Just updating myself as I had my dating scan today and its changed by 1 day.

Not posted on here for a while wanted to wait until I'd got my 12 week scan out of the way as I have had 3MC's but I can happily say that everything seems fine this time

Just got to tell my 9 year old DD tonight that she is going to have a little brother or sister....wish me luck

Scootergrrrl · 10/09/2009 13:56

Have been for my first scan - and there really is a baby in there . One with all the relevant bits and everything. I had taken DD out of school for the afternoon to come and see the baby but sadly she was more impressed with the playroom at the German hospital...

Tigresswoods · 10/09/2009 14:00

Hi all, no holiday plans here. My DH is going off on a boys holiday tomorrow and thus using up all of his holiday for this year, doh!

This means he will not have any holiday again until 2010 when I will be too far gone to fly. Double Doh!

Thought I would contribute something as have been lurking for some time. So my things to contribute are:

  1. Am 15 weeks this week and have my 16wk check in 2 weeks due to being away at friends while DH is away. can't wait to hear that Heartbeat!!!

  2. I seem to fluctuate having a tummy and not have one. Today, no tummy. One the weekend I had quite a tum on me. Why is this, it goes up and down, how odd.

  3. I am a little obsessed with all things pregnancy and love reading about it all online or in magazines. I can't wait for the next stage and the next etc. Its great!

So for now I will just continue being a obssessed with my (slow) progress and posting stuff on here and reading all about everyone else. Lovely.

therubyslippers · 10/09/2009 16:42

Hi everyone.
Haven't been on here for a while as soooo busy at work but decided enough was enough and I needed a Mumsnet fix!
So good to see everyone seems to be doing well and just too many posts to catch up on properly.

I have also had killer headaches and feel bad that I feel comforted that other people are aswell because they are so horrid!

Anyway - just like some of you we are jetting off on holiday in 10 days for a last fling - going to Italy to sit by Lake Garda and chill out. So excited. Actually I am generally excited now that the nausea and tiredness has abated!

As for the tummy thing Tigresswoods, I had the same and also had extreme pain with it. After 10 days of it my dad gave me a talking to (from 300 miles away) and packed me off to A&E at Midnight - they were actually laughing at my belly as I looked 5 months pregnant and the 20 week pregnant nurse helping the doctor looked half my size! Anyway - although I am going to the toilet (ish) they said it is totally constipation and drink prune juice and double up on my nectarine addiction. Now, I seem to have a regular 14 week pregnant belly and just stretching pains.
The hospital were, yet again, absolutely lovely.

ps - Anyone in the St Georges Hospital Tooting area who fancies a coffee let me know. Be nice to say hi!

Keep well everyone!
xxx

ilovegreenbeans · 10/09/2009 21:08

Just wondering- have we not discovered any twins amongst us yet??

(Yes, have disappearing bump too )

Tigresswoods · 10/09/2009 21:11

ilovegreenbeans and therubyslippers I am so pleased I am not alone in the disappearing bump thing.

One day I am bumpy and thinking, "This is it, get down mamas and papas and go mad for new trousers" and the next I am regular sized again. Today you would never know I was preggers... apart from the hour long nap in the middle of the working day.

Rindercella · 10/09/2009 21:26

Ssshhh ilovegreenbeans. I have my 12 week scan on Monday and I have an irrational (maybe?) feeling that I might be carrying twins.

The more I have looked into it, the higher the chance of me having twins has appeared to be...

Late 30s? Check
Breast feeding when conceived? Check
History of twins in maternal family? Check
(slighlty) Overweight? Check
Extreme tiredness/MS? Check
Huge bloody bump? Check

A house move would have to happen if that is the case!

Anyway, time will tell and here's hoping I'm just being a bit daft (though obv if I was pg with twins, we'd cope & everything would be great!)

Great news about all the lovely scans

Right, I am going to hide away and post again on Monday, post scan. Have a great weekend everyone

designerbaby · 10/09/2009 22:44

Hi all,
Well, it'd been quite a week in designerbaby world this week.

Firstly DD went down with a projectile-womiting bug in the wee hours of Saturday night. Fairly short lived (48 hours ish) but involved 5 changes of sheets/duvet/pjs/pillows and much extra washing to add to the already chaotic mid-house move bomb-site which is our house at present.

Then went in to work as usual on Monday morning, only to be called in to a company meeting and be told that there was to be another round of redundancies. Fairl major, for us - about a quarter of the firm. Sadly several long-standing members of the company, and one very close work-mate and friend (who's wife has just had their second child and who has just moved house). It's been very very sad - we're a very close-knit firm.

Side effect of this si that for the rest of us our work-load has just increased dramatically, so ended up having toswap my days and work until silly-o'clock every night this week.

