Pav big hig for you on your mums Birthday x

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 29/10/2009 07:28

Put the laptop down ninja and force yourself to sleep. It is Essential. I hope the kids! have a great time at Legoland...

DH was meant to be going to Crealy today with DD and a friend but had to cry off due to not being anywhere near completing the presentation. It is not exactly the same as he thought, not much different but he needs to prep fully and make it as perfect as he can. He told 'friend' who got shitty at the late notice. Fair enough, but then he sent him a text saying 'how useless are you? blah blah, disappointed, last time i ever invite you out with us' really quite horrible. And calling someone who is unemployed and lacking in confidence, who is working hard to get a job 'useless' is really horrible. DH is furious.

Fruitpastels · 29/10/2009 07:29

Thanks Pav I feel like I'm getting cabin fever at the moment. Could do with some fresh air and a little walk, visiting the MW will probably finish me off! I really struggle with walking anywhere, especially visiting shops. Have my food shop delivered as of last week. I'm told my bump is very neat and I've not gained massives of weight, but on a petite frame the extra weight gain is playing havoc!

Not sure how you've managed all this DIY. I admire your efforts . Glad it's paying off and DD is a happy little girl! I'm a bit partial to pompom bears, yum, yum!!

ErikaMaye · 29/10/2009 07:33

Fruit good luck with the shopping. I tried to do some yesterday - ended up just doing a tour of cafes as I kept needing to rest People keeping saying to me how neat my bump is and how well I'm carrying the pregnancy blah blah blah - its really getting on my nerves now!!

Pavlov happy birthday to your mum, I hope you can think about her today. And your DD is so adorable, bless her!! I think I'm just going to leave it, in all honesty, its not worth it - would just lead to more shouting because I'd be in the wrong regardless. And the "friend" sounds like an arse. Give your DH a hug from me, just to shock him into smiles!!!

Ninja make the most of the peace!! I hope they have a good time.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 29/10/2009 07:47

erika i will when he wakes up! He got up really early to take a friend to hospital yesterday (having opp to remove a metal plate/screw from his femur after an accident a few years ago) and he was up late last night prepping for this interview so I thought I would be nice to him, for a change

fruit the thing with the DIY, i had no choice. It had to be done as I could not have lived here as it was. I needed to get rid of the reminders of the builders, reduce my stress, but more than that, it was dangerous with the floorboards bare, nowhere to put anything, it was not a happy place to be, so that was my spur. And now, just with new carpets down, i feel so much calmer. The rest is just window dressing so to speak. We are now living like grown ups again and can offer our family a proper home. I now have to do the court case defence for Monday, which will be a bit of a pain, but once that is done, I will have to just put it to the back until the court give us a hearing date (i am hoping in the new year, then I can deal with becoming a mum again, christmas etc in peace).

Once DDs stuff is in her room, I will take some photos and post them so you can see...i will do some before and after so you can see where we were a few weeks ago!

Morning all, hope things ok? So cross on your behalf Erika-Maye - what a horrible thing to say. Just try to rise above it and stay calmn for Bryn's arrival.

Hope something gets moving soon for you Fruit and Scarlotti. Thought we were making some progress last night after a load of floor scrubbing etc yesterday (v difficult to do when you're so massive) - had regularish contractions for about 6 hours and a v v small show - only a bit but felt like things were happening. Tried to get some rest and wondered if it was time to call the GP's ready to have DD, but after a mostly sleepless night it has all settled down again.

Knackered now, especially as DD has been ill with cough and vomiting for teh last five nights in a row, so will have to persuade DD that a lazy day under teh duvet watching TV is good fun. Have strict instructions from DH not to move or do any more housework, otherwise if it is coming soon I'll be too tired to push it out!

Anyway, hope we get some good baby news on the thread soon! x

katster37 · 29/10/2009 08:22

Morning all!

Wook totally agree about the world feeing scarier with a bump to protect. I seem to panic when I cross the road, because I know I can't suddenly sprint if I need to!

