16 days left and they couldn't come any flipping sooner!!!!

Ninjacat · 01/11/2009 22:32

oh and Homeinthesun best of luck for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

LissyGlitter · 01/11/2009 22:34

Ooh, I am crying now! Two babies and an engagement! Congratulations everyone!

I really feel like we are really bonding on this thread, I feel like I really know you all

I've forgotten who was asking what engagement feels like, but that is how I feel too - almost like I can feel the head in my pelvis. I walk holding onto my lower bump (I have a support belt for long walks as well) as it feels like the babies weight is all down there. If i bend over, the pressure in my general undercarriage feels like the baby could just pop out. I walked to the local shop today with DP and DD and when I got back I spent about an hour on all fours or sat leaning well forward with my legs wide apart as that was the only way I felt comfy.

I'm starting to think that I could end up having an accidental vbac at this rate, the baby feels so much like she is almost out already! Does anyone know if there is a point where they will just leave you to have the baby even if you have a section booked? I've booked a section due to having a weird scar which apparently has a 9% chance of rupture, and if it does rupture it would be a proper womb splitting open massive emergency thing, but if the baby is already practically out when I get to hospital, are they likely to just let me get on with it?

We nipped into the local pub for juice for me and DD and a cheeky pint for DP on the way back from the shop, and a woman befriended me in quite a scary, yet nice way. She took one look at me and seemed to decide she wanted to be my friend. She works there and I am under orders to go in if I am ever lonely looking after the kids and she will chat to me and she wants to go on a night out when I have had the baby. All lovely, but she was a scary geordie woman who was probably halfway through her fifties and was flirting with a very drunk tattooed man at the bar. I might be being snobby here, but I found it a bit disconcerting! She was just being nice though, and I will take the new baby in to show her. DP fixed the till while we were there so they took his number and will call him if any shifts come up, which would be good.

My auntie rang me today to tell me they are raising the dead in her local graveyard and to suggest some bizarre names for the baby that she has collected from soaps. Why are so many of my family mental???

Anyway, good labour vibes to you all!

Is there a postnatal thread yet?

lucieerin · 01/11/2009 23:08

LissyGlitter, I had an ecs with my second after an emergency with my first and I went into labour at 37 weeks and wasn't booked in until 39 weeks and they just did the section then... I think in your situation unless baby was halfway out and waving at you they'd try to do a section xx

ErikaMaye · 01/11/2009 23:37

Lissy at your Aunt collecting names for you. Do share!! DPs Mum is still set on us calling the little man Jack And if he'd been a girl I don't think my mother would be giving me a moments peace until I agreed to call her Poppy!!!

FairyBex · 02/11/2009 03:44

Blimey, I miss one day and so much happens, - congrats to all

Just wondered if anyone else was awake at stupid o'clock? I'm blaming tonight's insomnia on swollen and pins n needly hands and feet. I only have random symptoms here, nothing that even suggests getting close to labour at the moment.

Comma2 · 02/11/2009 07:36

Here! It's 2:30 am, have to be up at 6, yawn. DD is sprawled all over my bed, very cute, but I am now left to roaming the house..will go back though and try again.

I got up at six to have philly on toast, nom nom nom But then everyone started getting up and am wide awake now...

For pins and needles in hands, have found that if you put your knees into a kneeling position (bringing your feet towards your bum) it eases them.

Now, I'll go through and read everything, and of course we must update our list

Is anyone else hoping to pop today?!

Trikken · 02/11/2009 07:54

I hope to pop every day. it just hasnt happened yet!

ursigurke · 02/11/2009 08:04

claire, maybe you can wear your ring on a necklace? And it's just for another couple of weeks.
I have been sleeping rather well, once again (or maybe it just seems well now). Once again, everything is very calm, no contractions in sight. After making fun of my husband who was really believing in the official due date it seems to be me who actually has problems with the wait. But he asked me yesterday what he should do today workwise. If he should still go there... It seems he didn't quite get the concept of the baby deciding and informing us on quite a short notice.
scarlotti, I really hope you will soon have good news for us.

