aww, Erika your brother sounds lovely. i get to have a nice goss with my sister tomorro if the baby hasnt come by then, as she's down from portsmouth for the weekend which is nice. seeing MW in an hour.

ErikaMaye · 06/11/2009 13:22

Skorpion good news on your iron levels Are you taking tablets? And at the over heard conversation!

Lissy biggest of big hugs hun. X

Kyte ohhh thinking of you today!!!

Comma I think Esme is really lovely Ella is nice too. Erika is even better DP and I were (at first) the only ones who liked Bryn ? his mum was determined for us to change it to Jack, and my Dad just shrugged ? but they?ve come round. I?m sure once your beautiful baby is here, it will just feel natural for people to call them the name you?ve chosen. Don?t let their opinions sway you ? its your baby!

Sleepless I missed Flashforward Was it a good episode?? I might have to youtube it later!

Wizzy 49 days?! Crap, don?t tell me that!!!

Trikken hope your MWs appointment goes well.

Fingers crossed to all of you whose due date it is.

I was having contractions intermittently for hours last night ? they finally stopped at 3am, and I didn?t know whether to be relieved or disappointed! Had a few more today though, so am hoping something is happening at least. We?re going to a friends for dinner tonight, and I really cannot be arsed They?re lovely people, but am so tired after last night?

VenusInfers · 06/11/2009 13:28

Ooh Erika sounds like you might be jumping the queue! We promise not to mind! Glad your brother is being so nice to you.

Hobnob like the sound of your consultant MW. Very sensible, and great that they are listening to you and not trying to bounce you into undergoing a proceedure you don't want.

Trikken · 06/11/2009 13:31

Erika I used to feel liket that when contractions stopped and started, now im just like bring it on!!! im ready.

Fubble · 06/11/2009 13:42

Afternoon folks,

hope everyone is doing ok. I'm supposedly due today too but nothing is going on at all.

Had appt at the hospital this morning, where everything is still looking good and then midwife "offered a sweep" - how kind although to be fair I don't think either of us enjoyed it. However, back to the waiting game - failing which booked in for induction on 18th so it's nice to have another date to aim for - and by aim for I mean avoid by going naturally!

So a weekend of curries, long walks, bumpy car rides - and I suppose some sex if it comes to it ! ;) Busy weekend ahead.

Hope all those passing their due dates are doing ok - keep smiling folks, each day must be bringing us closer to meeting our babies....right....mustn't it

Scarlotti I seem to remember we have DSs with similar birthdays. My DS1 was born 5-6 weeks before Christmas too and that year I did nothing beforehand about Christmas and ... this year I have done nothing either! I just cannot mentally get my head to Christmas. DS1's birthday is next Monday (2 days after my due date) and he's having a party tomorrow and
I can only focus on that. I can't think about Christmas so no doubt I'll be in the same situation again: everyone got presents from either Woolworths, Cargo or Millets after DS1 was born (the best shops in Witney as we lived in Oxfordshire then). This year it might be amazon and Asda! Hey ho. I can't change myself into a sensible person. I have no common sense!

DS2 and I are cleaning the house ready for DS1's party tomorrow.

Thanks girls! Just popping in, have locked myself in bathroom to escape mil--will answer to all posts tonight, spit twice and die.
Esme it is then. Poor little thing will have to deal with it, but maybe is good for building character. 2nd is Sophie, so she can always use that too. I haven't told anybody either, yesterday was 1st time to try- and the bewildered looks...her sister is Flora, and everybody thinks it is nice, which is sort of nice. But sod them, quite right. And yes, I got the name from Salinger- such a lovely story. Flora is from turn of the screw, but I ain't gonna tell her that.

ursigurke · 06/11/2009 14:43

Hi Ladies,
thanks for all those lovely messages, and special thanks to BBL for the great poem.
It's really incredible how quick the day passes when all you do is breastfeeding, trying to put her into bed to take a nap yourself, getting her back up as it seems that only sleeping on your breast is nice and all that over and over again.
My parents are coming tomorrow night and will bring more foooooooood. I just need to make sure there is still some space left in the freezer.
I hope you are all well, and for those already overdue, I hope labour will start soon!

Trikken · 06/11/2009 14:50

just got back from mw appt, everything good. she booked me in for a sweep for mon morning, and if that doesnt work am booked for an induction on sun 15th. you are right fubble, feels better to have a date to work towards. feels like walking through a seemingly endless tunnel otherwise.

wook · 06/11/2009 15:14

Tabby I love the name Elodie from your list, so pretty but not twee.

I have two sisters, named Georgia and Florence, and I really wish they had different names as I would have happily used either for this dd!

Fubble it's true, every day is another step closer...

