Wizzywoo at 'irritable uterus'!! Poor you! Although I think I may have an irritable something else at the minute, am not at my most tolerant!

Was thinking the same about the boys arriving early - the next one has to be a girl Although everyone I know has boys, I am worried we are going to disappear! All three of the babies born from my antenatal class have been boys and I did genuinely read something about boys tending to come earlier than girls?! Wonder if there's something in it, or am I clutching desperately at straws?

scarlotti that type of reaction from them says more about the type of people they are than you! They should be disgusted with themselves. As someone else said, if I'd accidentally outed someone having given something second hand when they'd not brought it up I'd feel really awkward and embarassed and go out of my way to make sure they knew I didn't mind and that it was ok etc etc. It's pretty tacky of them to have a go at you for it.
Just noticed the names of two of the arrivals - Lukas (spelled like that too) is the name of my eldest and Isaac is what this baby will be called

katser I've never heard that - about boys coming earlier than boys...went into labor at 41 weeks with ds1 and 37 weeks with ds2 so wasn't true with me at least

belgianbun that musn't be very nice to go through, I can totally understand where you're coming from wanting a cs, you shouldn't feel awful about it... if you feel that strongly about it, you should mention it at your next mw appointment. I have to have one and tbh it's a big relief with all the pain and whatnot I've had this time. As I said, just mention it to the mw/consultant, they can be pretty receptive. I went into labour with ds2 at 37 weeks but wasn't booked in for a section until 39 and pointed that out to consultant when he mentioned that they'd do the section at 39 weeks and without me even asking he said "oh, you're right, really we should book you in for 38 weeks this time" and they have. It's worth a shot xx

If they know that you're serious and that there's medical justification they're more likely to take you seriously...I've heard loads of women pushing for sections because they are getting impatient, want a more covenient date, or are under the illusion that a cs is easier...the mws won't do it for those reasons and she may have thought that's what you meant...but if it's concern for your health they should listen to you and take it into consideration xx

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing ok. I am FED UP with being pregnant! Can't sleep properly and feel enormous.
Kyte - I made a double batch of your biscuits and gave them to DH's grandma who was in hospital for an operation, my brother-in-law who had swine flu (we think) and DH who was off to see some of his mates at the pub for a pre-fatherhood drink and football afternoon. They were a huge success! Thank you very much for the recipe.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2009 07:25

katster at you ironing babygros!!! This is your first then! That wont last long I assure you

belgiunbun sorry to hear you have high blood pressure. Are they looking at doing a sweep with a view to inducing? Talk to them about it, but a sweeep itself is not so bad. It lasts literally a couple of seconds, and they can tell at the same time if you are viable for induction which you might not be at 37 weeks anyway. You could always talk and say that if you are not ready for induction you want a c-section. Be forceful about it, and insist they at least go through it as an option with you seriously.

wizzywoo irritable uterus sounds horrible. I have irritable husband, and now i ignore that, wonder if its the same kind of thing only kidding he has been remarkably tolerant, considering my grumpiness recently.

I would just like for things to ease off a little now. There is still so much to do before the baby arrives, including legal stuff which is stuff a pain. But, DH has a job interview on Friday, third time lucky for same company who keep asking him back for different jobs - they obviously want him, but can't just give him a job. They are, it seems trying to find the right slot for him as they keep contacting him to ask him to apply for new jobs (its a new project). This one is more up his street than the others - application was in on friday, they called him yesterday before lunch to tell him he had been shortlisted, interview on friday - quick turnaround! And same presentation he did last time...I hope its a sign.

kyte lol at the swine flu thing, you obviously had intuition that I had something wrong though . Not even I knew .

We must get the painting finished today. Well, in the hallway and new loft room. We have mostly touching up to do, bit of sanding, bit of caulking where i missed some bits, but a couple of big jobs today - paint the hallway cupboard doors, which means emptying them first (i should be doing that instead of being on here and glossing 3 doors and door frames. Luckily DD is having a sleepover tonight at a friends so she will only be in briefly and then whatever is not done can be finished tonight. All the gloss (or eggshell) needs doing this morning though, so we can have it dry enough by the time the carpets are laid tomorrow. Rush Rush. but our friends have been here helping and they have been absolute stars.

Laugs - I breastfed in the Close sling fine, it also has an extra piece of 'security' material that wraps around the baby when in the sling and I found that if I had DS out of the sling, this piece of material was a great size for putting over him/me s not showing all to the world!!

Scarlotti - I can't believe your bro & sil - how rude?! A few of my presents I'm giving for christmas are one's I have been given but will never use - posh soaps for MIL, a compact mirror for Step-grandmother. I simply cannot afford to buy presents for everyonewhen we have thing sat in the 'christmas box' that would be apropriate, had to knock some people off the christmas list as it is. Can people not just be grateful??

