VenusInfers the casserole sounds lovely I'll have a go at that.

Koumak I hope you had a good time at your leaving lunch and enjoy the little bit of time before your little one arrives.

Sorry in advance if TMI but I've had some straw coloured stuff which I think is discharge but I've had so much today I'm on my 4th panty liner of the day and I'm feeling a little sore from wiping so much when I go in the loo. Any ideas ladies.

Trikken · 29/10/2009 16:18

I dont want to worry you but I thought amniotic fluid was more straw coloured, especially if there is a lot of it, maybe call mw to check?

ErikaMaye · 29/10/2009 16:24

Hobnob four hours is impressive, I take my hat off to you!!! And if you're having bangers and mash could you serve up an extra helping? Have been craving mash and gravy all day Also yes, you do win the most surreal day!!!

HomeintheSun sorry no ideas, have a browse of the pregnancy threads maybe?

My belly is hard as a rock again, seems almost constant recently! Wish it would actually be a sign of something though...

HomeintheSun · 29/10/2009 16:28

oh crap, thaks Trikken I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so will say something then. baby is due on the 4th but dh wants her to be late so it'll get him out of doing something at work that would mean he'd have to do 7 days of 12 hour shifts 2 weeks after his paternity leave finishes, which would not be good for any of us.

Can I just not find my last post or did semi-functional connection not post it?Anyway,
venus thanks for asking...I waltzed unannounced into doc's office and they were so kind as to check: baby is back in head-down position and csec is off! Cx still 2 cm and not effaced, so prob will go over dd. What a relief; I just hope now I won't be punished for ungracefully dealing with situation by huge tears etc...after hearing all the advantages of csec I am actually a bit scared of nat lab, which I wasn't before. Still don't want csec though, so very happy.
Have huge wave of panic every time baby moves now.

scalotti yey!! Crossing my fingers you'll be done being pregnant very soon!!

Will now go search for Kyte's cookies....they are making international waves!

I hate the financial situation right now. Have just lent mum £100 out of my savings box so she has some money for petrol and food for the next month. Dad is finding out tomorrow if he keeps his job. UGH. Just UGH. I know there is not point being annoyed really, but I am.

Comma yey for baby being the right way down, that's fab news!!

Kyte is it really uncommon? Since I came onto MN I never really contemplated tearing during childbirth... Am so worried about tearing badly, especially as I'm small!

browntrout · 29/10/2009 18:10

evening to all. Had MW appointment today and all fine so far. Head 2/5s engaged so clearly in right direction although with 2nd babies I understand they can slip in an out so maybe it's not an indication of anything very much. Am also suffering with piles this week which is annoying and really painful. Am doing all I can to try and ease them obviously going to get worse in labour. Just another pregnancy delight I suppose.... Hope everyone else is feeling ok. We should start getting some more movement in some of these early Nov babies y the weekend shouldn't we? How exciting!

ursigurke · 29/10/2009 18:16

homeinthesun, I hope you have already called hospital/midwife and got some reassuring news.

comma, great news. I think to keep it's head down, you should try to be on all 4 a lot and also leaning forward when you are sitting. The knees have to be lower than your hips. I think it really works well on a gym ball or on a turned chair, so you can lean on/over the chair back

Erica, hope your dad will keep his job and the financial situation will get better.
Speaking of money? I suppose, in England you are getting some money when having a child. Do you have to apply for it? And how?

Luckily I was able to control my cold and it didn't really "break out", but considering the amount I had been drinking today, I will probably spend the night on the loo.
Had a couple of painful moments today, normal BHs I think, but they are either just a couple of seconds or really long, plus strange backpain which lasted definitely longer than just a minute. So I don't know, shouldn't contractions go around your whole body?
Anyway, I guess, I'm really in my final days now. Hopefully the midwife is going to check my cervix tomorrow.
Ah, and had a very expensive pineapple-orange juice and bought a fresh pineapple too which will partly end on a homemade pizzalike thing, partly as dessert. Or maybe I should have a Pina Colada in Hot bath?

