Kooky - thinking of you. V exciting

Glask - how scary. I haven't looked at Sparkly's links but if I were you, I would talk to HV or paed cons.

Sparkly - sounds to me like your nap was constructive...

Diege - how did DD (DD3?) get on with nursery?

Bodenaddict - sounds like your name is v apt at the moment!

I just popped into town and bumped into an old schoolfriend who I haven't seen (only on FB) in 10yrs!! Was great to see her. She is single and no children but thought O was gorgeous. She works as a wardrobe mistress and has just been on tour in the states with Judas Priest and has previously done Dancing on Ice and Strictly tours. Next job is the Nolan sisters reunion tour!!!

Our cols are getting better although still a bit snuffly.

glaskham · 02/09/2009 17:45

Afternoon- STT- thanks for the links i feel a little re-assured after reading them!!... DD2 is in the 4.6% that can become unconsious from the attacks... I'll defo mention it to the pead cons on friday, and phoned HV and left a message earlier so have followed both avenues... maybe an apnea alarm is a little drastic- but was panicking that if she did it when i was in another room then i'd not know and it could be much worse.

sorky · 02/09/2009 21:40

Glask I'm just popping on for you.

Very scary! I have a couple of questions:
Did she do this in SCBU? It's common to preemie's and usually the use an alarm.

What is the frequency like, is there a pattern and does she change colour? It can happen when a child is over-stimulated for instance.

I would definitely mention it to the Paed on Friday, but also take her to A&E if it happens again.
I don't think an apnea alarm is too cautious, I'd be asking for one.

hth

bumpsnowjustplump · 02/09/2009 22:13

Evening all. I am just back from A&E as Owen has been really ill. He has had a cold and cough for 2 weeks and I have been putting it down to his teeth. Today he hasnt fed and had a temp of 37.5. Gave calpol but it kept rising. Rushed him to hospital when it hit 39.1. They checked his throat, ears and chest and sent us home saying it was a virus. We are still really worried, his temp is now 38.8 and his breathing is very sharp and he has woken 3 times screaming.....

I am not going to sleep tonight and going to take his temp often, I am so worried he may fit or worse.... I dont know what else to do!!

sorky · 02/09/2009 22:19

ring me if you need me Bumps, I'll be up no doubt.

idreamofbeanie · 03/09/2009 08:56

CONGRATULATIONS KOOKY!!! .

I love the name! Hope you can bring him home soon and I'm sure Glask will have loads of top tips until then.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 03/09/2009 09:03

Kooky, that's lovely news and I love the name too! What a good boy to arrive so promptly! Hope the birth was OK for you and look forward to hearing the details when you're up to it? Sorry to hear he's being held in SCBU but as you say, glad we've got Glask here to help out on the expressing front.

Lots of love to you and yours, x

idreamofbeanie · 03/09/2009 09:10

Glask - how scary ! I don't have any advice but you should definitely speak to the consultant about an alarm. It'll be worth it just for the peace of mind I imagine. I hope the hv and doc are helpful.

LB - so so sorry about O , I really hope his temp is coming down this morning! Poor you too, is DH staying home with you today or can you get someone to come over? So much worse being tired and worried on your own.

Morning Kay - is that you finished work for the week? Can't wait to finish up here.

Ses - glad you had a good time with your friend and your colds are starting to go.

Right, better get back to work but only 2 days left to go - yah!!! I have worked so many hours over the last month I can't wait to see the back of the place. I have a midwife appt at 2 today and my usual midwife is on her hols so it will be interesting to see what this one has to say. Hopefully she agrees the baby is head down. I've had a few 'shocks' in my pelvis when I sit down too fast so maybe she is starting to engage - I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday. I'm hoping she stays put for at least a week or two though so I can relax at home but I'm sure my impatience gene will kick in after that so I hope she isn't too late either .

Sparklytwinkletoes · 03/09/2009 09:12

Sorry bumps - just caught up with the thread properly, hope your night wasn't too bad - let us know how you're both doing?

DS has got a terrible cough that seems to have come out of nowhere, only seems to trouble him at night and its one of those 'barking' coughs, poor little soul sounds like a baby seal .

