Due date today and I am FED UP. I am sick of people phoning and asking stupid questions/saying stupid things . FGS I was 8 days late with dd, had no signs beforehand so why is it so strange that I'm not having any this time???? My aunty is the worst...apparently she has a feeling that it's a boy and wanted to know who did the scan that showed a girl. When I told her it was a sonographer she said "Oh so it was someone qualified then?" wtf? did she think I got some random stranger off the street to nick an ultrasound machine or summat? . Then she always ends her phonecalls saying "I don't want to speak to you again until baby's here" and I always want to say "Well f*ing stop phoning me then"

ScummyMummy · 04/08/2009 10:26

lol, crafty! My mil rang up to ask if I had any pains the other day. She thinks she's psychic so was mildly offended when I said no as it represents an official failure of her powers... Mind you, I expect she will retrospectively claim psychic victory somehow or other, whenever the baby arrives. My due date is Thursday but it hasn't really sunk in somehow so I think I must be secretly resigned to being late too. Or maybe I'm just in denial that giving birth is an imminent and inevitable part of having another baby.

Hawkmoth · 04/08/2009 13:01

Congratulations to the new arrivals.

The only progress here is that I have a waist again, and therefore look like I'm shoplifting a turkey in my tracksuit bottoms (not that I'm wearing a tracksuit, but you get what I mean...).

sheenaisapunkrocker · 04/08/2009 13:22

Hello everyone. I'm now 2 days overdue and still having the night time contractions which amount to absolutely zilch. DH was a complete nervous wreck yesterday,as he was convinced that things were going to move on any minute for every minute of the day!

I have sent him to work today as I can't cope with it! I am so of the arrivals so far

My brother phoned to see if there was any news, which would have been amusing if not so annoying . On what level do relatives think that we are going to withold arrival news? "oh sorry, brother, I forgot to say that I had my baby last week"

Hawkmoth · 04/08/2009 13:41

When my sister asked on facebook if I'd had mine, I replied "yes, just keeping it quiet for a few days". Mwah ha haaaa!!! She was momentarily gutted before she realised I was being an arse.

HeinzSight · 04/08/2009 13:45

Hi all,

Massive congratulations to all the arrivals, how exciting.

I also have resigned myself to the idea of being overdue, although I am getting organised just in case.

I remember all the phonecalls when I was expecting my first, it made me want to SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM Like you need reminding that you haven't had your baby yet!!

Off to read MakkaPakkas thread xx

monkeyfeathers · 04/08/2009 14:00

I'm also jealous of all the new arrivals. I'm not even due until next week (although my LMP date is tomorrow). I've been getting painful evening and night cramps for days and days too, which is just annoying.

quixotic · 04/08/2009 14:37

LOL at you smuggling a turkey in your trackies Hawkmoth!

Am also getting the calls - calling to chat about random things but really just want to know if I've dropped it or not. Doesn't help that due date by LMP was last Wednesday, and by scan is two weeks on Thursday, this might go on for a while.

Off to see the midwife - what are the chances she is going to say it is imminent, slim to none I think?

monkeyfeathers · 04/08/2009 15:03

I'm going to see the midwife later this arvo and also hoping she'll say its imminent.

She won't though.

sheenaisapunkrocker · 04/08/2009 15:05

lol at Hawkmoth's facebook story

mama2leah · 04/08/2009 15:30

congrats everyone...

i just wanted to ask, those suffering for spd, what pain relief are you thinking of using?

craftynclothy · 04/08/2009 15:44

I have spd, though it has been much much better since baby's head engaged. My current plan is no pain relief. Am planning on being in the pool and hoping I'll manage! Gas & Air is available if I want it too. Am kinda just hoping it's as quick as my first birth (2 hours).

nellyup · 04/08/2009 19:04

So glad I'm not alone in being really fed up of all the 'have you had it yet?' enquiries. There's definitely a way to do it right - I've had a few people who've had the sense to phrase it as 'oh poor you, you must be still waiting, I'm thinking of you' which is soooooo much better than 'well, have you had it?'. My dad keeps ringing up and saying 'will you just get a move on please' which is making me really - cos I'm now a week and a half overdue.

quixotic · 04/08/2009 19:05

Anybody else's baby not engaged at all yet? Thinking this means it will be a while ??

MrsThePoint · 04/08/2009 19:15

I am also getting really p*** off with the 'have you had it yet?'.

