sorky · 03/09/2009 13:02

BA did you get any of the offers on Boden this week?
Dd's winter coat was on yesterday so got 20% off it, bought 9 tshirts and got free delivery, 15% off entire order and a free handbag!

Seems like we're half way through September already!
Hi Sorky! Re: Boden offers, do you only find out if your item is offer of the day once purchased?? That's a great discount for a winter coat. Talking of clothes, does your house also resemble a disorganised laundry?

sorky · 03/09/2009 14:09

why yes Diege, have you been here before?
4 does create a whole other bucket of chaos I'm finding. Anyone who told me it wouldn't be any different was clearly lying, I see that now

Yes coat was £46 originally, so got it for £36, which is great for dd1. We had to compromise though, I chose the colour, she chose the coat.
I think the old winter wardrobe is due out soon, weather is definitely cooling down. I'm after a mac, but having trouble finding the right one.
Still got the boys coats to find. Seems like slim-pickings this year.
The offers have been everyday this week, offering 20% off one or two things. Today is a parisienne tee and a treasure chest tee iirc.
There are a few links on style to separate offers, some with 15% off whole order, plus the MN offer of 10% and free delivery so worthwhile a hop over there for the codes. Also if you spend over £150, there's a free cord bag to be had
Now I do have a bit more to buy, but I'm saving some items for other offers and freebies . If you sign up for the emails you'll find out what the offers of the day are too.

Hmm.. I meant my weight guess to be 7 lb 9oz but maybe my fingers know something I don't!

STT - 5 weeks isn't that long! Hope the decorating ends up well.

DS is having a really good day!!
Just off to Mum and dad's to pop a card in for their wedding anniversary - 43 years today!

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/09/2009 15:17

Congratulations Kooky, lovely name. Sorry he is in SCBU but hope this is short lived.... Cant wait to hear all the details......

I am just back from my mums, been there since 11 this morning trying to collect a urine sample for ds... We sure had fun with that... Needless to say both Owen and I need a bath and a change of clothes...

We had a very bad night. I send dp to sleep on the sofa so that DS and I could share the bed. He slept fitfully but his temp never came down, at one point he only had a vest on and the fan on but his temp was 39.6!!! Dr is not too worried at the moment but if temp goes up anymore or if there is no improvement tomorrow we have to go back... He has told me to offer milk every two hours and not to give solids today.. He has had two feeds since then so that is ok. He really is very poorly he is just laying there moaning quietly... Dr thinks it is a viral infection but wants to rule out urine infection just incase......

Sorky thank you for your support yesterday and again this morning... it was much appreciated and needed.. thank you!!!

Hope you are all well

GP also said I was giving too much calpol to him. I have been giving 5ml 4 times a day. He said that due to owens weight I should only give 2.5 mls 4 times a day... Wish they put that on the bloody box....

idreamofbeanie · 03/09/2009 15:23

Ses - I wouldn't be too sure. I'm measuring 37cm at 36+4 but the midwives have both felt my bump and gone "what a good sized baby, growing well" and when I ask if good sized means small and easy to get out they look sheepish and say I don't want a small baby really . Is my guess the weekend we are meeting up? Better change that - I don't want to miss that.

Just back from my appointment, baby is head down and head is at brim but not engaged so I should get some r+r time next week. My bp is still the same as when I booked in and the baby's heart rate was fine so still okay for a home birth - yah!

Bump - poor DS . Hope he feels better soon.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 03/09/2009 16:46

Bump, good to hear you got through the night and your doc is at least monitoring things. We had to get a urine sample off DS when he was tiny, we were made to wait in A&E till he could produce something, they gave us an adult urine bottle as they didn't have any baby ones left . DH undid his nappy, stuck his willy in the top of the bottle, and kind of wedged it so that when he finally weed it went straight in. Needless to say, if it had been me, DS would have peed everywhere!

Hope DS gets better soon.

I've just had a MW appt, completely forgot about it so good job I'd put a reminder in my phone. It was supposed to be at 3.15 so I had to take DS, didn't get seen till 4.05 though and rather , DS had an accident (just wee, thank god!) and soaked one of their waiting room chairs. Its the first time we've had him wee on someone elses property.... We'd only just been to the bloody loo.

Potty training is NOT going very well at all as you can probably tell. He never tells me when he wants to go anymore, so its down to me to coerce him onto the potty every 45 minutes or so, otherwise he just wees wherever he is. Its sooooo frustrating coz I know he can do it when he wants to.

Anyway, MW appt, everything was fine, except she couldn't work out which way round the baby was, just that its 'no-where near your pelvis yet' - I've got a scan in 2 weeks, so if its still breech and high, it will be an ELCS.... PANTS PANTS PANTS

Yes, am tipping forward, kneeling, lying on side etc etc as much as I can before anyone suggests it...

bodenaddict · 03/09/2009 17:28

good shopping sorky - yes i used a code which is 15% off everything and free delivery and returns
will use it next time 2
will be ordering rest of dd1s winter clothes a week tom

Starshinetiger · 03/09/2009 20:49

CONGRATULATIONS Kooky!! Love the name (but then I am biased ) Sounds like he gave you an easy birth, but am sure it has not been so easy since! Thinking of you lots and sending you a sneaky wagon hug. Can totally empathise with what you're going through, following our experience with DD. Hope they are supportive of you bfing and expressing while he's in SCBU. GOSH have a really great policy on bfing, but I can't find a link to it online currently - all I can find is: "GOSH encourages breastfeeding. All wards have suitable facilities where you can breastfeed, including access to a breast pump if you need one. We also provide food vouchers to all mothers breastfeeding babies under six months old, whether or not your baby is a patient at GOSH. If you have any questions about breastfeeding or would like some advice, please ask a member of staff to contact our neonatal nursing advisor." Just thought if you have trouble with your hospital supporting you in bfing/expressing while Joseph is in SCBU, GOSH is THE children's hospital and you could suggest that they follow the GOSH ethics.