Pav Glad DD likes new pink door! Sounds lovely, I love the feeling when the house feels ready and you can just enjoy it! I keep reaching a stage of acceptability and then DH will go and do something outrageous, like use a plate or something

Fruit Really hope your walk around town leads to a bit of movement.

I had to get up early as was leaking. Felt like a v slow trickle, but fairly sure not waters or anything. Does anyone else get a increase in 'discharge'? Just really watery and clear? Have put a pad on just in case it actually is anything exciting, although at only 37 weeks and first baby I think that's extremely unlikely. Unfortunately, as I am becoming pretty impatient!

Usi how is the cold? There seem to be a lot going around, but luckily they all seem fairly short-lived, so hopefully yours won't last more than a day.

HI to everyone else!

Ninjacat · 29/10/2009 08:26

Been having fun comparing family star signs at www.babycentre.co.uk/horoscopes/

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 29/10/2009 08:31

blimey all these DH/DPs advising rest, wish DH would. He does not really get how tired i am. He waits until I feel rough before suggesting I rest, otherwise he gets a bit resentful I am not doing anything. I do understand as there is so much to do, but I would like to just slow down and have him tell me he understands and that I should get my energy up. He seems to think the baby will be late and we have plenty of time and I might surprise myself and have more energy than I realise next week .

ursigurke · 29/10/2009 09:15

Katster, thanks for asking. My cold didn't really change, but at least it didn't get worse and it is really mild. Normally I wouldn't even bother. So I hope, if I continue drinking a lot, I will be fine in the evening. I just don't want it to get worse.
And about your question: I'm having a lot of discharge too, think it is normal. It doesn't smell and as you said, it's quite watery. I'm having my daily spoonful of linseeds and I think, that makes it actually "worse". This German midwife-guru recommends it exactly for that reason. This baby should just slip out

tasjaSAmuminSA · 29/10/2009 09:31

Hi there to all the ladies

Have been catching up the past hour or so! WOW!

Please tell me where I can find the bloody energy fairy! I admire all of you who can still bake cookies and muffins and make food and decorate! How do you do it?

I'm so tired. Just took DD to school this morning and lying in bed so far Mnetting.

Am VERY EXCITED!!!! Tonight it is DD's first concert! She is a flower! Can't wait to go and watch! Just glad I don't have to run up and down! So glad I went on maternity leave 2 weeks ago!

Last night DH had a laugh at me! At 1 in the morning I got up and made myself some tea and a hotdog, I was so hungry. Can't stop eating, am feeling hungry the whole time. Probably making up for the last 3 weeks or so that I didn't eat much because of brongitis and vomiting (sorry if TMI).

Well, hope we get some good news soon .... it's time we get some new babies on here!!

Enjoy your day ladies!

hobnob57 · 29/10/2009 09:44

Welcome to all the new babies about to arrive today (....right?!)

I knackered myself yesterday with my long walk, spending the afternoon making beef cobbler (I thought casseroles were easy?), going for a swim and then yoga. I konked out on the sofa during the news ans woke up at 1:20. Didn't sleep well after that.

I LOVED my swim. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised at how I managed cardiovascularly, I was able to keep up with the grannies pretty well . But getting out was a huge issue - whales are NOT designed for land living.

So I'm off into town today, kind of delaying things on MN for a while whilst I work out what I need to bring. Pelvis is fragile today after yesterday's exertions so will bring my belt. And litre of water. And snacks. Where's that rucksack? I bet I don't last long and give up after 2 shops. I hate shopping!

morning all, nothing mew to report here, apart from being worried about swine flu as dh came back from work at eleven last night saying that he had to send someone home on his section as they have swine flu and that he now has the same symptoms. really helped me sleep.

helips · 29/10/2009 11:17

tigger good luck to your dsd today, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

pavlov your place sounds amazing, definately put some pictures up so that we can have a nose! Hope you get to put your feet up now.

erika sorry your having to deal with such negative comments from your mum but like Kyte said, could it be because she feels nervous for you? I know my mum worries about me giving birth again and I don't think the worrying ever stops for them. Sure she'll be a lot better once Bryn arrives and she can be the doting grandmother!

