Morning all

Happy Birthday DD1 Boden! Have a lovely day out.

Oh no LB! Ive done similar with the postie but Im not sure he saw...

Friend came down last night and we had a lovely evening and she was even ok with DD this morning although my DH made a point of making a joke of her not likeing the baby which made things easier as I just look like Im sucking on a lemon when she says anti baby stuff!! She doesnt mean any harm- think I need to chill a bit (remind me of that next time!!)

had a good bottle of wine though and I've been left with a bit of a headache not so good. ONly had a large glass

Right DD is awak after her nap so off to get her dressed.

Looking forward to hearing about your day out Boden

Where is Sorky and Moosy these days? Wagon seems quite quiet I must say- must be the holidays.

essenceofSES · 29/08/2009 12:28

Hello!!!

Boden - sounds like DD1 will have a great day!

Bumps - how awful for you but I hope you're feeling better today.

Lightning - sounds like all is getting on well with the move

GYo - glad things not too awkward with your friend. Yay for wine but hope the headache goes quickly!

Diege - hope you have a good day at farm. I too like tiredmess as an addition to the wagon dictionary!

Weight loss - am v impressed with you all. I missed our fitness session in the park yesterday as was at friends' wedding and have still not lost any more than what Iput on whilst pg. On the plus side, I'm back to pre-pg weight but I still would like to lose another stone and a half really...

Wedding was v good yesterday. Both DS and DH were quite well behaved My speech seemed to go down well although I had to hang on until 6.30pm to give it. Also had great fun getting my friend ready in the morning. Bless him, Owen coped v well whilst we went to the hairdressers, did make up, got her dressed and he slept during the church service.

Anyway, sun is shining so I may take O for a walk...

essenceofSES · 29/08/2009 12:51

Does anyone else have an Angelcare monitor?

We're trying to get it to work for if we put DS in his pram on the patio but we cdan't turn the function for the sensor pad off. Does anyone know how to or if you can?

Kayzr · 29/08/2009 17:02

MIL rang earlier. Apparently DS2 not sleeping is my fault because I had him in our room to sleep! I said that the reccomend that they sleep in the parents room until they are 6 months old. She just moaned that if he had been in his own room then he would sleep properly.

Diege · 29/08/2009 17:05

Hi all! Glad wedding went well and yes, the speech!! Were you nervous beforehand? Excellent that it went well - I think I would have bottled it!
GYO evening sounds good, sorry about mini-hangover . Very hard to chill if you know your friend is a bit anti-baby, so don;t be too hard on yourself
Farm was lovely, although minor panic when dd1 lost her beloved soft toy tiger, Jack. He was in a pile ready to be used as a jockey for the sheep racing when dh spotted him
Right, better go, usual tea-time chaos!
Yes and where ARE Sorky and Moosy!!!!

Diege · 29/08/2009 17:09

Deep breaths KAYZ...she should write a childcare book that MIL of yours, she kniows far more than the experts . Or be a HV of course . Meant to say it doesn't seem 5 mins since last year's goth weekend!

Kayzr · 29/08/2009 17:22

Lol!! HV isn't much more helpful tbh!!!

I can't believe how fast this year is going. Doesn't seem that long ago ds2 was a newborn and now he is pulling himself up at the sofa and giggling with ds1!

kookykid · 30/08/2009 09:28

Just a quick one - sorry haven't been around for a couple of days. Busy with family etc. My Mum arrvies from Australia today! Am so excited! Am so lucky to have her here to give me a hand with DD so I can concentrate on the baby for a bit before he arrives.

Hope you're all having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

idreamofbeanie · 30/08/2009 09:50

Morning, just a quick update as I need to get on with some housework. I have been so busy at work the house is a tip and DP has finally got our house in Cambridge ready to rent and is heading back this afternoon. He'll take 1 look and turn around if I don't clean up. Back later.

IDOB - don't do too much! I'm sure he'll understand how difficult it is being in the latter stages of pg and still working. (If he doesn't, let me know and I'll happily explain! )

Kooky - that's great that your mum is arriving I know you've found her a great support in the past. So you're pretty much set and ready for him to arrive! Hope he's not too comfy in there!

