happy birthday for tomorrow, hope the weather holds out for you

Pavlov glad things have settled down again, or started up again rather.

Kyte how sweet Hope your lounge is just as sparkly now!!

LifeofKate heya again, welcome back! Yes have fallen prey to the Christmas stock also Though have been given the outfits. Bought some little socks though

Scarlotti hope something is happening for you soon.

And its gone.

I ambled into town after my antenatal class to get the last few bits for my hospital bag. Also got a cheap form of those hair remover pads ? you just rub your leg and the hair goes. Was very sceptical, got them as a bit of a laugh really ? trying to work things through with Mum at least before Bryn arrives ? but oh my GOODNESS my legs are so smooth

Feel terribly sick this evening? And now my belly is all hard again. Hmm?

scarlotti · 02/11/2009 19:59

usi had a lovely walk thanks although by the end of it I felt like my bump was in a vice and was quite uncomfortable for a while! oops! Still, hoping it's no pain no gain and he's now pressing downwards more.

We have a christmas pudding outfit from DS that I've washed ready

Started to make plans for things to do this week on days when DS is home, and days when he's at nursery - either I'll get to do them or it will give this little one some plans to scupper!!

pav glad he's wriggling about again, are you feeling ok now? Hope so.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/11/2009 20:08

scarlotti painful belly, sore throat, aches and pains - have a cold and this baby is definitely up to something as i have painful pressure on my backside and base of belly. Told DH and he said what do you think it is? 'er, the baby likely' i said in not a mild tone of sarcasm! He said 'naaah, he is not coming yet' in that, you are so wrong if you think you are in labour, you are just having a bad day!

ursigurke · 02/11/2009 20:14

pavlov, mine has switched sides a couple of weeks ago (two days after the GP had said she will most likely not change position anymore)and I was worried if she was back to back because suddenly I had a new kind of backpain. Maybe we always feel some sort of pain when the baby changes position as suddenly it puts pressure on new spots of our body and they are not yet "used" to it?
