Yup i did.that obvious! X

RetroMum1 · 26/08/2009 11:29

Congratulations all on scan results, I can't wait for mine now and it seems ages away. Not until 7th September when I will be 13 weeks. I tried to find the heartbeat yesterday as well on the doppler and although it did keep finding random high figures I couldn't hear it. Not sure if it's too early or I'm too fat .

Annamama my DD also wakes me up if i try to sleep on the sofa. She seems to think it's a game and shouts "Wake up Mummy" and then she starts snoring for me to do it back, very cute but i do really want to go to sleep!.

Mumbot let us know how you get on and if your dates change.

Well I better get on with my work, I'm supposed to be working from home !!

Walnut8 · 26/08/2009 11:41

Retromum, I know what you mean about the wait. My scan is the 8th of September - seems like a lifetime away! I asked my mum about dopplers (she's a GP) and she said they are told not to try them before 16 weeks as the uterus often doesn't rise out of the pelvis until at least 14 weeks making it difficult to hear beforehand (I think that's what she said). I'm still considering begging the consultant to try it at my booking in appointment tomorrow even though I'll only be 11+5

Hi everyone

Mrs Snow and Shyla - so sorry to hear your very sad news. Thinking of you and your families.

I haven't been on for a few days as I was waiting for scan yesterday.
All looked fine so I think my excitement finally kicked in! Kind of got nervous giggles when I saw it and as I laughed it was like it was on a trampoline bouncing up and down! Just made me laugh even more and then couldn't see anything until I had calmed down!

Sending everyone with up comings scans lots of good vibes and everyone who has already had successful scans congratulations.

Finally adding myself to the list.

Hi Ladies,
So sorry for you MrsSnow and Shyla. Big hugs to both of you.

I am not adding to the list yet even thought I have been on here for a while cause I am a couple of weeks behind the date I thought I am. I went for my 12 week scan and they said I was only 10 so am going for another one on the 8th. Think I will be 12 weeks on Monday instead. Have had a bad weekend. I was admitted to hospital with Hypremis Gravidium(spelling?). They kept me in on a drip and pumped me full of anti sickness drugs which I am still taking and seem to be working. Dehydration hallucinations are no fun, neither is vomiting blood(tmi I know). Hope Everyone else is keeping well and growing nicely. Any multips felt movements as early as 12 weeks before?

annamama · 26/08/2009 16:52

OMG LouBudd, you poor thing! Hyperemesis Gravidarum = excessive vomiting in pregnancy (I googled it...) Hope you get better! I won't feel sorry for myself for a little bit of nausea anymore...

Welcome Hecklephone!

Rubyslippers - sounds like your scan was fun!

just a quick post to say a big thank you for all your lovely messages.

really means alot.

glad to hear all your scans are going well.

i shall prob lurk around on here for a while just to see how you all are but i wont be posting.

good luck to you all. xx

TakeLovingChances · 26/08/2009 17:48

I got my scan at 10weeks+6days days . Midwife says the hospital was trying to scan people as soon as possible from 10 weeks. Something to do with waiting lists or something, I'm not sure.

In one way it was good to get a scan that early as it put my mind at ease somewhat. Yet at the same time I think a scan a few weeks later at 13 weeks or so would be much nicer as everything is more clear and more formed looking.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being a moan (is quite likely), but I'm just reading about many of you getting scans either bang on 12 weeks or a bit later and seeing the LO move about lots and being in different poses.

I did see arms and legs and a heartbeat in Baby TLC, but I do think things would have been clearer had the hospital waited longer.