I'm feeling a bit despondent as DS has a cold. I thought BF would help prevent that but he's got snuffles, difficulty breathing when feeding and a bit of a cough. He's also been sick a couple of times. Bringing up mucous. Bless him, despite this he's woken up all smiley this morning.
I'm going to go out and get some saline nasal drops for him.

hi

we are back

we all had a gr8 time @ paultons and in the hotel last night and shopping in soton today.
dd1 had such a nice time she is overtired now!!
so lucky with the weather 2

Sparklytwinkletoes · 30/08/2009 22:12

Hi all,

Boden, glad DD had a lovely day, early to bed tonight!

Lightening, if it was me, I'd take the money and put up with the boxes, but I'm used to being surrounded by junk so a bit more wouldn't make any difference!

Kooky, can't believe your time has nearly come around! Only seems a few minutes ago we were cycle buddies and getting our BFP's.

IDOB, I agree with Ses, be careful not to overdo it! I've been really sleepy the last couple of days and baby seems to have been unusually active - I'm hoping its been making an effort to turn .

Kayz, glad the driving has clicked, its great when you get to that stage and can start to enjoy driving and the freedom it gives.

Glask / Diege, how on earth do you find time to post with multiple kids at home and very little ones? I have one DS and am finding him a HUGE handful at the moment.

Potty training seems to have gone COMPLETELY out of the window, tantrums are now a daily occurence and where I used to be able to leave him to play quietly, the smallest thing (sometimes nothing) sets him off and he just starts lobbing things around...

He's very excited at the prospect of going to pre-school, but they encourage them to drop their naps and they need to be potty trained so not really sure its a good idea. I'm going to call the nursery manager and have a chat on tues am.

Well, I started typing this message at about 5, and its now 10 - ho hum... wonder how many times I've cross posted!

Waves hi to Gyo, SST, GS and everyone else / anyone else I might have missed....

Will post updated list and syndicate in a sec...

Morning,

Hi STT! Sorry DS is having tantrums. No potty training here either. He'll sit on his potty but still not done anything. But as soon as he gets off he usually does a wee and asks for his nappy changed.

I do not want to go to work today. I am feeling really down about it. DH is going to ring tax credits today and see if they can tell him how much we'd get if I stopped working. If it works out more than I will stop working. Not holding out much hope though.

Hope you are all ok.

glaskham · 31/08/2009 10:01

STT- sorry you're having a tough time with Ds...As for finding time to post... i'm lucky that DD1 and DS can entertain themselves now... so when DD2 in asleep/happy/staring into thin air i can get on to post again.... though it's only been recentlythat i've managed to get myself back onto MN properly!! I neglected the wagon for the first few mths really!!

Kayz- sorry about work- we worked out we'd only be about £40 a month better off if i worked... I'd rather be down £40 and spend the time on MN with the DC's!! Luckily DH is on a pretty good wage aswell... But we managed on just over minimum wage when we only had DS. When DD1 arrived he got manager and in the last 3 years we've managed to sort ourselves out and manage to save £400 p/m too, so we are very lucky!! But from when we first had just one wage coming in it was tough as we had to start living on a budget which we'd never done before. Was well worth it though!!

Morning!

Glask - looks like your nephews christening went well. Photos on FB are gorgeous! Ruby looks like she's doing well and I love the little outfit your nephew was wearing

Kay - I really hope the tax credits works in your favour.

STT - sounds like DS is being a handful at the moment. Wish I could help but I'm just in awe still of those of you with more than one DC (or a second on the way!) Having said that, I know many people that say that DC2 was so much easier than they expected so don't worry.

I told DH yesterday that I had a meeting to do with work that I want to go to on the evening of 24th Sept so I needed him to be home to babysit. He's agreed to do it but has admitted that he's scared that he won't be able to settle O if he gets upset. I think it's partly because I'm BF and that is often (although not always!) what settles him. I'm starting to build up a little supply of frozen EBM so it's not like that will be an issue. He's going to ask my cousin who lives nearby to come over for the evening too. Any thoughts on how I can help DH become more confident?

