Congratulations mrsthepoint, mama2leah, crafty, nellyup and queenoftheharpies !

Heinz hope the monitoring goes OK

Trixy - good luck, hope things are moving on for you

I was sitting at the computer yesterday and all of a sudden I could breathe, I felt her drop down and wow is it about 1 million times better! I can cope with a little bit more pregnancy if I can breathe and eat again. Had an active birth class at the local birth centre yesterday and the midwife was so positive I just want to GET ON and DO THIS THING. Bring on more babies (esp mine, asap!)

CoonRapids · 10/08/2009 22:11

Rubbish, rubbish situation here. Dh and I ended up shouting at each other after he'd lost his front door keys due to the usual careless way men move these things around from pocket to pocket to bag etc. etc. And we woke up ds... feel terrible now and not at all like going into labour tonight (I'm 40+4). It's all a bit stressful really. But at least he's found the keys now (in the car!!!) and have reassured ds that all is ok.

kitkatqueen · 10/08/2009 22:39

So Many congrats to dish out you LUCKY MUMMYS!!!! So looking forward to meeting my babe soon.

Heinz, Hope u r ok. Keep in touch, thinking of you!!

Well i'm hoping that I might be a step further towards popping babe has moved round in the night last night and is now ROA, He's been LOA ever since I turned him from breech in the bath and is now in the position that all the other 3 went into before being born. Hoping this is a positive sign!!

I am 38+6 today and midwife has told me that I don't need to see anyone for 2 weeks?????!!! I am effectively 39 weeks so I will be 41! I have always been to see midwife at 40 weeks before to arrange induction if necessary and get a sweep. Maybe they have changed the rules??

odd.

Hope lots of you are going into labour as we speak

Good luck all.

kitkatqueen · 11/08/2009 01:10

Nandos Hope you are feeling better now your doc should not have gotten irritated with you for anything when trying to stitch you up. I have been really lucky to avoid stitches so far, but it sounds like you had a bit of a scary time with bleeding etc. Hope you are ok, Your baby is gorgeous!

tigermoth · 11/08/2009 08:29

scummymummy - hello! hope things are going well. I see your EDD was 6 August. Thinking of you all

duchesse · 11/08/2009 10:13

Ok, bored with being pregnant now. Today would be good.

39+1

ScummyMummy · 11/08/2009 10:50

Thanks, tigermoth. This baby seems to be like my twins and be completely disinterested in due dates! Hope you are well, btw.

Duchesse- I know what you mean! 40 +5 today and counting. Hospital have booked me into their postdates clinic for tomorrow. I think it's just for a check-up and to discuss the options/recommendations re induction rather than to do anything per se. Am really hoping induction won't be necessary as I understand it's not the greatest plan if you want a vbac, which I do if possible.

mama2leah · 11/08/2009 14:38

my birth story...
well i went to the doctors on wednesday for routine check up, as soon as i entered her room she started speaking of induction, which i wasnt keen for..i then said i wanted it proved that i need induction, so was sent for various scans, results showed small growth and placenta working to hard. advice for induction asap, i said no and i came home to think what i wanted, wrote on mumsnet..and made a decision that il go with it..went back to hospital to be sent back home at 2am..and return at 8 am. i returned was talked through induction and had a 24 hour gel put in... i walked, bounced, rested, pottered around nothing... friday 3am i woke up, bored and i though i need to bounce and walk because they are going to re-assess my condition at 11... well i bounced on the ball for 30 mins, and laid down..i started feeling a tummy ache..and thought has my labour started...
doctor came at 10 am, ctg showing irregular contraction, and i said to her i am in labour, this is what happened with dd, she didnt believe me and said my face says im not in labour ( silly moo) i said to her i dont want my waters broken, she said nothing they can do, i asked how far dilated can i be before u wont break my waters she said anything more then 4cm..so i went walking, bouncing... come 11:30 i was 4cm dilated wooohoo!
i had a brilliant midwife, who i told i wasnt keen on intervention and i wanted a natural birth...she supported me, and didnt really understand why induce me for a small baby judging by my size.
from 11:30 then she checked me, she done a sweep ( whcih was beter then having my waters broken) and then i started getting contraction every 2 mins, stronger and longer... by 1:30 i knew i was in labour, still not that painful, i threw up...and got moved to delivery suite at 2:30...while midwife preparing the room, and i was just laughing with her, dh went to get something...he left my waters broke i was in shock and laughing, midwife checked said i was only 6 cm and said my dh should return quick or he will miss birth, and which point i said he is bloody never around wen u need him! lol as he walked into the room, i had the urge to push ( 2mins later) i panicked thinking im only 6cm, midwife said breath out, i breathed and she was born! i was in shock, 3 puffs of gas and air, it didnt even kick in!!!!
the doctor was horrible, and patronising, my midwife was amazing, supportive, encouraging and gave me the best birth experience from my worse nightmare...

labour 4 hours total!

kitkatqueen · 11/08/2009 14:54

Wow, congrats mama2leah!! Fab birth story! Congratulations!!

trixymalixy · 11/08/2009 15:37

Well so much for 2nd labours being faster!!

