Haven't posted much but lurked on this thread a lot.

Beatrice was born by elective c-section on the 23rd july and weighed 6lbs 12ozs.

The section was fab but post-natal care abysmal. was discharged/kicked out after 24 hrs despite ds2 being at home with contagious phase chicken pox.

But all well now. Feeding has been more challenging than i expected as its my third but we're getting there.

Congratulations to all the new arrivals and good luck to those waiting.

becksydee · 01/08/2009 11:52

congrats to nandos and tracey!!!

i'll update the list in a minute

Millions of congratulations, traceybath and Nandos.

I'm in awe of your super-fast labour, nandos. Hope you're ok after the bleed- drink lots of Floradix.

Sorry your aftercare was rubbish, tb. But glad things are going well now.

Beatrice and Ibrahim are both lovely names.

Not so much as a twinge here, so far! Still, we are in August proper now so I guess we'll all be delivering within the next few weeks or so... And apparently my baby has started to engage, which is good. I think lots of curry, pineapple and sex may be called for.

fairygirl3 · 01/08/2009 14:10

congratulations tracey, was there a reason for them kicking you out so soon swine flu/v.busy ? or is that their normal policy ?
sounds very quick,i remember with my 1st & 2nd many years ago ,you had to stay in 5 nights after section ,so was v.pleased it had gone down to 2 nights with my 3rd but i think i would find 24hrs a bit of a shock .

trixymalixy · 01/08/2009 14:58

Ooh, more babies!!! Congrats traceybath and nandos!!!!

We're having curry for our dinner tonight.

OonaghBhuna · 01/08/2009 15:12

Congratulations tracey!!! Dont forget to look at our post natal thread, Im feeling a bit lonely over there so looking forward to lots of news now that we are in August Its so exciting!!!

mamamila · 01/08/2009 18:16

congrats tracey i love love love the name Beatrice!

jeez out 24 hrs after section and with 2 more kids at home, one with chicken pox?? how are you feeling/ coping? hope you have lots of help

i was talking to my aunt last night and i have to say i agree with the old system of 10 days bed rest with the babies cared for in a nursery and bought onto ward for feeds only! well maybe 10 days is too long but i'd be happy for at least 3..

sheenaisapunkrocker · 01/08/2009 18:18

Congratulations Tracey!

Makka - how are you? Saw my midwife yesterday and told her about my night time contractions. She said that sometimes thats how it goes for a bit before labour "proper". She recommended a homeopathic remedy to take at night to calm things down a bit and help me get a good night's sleep (although she followed this up with a rider that if labour's coming, then it will come!). Normally I'm dead sceptical about homeopathy (water memory ) but I gave it a try and goddamnit it worked (WTF?)

Bizarre. Can't decide now whether to have another one tonight, or a lovely curry. Decisions, decisions

traceybath · 01/08/2009 19:17

Thanks for all the congratulations

The nasty midwife (must say i've never encountered a horrid one until this one) told me they needed the beds. But as they'd discharged 20 women that day according to another one i don't think that was the case.

Am coping ok although my mother has just left and i did burst into tears at the thought of coping! Problem is i can't lift my 19 month old which is annoying but sure we'll get there.

BabyBump2B · 01/08/2009 19:30

Congrats Traceybath! I can't believe they kicked you out so soon - thats terrible!

Can't believe I'm only a week away from my due date. And that it doesn't feel imminent.

Thankfully its cooled off a bit - we apparently broke the record for the highest recorded temperature ever in the area on Wednesday - I'm hoping it never gets that hot again!

Think I have the anti-nesting bug - the house is a disaster and I have absolutely NO desire at all to do anything about it. Anyone else feel the same?

Happy August ladies - lets hope those babies start arriving!

valz · 01/08/2009 19:38

hey ladies, congrats to those who have already had their new borns, how exciting, there'll be new arrivals from now on in. Im 38 weeks on monday and still patiently waiting on my two, really thought id have gone by now.

in absolute agony at the mo, PILES, ouch, ive had them for a while but they were never really sore maybe only for a minute while i was on the toilet. but the other day all of a sudden my arse started aching. That night i hardly slept with the pain and the next day i couldn't walk sit or stand they had got so bad. got the cure and was to ring back today to let them know how i was, think they have eased a little but im still in agony so i have to ring back on monday again. im still in an awful pain and am shitting myself in case i go into labour while i have them as im getting it bad enough just sitting.

has anyone else had a bad case of the piles, if so how did ya get rid of them and how long did it take? ive never experienced anything like it in my life!!

kitkatqueen · 01/08/2009 21:52

Nandos and Tracey congratulations!!!!!

Nandos, Hope you are ok after the post birth bleed. Would love to be able to "order" a labour that quick Mine have tended to take ages to warm up and then plod along...

Tracey at your midwife for discharging you - that is outrageous! Where ever are you that they discharge post c-section after 24 hrs???

Have you had cp yourself and are you breast feeding?? If you have and you are that is THE BEST protection your beautiful girl can get.

Best wishes to both of you!

kitkatqueen · 01/08/2009 22:05

Makka - thats what was happening to me the other week loads of contractions that seemed very good real proper perfectly respectable contractions and yet they did nothing!??

agree totally on the wtf?

However they eventually decided that "something" was irritating my womb and that it was a uti - 3 lots of anti b's later it happens again and when I asked my gp to look into it they said that I had never actually had a uti at all.

So another trek to the hospital and they still have no idea what is causing the irritation, personally I think its the baby

Very nice midwife said that after doing it 3 times before my body is getting used to giving birth and is getting too good at it.

