Diege - re electrics, on our current house, when the owner was showing us round, he was proudly showing off all the wiring he'd done - we did pay for a survey and there were a number of bits that needed doing.

We were given two options, one was a re-wire, which would have cost an absolute fortune like you say, or the second, which we did, was to simply replace the fuse box with one that is 'super sensitive' and trips out very very quickly.

Its a bit of a pain when a lightbulb goes, and the whole circuit trips, but simple enough to reset the trip and replace the bulb, and a damn sight cheaper than the alternative - was about £200 I think.

Just wondered if that might be an option for you?

Diege · 16/10/2009 13:09

Thanks STT that's really useful to know . I thought there must be a cheaper solution otherwise the whole country would be goi9ng through rewiring hell! Have been lurking on a few electrical internet groups (yes they exist ) and the same sort of advice seems to be being given out there - ie, make sure that the place is grounded and has an adequate 'tripping' system in place. Hopefully we can avoid going down the rewire route!
Playbarn was OK - dd3 had a blast though ds not too impressed! Struggled to feed him in a bumbo, he doesn't seem comfy in them at all and seems to be leaning back. Still, asleep upstairs now so can't complain

tinkbig · 16/10/2009 15:35

diege - with you on he bumbos dd1 and 2 didnt get on with thme kept coming out

Diege · 16/10/2009 16:06

Hi TINK - I remember with dd3 that her thighs also got stuck in them, and she was hardly a chunky baby! Think they're one of those things you either love or hate!

Diege · 16/10/2009 16:07

ooh halloween smilies

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 19:39

Had a good day in Brighton. Visited 5 branches and O loved the attention. Lots of walking so I'm exhausted (but well exercised!)

bumbos - O has one and doesn't mind it but he's fascinated with his feet at the moment and keeps leaning forwards in it and can't get back.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 20:53

Woah!!!! DH has just told me that he's been approached about a new job. 3yr contract building a new airport. Salary would mean I wouldn't have to go back to work. Draw back is the job is in Kuwait!!! Either. We'd all move out there for 3yrs or DH would go for a couple of months at a time and then come home for a week!
Not a firm offer yet and not sure we'd choose to take it if it was but a bit mind blowing!!

Diege · 16/10/2009 21:12

OMG SES that is mindblowing Obviously lots to think about but wow and omg all rolled into one!
What's your gut feeling?
Glad Brighton was good and O sounds very cute with his feet in the bumbo. Thinking about it, it's probably J's long body that makes him lean backwards in it!
Just packed up the last of my e-bay parcels -does anyone know if the strike starts next week or did they reach an agreement? This is when the staunch socialist in me clashes with the (e-bay) entrepreneur and avid consumer
Hope everyone is ok - this time next weel it'll just be MOOS left who's pregnant and we'll need to turnh our attention towards forthcoming wagon TTCing!!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 16/10/2009 21:24

My gut feeling says if DH really wants to do it, he should but I can't imagine living abroad (nevermind Kuwait!) so we'd probably end up living apart for 7 weeks out of 8. Not ideal and could scupper ttc DC2 but I know DH would really enjoy the job. It still may not come to anything...

Last I heard postal strike was still on. Better get my Christmas cards sent

LOL at ttc wagon. We'll be starting a list of who's going to start ttc when soon and then just jump off the wagon again

Kayzr · 16/10/2009 22:29

WOW Ses!! That's quite a move. You really will just have to go with your gut feeling. I'm not sure if I could move abroad even if I knew we would be coming back in a few years. A lovely lovely lady from my dec group is soon to move to holland as her DH has a job over there. They went on holiday there and she really enjoyed it over there. So maybe that is something you could do and see how you like it there.

I honestly can not wait to ttc #3. I stupidly love being pregnant heartburn SPD and all. I would consider trying sooner but I really need to lose weight first.

Morning! All fine here though really noticing how dark the mornings are now. Up at 6.30ish which if fine but feels like the middle of the night when you look out of the window!
Looking around for reasonably priced wardrobes online today, so if anyone has any inspiration please help me! Furniture shopping is not something I know much about. Hope everyone is ok and has good weekends.

Diege · 17/10/2009 09:25

Too late!! Have bought single wardrobe, drawers and bedside cabinet for £475 delivered from Aspace oundle collection - 2 items were used for photographic shoot so got literally hundreds off Bloody hell this house better had go through now!

IDOBisamummy · 17/10/2009 12:33

Hi all,

just popping on quickly to let you know Caitlin and I escaped the hospital yesterday afternoon and are enjoying our first morning at home. She is being a little angel so far (long may it last!) and making things very easy for her mum and dad . Last night she fed at 10.30 then slept till 5.30, fed for almost 2hrs then went back to sleep until 9.30 so I feel really well rested and starting to get over the op.

Obviously the birth didn't go the way I wanted (will post more details later) but I had FANTASTIC midwives throughout who explained everything, let me make my own decisions and were hugely supportive so I actually feel really good and at peace with it all IYKWIM. Now that she is here and healthy I really don't care - am still in that completely awestruck smitten phase and can hardly believe how lucky we are to have her. I can just spend hours watching her!

Right, DP has made lunch so I'd better go and eat before she wakes up for a feed.

Kayzr · 17/10/2009 12:38

Awwww IDOB you sound so so happy!!!

Hi Can't Sounds like you had a great time!

My update:
DH might be getting a job offer which would mean I could be a SAHM. However job is in Kuwait and nothing definite yet. He should hear more in the next couple of days.
DS sleep habits changing very slowly and it's getting a bit disheartening.
We're off to Ireland to see DH's family on Wed through til next Monday.
