Oh poor DS, take it you are keeping him off school?

I went to sleep about 5am, DD slept until 7:45am, which is unheard of for her. Which concerns me as she woke up grumpy which means she might be coming down with something. No sign though atm so she will be going to nursery. Late, but going nevertheless!

Ninjacat · 13/10/2009 08:16

Yes he is home for the day. I have mw appointment but dp is about so should be covered (although it means he cant come with me).
Ds was very brave yesterday and determined to have his say even though he felt rough. Cafcass told him his dad would not be at court before the int and he was upset by that but still adamant to continue. Pretty physically and emotionally draining stuff for a 12 year old though so not surprised his immune system got low.
He's missing a media day at school so he's a bit fed up.

Glad dd gave you a bit of a lie in after your nocturnal ruminating

Ninja so glad you had a good result - poor your DS being poorly. I hope he feels better soon. You must be so relieved for it to be over.

I've totally lost all will to eat at the moment. Does anyone else feel like this? What's the point when it just makes me feel sicky and full of acid? I had a rough night's sleep with the theme tune to 'mama mirable's home movies' going around and around my head (a programme on CBeebies about animals for those of you on your first babies!). I'm sooo tired and DS2 doesn't want to eat his breakfast and the DSs were fighting over who got to sit on my lap while they got dressed this morning (not that there is any room on my lap for any of them now the bump is so big).

Erika sorry you've had such a confusing time. You know your own body and if it feels like labour and they were telling you it was labour then it is worth investigating. Don't let them ruffle your confidence if it happens again. Labour can stop and start anyway. Awww, big kick!

Ahhh time to go to school already! COATS AND SHOES ON EVERYONE!!!!

Trikken · 13/10/2009 08:29

hey Erika hope you are feeling a bit better today. dont worry Bryn will come out soon!

not had BH for a bit, but get uncomfortable pain like lightening down below, dont know if that means anything.

Baby has moved dow too, felt her wriggling last night, and a kind of 'pop' sensation so maybe she is starting to engage a bit.

sleeplessinthecity · 13/10/2009 08:38

Erika you were right to to go hospital..it sounds painful..are you better? Fingers crossed for you and Bryn..As BBL says labour can start many ways and if I had your pains I would think I was in labour...hope you feel better, Big hugs.

Trikken uncomfortable lightening down below is what I'm having too..its really awful..keep stopping when walking down the road.

BBL I wake up singing awful Cbeebies tunes in my head..its usually The Large Family theme tune or the Autumn Idem...Very odd and annoying. Lots of time awake last night..most of the time hoping baby will come out ok.. Keep having morbid thoughts about DD and bump..is that normal????

Tamlin · 13/10/2009 08:40

Ninjacat, that is terrific, I am so pleased for your DS.

Erika, maybe you can think of all these contractions as your uterus just practising and getting in shape for the real thing? I know they're wearying (physically and mentally).

I checked my notes from my previous appointment, and I've gone from 4/5ths engaged at 34 weeks to a free-floating baby who may be breech at 36. Good GRIEF. I suppose I should've believed everyone who told me that second babies pop merrily in and out of the pelvis. Still, I don't believe this baby's breech - I woke this morning to the familiar sensation of hiccups very low in my pelvis. I'm going to go to the scan, but try to stop worrying about it (and googling ECV and frank breech deliveries...)

Trikken · 13/10/2009 08:44

constantly have 'timmy time' in my head. dont like the singing in 'I can cook' tho, think it'd be better without it.

the lightening sensation really does stop you in your tracks, had it walking down the stairs last night, not nice.

skorpion · 13/10/2009 09:01

Morning! Another lovely day but it is getting so cold now. DH is adamant that it's still summer - as in BST - so no heating on until the clocks change. What is it with Brits and blitz spirit???

erika sorry it's not time yet. It will be soon enough. Just get lots of rest and don't pay attention to your brother.

maman hope you're getting on well.

ninja such good news! Your son sounds like such a mature and rounded lad, sorry he's poorly though.

Hope todays mw and scan appointments bring good news for everyone.

I wonder how broodzilla is getting on with her little boy. Just one day left until Wednesday, ladies! Who's going to be next?

scarlotti · 13/10/2009 09:02

Morning all

Ninja great news on the court case, so pleased your DS got to say his piece and also have things now on his terms. DD chooses when to see her Dad (or not) and it makes life much easier for them.