Which was not helped by my going down with DDs tummy bug on Tuesday and spending the day alternating between my desk and being upended in the bathroom. Fun. Plus I feel like I cracked a rib or something vomiting, so now have really sharp pains under my right boob. It's probably just a pulled muscle, but it hurts like hell. By the time i got in from work at 11.45pm last night, it's fair to say I was feeling pretty sorry for myself, all told!

But, on the upside, had my nuchal scan and bloods today. Bubs is now 13 weeks, and so much bigger and better than at 9 weeks - it's amazing how they grow! Wriggling and kicking and stretching - bless! Nuchal measurement on the high-ish side, but still well within normal range, and as DD was off-the-scale and still fine I'm not panicking. Will wait to see what the combined result with the bloods is. He/she looked very active, which was good.

My mum's visiting to help with all the packing, but unfortunately now she's gone down with the dreaded bug too - am wondering how long DH has got before he succumbs...

Anyway, the packing ain't gonna do itself, thouse house honestly looks like it's been ram raided, and I'm just starting to think about panicking. NO matter how much stuff I pack, the asmount left never seems to get any less!

Aaaaaaargh etc.

Hope everyone's well - I'm sorry but I've only managed to skim-read...

Therubyslippers I will hopefully be a St Georges local by January so would love to hear if you plan any meet-ups - if I'm in the area (which I will be a fair bit, I imagine) I'd love to try and come - with a view to becoming a more regular attendee some time in January... ?

Anyhoo - I REALLY have to go now...

Hugs to all,

db
xx

annamama · 11/09/2009 08:40

Oh Rindercella it would be so exciting if you're carrying twins! I thought I might be too (but there is only one), and was almost a little bit disappointed... but relieved at the same time. Do let us know!

Ruby - that sounds awful about your tummy pain. Hope you get better.

Tigress - of course you're obsessed with your pregnancy, that's normal. Later on you'll be obsessed with getting all the equipment ready for baby, you'll be writing long lists etc.

Pingpong · 11/09/2009 10:35

I'm 16 weeks today and have just been sick again (I'm fed up - I didn't have all this sickness with DD so I'm convinced it's a boy this time.)
Yesterday I was floored with a migraine, luckly DH was home as I just couldn't function and had to lie down in a darkened room so much sympathy to all of you with killer headaches/migraines it's not good.
I've just had my 20w scan date through for 13th October and we were hoping to go away for a few days that week but now will rethink.
My blood results came through and a letter for my Anti D injection but I'm not having it this time as when we moved house I found DH's blood donor's card and he is also Rh neg.
I'm also green with envy of you lot having a foreign break. I'm trying to persuade DH we should have a week of sun and relaxation but he's not keen and would prefer a UK break.
Good luck to the housemovers, I moved when I was 20 weeks pregnant and again when DD was 17weeks old - not fun all that packing, I really couldn't face it again right now.
I'm also a bit about the talk of maternity coats! I've been thinking along the lines of a big raincoat like this for walking the dog - I lead a glamourous life you see!

annamama · 11/09/2009 11:03

hecklephone · 11/09/2009 13:28

annamama loving your 'signs of...' post! I am ticking off stuff from both lists but perhaps a little more from the boy list...(or is it just subconscious wishful thinking..???) especially suffering with dry hands and craving more savoury, salty foods. lol at "refusal to eat the heel of bread loaf" and "pillow facing north/south"!! What if your pillow faces north west or south east - what are you having then??

As for shape of tummy, well, it just looks a bit fat. Roll on that nicely rounded pregnancy tummy look! And yes, I do think it kind of comes and goes - sometimes I think I don't look pregnant at all, then the hideous bloating/indigestion kicks in and whoops - it's back out there again.

Rindercella - also would be v excited if you're having twins! All the best with your scan on Monday.

Thanks for the pic of your maternity coat pureeandpearls - it looks lovely. And well done for changing the weather for us! Sod's law - as soon as you buy winter gear, the sun's back out and no chance to wear it

Number of preghead incidents today - 2: went into town for an appointment and forgot my wallet (v annoying!!)
then missed turnoff in the car on the way home cos I was daydreaming.

therubyslippers · 11/09/2009 14:15

I love the test!!!!! I had a feeling I was having a girl and practically every one is right - including my age added up alongside the month of conceiving! I am 33 and I conceived in June!!! And this morning I thought that my hair had gone slightly red.
I love stuff like this!!!!! Thanks Annamama!

Smac - hope you feel a bit better.

Designerbaby - work news is awful. No fun for morale, even if you are lucky enough to still have your job.
Be lovely to meet up in January!

Have lovely weekends everyone!

smac DON'T BUY THAT COAT YOU'LL LOOK LIKE A MILKMAN!!!!
And increasingly over the months you'll look like a big melon......