Koumak that is the sweetest thing with your DS!! Bless him. Lucky I wasn?t there I?d have burst into very hormonal tears Bra wise ? I?ve been to get measured in two different places, both of which have been pretty useless and have told me they have no idea what size I?ll be as my ribcage as expanded so much ? am up from a 32 to a 40 Have been told to find a bra that is comfortable for now, then get re-measured when feeding is established.

Southern did your DD enjoy her sleepover?

Pavlov glad your DD settled into her new room happily ? and better sleep for you is always a plus

Tamlin he sounds so adorable. Does he like baths now? Ohh am getting jealous every time I see someone pushing a buggy At least he?s feeding regularly!

Homeinthesun thinking of you today

Kyte I?m not a big icing or marzipan fan, but doesn?t bother me to pick it off. Though if the quantity is balanced out acceptably with cake then I usually eat it Try not to let it bug you.

Trikken that?s really annoying of your MIL. Have you spoken to her about it? It can?t be good for his mental or physical development getting exactly what he wants all the time, especially if its junk food!

I dunno if what I?m feeling is baby slipping in and out of the pelvis, but it bloody well hurts! Trying to stay on my hands and knees when I can but obviously lack strength in my muscles so doesn?t work out very well. Am debating heading to antenatal class later ? maybe the walk and stress would help

Morning [yawn]. So, my first night with dd sleeping and me sleeping and all being fab in her new room. well it did not last! she came in at what i took to be 6am or so, dh did not even stir after getting home at 1:15am, and she was like 'its not morning yet mama but i am awake, i am coming in with you ok?' 'ok babe' and rolled over 'i love you mama, i love you daddy' which is her way of saying wake up, i am not sleepy. Cue attempting to get her to sleep for half hour, no luck so we get up, dd and i.

Only to find it is 4:50am!!!! WTF! 'back to bed now little madam' 'ok mama i am going i am going, its not morning then?' and scampers up the stairs to her new bedroom!

She was down with me on the sofa half hour later due to having a cough that probably woke her in the first place. Went to sleep at 6:30am, woke at 7:30am 'i am tired, but it is morning, so i can't sleep now' and started crying. I tried to explain she could go back to sleep and she did not get it, night was gone so time to be awake!!!

I am meant to be taking her to nursery as we speak. She is in her bedroom playing very well, and I am still in 'bed' on the sofa. DH is comatosed. I cannot be arsed today.

Baby is moving a lot, hitting my urethra and causing lots of pain, and making me go a lot and dh finally thinks baby has dropped a little, but i do not think he will be arriving today !

WOW! Huge congratulations to fruitpastels, helips and claire!! I'm so excited for you all. Helips you've quite reassured me as my last labour was 37 hours. I'll go for a nice quick one this time too Fruit happy birthday to DS!

Today is DD's birthday. We had a little party for her on Saturday (just family, I was too tired) - well, actually we had the busiest day ever with about 12 hours of activities until I fell into bed (before DD) at 9pm. I've been exhausted ever since! Don't really know what to do with her today. I think we might go to the cinema and then potter round town for a bit and go to a museum.

Is anyone else finding bed really uncomfortable and actually quite painful? I am gutted - I normally love going to bed! I have to turn in stages which really hurts. If I stay on one side for too long, I get very achy around the ribs. I feel like a rotisserie chicken. It's rubbish!

Lissy that Geordie barmaid does sound a bit scary!

Erika If you can make it to the ante natal class I always find it does me the world of good to get out of the house. Just take it easy though.

ErikaMaye · 02/11/2009 08:39

Laugs happy birthday to your DD Have you tried putting another duvet under the sheet in bed and using a wedge pillow? It has made sleeping possible for me.

Okay so here's the question - the hydrotherapy I was told I could have almost immediately by my booking hospital, I have now been told by my local hospital that I need a land assessment before I can have a pool assessment (even though they've already seen me ) and that it will take about three weeks to process. Which is helpful. So do I stay up and wait for them to call to tell me this again, or should I go back to bed?
