morning ladies, hows everyone? mychelle -yes we ahve a list of names and two top choices....... we have learnt in the past not to share names with friends/family right up til the birth announcement! they can offer names but we are not telling our top choices! too many time they have hurt our feelings or quashed our choices! you have to remember its YOUR turn to name a baby not theirs!!
how is everyone emotionally? yesterday i was really low, a real 'pity party' for myself! nothing fits, my skin is dry and awful , my hair needs cutting, my older children were playing up, dh was preoccupied and i was generally thnking omg what am have i let myself in for and feeling crap. would be nice to know ANYONE feels like this even for a moment! bit better today, thankfully!

ninah · 17/06/2005 12:53

Hi dq! I am still on a post scan hi, actually but I do have days like that, of course, esp when dp is working late and I am stuck in the house, worn out, wondering if this is going to be my life ... only more so
Can you get away for haircut at weekend? superficial, but a good tonic esp when the middle section is a bit OMG ..., concentrate on the extremities!

how about MN friends, can you tell us name choices
I am really stuck for a girl, need some inspiration

Hi all,

DQ i have days exactly the same as that and find myself worrying for no reason about everything. Infact have had 2 days where ms has eased and ive had a liking for fruit, have been tired beyond belief and no get up and go at all. Have just got my doppler out though and listened in on baby and all is good me thinks, likle bean moving around so much and when it finally rested the heart was galloping. Ive had a massive outbreak of spots on my chest and back which is strange seeing as im drinking 8-10 pints of water a day and nothing else!! Thought water was meant to purify!!!

Roll on my scan next week then i will really start planning for this baby.

Names: With my last 2 babies (both mc) DH and i had names planned from day dot, unfortunately it took us weeks to choose our other names and we both know that this time will be a lot harder to choose names we both like but definately dont want to use names we had planned to use for our other babies IYKWIM.

My brain is definately shrinking too. I have had 3 minor scrapes in my car in the last 2 weeks and also forgot my BIL birthday even though it was marked on the calender.

Am still worried about my calcium intake. With my ds i drank up to 4 pints of milk a day and with this baby the minute i touch milk i am sick, problem is i dont like cheese and cant stand yoghurts. ANY ADVICE? Im trying to use more milk in my cooking but my teeth are starting to feel furry and soft and im feeling quilty although i am now eating more fruit than last week.

Ok enough of me. am off to lay down cos my 3 mindees have all decided to have a nap today! YIPPEE

dramaqueen72 · 17/06/2005 13:15

thankyou ladies!! bonkerz, keep taking some pg multi vits to get your quota of everything, i have been the same -off dairy but managed to eat cereal, and some yoghurt too. cheese is something i have only managed today, and normally i eat lots of cheese! i had some cut in to cubes and stirred in to my vegetable rice for lunch.
ninah names well i have several other children they must 'flow' with, not to mention the usual headache of initials and surname not spelling anything awful/offensive or weird! so far i like daisy or Beatrice for a girl, we always use a family name as a middle name (dd1 is after my sister, dd2 after dhs sister etc etc) I 'm not quite so sure on boys names yet. noah is top so far i think.......DONT TELL anyone!!!! I like old fashioned, abit unusual, and for girls i like flowery too (daisy, poppy, rosie etc). to placate all the relatives who have many names to offer me (sigh)I asked them by email to mail me any they think of, they are busy doing that and i can carry on with the ones i like!!LOL!

starrynight · 17/06/2005 13:36

(formerly known as beckymumof3 - not any more!)

I'm not sure of names either - have always struggled for boys names. I quite like Niamh, Harriet, Violet for a girl and for a boy..not really sure - we have liked Millan and Ethan in the past so we'll see.

Buggywise - I think we have decided on the Quinny Freestyler (I think thats the name) 3 wheeler. Its on special offer for £99 and a friend has the carrycot we can have for the chassis so looking good!

starrynight · 17/06/2005 13:36

Also, for milk haters I think you will find high levels of calcium in green leafy veg if you can stomach that (I can't at the mo :-( )

sweetheart · 17/06/2005 13:58

Yeah!!! Some people to chat with - hope I haven't missed you all.

Bonkerz - was it you who said your partial to crisps and bread at the mo - for extra calcium you could try crisp and dairylea sandwiches?!?!?! I've been living on crisp sandwiches just recently.