Talking presents - so at my mother, every year she asks for something for christmas, this year she asked me (a few weeks ago) for a chalkboard for her kitchen, our local cookshop sells them, so bought her one, to be told yesterday by my brother that she's also asked my sister to get her one, who has and has given it to her as a late birthday present, but mum not bothered to tell me. Last year she wanted some coasters (farm animal ones for kitchen again), bought her some from the DCs, she'd also asked someone else and bought herself some, couldn't be bothered with taking ours back so she ended up with 3 lots - think i'll just buy her vouchers in future!

Got my 36 week appt at Chipping Norton this aft, really looking forward to it and hoping that all will be ok so I can go there. Tho I remembered last night I still haven't done my birth plan, ought to write something in it today before I go I suppose!!

Made mincemeat, 2 lots of Kytes cookies, melting moments (DD's favourite) and fish stew yesterday. SIL came round with our nephew and house was disgusting, all sorts all over the kitchen floor -very embarrassed but hey!

Going to pop into work this morning, have some things to pick up from the book club they do (don't know if some of you have it too, think it's the 'book people' and another one, but they have some real bargains!) , also going to take some of Kytes cookies in for them!

Hope all's ok with Erika

Pavlov - goodluck for your DH.

Have a good day everyone

tigger32 · 27/10/2009 07:50

Morning all,

wizzy Irritable uterus does sound uncomfortable, still, hopefully not too long now!!

I have another full day planned with my boys, its only day 2 of the holidays and I'm already regreting arranging too much!
Still slightly easier day tomorrow.

Any news on erika?

Isn't it about time we had another baby??? Anyone??

Trikken · 27/10/2009 08:15

I wish I could provide the next baby, keep feeling crampy but then it eases off and nothing comes of it. think Dh is getting a little impatient now too - like i can just squeeze her out whenever I like. and Dh's annoying friend was around again last night making annoying man jokes like " If men had babies it would be five minutes in our lunch break, and we wouldnt complain." I told him to stop with the jokes if he wanted to keep his testicles.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2009 08:17

trikken at horrid friend, he is very lucky he has not been castrated, thats for absolute certainty! I had a friend who was just like that til his wife had a baby recently, then he changed his tune, he is now much more in awe of what us women go through

scarlotti · 27/10/2009 08:22

Morning everyone

pavlov I am impressed at how quickly you've managed to decorate the loft, I know only too well how much is involved in it all - the preparation stages seem to take an age. Hope you manage to get your cupboards done today
Fingers crossed for your DH with the job, it does sound very promising.

kyte I think maybe my brother and sil are the type of people you describe and took offence at it not being new, although having said that her Mum went to an NCT nearly new sale and bought her something from there!
Anyway, I am going to let it go and not get stressed about it. I am embarrassed that I was 'outed' but didn't mean any offence and my neice seemed happy with what she got!

wizzy feel for you and your irritable uterus, must be very frustrating to feel every day like something might be starting only to end up not.

beepbeep we have a Christmas box too! Can see how you'd be cross at your Mum - let's hope she gets use out of 2 chalk boards

belgianbun hope your appointments don't get you down too much and you get the intervention you want.

Trikken · 27/10/2009 08:23

yes, he is very lucky. he's a 'eternal teenager' type, seemingly happy to have no responsibililty and not having to grow up. am trying to not let what he says get to me but it does.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2009 08:30

scarlotti - we have had a lot of friends helping over the last few weeks. And we have spent a lot of time! The builder suggested we use trade paint and leave it 6 months as the new plaster will continue to soak everything up for 6months, so we have done that, used non-vinyl and then we will put a much better paint on. Although it looks good as it is!

I found the hallway was the worst to do to be honest. The loft was simple, time consuming, but simple, involved large quantities of paint and a lot of slapping it up at first! The hallway on the other hand, involved, cleaning, sanding, filling, sanding, undercoating, sanding, more filling, more sanding, long drops, cutting in around coving on Huge ceilings! I have some tall friends, not afraid of heights, and friends who are anal about cutting in!

Trikken · 27/10/2009 08:33

ah but with anal friends at least you know that you're gonna have a good looking hallway in the end, Pav.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2009 08:33

Weird - i have a fever! But I feel ok. Well, i feel tired, sore back and a bit hot faced, but not feverish. But temp is 39.2 Very strange. I shall go drink some more liquid!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 27/10/2009 08:37

oh yes, I love my anal friends, they were the ones I invited first and said 'would you like to cut in the white paint on the new staircase, you need to be extra careful - they brought their own brushes! Oh and another friend used to be a carpet fitter, he doesn't have all the tools to fit ours unfortunately, but he spent all day with the tools he does have removing our old carpet, all the runner things, spikes, nails, tacks, and sorted out floorboards out so the other carpet will lay perfectly. He was in his element all day! Then he went around with white paint brush and touched up all the very high places we can't reach/see! He is back today to do some more of that!

Anyway, talking of which I am off to make DH a cuppa for his return from taking DD to nursery, then clearing out the cupboards to paint them.

Have a good day everyone xx