Can I ask a question pls...and i'm not sure it'll apply to flat tummied people ( at annamamma in her bikini)....or even first timers BUT has anyone got that horrid overhang sort of thing going on with their bump/tummy/Sagalot??? . I had lost most of my pg weight from DD but seems like with this pg i'm just sort of....flumping over my jeans.... not the best look!!

I'm off on hols next week too, am thinking tankini for public places and bikini for when it's just the 3 of us..

Had a load of other questions for you all but have forgotten them (of course). My preghead moment of the day climaxed at looking up "big yellow melon" on google images for my attack at Smac - and realising that Yellow Melon did make sense... . What a nobber.
Glad you all feeling well. me too. 13 wk scan next weds. can't wait!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 11/09/2009 16:44

wow. Fab news pixie!!!!! so very excited for you xxxxxx

ilovegreenbeans · 11/09/2009 16:47

fab news pixie! rindercella, you're off the hook

PacificDogwood · 11/09/2009 16:51

Pixie, how exciting!!

Tigresswoods · 11/09/2009 17:47

Hey pixieonaleaf great news. Well done you!

I had convinced myself (along with everyone else it seems) that I would have twins as I have fraternal twins bros and was on Clomid but it was not to be for me.

I'm so pleased for you, be ready for all the usual questions, are tehy identical etc.

Enjoy!!!!!

pureeandpearls · 11/09/2009 17:55

Pixie- great news! I'm just big enough that I look like I'm carryig twins.

On which note, MummyElk- I have a similar flumping issue....

DB- nightmare week. Hope the weekend's easier!

Having a fecking nightmare at the mo- MW told me to make a 16 week appt, but doc's insisted I don't need one (my mw is a surgery-based group.) Then mw called this week asking why they hadn't seen me. I explained and they asked me to see them at hospital clinic this am. Waited 45 mins and they didn't show then I had to leave to get to physio. Gah- why is it so hard???????

Physio confirmed SPD and sent me for a support belt so look like a granny now....good thing it's getting cooler- they're so bloody itchy you have to wear a vest underneath them.

[waves to everyone and goes back to the SPD sofa to grumble some more]

MummyElk · 11/09/2009 18:05

oh my goodness pixie!!!! must have cross posted - WELL DONE THAT'S GREAT NEWS!!!
bloody hell...how exciting!

hecklephone · 11/09/2009 19:01

Congratulations pixie! Two for the price of one - how exciting!

smac i'm definitely with you on the flumping overhang thing and it's now forcing the waistband of my jeans down so that the whole crotch area starts to look lovely and saggy - nice. Methinks I'll stick to leggings til the maternity jeans are brought into play. Or perhaps experiment with a bump band, in the vain hope it'll hold all the flumpage at bay for a bit longer! And I have to agree with you about smac's coat - sorry smac but it is a bit, well, Captain Birdseye.

One more preghead moment today, bringing the total to 3 (so far) - forgot to bring DD's childminder's payment when I picked her up today, despite deliberately placing it in a well marked envelope under my house keys next to the back door. Hm.

Very excited for you (in a quite glad it isn't me way). Twins sounds amazing fun, especially since you know what you're doing!

PacificDogwood Took your advice. Am dosed up on Paracetamol. Squirted a whole load of saline stff up my nose. Saline rinse = most boakworthy thing in the world. Phoned my GP and booked myself a 3:40 appointment today. My GP is in York (where I live). I was at the time in West Kent (where my parental units live). We set off at 10:45. We sat for 1 1/2 hours on the M25 as some lorry drivers had taken out one of the Dartford Tunnels. We then sat for another 45 minutes outside Nottingham for no discernable reason. I did not make my 3:40 appointment. I am grumbled.

But I am feeling better. Hurrah! Thanks for your soothing words.

mumbot · 11/09/2009 19:56

Well done everyone for great scans and twinnage! How exciting.

Had my scan at 15w 1d today and the sonographer said she thought it was a boy!

Wonder how accurate that is?? Anyone else had any gender guesses from scans?

xxxx

annamama · 11/09/2009 20:22

No way Pixie! Congratulations, that's really exciting! I hope your older kids will help out a lot... I'm (almost) jealous. I bet you'll be on twin threads now, but hoping you'll still be on here too...?

I quite like the coat Smac, and it looks very practical! Don't listen to these fashion victims...

Re bellies... I've always had a bit of a belly on me, but I guess it's sticking out rather than hanging down... I guess we're all different (and that goes for everything of course). MummyElk - I looked like the white whale stranded on the beach in my bikini so don't be too ... But I feel more confident about my body when pg for some reason.

In other news, I have to say that I'm feeling quite well now, almost "blooming". And have started having a morning cup of coffee again, hurrah!