I had a little baby girl at 7.50 this morning. no name yet. 7lbs 8oz.

Got my home birth which was great although long apart from running out of gas and air!! Will update story fully another time.

kitkatqueen · 11/08/2009 15:42

congrats trixy!!

VJaybigpants · 11/08/2009 16:03

Great birth story mama2leah and congrats trixy. Please let it be my turn soon, I know I've got 2 weeks to go, but I'm soooooo ready . I'm sat here bouncing away on my ball

BabyBump2B · 11/08/2009 17:32

Congrats Trixy! And thanks for the story Mama2Leah.

40 + 2 today and feeling ok. Much less anxious than last week weirdly. Have def discovered that getting out of the house makes a massive difference so heading into town with DH today and booked a massage and a nice dinner. I've decided I don't want a sweep on Thursday at my midwife appointment because the disappointment of them not being able to do it last week was too much. I've made my peace with the fact that she'll be here when she wants to come and until I need to start avoiding induction I'll just let her be!

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

ScummyMummy · 11/08/2009 17:50

Many congratulations, trixy.

ScummyMummy · 11/08/2009 17:53

Glad you are feeling less frustrated, bb2b. Agree with getting out and about as distraction. I'm fluctuating between quite enjoying myself thank you very much and wanting the baby to come right now!

geordieminx · 11/08/2009 18:17

(((((((quick hijack)))))))) Congrats Trixy, delighted for you all.

Hawkmoth · 11/08/2009 19:15

Wow, congratulations to everyone.

I'm still intact, and feeling pretty good physically.

Learnt a valuable lesson on impatience though. No 40 week appointments available so I toddled off to the drop in clinic, thinking how good I was being, sticking to the schedule, and going to ask for a sweep as utterly over nightly painful CTX and the grinding of my pelvis.

So MW obviously very bad at her job. BP up - but NOT 40 minutes later at hospital. Baby frighteningly small - but NOT on scan today (sonographer actually asked WHY we were there!). Two days of stress, knobhead midwives and now I have to find a way of wriggling out of an ANC appointment on Friday (more sex Mr Hawkmoth???).

Anyone have any ideas of how I should have responded when MW at delivery said THIS to me "You're in now. Once we've got our mitts on you we don't let you go"???????????

hencath · 11/08/2009 19:36

Hi all, thoroughly fed up like everyone else at the moment. Congrats to all with new babies.

I saw my midwife today (Im 39+6) and was offered a sweep. Was a little nervous after hearing how painful it can be. However after another sleepless night and SPD returning decided that it if it worked the pain would be worth it. As it happened not painful, just uncomfortable - like a smear. Midwife seemed pretty pleased, said I was about 1cm dilated and cervix nice and soft. She felt hopeful it wouldnt be too long, not getting my hopes up too much though. She mentioned I would bleed and may even see fresh blood and not to worry about it but I didnt ask how much to expect. How long do you bleed for? Does anyone have any experience of bleeding post sweep?

Other than that sat waiting, waiting and waiting! Keeping fingers, toes and everything else crossed that something stirs tonight. Would be lovely to have baby on due date- almost unheard of.

OonaghBhuna · 11/08/2009 22:07

Congratulations Trixy!!!

OonaghBhuna · 11/08/2009 22:07

and everyone else

HeinzSight · 12/08/2009 01:39

Congrats trixy and mama

I might be in labour....
midwife came to see me today because I wasn't feeling right, she examined me and said I was 3cm dilated. She also said all signs pointing to it happening in the next 24 hours.

I've been having tightenings since about 4. Tried to get to sleep but they were too distracting so have come downstairs to entertain myself whilst timing them. They're about 8 mins apart and lasting for a minute or so.

will keep you posted

Longtalljosie · 12/08/2009 08:44

Congratulations Trixy and Mama!

Due date today, but suspect it won't make any difference, no symptoms to speak of.

Off to cut up yet another bloody pineapple...

tigermoth · 12/08/2009 09:26

Good luck with your hospital appointment today, scummymummy. When I was pregnant with ds2, also an August born baby, he arrived about 10 days after my due date, and the hospital staff were going to talk to me about an induction date - ds2 just got there first.

I remember feeling you describe of liking the extra time to myself, but also wanting my baby to arrive.

I hope you're enjoying having your gorgeous twins around. It's nice there's no school run to worry about. Bet they're excited!

Hawkmoth · 12/08/2009 11:02

Oooh, I want an update from Heinzsight!

kitkatqueen · 12/08/2009 12:20

Hawk!! So do I!!!

Hawk - the reply to the midwife should be "really? Watch me make a hawkmoth shaped hole in that door! Notes please!"

Well I was getting superb contractions last night, saw osteopath yesterday and he certainly sparked everything off I was jogging round asda looking for a big ball at 9.30 because I couldn't sit still. Contractions went on until about 2am and stopped. Gutted. But I didn't really expect to get that lucky . My bets are still on me going way overdue.

Come on heinz Where are you?????????
