Ahhh Helips missed your news! Congrats that's so lovely! Our first girl!!!

Helips has had her little girl
Her news has sent us all into a whirl
Two babies in one day, that's just so sweet
Who's baby is next for us to meet?
It won't be mine, that's for sure
Before I have mine, there will be many more

Oh dear. I don't think I'll ever be a published poet!

Wonderful Fruitpastel and Helips and two great poems Becky.

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 01/11/2009 19:52

fruitpastels and helips YEY!!!! congratulations! Fantastic news. I am so so so pleased that you both had nice easy births and that babies are feeding well. Can't wait to hear more news

Big hugs to you both, and to your lovely son and daughter!

eeyore2 · 01/11/2009 19:59

Wow, congratulations fruit and helips and what lovely news claired.
So sorry to hear your sad news turtle - have you made your decision? For what it's worth I would try to go if it was me.
Pavlov I'm so sorry to hear about what a tough time you and your DH are going through with his unemployment. It must be very hard for both of you. At least soon you will have a new little baby to focus on.
I am also getting lots of braxton hicks but nothing that is settling into anything resembling a regular thing. Feeling a bit miserable as it is making me much less enthusiastic about getting out and about as I just feel quite vulnerable. 29 weeks today and my fear is that that it's just going to go on like this, one contraction every 45 mins or so, for days and days with nothing actually happening. Oh well. On the other hand I pursuaded DH to have a nice hot bubble bath with me earlier this evening and that was bliss. He's more of a practical person and not really the TLC-giving type so it was a really nice and relatively rare 'the two of us' moment.

Comma2 · 01/11/2009 20:06

Massive congratulations, Fruit and Helips
Sounds like you both had good labours and we are sooooo waiting for the stories!!
Yay! BABIES

Congrats Claire ! All the best!

Comma2 · 01/11/2009 20:07

....so btw, are you two saying they actually do come out at some point?

turtle23 · 01/11/2009 20:13

congratulations fruit and helips!!! It's going to be all go on the babies, now, isn't it?!!

Congrats to you too, Claire.

I really must start cleaning this place....when does nesting happen again?

hobnob57 · 01/11/2009 20:20

Flip, I catch up on this thread, go and have a toastie and half an hour later there is an engagement and two births! WOOOHOOO to Claire, helips and FP!!!! You guys must be floating on cloud 9

And well done becky

Can't wait for the birth stories.

More doom and gloom lashing rain up here. But we did make kyte's cookies today (mmmmm) and had a roast at the ILs so not all bad.

BHs seem to be tailing off again. The past 2 mornings I've woken at my usual need to pee time of 7:30 but these past 2 times I've been really sore low down across the top of my pelvis and unable to move very well - is that what engagement feels like? - until I lower myself carefully backwards onto the loo like a proper pg woman using the sink and radiator to help and then once finished I'm back to normal again - has baby just popped out again? No idea what it's all about, but it doesn't feel nice. Despite being a 2nd timer, I still have no real experiential notion of what exactly people mean when they say 'engaged' or 'discomfort' or 'gave birth' since I bypassed a lot of it last time. Is engagement massively uncomfortable and sore like your hip joints can't work because something's in the way? Do you have to feel this uncomfortable before labour starts? That's why I'm kind of liking the painful contractions thread because people are doing their best to describe things vividly. Anyway, whatever is going on I'm still hedging my bets that I'll be pregnant on the 21st for a kids' birthday party in the morning and our neighbours' leaving bash in the evening

PS. (TMI alert, but it amused me) I had the ultimate conflict of interest earlier on - a massive BH during a bowel movement. Well weird - a real Durgh moment!

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 01/11/2009 20:25

claire meant to say also - congratulations to you too! Got a date set? how exciting! DH proposed to me when i was pg, he said, me becoming the mother of his child made him realise he had already left it too long to ask (aw so romantic i had to say yes really )

claired21 · 01/11/2009 20:40

Thanks everyone, pav thinking of October next year hopefully! Can't wait.

Oh yeah, and he said...

"You know how much I love you but you probably don't know how much I admire you and respect you. I love everything about you. (cue tears from me) I want us to have a family together (me: "we are!" looking at bump) ... I mean a big family and grow old together. Will you marry me?"