I suppose each hospital is different and I'll know more for baby 2 in the future.

mumbot · 26/08/2009 18:10

Yay - scan went well dates moved forward a bit, saw bean waving at us

MummyElk · 26/08/2009 19:41

hi all
just to say Blooming marvellous seem to have quite a good sale on have just picked up some bits and bobs online - i just hope some of it fits!! (or you'll be seeing it again on ebay!)
DD pooed on the lounge floor today (she's 18months) after taking all her clothes off - bless her she was SO embarrassed . Still she did shout POOPOO to tell us which was just as well because i was sitting there halfwitted on the sofa. Tired mummy!
glad about good scans and still thinking of you Shyla, glad you hanging around still.
TLC interesting about scan - mine made my dates much earlier -9+2 then, and so they rebooked me in for another one in 3 weeks...i suppose the thing to do is take comfort baby TLC looked fine, they weren't worried enough to rebook you, and i'm sure 20wk scan will be here before you know it - and imho you forget pretty much what stage you were for your dating scan at that point because the 20wk scan is SO much better!

Arcadie · 26/08/2009 20:09

Hurray for good scans people. HURRRRRAY!!

I'm craving nectarines.

Can't get enough of em. Any other weird ones?

therubyslippers · 26/08/2009 20:34

Am definitely with you on the nectarines....and apples (which I normally won't touch) and ice cold melon.
Bring on the fruit cravings....for a moment my weakness was 3 bags of wotsits in a row!

Loubudd - sounds awful - poor you. Hope you keep feeling better.

LEMONADEGIRL · 26/08/2009 21:09

Shyla & Mrs Snow - So sorry to read your news. Wishing you both all the best for the future.

Glad scans are all comming back with good news.

I have mine tomorrow and am feeling bit nervous. Have had bleeding for past couple of days and after visiting the Doctors this morning they gave me an internal. Doctor has told me I have a closed cervix and cervial errosion which is what is causing the bleeding.

I went into panic mode but have been reassured by the doctors and some lovely mumsnetters that it is nothing to be concerned about.

Anyway will hopefully be posting some great news tomorrow.

PacificDogwood · 26/08/2009 21:24

It is just the nicest thing to see a bean with heartbeat or humenoid with arms and legs on scan, isn't it? Good luck to anybody who is still waiting for theirs!

After 4 MMCs Dh and I were NOT confident and soooo relieved there still was an ongoing pregnancy when I was scanned for my CVS last week .
CVS was painful this time (had 2 previous ones that were not so bad), took 2 attempts and in the end had a vigerous internal by another dr to push my retroverted uterus up - but we are expecting a healthy boy .

And, how do I add myself to the list? [thick]

designerbaby · 26/08/2009 22:01

Shyla, really really sorry to hear your news. I can't belive we've lost another one - it's so sad. HOpe you have lots of support and loved ones to help you through this difficult time. We'll be thinking of you here a lot.

I just got a letter from the hospital that my blood results from my booking showed elevated sugar levels. I have to go for a glucose tolerance test next thursday. Even though this had been mentioned by my MW as a possible cause for DD being so large, I'm still worried.

Mainly because it seems a bit early to be diagnosing gestational diabetes, whch makes me worry in case it's an underlying type II diabetes which they're picking up - this can mean an increase in the risk of neural tube defects and you're supposed to take shed loads of folic acid. I'm just taken ordinary pregnancy vits and even then I forget sometimes.

worry worry.

db
xx

Pingpong · 26/08/2009 22:27

anyone got any VBAC stories they want to share? I did mention it at the end of the first thread but then this one got started.
MW told me I would have a choice then consultant at 12 week scan was very pro VBAC, wrote that in my notes and rushed me out the door before I could ask any questions! I had em-cs due to failure to progress (hate that term!) basically DD's head got stuck.
Pacific congrats on the boy news ! My DH would be utterly delighted if we got that news! To add your name just cut and paste the most recent list
db don't have any experience of diabetes but hope it's preg related and not type II can understand why you would be worried though.
loubudd sorry to hear about the Hyperemisis sounds grim. Hope you start to improve.
TLC our hospital says they scan between 10-12 weeks and it's the dating scan and the 20 week one is the anomoly one. At least you get two - some areas just give you one at 16weeks!
and congrats to the other ladies with happy scan results
can't scroll through any more messages so sorry if I've overlooked anyone, I have to go to bed. like NOW!