I am now convinced I am going to get so blase about all of the contractions that I am going to have a cry wolf situation and end up delivering the baby all by myself on the sofa.

I'm hoping however that your recent silence might mean you have indeed popped

Grr to swollen feet and indigestion!

MrsThePoint · 01/08/2009 22:08

Been catching up on you all since Tuesday, so loads to read. Sorry if I miss anyone!

sheenaisapunkrocker and craftynclothy I too am getting sick of everyone phoning to ?see if there?s any news? and neighbours saying ?has she had that baby yet? to DH!

magbags DS knows it?s getting close now as there are no more birthdays to count. We?ve been counting in ? first is pop?s birthday, then grandad?s, then daddy?s, then grandma?s etc. Mine was end July so we were hoping baby didn?t come too early as it would be hard to explain that. We now tell him that baby will be here soon, but we just don?t know when. He said today ?blimey baby is getting big? looking at my bare tummy!

Went swimming today with DH and DS. Felt so nice feeling weightless. Feel so heavy normally!

Congrats traceybath on Beatrice?s arrival, Nandos on Ibrahim?s arrival, LeninGrad on your baby, and martinemorris on Oliver?s arrival. Also congrats. To Annie on your December babe!

I?ve had two false starts now and feel like baby and my body are playing tricks on me! Don?t mind being pg if there?s no pain, but if I?m going to hurt like this I?d rather have the baby come out!!!

Hope you can all rest tonight!

craftynclothy · 01/08/2009 22:55

Congratulations Tracey. at how quick they sent you home.

Nandos - hope you're feeling ok and are recovering well. Hope the quick labour wasn't too shocking for you (Mine was about that quick first time and it shocked me - mw didn't help!).

No news here. Am officially on maternity leave though (dh is doing the business for me!) and my maternity allowance claim came through all approved. Means I can start paying the midwife!!!

BumpVLump · 02/08/2009 12:29

Hello all.
Just wanted to pop in to say our daughter Lillie was born July 22nd by c section.
Not the best experience- long story!
But she is AMAZING.
Nothing has quite prepared me for the sleepless nights and my nipples are agony but other than that all good.
On day 11 now and it is gradually getting easier...
HUGE good luck to every one and congrats to the other mummies
xx

Forester · 02/08/2009 13:27

Congratulations Bump, Nandos and Tracy! Hope all going well.

It's my EDD today but other than odd twinge no sign of impending labour. Had curry last night and planned on bit of rumpy but DH too tired ...

Interesting re full moon - maybe that will be my trigger .

YanknCock · 02/08/2009 14:03

Just in case you didn't see the other thread, MakkaPakka's water broke last night and she was on her way to the hospital as of 11pm-ish! I am so jealous of her going early. I am 36+5 today and feel miserable. Can't even haul myself off the sofa or bed, DH has to lug me to my very swollen feet.

I know many first timers are late, and that is often attributed to dates being off, but do I have a better chance of being on time because I'm absolutely certain of my dates? I was temping and charting and know without a doubt that my due date is correct!

VJaybigpants · 02/08/2009 14:15

Congratulations to all the babies born this last week, they're all popping out now .
yank I'm 36+4 today and totally fed up! This is my 2nd, and my 1st was 18 days late, there is no way I'm going on that long, so I'm drinking my raspberry tea and bouncing on my ball.

craftynclothy · 02/08/2009 15:32

BumpVLump - congratulations. Sorry things didn't go great, hope you're ok x

Yank - I think I read somewhere (and it might have been here!) that first babies are often about a week late. In fact when my mum was pregnant with my sister that's actually the date they used to work out due dates (i.e. 41 weeks from lmp date etc.) rather than the current one.

Am due on Tuesday but no signs of anything happening. Feel a bit strange about it all tbh. On one hand I'm excited and want the baby here but on the other hand I've been much more comfy since baby engaged and we don't know if we'll have any more (another would mean we needed a lottery win I think!) so I feel a bit sad that I might never be pregnant again.

duchesse · 02/08/2009 18:39

crafty- in France they use 41 weeks as the due date. They still like to induce at 42 weeks, but at least the vast majority of women don't feel that they into extra time just because they have gone beyond the arbitrary date determined by some dubious calculation.

ScummyMummy · 02/08/2009 19:01

Congratulations on Lillie's arrival, BumpVLump. She sounds lovely. Sorry you had a hard time with the birth- how are you recovering? I've put you and Lillie on the list:

Babies Here
MichaelaS EDD 20 Aug 1st May @24 +1
Oonaghbhuna EDD 3rd Aug 14th July
Uki EDD 29th July 16th July @38+0
BumpVLump EDD 1st Aug July 22nd @37+4
traceybath EDD 1st Aug 23rd July @37+5 - 6lb12oz
Nandos EDD 30th July 27th July @39+4 - 2.9kg
LeninGrad EDD 4th Aug (DS 2.9) 28th July @39+0
martinemorris EDD 7th Aug(?) 28th July @38+4

Yank- sorry things are dragging and you are feeling a bit crap. I don't think there is any way to predict when labour will start, unfortunately. Does anything help? Wallowing in a nice warm bath, maybe?

BabyBump2B · 02/08/2009 20:56

Bump - congratulations! Post us the story when you can. I adore birth stories!

Wondering if Makka's had her baby yet?

Yank - I asked the midwife about whether being sure about the dates made it less likely to go overdue and was told NO - because term is anything from 35 - 42. And I'd say being as I'm 39 weeks today she's right so far! Boo hiss!

BabyBump2B · 02/08/2009 20:58

Ooops term being from 37 - 42.