We've been trying not to think of names just yet for obvious reasons but this is the list of boys names we'd built up from before:-
Dylan
Lucas
Elliott
Reece
Ryan
Aiden
Reily
Bailey
Drew
Harry
For girls I like flowery or cute names - Ie daisy, poppy, lilly, abbi, ruby etc etc etc

On the buggy front we're going for a Bebeconfort Loola

ninah · 17/06/2005 14:00

some lovely names, thanks. Like Beatrice and Violet particularly. Dp is keen on Bethany but never watches Corrie, I am keen to steer him away from that! Last time we put loads of efforts into girls names, was wasted effort, I liked Miranda at the time but now I think bleugh!
Bonkerz do you like icecream? if you can get some nice flavoured ic it may be the answer esp as we are in for a hot weekend.

sweetheart · 17/06/2005 14:04

ohhh also wanted to ask about preg vitamins. My dh has insisted I stop taking my Pregnecare as he too much folic acid has been linked to breast cancer - he said I could take it until 12 weeks then I had to stop - anyone else heard this????

dramaqueen72 · 17/06/2005 14:11

s/h,hmm, have not heard that before, but what about reading your pg vits bottle? does that brand say til 12wks? or all the way thro? I know some def say all the way thro. baby is taking much/most folic acid dont forget. I am about to start floradix a sort of iron plus good things herbal tablet as i am always 'crisis point low' in iron in pg.
i've been eating wholemeal bread and cream cheese too!

ninah · 17/06/2005 14:16

you are all so good! forget about vits, forgot about folic, eating anything and lots of it including brie and the old glass of rose.

Bonkerz · 17/06/2005 14:20

Like the ice cream idea, am loving ice lollies so will try and get some mini milks maybe. I did try to buy some of that water with added calcium but couldnt find it in the shops. Can teat dairlylea, have never liked any sort of cheese although will make an effort to put some on a potato tonight. I am taking pregnancy Multi vits so hope fully that will help a bit. Thanks everyone for easing the guilt a little. I hate being a neurotic (sp) pregnant laydee but justify it by reminding myself i have good reason to be!

dramaqueen72 · 17/06/2005 14:22

ninah -we are all indeed stepford pg ladies.......

sweetheart · 17/06/2005 14:33

the packet says they can be taken right through - inc breastfeeding.

Dh has "taken charge" of certain areas of my pregnancy - vitamins being one of them. Still if it makes him feel useful and stops him moaning about all the houshold chores I've been making him do!!!

Plus, I've actually been eating very well - lots of fruit and things so I'm not too worried about the vitamin thing!!!

ebbie22 · 17/06/2005 15:43

Sorry to hear bout the scan tc,thinking of u,I hate the waiting game...Congrats on ur scan Minnie...I am 14 wks and 6 days today[by the scan}and due date is still 10th as scan is just 1 day out....

Chickpea · 17/06/2005 16:10

Hello all,
That's interesting about the Folic Acid. I feel like I've been on pregnacare for about three years running now with various pregnancies and still bf my dd!

Thomcat - waiting for the test results must be torture. Did you find out that your lille girl had ds before she was born?

On the subject of names I like mosy of your list S/w my ds is called Elliot. He is nine and I still love the name - lucky really!

I am convinced this one is going to be another girl and I have run out of girls names I like (used up Georgia and Martha) so I'm on the look out for suggestions too.

goldenoldie · 17/06/2005 18:13

Sweetheart - Yes, I've heard about link with high Folic Acic and breast cancer - my obestrician mentioned it before advising me to take a very high dose! I've had placental problems in the past and apparently high doses (much more than you could possibly eat) help with this - we shall see.

PS - I've got a fundal height of 25cms, and a waist of 38 inches...........

goldenoldie · 17/06/2005 18:15

Midwife told me to expect a waist size of over 50 inches!

mouseman · 17/06/2005 18:20

Hi - dramaqueen, just a comment about floradix - I was taking it for a few weeks and - sorry if this is TMI but it made me dreadfully constipated, the GP prescribed me lactulose which is apparently about the only thing you can use when pg, hopefully you'll be fine - it did help with the tiredness.

starrynight · 17/06/2005 18:25

goldenoldie! So you are measuring now what we will at 25 weeks!!! Good grief you must be v.hot and bothered at the mo.

starrynight · 17/06/2005 18:26

Mind you, its quite reassuring to know that I definately can't be pg with twins as my fundal height is nowhere near that (DH is crossing his fingers for twins )

MINNIE1 · 17/06/2005 18:54
