Wow, its so hard to keep up with you guys these days

Just wait till this LO arrives, and I won't have any time at all, I'll be like the rest of you - too busy!

Midwife says all is well, BP is 120/80 which whilst normal, is the highest its been all pregnancy. She said baby's head is still free [grrrr] and listed all the standard stuff for trying to get stuff moving...RLT (just ordered from amazon for delivery tomorrow, fingers crossed), nipple tweaking, pineapple, curry, sex, and she's even given me the number of the reflexologist she used... am not sure about that one, but I don't really know why - any of you guys tried it?

She said I need to keep wiggling my bum around in a figure of 8 shape to try and get its head down. I'm so sure its coming out of the sun roof though...should have just booked an elcs to start off with, then at least I'd have a deadline to work with and wouldn't be worrying wondering how labour is going to be this time around...

Diege · 08/10/2009 16:47

Hi STT! It's actually normal to have a slight rise in bp before labour commences..you never know tonight could be the night (sod's law with your amazon order)

tinkbig · 08/10/2009 17:03

sparkly glad mw went well

Starshinetiger · 08/10/2009 18:17

Tink - don't give up on the finger food. We've been putting finger food in front of DD for a couple of weeks now and she's really gotten into it this week. Tonight she's chomped on carrot, courgette, brocoli, pasta and nectarine. Did offer her some of the bolognese sauce, but she wasn't too keen. She's not a big eater and I do offer her purees alongside, but today, she's really wanted to feed herself. So, give things a few tries to let her get used to them and try not to get disheartened at all the food that gets thrown around (if she's anything like my DD ). DD is sooo different to DS, with whom I made all the purees and he ate anything we gave him. DD is much fussier choosier.

essenceofSES · 08/10/2009 19:29

I feel crap! Think it's probably tiredness.
DS had 2 half hour naps today whilst we were out at groups at 11 and 1. I tried to get him to self settle for an afternoon nap at 4pm but he was having none of it. Then by 5.30 he was over tired so I started bedtime routine early. He's now been asleep in his cot since 6.40pm. He did fall asleep feeding though. I did sit him up and try to wind him but he just stayed asleep. Just hope it lasts and he doesn't think it's a late nap.
On my own tonight with DH in Scotland.

Weaning talk is interesting. A month til we start as DS is 5 months tomorrow.

Diege · 08/10/2009 20:05

Some good advice there STAR . I halfheartedly handed J a piece of rusk yesterday which he promptly put in his eye . I think because he's so big that I forget that developmentally he's still a very young baby. He is doing well on the baby rice and fruit purees though, and looking forward to the months ahead. TINKS, have you thought of doing some one pot dishes to save time? Things like chicken stews with dumplings, veggie casserole etc with a portion removed for dd2 before adding seasoning for the rest of you? I remember that being a lot easier when cooking for a large family, plus used to make loads of casseroles and freeze portions. Fish pie is another one that goes down well and is a good texture for babies.
SES, sounds like the early bedtime is a proper bedtime and not just a nap to me (and hopefully O will think so too )
I could really do with a spa day myself - just feeling really plain and old at the moment! Shopping with a friend on Sat though (albeit with J) so that should cheer me up!

Diege · 08/10/2009 20:07

Meant to say SES that I hope you're feeling better soon xx Must be tough with dh away, as even when they don't do much in the night their prescence is comforting (or occassionaly extremely irritating )

essenceofSES · 08/10/2009 20:16

Thanks Diege. He's still asleep so that's over 90mins but I'm sitting here stressed out as I keep thinking he'll wake up! I'm sure I'll get used to this in a few days!
Must phone my friend in York as her DH is in hospital overnight for an op. Then maybe I'll go to bed myself and be grateful if he's still asleep!

Diege · 08/10/2009 20:39

Oh have I been there SES!! That dread that they're going to wake any second, and then (when they do) that feeling in the pit of the stomach...usual way to guarantee they'll wake is getting yourself a nice cuppa, choccy biscuit and good mag. Wait until the biscuit is dunked, raise to lips while opening first page of mag...guaranteed to get that wail from upstairs Hopefully a phone call won't do the same!

Starshinetiger · 08/10/2009 21:23

Spot on Diege - is guaranteed way to make it happen.
Keeping fingers crossed for you Ses. Am sitting here on tenterhooks myself with DD. Routine out of window for last couple of days, as DD has not been herself - might be teething, might be her cold, don't know, so she fed after DS' bedtime tonight and then I did mixture of some leaving her in her cot and then when she started pulling herself up on her cot, some PU/PD. Took only 30 mins tonight (plus some calgel as she was chewing on the cot rail), so fingers crossed she stays until a late evening feed.
Right, wishing you all a good night's sleep... and labour vibes to Sparkly and IDOB!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/10/2009 21:58

Oh goodness, so much to look forward to I'd forgotten about waking up, thinking you'd heard something, then realising they're still asleep, and then not being able to get back to sleep coz, well, they'll wake up any minute...any minute...and an hour later you've realised that you've lost a whole hour of potential sleep - or was that just me

Diege · 08/10/2009 21:59

Yes, here's to a good night's sleep STAR! And may there be babies in the morning

Sparklytwinkletoes · 08/10/2009 22:02

I've got my fingers crossed for IDOB, she's been quiet a while....

All very quiet here though...

Sleep well wagon mums and babes!

essenceofSES · 08/10/2009 22:05

Thanks guys Helps to know I'm not completely pathetic (just a little bit!)
He woke up at 9.10pm so did about 2.5hrs. I've fed him and he's back asleep in his cot so I'm going to try and get some sleep myself.
STT - I've done similar myself

GYo · 08/10/2009 23:01

Hello

Sorry ive been awol again, I have been lurking looking for news from STT and IDOB

Tink- definately agree with the others about finger foods. Takes a while for them to work out what to do with it. Let her play with some food first.