Well, I feel a lot better today thank god. Back is better, no more sickness and upset tum, think this baby might stay put for a little longer yet! Got my mums 60th birthday party on Saturday so would like baby to stay in until then!

Hope everyone else is ok, i'm off to cook a casserole to bung in the freezer, couldn't face cooking yesterday so need to make up for it today!

HomeintheSun · 29/10/2009 11:24

Morning all, for the last two nights I've slept quite well, I think it's cause DH has been sleeping in the spare room, it's thunderstorm season over here and the dog crys because he's scared so DH takes him into the spare room so I can get some sleep (love my DH). Woke up this morning with My DS in bed with me telling me "wake up mummy, I want a wee" we've been shopping and he's been really good although he's just been picking his nose and giving me his boggies and just peed all over the toilet, floor and bin.

katster37 the increased discharge is normal and I too have been rushing to the loo everytime I feel it thinking that it's the start of something, I've got 6 day till my due date and the midwife says they'll let me go 10 days over.

Hope everyone has a good day.

ErikaMaye · 29/10/2009 11:54

Pavlov really looking forward to the photos I feel almost like my rooms had a make over and am waiting to see the results [hgin] Love the name change by the way. And I hope your DH clocks on to how tired you are soon. Have you tried that thing about getting them to walk round with the weight equivelent in a rucksack on their front?? Make sure you rest up - That's an order!!!

Tabby sorry to hear things started and stopped, but hopefully they'll start up again soon Enjoy your duvet day!!

Ninja I had a look at that and have been informed that we have possibly the worst combination going I'm Taurus, DP is Aquarius and Bryn will be a Scorpio.

Katster increase in discharge is totally normal. Only if it smells / looks different (sorry!) should you be worried. Panty liners are good if you're not already using them. OR it could be your waters and you could be skipping the queue

Tasja aww I hope your DD enjoys her concert, bless her

Beliganbun hope it goes well with the physcologist - they tend to advice against a lot of people having CS, simply on a time / money issue!! If you decide that is trully want you want they should listen though. I hope your DD feels better soon.

Helips glad you're feeling better, hope your mum enjoys her birthday if I forgot to say it before then!!

Thank you all again for being so kind about everything. I don't know quite what is going on here but am trying very hard to stay calm and ignore as much of it as I can. What would I do without Mumsnet?

Hope you all are feeling good

scarlotti · 29/10/2009 14:35

Hi All

Glad to hear most are feeling well, sorry for not replying to any specifics but as my folks are here now it's difficult to find the time to log on so a mammoth catch up each time!

Fruit how are you doing?

Think my plug has come away here so hoping that things rev up again and get going. Just put a casserole in the oven for tea so everyone will get fed if i have to disappear!

Koumak · 29/10/2009 15:12

Hasn?t really had time to read any of the posts. Just logged on to see if there was any news with Scarlotti or Fruitpastels and was there somebody else?

Scarlotti something is definitely happening then! I hope it?s not long. Good luck.

I just got back from my ?leaving? lunch at work and have an hour or so left at my desk and then last day tomorrow and that?s it.

Hope the ones wanted out get going soon and the ones not ready quite yet stay put!

And great to hear from old friends homeinthesun and belgianbun

tigger32 · 29/10/2009 15:17

Hello all,

Helips thanks for the good luck wishes, he went to theatre at 1pm so won't hear anything until at least 5pm. He did phone me this morning though and was very chatty (he was excited because he had sky tv in his room and a teapot!) Hope your mum enjoys her party on Saturday.

erika at your mum, I think the others are right though and she is just feeling very nervous for you.

Kaster I too have had increased discharge, I saw the midwife today and it showed in my urine (can't remember what as) but she said it was normal for 3rd trimester.

Welcome back to all the returners

ErikaMaye · 29/10/2009 15:19

Scarlotti keep us updated squeals with excitment

Koumak hope you enjoyed your lunch

I'm in a rather hyperactive mood, though trying to calm down or I know there will be a big dip later.