VenusInfers · 29/10/2009 18:48

comma thanks for the update, that's brilliant news. So much for it being too late for the baby to turn him/herself round again!

helips · 29/10/2009 18:54

browntrout I too am suffering with the dreaded piles, they are not nice are they? My midwife said they will probably get worse after the delivery, great! I am also 2/5ths engaged but she said that because it's second pregnancy the baby's head can float in and out of the pelvis so doesn't mean much.

Tigger let us know how your dsd is, hope he feels much better soon so that he can enjoy his sky tv!

comma that is great news about the baby turning! I know what you mean about being nervous about natural birth now but at least you will be up and about quicker and who knows, you might have a really easy birth.

Ds' new bedroom furniture arrived today and it looks gorgeous. I am so excited about moving him into his new room at the weekend and sorting out the nursery for this little one. Just hope bubba doesn't make an appearance before then!

Am contemplating doing Kytes cookies seeing as they seem to be going down so well! God knows where the receipe is though, will have to have a scan through when I get a mo. Mind you, my appetite has completely gone and I have hardly eaten a thing today, not sure whether it is down to the sickness bug I had yesterday or just a pregnancy thing. Oh well, I'm sure the baby is getting enough and I have been such a pig lately it will probably do me some good!

Fruitpastels · 29/10/2009 19:01

Ladies, Here is Kyte's recipe.

Millies Style Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

125g butter, softened
100g light brown soft sugar
125g caster sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
175g self-raising flour
50g cocoa
½ tsp salt
200g chocolate chips (we did half milk, half white choc drops)

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4.
  1. Cream butter and sugars, once creamed, combine in the egg and vanilla.
  1. Sift in the flour, cocoa and salt, then the chocolate chips.
  1. Roll into walnut size balls, and squish / flatten (if you do bigger sizes add a little more cooking time)
  1. Place on ungreased baking paper. If you want to have the real Millies experience then bake for just 7 minutes, till the cookies are just setting - the cookies will be really doughy and delicious. Otherwise cook for 10 minutes until just golden round the edges.
  1. Take out of the oven and leave to harden for a minute before transferring to a wire cooling rack.
wook · 29/10/2009 19:06

Ninja great astrological link- it made everything sound pretty good in the family unit- dh (Cancer) caring for everyone and dcs vulnerable depths, me (Aries- not exactly renowned for masses of positive traits either ) providing, er, birthday cakes and fun outings and ds (Leo) and dd (to be a Scorpio) getting on like a house on fire. Hooray!

Comma great news

Ursigurke could these be your first twinges? I walked a fair way today in a bid to get baby moving down again but I am not getting any signs of her wanting to arrive on time. I'll join you in a bathtime pina colada!!!

Helips our nursery furniture comes tomorrow so will be joining you in a weekend of room sorting, I'm really looking forward to putting the clothes and nappies away, getting the mobile up etc!

wook · 29/10/2009 19:07

Ooh brilliant, thanks for the biscuit recipe again Fruitpastels- how are things today?

Fruitpastels · 29/10/2009 19:11

I'm still here! MW wouldn't examine me to check if things are progressing. I think I've gone past caring today. I managed to go to a couple of shops this afternoon and the change of scene has lifted my mood. I should sleep well tonight. Scarlotti Hope things are on the move again for you.

Comma What a clever baby! So pleased for you

So tired, need to have some dinner and a hot bath. Have been contemplating a hot curry Sex is out of the question, my bits can't even cope with the thought of it

Fruitpastels · 29/10/2009 19:15

All this talk of alcohol has got me craving! Pina colada would be bliss

southernbelle77 · 29/10/2009 19:27

Just sending a quick update before reading everything as need to get it off my chest...