Erika you poor love, am thinking of you. Am hoping that things either stop for a while now (and we get to meet and eat cake!!) or just get into full swing and get going. The interim bit is just wearing.

Pav were the skirtings varnished or painted in the end?!

Can't remember who said we can take co-codamol...? Yes we can as I was prescribed some for my ear - BUT it is one of the pethidine/morphine family and can cause breathing difficulties in babies if they are born soon after taking a fair few. I was only given 2 days worth by my GP and told not to take any more. I also got funny turns the days I took them with what felt like potential contractions mixed in with dizzines, sickness and dodgy tum. I stopped taking them and just put up with the pain as it was really quite disconcerting.
Am sure others might well take them with no side effects but thought I'd share just in case!

And yes, to whoever said about appetite going, mine went about a week ago - what's that all about? Have to remember to eat these days

Laptop comes today although means DS and I are stuck here until 1pm or sooner ... come on mr delivery man!

Laugs · 13/10/2009 09:22

Erika sorry you had such a rubbish time last night and I hope the pain has eased off (or the contractions have come on properly). I listened to that hypnotherapy CD (the Birth Prep one) last night and it was the first time I managed without falling asleep at all. I was quite reassured by the part that says your baby will come when it's ready. If it feels like your body is playing tricks on you - it's not, this is its way of preparing itself for Bryn's arrival. I agree, it's a confusing, exhausting time though. I couldn't believe how much energy I had after the birth last time: I found it so much easier (physically) looking after a newborn to being heavily pregnant. ((hugs))

Ninja I am so glad you got a positive outcome yesterday. Your DS sounds like a real credit to you, and himself. I hope he gets well soon. Like you say, I'm sure the stress will have taken its toll, so a couple of days curling up on the sofa and being looked after a bit will probably do him the world of good.

Your Christmas presents sound fantastic too! How do I get my name on your list??

Scarlotti New laptop! Woo hoo. When ours had broken and I had to keep going to the library I felt like someone had cut off my right arm.

Pavlov Oh I hate nights like that. I had one the night before. Hope you can catch up on a bit of sleep today, after you've finished your skirting boards...

Is Lissy 2cm dilated as well as Maman2Tom or have I misread that?

Laugs · 13/10/2009 09:23

ps I now have Timmy Time in my head too, Trikken

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/10/2009 09:31

It's Timmy, baaa, Timmy, baaaa la la la la llaaa la.

Me too! But beats Mama Mirable's home movies any day!

Laugs · 13/10/2009 09:35

I am currently alternating the two!

Do you think it's a sign we've all been slinging the kids in front of the telly while we sit back the sofa for a few hours minutes? I am actually amazed that before this pregnancy I had a 5pm threshold before we put the TV on. Can't imagine I'll get back to that any time soon.

Laugs · 13/10/2009 10:02

lissy are you on freecycle? There is someone on the Gateshead one currently offering a double buggy.

Koumak · 13/10/2009 10:18

Good morning all,

No song in my head as feel really spacey as didn?t get much sleep last night. I was still wide awake at midnight and then ds came into MY bed (as dh couldn?t take my fidgeting any longer and moved onto sofa few nights ago?) at 5.30 this morning saying we should be getting up now as its going to be sunny today! This is second day he has been up so early a) I don?t know how he is going to get through a full day at reception b) he was already asleep when I got home from work last night! I really missed him! I really hope he is awake tonight so I can get my daily dose of cuddles. Can you tell I am a bit hormonal?

Great result Ninja and sorry Erika you have to wait for your result a little longer!

I have a massive cold. Can?t brief properly and that and lack of sleep is making me so so tired my eyes hurt. Admiring all of you with sick children and any pain. Not something I can face at the moment.

beepbeep · 13/10/2009 10:21

Bloomin Timmy Time!! Got it in my head now, though makes a chance to Chuggington (quite like Chuggington though I admit!!)

Erika - you poor thing, just think of it as a practice run - your body will be even more prepared when it actually heppens. I agree with Laugs - I def think it's easier having a newborn than being heavily pregnant.

Ninja - glad things went well for you yesterda, it must be a huge weight off you and your DS (hope he's feeling better soon). Both mine have woken up pretty sotty this morning.