veryworriedme · 27/08/2009 07:55

Hello all! very happy to see all the great scan results and new people on the list but very sad to hear Shyla's news. That must be so tough I cant imagine. One of my friends had 5 miscarriages before she had her daughter and they never knew why. I hope you are coping.
Donttrythisathome - i did take myself off to EPU. I called and said was there someone i could speak too and they said come in at 12.30. I was very pleasantly surprised at this super helpful and efficient response and so took the morning off and whizzed along. When i got there they said they never would have said 12.30 as last appointment at 12 and i would have to come back at 2. so kicked my heels until then only to return to a huge queue. After waiting for an hour I asked how much longer it might be and was told at least another 3 hours. So i am afraid i called the private ultrasound place ad they saw me in 30 mins. My scan was fine and the consultant said that while he would prefer it if i wasnt having the sort of pain i was he has had others complain of it and be fine. I guess you are fine till you are not and there is really no way of doing anything about it. I feel much better about it now although knowing me i will have another scan next week!
Very glad am not having Loubudd's experience - sounds horrible
Takelovingchances - that sounds a bit rubbish to me. When do they do the nuchal thingy then?
Rindercella - i really wish you hadnt put that Trevor the trucker idea in my head!
What is AIBU?

veryworriedme · 27/08/2009 07:59

Particular congratulations to PacificDogwood on her scan

Dophus · 27/08/2009 09:11

AIBU am i being unreasonable

Smac: I had a VBAC. I was pretty hung up on the idea as didn't want another CS.

I had ideas of no epidural and a water birth. I laboured in water for a while before screaming for more pain relief and eventually an epidural. The epidural pretty much stopped my labour and they recommended a CS. I resisted so they took me into theatre to try for a ventouse delivery (I was fully dilated, but contractions ahd pretty much stopped and I had no desire to push) ready to switch to a CS if unsuccessful.

The ventouse was very unpleasant as they had to make a large incision - nothing quite like having your undercarriage massacred. I found the first week of recovery everybit as bad as the CS but not as long. You don't get the great pain relief either!

With hindsight I wouldn't have been quite so hung up on the VBAC and this time I will have no preconceptions as to how the baby will be delivered but listen to the medical advice on offer and to my body.

annamama · 27/08/2009 09:31

MummyElk - at your DD pooing on the floor, bless her.

DB - ordinary pg vits still have quite a high dose of folic acid, I'm sure it's fine. Hope it's "only" gestational diabetes!

Congrats on good scans! Pacific, it must be exciting to know what it is already.

Anyone having lots of weird dreams all night long (if you can sleep)? I do, but I can never remember much. But last night I dreamt that a friend's baby was speaking fluent french and I was thinking oh my DD can't do that, I hope she's not retarded.

OP posts:
Arcadie · 27/08/2009 09:32

Pacific Hurray - what great news. I'm surprised they could tell already but so pleased for you!

Dophus That sounds urmmmm... like the kind of birth I wouldn't want. Fingers crossed all the more for this time.

veryworried hospitals and GPs sending out that kind of incompetent mixed message is the kind of thing that makes me really lose my cool and behave in a very cross fashion. Well done on you for just getting on with what you needed doing. Dumbasses at the EPU. You can cope with a wait, but not one that's been caused by other people being muppets... Grrr

Smac I have 3 friends who had VBACs. 2 very pleased with the experience, one who ended quite shocked by how painful labour could be and how much your undercarriage can get altered.

DB Hoping for a good GTT. Is that one where you can't eat for a few hours before hand...

Lemonade Scary - poor you. But good news on closed cervix. Sending good vibes for good results today.

And in other RKD news: we told DS about the baby today ( he's 3 and a half) DD wouldn't give a monkey's (she's 1 and a half) but DS looked chirpy, stated his preference for a brother and then asked if he could sit on my lap and maybe talk to the baby. Little sweetheart. Was in 2 minds about whether to tell him yet as he doesn't understand the concept of secret but he's going to hang out with cousins who know today and I wanted him to hear it from us first....

Happy Thursday people.