As sheena said, it's not as if we're not going to tell people. I just want to say 'As soon as it's here we'll let you know FFS!'

cairns · 04/08/2009 19:19

I'm with all of you on the overdue bit too. It is my 'official' due date today based on my scan results, but my date based on my dates was a week ago. I kind of have been hoping it was going to be in the middle of them both and had incorrectly physched myself up for today being the 'last possible day!!'

oh well, don;t know if it is me imagining it, hoping or what but have been having more regular braxtons the last hour or so and (TMI alert) had the feeling of being v v constipated but nothing happening if you see what i mean (this happened with DS1 too, this was the only signs as I had no show or waters breaking until I was in hospital) so am hoping that these are early signs... although it might be my brain imagining these things given I am so narky of not having had the baby yet... will keep you posted

quixotic · 04/08/2009 21:11

Fingers crossed it is the start for you cairns!

kitkatqueen · 04/08/2009 21:26

Well ladies, there is supposed to be a big rise in births around the full moon and I just checked and the time for the full moon to "hit" is 00:55 on the 6th August. ( give or take 5 mins )

So lets concentrate!!! Get all the rest of the jobs done by then - washing up to date all that malarky and see just how many of us can pop them out in time for the full moon???

I've been getting constant cramping all afternoon interspersed with long strong contractions and yet i'm still not dilating .

My only good bit of news is that when dp got home he checked and could feel the babies head through my cervix so bubs is deffo fully engaged is that the top TMI comment of the day???? and my cervix is soft and starting to thin out.

I'm starting to get really stressed that with all the hefty BH's i'm getting I'm going to overlook the real things when they finally turn up as just more BH's and not ring dp soon enough to get home and get me to hospital in time to get anti b's. I know I can go to hospital without him but if that scenario happens I am going to be so stressed out until he turns up.

I think I am just going to have to spend Thursday night eating curried pineapple whilst having hanky panky and bouncing on the trampoline...

ScummyMummy · 04/08/2009 21:32

Wow, kkq- am impressed at your husband's midwifery skills!

My bump has been rock hard all day. Does that mean anything? Probably not...

BabyBump2B · 04/08/2009 21:40

Is feeling weird a sign of labour because I'm feeling really strange today. My back is achy, I keep thinking I have cramps and then think its all in my head. I feel really low energy and "off". Totally not myself.

And KKQ I'm not sure I could even find my cervix so an tres impressed by your DH!

mamamila · 04/08/2009 22:17

babybump2B i feel exactly the same totally not right.
no energy can't be bothered to do anything. got horrible skin crawling sensation all over especially in bed and knees and heels really aching.
dd launched a suprise jump on bump today which has panicked me but baby seems to be moving about as before

bad moment today discovered mountain buggy carrycot doesn't fit double so need to buy another 1 fast and sell this 1..aghh and i thought we were organised

Longtalljosie · 04/08/2009 22:24

I don't feel right either - really, really emotional. Haven't really had a weepy pregnancy at all so a bit of a surprise. Does this mean anything, do you think? Probably not...

Uki · 05/08/2009 00:18

Hi All

Sorry to hear of your late pregnancy woes.
You all sound like your going to have a baby any minute to me ...
because you all have the clasic 'feed up'
behaviour. my dr. knows about this symptoms because he just gives you this look, when you walk in, like he knows already.

anyway i hope the full moon works.

Have you all watched the movie 'Knocked up'
OMG i saw it last night, I thought it was so funny, and even though it portrays prgnancy a bit too realisticaly, i still watched it thinking, oh i might not ever go through that again with a tear in my eye...oh dear

Uki · 05/08/2009 00:20

LOL fed up, although we all like a bit of a feed to in late pg

YanknCock · 05/08/2009 02:28

Ok so after a week of being dead tired and sleeping all the time, suddenly tonight I can't sleep. Baby won't stop moving, getting cramps and twinges down low, and got loads of braxton hicks all day. Just turned the computer back on to load up some more podcasts on the ipod, to see if I can lull myself to sleep with people talking. I should try my natal hypnotherapy, that always puts me right out in the middle of the day!

Some things I'm wondering....can you have contractions without having a show first? Could you mistake a mild 'real' contraction for baby movements? Apparently I have been having Braxton Hicks and was confusing them with the baby sticking his arse out, according to the midwife.