I have been waiting for the midwife to come over all day and am now getting a bit
It's my fault as I should ahve booked a 40 week appt after my 36 week one but didn't as I assumed dd would have arrived, as ds was early. Now there are no appts to see midwife in clinic until 11th December!!! So they said I could have a home visit and sweep today, but so far, no knocks at the door.

weston · 06/11/2009 15:24

I can't believe how strangy peoples reactions to names are, we are calling our daughter lexi and when we have said it to some people it has been met with a few blank stares and a few oh thats interesting!! surely its not too difficult to pretend to like it even if u don't! when we called first our DD charlie my mother said 'your not going to call her that are you'!! so think u have to get thick skinned and stick to your guns! its amazing no matter what name u pick it always end up suiting them!

i love ella, my godchilds names and red is really cool, unless child is ginger!!

had bp checked and hooked up to machine and all well

really fancy a curry tonite but don't want to in case it starts anything!! think must be in minority wanting this baby to stay in!!

wook · 06/11/2009 16:20

Guess what- I have waited in ALL day for the midwife, had to chase up through medicom after three o clock and just had a call from her saying sorry no one can see me today, they are rushed off their feet and have done two homebirths and now are getting round to 'priority visits only'.

I am 40+6, have not seen a community midwife since OCTOBER 2ND (though 'fortunately' have had some monitoring in those six weeks due to mystery infection, GTT and electric shock) have no idea what state my cervix is in, what my blood pressure is, whether there is protein in my wee, whether my baby's head is engaged....

What is a priority visit exactly?????

I am so angry that I am actually now going to cry!!!!!!!!

wook · 06/11/2009 16:21

And can I just add a scream of annoyance...

aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

ErikaMaye · 06/11/2009 16:35

Wook am angry on your behalf, that sounds rediculous... Ugh Will they send someone to you over the weekend?

misssese · 06/11/2009 16:55

wook im am angry for you too!!! where do u live? i live in london and there seem to be no MW here at all!!! mine is only available on a wed afternoon and she has to see everyone in that time so people get double book or miss appointments it makes me so mad!!! Did they say when they can see you?? its frustrating that it seems the only way for people to take you seriously is to kick up a fuss!!!

beepbeep · 06/11/2009 16:58

Wook - that's shocking, I haven't seem my own MW for a while but have seen others at hospital etc. Do you have a drop-in clinic or anything you could go to?

Weston - I fancy a curry now yu've mentioned it, we have pasta and meatballs so the curry will have to wait untl another night.

Really wet and miserable here, have lit fire & have got to collect DS from nursery soon, than got some toffee apples to make.

southernbelle77 · 06/11/2009 18:32

Will try and catch up with the days posts in a mo, but just had to say that I'm a total hormonal mess crying my eyes out to Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It's about a really inspirational family and has made me realise that me getting mad at dd for no reason whatsoever when I should just be really grateful to have such a healthy and lively dd has made me cry even more!

Ok, off to catch up now!

VenusInfers · 06/11/2009 18:43

Wook What an utter ARSE. Really hope they can see you over the weekend. They must be ridiculously busy and understaffed if they have no clinic appts for a month. That's just insane.

Trikken I'm booked for a sweep on Monday too. My retired midwife mum reassures me that 90% overdue babies are born within the first week of the EDD so hoping something happens naturally over the weekend. Hope that you don't need that induction either, though it is good that they've given you an end point.

sleeplessinthecity · 06/11/2009 18:46

wook I am stunned and in utter shock...how can they be so understaffed????? am screaming on your behalf too..

erika flashforward was awesome..we sky+ so maybe its last weeks..not sure..

katster37 · 06/11/2009 18:57

Wook I am furious for you. Have you actually spoken to anyone? Have you said you haven't been seen for well over a month?? That is outrageous. I really am cross.

BBL is DS2 good at cleaning?! Aaaw, I hope the party is a success!

I have finished work!!!!! YAAAAAAAAY!!!

southernbelle77 · 06/11/2009 19:05

Wook that is dreadful. I'm so sorry to had to wait in all day and still noone came. You'd think that the fact you haven't been seen my a community midwife since early october, and are now 6 days overdue that you might class as priority. I hope all is ok and you get to see someone, or have the baby soon.

Erika that is really sweet of your brother and I'm glad that you and he are getting on so well at the moment. He sounds like he is very excited about Bryn being born.

Kaster glad you have finished work now. Hopefully you can start to relax and have a well deserved rest at last.

DH and DD have gone to fireworks. I would have loved to go with them, but there is just no way I could have stood up (especially in the torrential rain and mud) for that long! I'm about to rush upstairs and look out the window to see if I can see them - the fireworks, not dd and dh

raggie · 06/11/2009 19:31

Wecome to the world of not teaching katster - it is aMAzing

hobnob57 · 06/11/2009 19:34

I'll second that raggie

for wook

scarlotti · 06/11/2009 19:53

beepbeep am a 3rd time labour here and yes, your mw is right, stop start is definitely the case

BBL yes DS is 4 next Weds. I've booked up the party for the 15th as was presuming this one would be early, but he's not arrived yet!! As long as he's here I should be ok as will have help to sort the food and we've booked an entertainer for the kids so I don't have to do anything. Holding it in my church hall so don't have to clean either. Am just really hoping he doesn't decide to come on DS' birthday so that they at least get a day of their own as they grow up!

wook on your behalf. I don't get seen again now until 41 weeks and heavens knows if I'll be offered a sweep then.

erika glad you and your brother are having a good spell

katster37 · 06/11/2009 20:14

raggie, southern and hobnob yaaaaay, I know, I am so excited about Monday and getting up when I want!

Southern are you watching the fireworks? Loads around here, and I am being a miserable sod and wishing they would stop being so noisy!

Kyte, was thinking of you today - hope you are OK and looking forward to hearing from you!