I think baby has definately dropped somewhat as can breathe a lot easier and he's now kicking rather lower than his normal favourite spot

VenusInfers · 29/10/2009 15:27

Hi All!

Wow, things moving even faster than normal here. Ya miss one day...

preggoK8, browntrout, homeinthesun welcome!

comma such great news that you've felt your baby flip. What is the latest?

tigger I hope all went well with your SFs operation today. Fingers crossed he's soon feeling much better.

trekken really hope your DP isn't passing on the flu to you and the family. that would be particularly bad timing.

Come on scarlotti and fruitpastels! It's been ages since the last baby. We're all thinking of you!

Hobnob, beef cobbler sounds yum, but if you want an easy stew try this one -

serves 6-8
Heat 2tblsp oil in casserole pan, seal 1.5kg shin of beef (or similar cut) briefly on all sides. Take out of pan and add
1 large chopped onion
1lb chunky cut carrots
6 whole, peeled cloves of garlic
Once the onions have started to colour, add 2 tblsp of flour, 1 tbsp tomato puree. Stir through, then put meat back in.
Pour over 700ml guinness (or ale of your choice) and stir.
Stuff in a bouquet garni ( consisting of 3 bay leaves, 2 sprigs rosemary, sprig of thyme, fresh parsley and 3 strips of orange peel in an ideal world, but whatever you have to hand), season, cover with greaseproof paper and then put the lid over.
Put in over 150C/300F/Gas 2 for 1 1/2 hours
Take the bouquet garni out before serving with a nice dollop of mash.
Really is fantastically tasty, and freezes brilliantly.

pav So pleased for you that you've got the carpets down and DD moved into her new room. I totally understand the relief that comes from having a habitable house back again. Although not as major as your alterations, breaking the back of the DIY work here really helped me to relax and begin to look forward to the baby's arrival. I hope your DP lets you enjoy the (relative) peace. A couple of years ago my poor sister had delays with the building of their extension and ended up bringing her first baby home to a house without a functioning kitchen or hot water! Who needs that kind of stress?

No real developments here, just loads more BH when I stand up and move around. I expect my EDD of Sunday to have been and gone before my little boy makes his appearance as he still doesn't seem to have even engaged properly. Sigh. Doesn't he know that I'm ready? At this rate I'm going to have to clean the house all over again before he shows up! Think I'll have to join the 'hot bath and pint sip of gin' brigade..

hobnob57 · 29/10/2009 16:01

I'm officially broken after 4 hours in town!

I did manage to get my neice some Walker storybooks with DVDs for £1.99 in The Works though which I'm really chuffed at. DD got these last Christmas from someone and LOVES them. My utmost favourite is Some Dogs Do.

I also managed to be interviewed by the local paper re. the new shopping centre opening and have my belly touched by a giant Scotsman on stilts. I think I win the prize for the most surreal morning!

I DIDN'T manage to get anyone else's Christmas presents nor (I remember as I type) to take back some duplicate books I bought in WHSmiths before finding the bargains. Grrr.

I got some proper raspberry leaf tea too. The capsules I have are nearly finished and they don't seem to do much any more (at 36 weeks they really set off the BHs!) so I'll see if that makes any difference.

Thanks venus for your recipe! I love finding people who love to cook. I've just never had time for it to enjoy it properly. Will try that recipe next week. I'm too banjaxed to think of what to do tonight. Might have to be sausage and mash, or DD's favourite which is essentially tomato and mozarella pasta.

Trikken · 29/10/2009 16:13

Venus yes, would be bad timing, but i guess there is never really a good time for swine flu. am hoping that i may have had it already as i was really bad with flu a while ago.

hobnob am impressed with the four hour shopping trip, im lucky if i can last going round tesco.

Have just made another double batch of cookies, lol. can you tell we love them kyte?

Am tired now, keep having to rest after each chore, even doing washing-up is taking it out of me.