We've be BLWing for a while but properly for 2wks now and things are getting swallowed now. Today DD had a cheese sandwich finger, plum and melon. Was thrilled!

Ses- hope you get a good night. Sorry I didnt reply to your question about our holiday. We went to Sardinia, was lovely. Seems ages ago though. We must do another meet up soon. Would be great to see you and O again.

Star- fab about DD crawling hope she isnt tiring you out!

Diege- DS sounds like he is doing fab! I#'ve been following your updates. Is having a boy very different to girls?

Sorry- late at night and brain is fried. Will try and keep up now!

essenceofSES · 09/10/2009 06:46

Feeling much better. This is how he slept last night:

6.40pm sleep
9.10pm wake up and feed
9.45pm sleep
1.10am wake up and feed
1.30am sleep
1.40am wake up and try to settle
1.55am sleep
5.10am wake up and lie chatting in cot
5.30am feed
6am sleep
6.15am awake

Hope you've all had good nights.

GYo - good to hear from you. Meet up sounds good. Did we ever sort a Reading one?
When are you going back to work? I have a meeting with my boss this afternoon to discuss my return. I'm hoping for my old job 3 days a week from sometime in Feb.

IDOB & STT - thinking of you and sending a ton of positive vibes your way!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/10/2009 08:15

Ses - seems like the waking parts weren't too bad - frequent, but settling well. Hope you managed to fall asleep quickly too.

I was awake from 2.30, initially with quite painful 'period pains' but they went off after about an hour or so, by then I was hungry, so had a milky coffee, then listened to my ipod for a bit - last time I looked at the clock it was 4.45 so must have dropped off soon after that. I have a banging headache this morning which I assume is as a result of the hours spent awake.

DS and DH left for nursery about half hour ago, and I've tidied the kitchen as I hadn't done any pot washing (and I have a dishwasher ) for a couple of days. All sorted with one unload and reload and a quick wipe round. Now having another hot milk drink, don't feel ready for food yet, then I think maybe a couple of paracetamol and back to bed for a bit.

I'm going to head round to a friends house today, may as well sit on her sofa as sit on mine - and she makes very good tea too!

She lives close to nursery too, so will fetch DS later this afternoon when she gets her DD and probably stay at hers till DH is going to be home, so that I don't have to be at home alone with DS - I don't mean that to sound bad, but he will just harass me to either take him to the park or play on his swing, and they're both a bit physical at 40 weeks plus without backup.

We did go for a nice walk together last night when they got home - its really beautiful in the park at the moment with all the leaves turning - am hoping for some lovely pictures from when we went out at the weekend too, DH hasn't had time to get them off the camera yet though.

Is feeling like my pelvis is bruised a good thing? Not sure bruised is the best way to describe it - I didn't have this with DS.

GYo, good to hear from you - I have friends who've been to Sardinia and said it was lovely, not too spoilt yet with all the tourism, but touristy enough to be able to find plenty to do? Guess it would depend on which area you went to though of course. Glad you you had a nice time.

GYo · 09/10/2009 08:16

Morning

Hi Ses- that sounds like a reasonable night. Have you moved DS out of your bed now?
(apologies, Im sure you said further down but I couldnt see when I scrolled)

We havent sorted out a reading meet yet. Sorry, I have lost track of things with the holiday and lots going on here. I will post something to the FB page as I also met Cosmo on the BLW forum and she is interested in a london meet. Maybe LBOT will be too.

hi everyone else

cantmummyhaveabreak · 09/10/2009 08:44

Morning ladies- Just a quick post before we sort ourselves for the trip this afternoon.

Gonna miss the wagon!! Think you PG ladies can hang on till the 17th? Or am i asking too much there?? Either way good luck for anything that may happen (and most likely will for both of you).

DC's have their school photo's this morning, DH has taken them, all-be-it a bit early- but gives me some quiet time.

Got to collect DD1 from nursery, have lunch, take the dog to my mums, then pack the car, collect DS, get him changed and set off!! Gonna get a naughty maccy's before we get onto the motorway and hopefully full belly's and mp3 players/ dvd players will send the DC's to sleep. I'm so excited!!

Right take care everyone- and I hope to arrive back to some little babies named after me in my absence

Have fun!!

essenceofSES · 09/10/2009 09:33

Can't- have a fantastic time!

GYo - yes, last night was the second night with the side of the cot back on and DS not allowed into bed between 7pm and 7am with a proper bath, massage, feed routine.

He's still falling asleep whilst feeding but I'm trying to de-latch him promptly and put him down. My HV suggested I focussed on self settling for his daytime nap(s). Bit tricky today and tomorrow as today I'm meeting up with my boss to discuss my return to work in Feb so he'll probably nap in the car. Tomorrow I have a spa day with the other girls in my NCT group so DS is staying with DH. Could be interesting!!

STT - sounds like things are slowly happening?!

essenceofSES · 09/10/2009 09:35

We need a new thread but I'm on my phone as laptop broken. Can someone do the honours??!

Kayzr · 09/10/2009 10:21

Have a great time Cant!!!

Ses, I can do a new thread but have no idea what to call it.

Diege · 09/10/2009 10:23

Hello! Have a great time CANT, sounds like you've got it all thought out, and I'm sure you'll all have a blast
Hi SES, night sounds pretty good!
Hi GYO, good to hear from you . TBH I've not noticed any differnce with J from the girls. He's very active, but then so was dd2!
STT sounds like things are slowly happening!
