I think I can feel baby. I'm pretty sure it was a random flutter last night after I ate a caramel shortbread.

It's finally cooled down here - breezy and looks like rain. Ah, Scotland!

ninah · 21/06/2005 09:36

Good luck today Thomcat!
PMSL at you girls and your expensive drinking habits! well it's not like we can have G&T, is it - Evian seems an eminently reasonable substitute, pricewise if nothing else.

Morning everyone!!!

TC - will be thinking of you today - Good luck hun. Let us know how you get on sweetie!!!

DQ & Expat - I'm really looking forward to feeling the baby move - it will be a big relief to me. Expat it's great that you have felt a movement - I'm still not convinced I have, might have done though!!!

Bonkerz I'm glad your feeling better - thanks for the understanding of my neuroticness - It makes me feel better to know alot of us are in the same boat.

It sounds to me like you may be suffering from dehydration honey. Sweating alot and being sick can cause it. You should aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day - but drink them slowly as it is absorbed bettr by your body that way than if you gulp it down. Also try isotonic drinks (the sports drinks like lucozade) They replace minerals and things you loose which makes the dehydration worse.

My tummy was massive last night - really swollen and haevy. Even dd noticed it - I had to tell her I'd eaten too much and had a tummy ache she must think I'm a right pig!!!!

Nemo1977 · 21/06/2005 11:34

hi all hope u dont mind but am going to put a poem up that someone just sent me.

A Different Child
poem by Pandora MacMillian

People notice
There's a special glow around you.

You grow
Surrounded by love ,
Never doubting you are wanted;
Only look at the pride and joy
In your mother and father's eyes.

And if sometimes
Between the smiles
There's a trace of tears,
One day
You'll understand.

You'll understand
There was once another child
A different child
Who was in their hopes and dreams.

That child will never outgrow the baby clothes
That child will never keep them up at night
In fact, that child will never be any trouble at all.

Except sometimes, in a silent moment,
When mother and father miss so much
That different child.

May hope and love wrap you warmly
And may you learn the lesson forever
How infinitely precious
How infinitely fragile
Is this life on earth.

One day, as a young man or woman
You may see another mother's tears
Another father's silent grief
Then you, and you alone
Will understand
And offer the greatest comfort.

When all hope seems lost,
You will tell them
With great compassion,
"I know how you feel.
I'm only here
Because my mother tried again."

MINNIE1 · 21/06/2005 12:16

Nemo1977,
your poem is lovely, i am in tears here, I really need a good cry.

Bonkerz · 21/06/2005 12:30

Nemo, that poem is so beautiful. As if i wasnt emotional enough as it is!

dramaqueen72 · 21/06/2005 13:07

what a nice poem nemo!
Thomcat -thinking of you and wishing you well.

just spent a fortune in town -sigh- but H&M have an excellent sale on, 50% alot of maternity tops so got FIVE! and new sandals and stupid amounts of stuff for kids in gap and H&M sales.....(why does all my money go on the children even when i go round chanting 'must spend money on self'?????!) worn out now so tomorrow will do battle again for the new bras and trousers/shorts for me. think everyone should check out H&M tho, as they have some stuff that isnt tent like but roomy iyswim!
hope everyones well, its still sunny here, but thankfully not so intense.

dramaqueen72 · 21/06/2005 13:07

sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:34

Is anyone else as bored as me??????

Roll on 5pm!!!

ninah · 21/06/2005 15:38

yup I am sh
dq well done with your shopping. I love H&M! got most of my summer clothes there this year

OP posts:
sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:38

I wonder what time TC's appt was??? Do you think we'll hear from her soon???

sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:39

I do like H&M but I find there maternity stuff can be a bit tight - it's all lycra stuff. I have a few bits of theirs, but have to say my saving grace has been my bargain wrap dress!!!!

ninah · 21/06/2005 15:41

Hope so. But it was in Harley Street so she may have gone to John Lewis's in which case she will be very late
Why are we sitting in dark and stuffy offices? dp is 'working from home' today. He said he had to get up early ... to watch the rugby .. grrr

OP posts:
ninah · 21/06/2005 15:42

yes, not mat stuff just their usual stuff in baggy sizes. A lovely brown top smocked and stretchy across bust and then ballooning out (aptly) to cover the bump - with SEQUINS!

OP posts:
sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:44

yes, hopefully she is in London with her dh celebrating!!!

It's not fair huh ninah - my dh is home today - he gone to play golf!!! Humph!!! I'm stuck here bored out of my brain!!

sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:44

pmsl - ohhh sequins - get you, you glam girl!!!

dramaqueen72 · 21/06/2005 15:48

s/h i got a floaty cotton tunic top with matching vest to go underneath and also a crinkly (technical term...) cotton black short sleeved top. did you get your wrap dres there? i am stuck where to look tbh... ninah love idea of sequins, have very floatly brown top with sequins and silver pattern on, its very 'hippy' but its very nice, that was M&S, supposedly to wear over swimsuit but great for ballooning ladies too
hope tc is okay too.
I am home and have hot cross children, so you know -could swap for office with you right now!

ninah · 21/06/2005 15:50

why oh why is our mat leave not til the winter. I could do with some NOW! tell you what, check with your employer - with mine you can't carry over hols so I have to take it all before I go, and then accrue next year's to add on. Make sure you take it all, this could mean days off....
I am at doc's tomorrow for 'booking in' I think it is. A bored about all the blood and wee I have to do between now and Xmas.

OP posts:
ninah · 21/06/2005 15:51

dq can't you stick them in the pool or something?
True, it IS peaceful here .. just oh so dull

OP posts:
sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:51

I got my wrap dress from red herring in debenhams - just brought it a size bigger than I am normally. It won't fit me through the whole pregnancy but it fits at the mo (when most maternity stuff is too big) and most importantly it doesn't cut my tummy in half!!!

I feel so comfy in it!! Ahhhh bliss!!!

Also got a gypsy top and a few other floaty empire line tops to keep me going for a while.

sweetheart · 21/06/2005 15:53

I gave up my right to accrue holiday when I signed my maternity agreement here - and with the time I had off in January after my m/c I'm pretty short of holiday at the mo. I have about 4 days to take between now and November. Still, can't grumble at 6 months off!!!