If I can be of any support to you, please let me know. Please also make sure that you are still being looked after properly - the SCBU staff are there to look after Joseph, but you still need your postnatal checks with the midwife and make sure you are getting all the support you need - I think it's even more important when things haven't gone exactly as you expected and you're separated from your baby too.

Glask - so sorry to hear about Ruby's passing out. Echo others and would definitely mention it to your consultant and HV. Sounds very scary and I don't think it's ott to ask for an apnea monitor.

Diege - hope school run goes well tomorrow morning.

Bumps - so sorry to hear DS is so ill. Hope he is better this evening - is awful when they are ill

STT - glad you had a good nap, totally with you on the dust thing - our house is a nightmare having had patio done last week, but FIL over tomorrow to finish edging with DH and I'm not bothering to clean until they've finished as there's just no point - problem is I have to do it all tomorrow evening, as it's DS' birthday party on Sat (my baby is 3 on Tuesday - where did the time go?!)

Right - DH has finished moving old patio slabs to neighbours house (they have a use for them - yay!), so off to cuddle

P.S. - good going on shopping Sorky & Boden!!

Morning,

WOOO Saturday tomorrow!! I can not wait to go to Alton Towers and to just have a small break from the kids and work!!

I feel really busy at the minute. Driving every Thursday, Theory test next Friday, Dad comes up next Friday for 5 days, our MN meet up. Plus including IDOB I know 6 people due to give birth in the next 2 months. Must be a baby boom in the Yorkshire area!!

Bump, Hope DS is feeling better soon.

STT, Hope the baby turns soon!!

I hope everyone is well.

glaskham · 04/09/2009 08:41

Kooky- Congratulations!!- if you need me for anything related to Joseph's SCBU stay or expressing etc just send me an email to [email protected] maybe send me your mobile number and i'll send you mine and we can chat whenever you need me. I know it will be tough on you with your DD too. It's hard to get the right balance of spending time with both of them, you dont want to leave your babies side but yet you dont want to make your other DC's feel like you dont care, but please do remember your DD will be fine once your home with DS and it will all be forgotten soon enough. If you need ANYTHING please dont hesitate to get in touch. Have you any idea of how long DS's stay is likely to be? Or when you'll be able to try him BFing for himself?

Thanks to everyone for the support & advise on DD2's breath-holding... managed to speak to the HV yesterday- she reasurred me it was fairly common to breath-hold but at the same time she's in a very small percentage that can make themselves become unconsious from it. However when she passes out her body will automatically kick-start breathing. However, because she's still around the average 2/3mth old's size it may be ideal to have an alarm in the house just to be cautious. Either way she advised talking to the Cons Pead today and see what they think about it and what they suggest.

We have our appt at 2.30 this afternoon. My sister is coming to watch the older DC's for me so i only have to take DD2. And my nan is coming round at 4ish... so i need to make sure the house is tidy!! Would help if i were allowed to cage the DC's so they dont make more mess though!!

When's your holiday Bump?

OP posts:
bumpsnowjustplump · 04/09/2009 09:46

next week glask!!! I thought he was getting better but last night was the pitts.... He has just had a small feed thought so hope that that is a good sign...

Diege · 04/09/2009 09:46

Morning! Just popping in as not much time before ds is up. Managed to get out of the school run (dh did it after much pleading) so an easier start. Had a bad night with J, and have just started dd3's first course of movicol, so waiting for some 'movement' from her . Have to brave the PO at some point, so will resort to pull-ups for her today! (I do NOT want to risk pants in PO queue, despite what dr. says!!).
STT,don;t panic just yet, there's plenty of time left. Easier said than done I know (been there) but as you say, get going on all fours etc and it may well work (that's if baby IS in bad position - sounds like mw wasn;t too sure at all!)
KAYZ, enjoy your alton towers trip - v.jealous . Watching dds on rides at flamingo land doesn't quite cut it!
LB, sorry things are still bad with ds When is your holiday?
GLASK, good luck for this afternoon. Great that you just have dd2 to take - makes things so much easier at appointments when other LOs are being looked after! The nurse at my appointment with dd3 on Wed kept on going on about my 'tribe' and I only had 3 of them with me
Hello to everyone else . Have just started a thread in health about dd3's constipation, and have also made her a toy poo . She's been given a booklet to read by the hospital about a character called 'Tricky Poo', and seems happier talking about her constipation now. Made it out of an old pop sock and she is very attached. Has already shown the postman and wants to take it to the supermarket etc...What have I done

glaskham · 04/09/2009 09:46