Saw consultant (same horrible one as last time) who has caused me such considerable pain I am in absolute agony She examined me which although I know she needed to do, it has really aggrivated my pelvis where she forced my legs up and apart more than should have gone (at least that is how it felt). Apparently I'm not ready to be induced and so she won't do anything for at least another week. I was in total melt down in there, mostly to do with the physcial pain but also the emotional stress of it too. I was told I would be induced next week, but now I have to wait til next Thurs to see her again, let alone have anything happen. Seeking a second opinion (even dh thought she was a hard hearted bitch, and he is the most tolerant person ever!) if I can as it can't do any harm. If things don't improve for me painwise in the next day or so, I honestly will be housebound so god knows who I will cope with dd and school etc.

Sorry for miserable post but just needed to get it all out.

Fruitpastels · 29/10/2009 20:09

Southern I'm so sorry you've been having such a bad time of it. Your consultant sounds horrible and shouldn't be dealing with pregnant ladies by the sounds of it. I hope you manage to get your second opinion ASAP. Do you have any help with DD and the school runs for next week? The end is near and you'll have put this all behind you.

LissyGlitter · 29/10/2009 21:00

GRRRR! DP is doing my head in again. I just said I was going to put in an online shop tomorrow, for heavy things like tins and frozen stuff, and he said I was being stupid and that I am just too impressed by the internet. I asked him how I am meant to get that stuff in (no car and DD is a right handful at the moment, considering I am barely mobile) and he said I don't need it anyway as he has cooked and frozen a load of meals. But I don't always want to eat vegetable soup or whatever, never mind that none of it is labelled so I have to guess. Sometimes I just want heinz tomato soup or a fish finger sandwich! Also apparently i get sucked in by stupid offers whereas if he goes shopping he buys the dented cans and so on and saves money. He does buy dented cans of things that I don't use though, like chickpeas and so on - all very well for cooking huge stews, but when I just need something to quickly heat up for me and dd, not much use!

Then I told him that the council tax bill arrived today, and how much it will be each month, and that i will set up a direct debit tomorrow. He sighed theatrically and asked why would I do a stupid thing like that. I said because it is the easiest way to pay bills, he said why couldn't I get off my backside and go and pay the bill myself each month. Erm, first, why would I, when I could just have a direct debit, and second, because the council offices are an hour away on the bus and if you try and ring they NEVER answer the phone, you have to leave a message and they ring you back at some point in the next week and if you are busy, tough. He was the same when i asked him to set up a standing order into my account for the bills, he wanted to give me cash each week so i could go all the way into town to pay it into my account, or add my name to his account, although he refuses to set up online banking as apparently it is a waste of time, so I would still be traipsing about to sort out bills all the time.

GRRRR!!!! I know he is working hard at the moment (today he set off at 8 and got in at 7.30, and had been working in a warehouse all day) but that is no excuse to be a knob! It's not like he doesn't trust computers, he's a bigger geek than me, he just seems to want to make my life harder! He can't even work bills himself, the rent is meant to go out of his account and he doesn't even notice if the standing order doesn't work and it doesn't go! How can you not notice you have £525 extra in your account? We are very poor, it is a huge amount of money to us!

Also, he had his phone off all day. He turned it on when he got home and got the texts I had sent him in the morning to remind him to sort out the rent (which of course he hasn't done). I don't have any contact details for his work. What would have happened if I went into labour?

Sorry, moan over. I can't moan at him as he would just get all defensive. Pretty sure he is just tired, but so am I! DD has been literally running in circles around me all day, I haven't stopped (apart from a brief mn break while she napped) all day and I still have washing up and tidying up of all her painting stuff to do. Baby is well down in my pelvis, I am really waddling now.

Can't wait for a few days in hospital!

kyte It's not that he wants me to do the shopping - he doesn't want me to do any, he thinks he should do it all, then he can stop me "wasting money" and "eating crap". OK, so sometimes I do cook junk food, but most of the time I cook normal family food (pasta and sauce, cheese toasties, etc) and he wants me to just eat the food he has cooked, which is mainly spicy and complicated, ie nice when it's there, but not what I would choose to eat at luchtime when I am tired and hungry!