He always comes up with an excuse when I try and leave O with him on his own. Like yesterday, I wanted to nip into town to get the saline nasal drops (45 mins tops) and he said he couldn't as he had too many jobs to do and had a headache. When I'm around he will caht away nicely with O and I don't think it's a lack of bonding.

glaskham · 31/08/2009 10:50

I think it's something that happens when your BFing Ses... DH is like that- i mean he will happily chat and play with them, change the odd bum etc... but the majority of the baby care is done by me- he thinks because i'm BFing and its all that will settle her. Maybe let DH have a trial run of feeding O his bedtime feed of EBM from a bottle and you stay in another room completely... You can express that feed instead so it's not changing the amount of frozen EBM you have for the night you need him to babysit...

I'm considering getting DH to have all 3 Dc's and having to feed DD2 EBm so i can have a night out in the next few months... considered going out after the christening last night but Dh was at footy aswell so just wouldn't have worked- but I'm desperate for a girls night out!! Haven't been out since DS was about 6 mths old- and that was my hen night- and i was home by 11pm!!

glaskham · 31/08/2009 12:16

OMG- have just started playing scrabble on FB- some guy called Ken is playing against me- he looks about 40 from his FB pic and he's saying i'm very pretty and asking if i can chat on MSN or Yahoo or anything- argh scary!! i may just end the game if he doesn't just play properly!! Plus side is i'm currently kicking his ass at it!!

Glask - how creepy!! I love playing scrabble on FB (will have to give you a game!) but have never had the courage to play anyone else other than someone who I know.

We're just off to a BBQ at my cousin's. Hope the rain stays away!

glaskham · 31/08/2009 12:56

He was very creepy- not sure who of my friends play it so just went on play anyone- then got the creepiest person ever- playing a girl now!!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 31/08/2009 19:34

Hi again guys, had a really crappy day today. Feeling very weepy - in fact, phoned mum and bawled my eyes out for ten minutes. Am so, so tired now, baby has been keeping me awake at night fidgeting about lots, DS is grumping alot, probably through boredom to be fair because mummy is too tired to entertain and DH is trapped upstairs in the bedroom arsing about trying to finish the decorating.

Its hard being married to a perfectionist.

I feel hungry all the time too, which I find tedious, I like to have three meals a day, this constant need to feed my face is very wearing, as I can't find anything I actually want to eat, so I end up feeling sick - it feels like the first trimester of my last pg at the moment.

Grump, grump, grump.

I so promised I wouldn't complain about being pregnant after the MC, but am really feeling very alone at the moment. DH is either working or decorating, so its just me and DS which is very bloody hard work at 35 weeks. The tantrums are just coming thick and fast and I know that if I could muster enough energy for a walk, he'd be a bit better...but I can hardly get off the sofa.

Sorry for self centred post.

I actually came on to ask if anyone used RLT capsules or drank the tea, and if so, where did you get it from? I've read that it can help make contractions more effective and my uterus was next to useless last time round so figure its worth a try... just don't know where to get it from...

Best go, DH has cooked a highly nutritious meal of pizza....

I'm not complaining, but I can't remember the last time we had vegetables...

I can't face cooking them, he can't be bothered to cook them...must be nice for those of you with DH's / DP's who actually looked after you in pregnancy

essenceofSES · 31/08/2009 20:26

Aww...STT [hugs]
Don't worry anout complaining - sounds like you need to. Wish I could actually do something a bit practical to help. Are there any "healthyish" snacks that you enjoy? Cherry tomatoes or fruit or carrot sticks? You could try having those by you for inbetween meals or to supplement meals?
As for RLT, I didn't use but I know some talked about getting them from Holland&Barrett.

We had a nice bbq with my cousin but DS and I are both feeling quite grotty with our colds. Think we might both head off to bed soon...