5 minutes later he checked if I'd said yes as he hadn't taken any of it in. It must be very traumatic for men to propose!

Unfortunately I still have tonight's ironing to do as last week in work starts tomorrow... but I'll be ironing with a smile on my face for a change!

lucieerin · 01/11/2009 20:42

congrats fruit, helips, fp and claire!! xx

helips · 01/11/2009 20:44

Congrats fruitpastels, who will be next I wonder!

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 01/11/2009 20:45

Aw claire thats so romantic

helips · 01/11/2009 20:50

Love the poems, thanks becky!

Hobnob, sounds like it's getting close, that's just how I felt a few days a go...good luck, I hope baby comes soon for you...am I right in thinkng you are going for a vbac or am I confusing you with someone else? Anyway, just to reassure you that you will be fine, amelia was born in just over 6 hours whereas ds was 38 resulting in cs. Not long now lovie I'm sure...

hobnob57 · 01/11/2009 20:55

Thanks helips for the reassurance. It's good to know that something might be happening, but I've felt very unlike labour is anytime soon the rest of the day, and given my family's history I'm definitely in for the long haul. I think I just need to keep very active - hard when the Atlantic seems to be trying to force its way through the windows (on the East coast!!). Yes, I'm the one hoping for a VBAC and in awe of your HVBAC. Well done girl! BTW my sister is an Amelia. For some reason her nickname was Measles, but I'm sure yours will be different

ursigurke · 01/11/2009 21:02

Wow, what news!!! Congratulations fruitpastels and helips!!!! I was really waiting to hearing from you two!
And great that you had both easy births!
I really hope I will follow soon.
claire, congratulations to you too! An autumn wedding sounds nice, I can only recommend it (it makes also things easier to organise as everything and everybody is available)

katster37 · 01/11/2009 21:09

Claired yaaaay, congrats to you too - sorry, I seem to have missed that somehow!

Am so excited by the births, wonder what will happen this week?!?! Usi I have my fingers crossed you will be soon.

I have an awful feeling it will be the first of December and I will still be here, all alone!

DH just pumping up the birthing ball as it was deflating. Think he is getting frustrated as well and keeps telling the baby to hurry up.

scarlotti · 01/11/2009 21:39

Congratulations to claire, Fruit and Helips - great news

Still here with various BH and cramps and backache going on so who knows when things will move forward, sigh. Was hoping it might happen today as it's Mum's birthday but it's not looking likely.

Ninjacat · 01/11/2009 21:49

Ah Fruit congratulations!!! a halloween baby. You'll never be stuck for party themes again. Congratulations to all of you

hobnob57 · 01/11/2009 21:49

[angry} scarlotti. Your wee one is really keeping you guessing!

Ninjacat · 01/11/2009 21:51

And Helpis a girl at last. Glad you and Amelia are well

longwayaway · 01/11/2009 22:02

Woohoo, babies!! AND an engagement! Congrats to claire on the proposal (thanks for sharing the story, so sweet!), to fruitpastels on the baby boy (name yet? not that you have to tell us!) and to helips on the first girl, not to mention a HVBAC! You must be right chuffed

Becky I am seriously impressed at how fast you come up with those rhymes.

DH is at the pub and I am going crazy cleaning the house. Midwife's coming tomorrow for a home visit and SIL the day after, not that I need any real excuse... I am in full-on nesting mode these days.

Ninjacat · 01/11/2009 22:02

And Claired huge congratulations. Your df (is that the right term now?) made me cry

Kyte Nigella does some good fruit cake cup cakes (basically boiled fruit cake) that sre not too time consuming and don't need feeding. A small batch of which could be put around the cake sans icing? Just decorate with nuts and glace fruit. I'll put the recipe up if you like.

ErikaMaye · 01/11/2009 22:22

Eek I leave for a few hours and I return to all this!!!! Congratulations all of you!! Fruit am chuffed for you, name and photos soon please!! Helips our first girl!! Amelia is such a lovely name Claired aww how romantic!!

You lot have cheeered me right now now!! Am getting rather fed up as having contractions and BHs constantly, but not regularly enough to ring the hospital. The pressure "down there" is unbelievable. Have a feeling (maybe its just wishful thinking, but who knows!) that he might be making an appearence at some point soon.

Hope you're all well