Pavlov - I've got skirting boardsto do, but started painting them whilst on maternity leave with DS, they never got finished, so have no choice but to continue with the paint!

Can't remember who it was who was saying about feeling abit guilty for their DC because things were going to chance etc, I remember being exactly same with DD when preg with DS and feeling it again this time for DS, but rationally when I see DD & DS playing together it def makes me believe we did the right thing by having another (hopefully I'll feel the same way with 3!!), DD didn't take too long to adjust ether, she wa 19m and now I don't think se remembers time without him, DS will only be 16m and he seems a lot moreof a baby tha DD did, I may be wrong but I think he'll be oblivious to it all!

With my 2nd pregnancy I was a couple of cms dilated for a good 2 weeks before I had DS, I'd had loads of braxton hicks and a few little contractions - don't think it's unusual to be a bit dilated for up to a few weeks before.

LissyGlitter · 13/10/2009 11:01

laugs I'm not dilated at all as far as I know...I think maman2tom must have got me mixed up with someone else...

I will go and check freecycle now. Not sure I am on the Gateshead one, as I think there is a rule about only joining your local one, although Washington is a bit rubbish as it has just started up.

Thanks for the kind words.

Just back from mw. Baby is back to back and free floating so will have to scrub a few floors and sleep on my left side.
Growth scan booked for Monday (they tried to book for 17th Nov and mw cried down the phone "but shes big now!" then appolgised to me for calling me big)
This was the first time I have seen my proper mw but she says I will see her from now on.

Koumak did the CD arrive? Did it play ok?

Ds is snuggled on the sofa watching Monty Python, oh how things are going to change! I don't even know what little ones watch these days?

Miss read you Lissy and thought you were checking if you were dilated on freecycle

OP posts:
Laugs · 13/10/2009 11:57

Yum double choc chip cookies!

lissy the Gateshead group is now called Gateshead Freegle, as they seem to have moved away from the Freecycle group, but it is still through Yahoo and operates in the same way.

Or if you like I could request it for you? The offer is for a blue and green checked tandem buggy. It's to be collected from Team Valley. (You'd have to collect it though as I can't drive)

LissyGlitter · 13/10/2009 12:02

Ow ow ow! I was just considering if my aches and pains were going to let me get to uni when I slipped on something in the kitchen (no idea what) and it jolted me and now am in agony! Giving it five minutes to see if it calms by itself and if not I'm taking co-codomol again.

Tomorrow I have a mw appointment and will mention these problems. I can't walk the three doors to the ILs house without being in pain, which can't be right. Today it is mostly my back and back of my legs, yesterday it was back and bump, sometimes it is my undercarriage area.

ErikaMaye · 13/10/2009 12:21

Did I mention I love you guys? (Am feeling increadably soppy and hormonal today) Thanks for all your encouragement - I'm just more frustrated by mixed messages than anything else!! Still in pain today, though MW is coming in a few hours for a normal appointment anyway, will have a chat with her then. Thanks again. You're such a lovely bunch, am so glad I found you all!!! group hugs

Pav Thank you so so so much for the letter So what colour did the skirting boards turn out?? I wasn't up at 4am for once, promise I will be next time you need a colour consult

Ninja your DS sounds like a right trooper I hope he feels better soon.

Becky the only things I can stand to eat at the moment are porriage, Quavers and chocolate Am eating such a healthy balanced diet...

Skorpion DP is the same. He's complaining that he can't wear his shorts any more at the moment, which is vaugely entertaining for me. Did remind him its the second week of October, but apparently that means nothing!!!

Scarlotti yey for the laptop!! Hope it turned up sooner rather than later.

Koumak hope you feel better really soon. x

Lissy are you okay?! You poor thing!!! Feel really better really soon.

My entire family are home today. My brother and mum are ill, and dad has the day off. I hate it when they're all here Am used to doing my own thing!!!

Trikken · 13/10/2009 12:34

im the opposite today, got no-one, ds has gone to Moors Valley Park with his nana and grandad, and dh is doing a late shift so has just left. dont know what to do with myself, probably should be cleaning but feels a waste of a free afternoon.

ErikaMaye · 13/10/2009 12:38

Ohhh I hear the calls of a pamper day coming on, Trikken!!! Put on some sappy films, eats lots of crap yummy things, paint your fingernails, have a bath... Ignore the cleaning!!!