He was a horror yesterday afternoon after not having a nap at nursery, but on the plus side, he was in bed 45 minutes earlier than normal, which gave DH and me more time to work on his bedroom. Hoping to see some colour go on the walls tonight.

Today, so far, I've managed to up, wash and dress, tidy round, run dishwasher, load washing machine, tidy DS toys which were, once again, distributed all round the lounge floor and do a little bit of tidying in DS room.

The whole house is a blimin' tip though and its really bugging me. The dust is everywhere too, and when you wipe it away, two minutes later, its back again, I can only assume its because of all the sanding DH has been doing. I did consider moving back to mum's for a bit longer, but she's doing some home decs at the moment too so its not much better there. I know the MIL will be spotless but I can't cope with even the thought of that! We're very different people!

Its the first time we've decorated a room without booking a chunk of time off to do it, but DH wants to take 2 weeks off when the new baby gets here using his holiday leave entitlement rather than taking it as paternity leave to keep his pay. I think this is what is making it all such blinking slow progress.

Kayzr · 03/09/2009 09:14

Yeah IDOB that is me done for the week! Going to Alton Towers on Saturday for my best friend's 21st. I can not wait!!! WOOOO!!!!

Glask, DS2 stops breathing when he has hurt himself, which at the minute is a lot now he is pulling himself up at everything!! A good tip Nat/Lightning gave me was to blow on their faces. It gets them breathing again. But I would also ask for an alarm.

Bumps, Hope Owen is better soon. Hope you managed a bit of sleep last night.

Diege · 03/09/2009 09:41

Oh ny goodness MANY CONGRATUALTIONS KOOKY!!! . Really hope you can bring Joseph home soon, and looking forward to hearing all about the birth of your gorgeous boy .
Really sorry to here of all the poorly little ones out there . Hope you see an improveent soon LB, and GLASK, that must be so scary, hoping you can get some good advice too (other than excellent advice on MN of course!)
Pretty hectic here, with first day back at school. DD3 at nursery, so not too bad just with older dds and J, but am dreading tomottow with dd3 as well! Think we'll have to leave house at 6 to get there in time as dd3 has annoying habit of walking as slowly as possibe . Am starting programme of movicol with dd3 tonight for constipation - pretty intense treatment owing to extent of impaction, so really hopinh we can crack the problem. Dr at clinic did say it could take 12-18 months though!!
Hello to everyone else; one day away from the wagon and I can't keep up already!

essenceofSES · 03/09/2009 10:07

Morning!!

Just nipping on to say a huge CONGRATULATONS to Kooky and family
Good luck with the expressing and hope you'll be able to bring him home soon. Look forward to the BS

Will try and catch up later but Bumps, hope you managed a bit of sleep and that your O is better today.

GruffaloSoldier · 03/09/2009 10:19

Morning all

Congrats Kooky! Lovely name. Hope you can get your little one home ASAP.

Glask - just what has been said really - it can't hurt to ask for the alarm.

Diege - good luck with the movicol, I have had to have that before! It worked quite quick Hope the school/nursery run goes smoothly tomorrow

Kayz - have fun on Saturday!

IDOB - yay for 2 days of work left!

STT - apologies if you know this already but when I looked after a 2 year old when I was a nanny she got croupe and had that bark of a cough - steam was the best thing to ease it. Leave the hot shower running in the bathroom or even just the hot tap and takethem in the bathroom and it really helps. especially before bed.

Bump - hope Owen is on the road to recovery now.

Boden - when does DD1 start school?

well all ok here except that I have a stinking cold. But GC has been sleeping really well recently and he let me lie in til 8am this morning so thats good.

I am supposed to be going out for coffee with NCT mums this afternoon but Im not sure whether I should as Im so snotty

Hello to anyone Ive missed!

bodenaddict · 03/09/2009 10:22

idreamofbeanie · 03/09/2009 11:33

GYo - I don't know when we want to start the syndicate. I guess she could arrive any time now although aren't first babies usually late? I think we should do one for me and for STT at the same time - I have a feeling her baby may arrive first (or am I just saying that to make myself feel better ). What do I need to do? My EDD is 27th September and should I have a guess first? I'm going to be optimistic and guess early and not to big .
