Sorry it fizzled out Makka.

Good luck today Yank.

Am fuming here. MIL rang last night wanting to arrange a date to visit (we were bathing dd and she left a message). Dh rang her back and they wanted to visit this weekend . Dh told her no way, not convenient etc cos I'm due on Tuesday and MIL said "Is there someone there saying we can't come?" . I nearly shouted "Yes there f*ing well is". FFS they want to visit 2 days before my due date and I'm the selfish one for not letting them??? . (They live over 4 hours away btw so it's not like we can say go home if I go into labour)

olivo · 31/07/2009 10:31

hello everyone, havent been on this thread for several months due to lots of pg problems, but i wanted to say hello and congratulations to those with new arrivals

am feeling a little more perky now so hope to catch up with what's been happening and regroup soon!

Longtalljosie · 31/07/2009 10:54

babybump - I love that link - it actually made me laugh out loud

crafty - I have the same thing, the ILs visiting on the 9th and I'm due on the 12th. Not much I can do though as they're bringing BIL who works overseas. Am drawing hope from a midwife who told me if women are determined not to go into labour on a certain day, they won't!

hi all. I posted yesterday but then my lapop crashed and I lost it!

Just wanted to say that I have the side sleeping issue also and about 10 days ago or so I had a reflexology appointment following which I had the best night's sleep for about 3 months! The pain is still there but it is nowhere near as bad as it was.

BTW - I agree, when it's real, ime, you will just know.

Am 40+3 now and v. fed up. As both boys were early (38 weeks and just 39 weeks) I have been on stand-by forever. I had another reflexology appointment yesterday and the lady said I was v. unlikely to get to Monday. Then I saw the mid wife who did an internal - I'm 3cm dilated already! Whilst she was there she said she would do a sweep as well (despite me asking not to!) - bit uncomfortable but nothing more than that. No baby yet but i have had a show this morning. Fingers crossed for later today... tomorrow is my birthday though so I'd rather wait til Sunday!!!

My mum is still here. Grandfather still hanging on but we had a scare with him yesterday too. It's all going to happen on the same day...

sheenaisapunkrocker · 31/07/2009 13:04

babybump - the link made me lol too. Brilliant!!

Makka - I'm having regular but painless contractions at night, they last about 30 -40 seconds, then fade out, but nothing developing. Hope it does something soon!

Crafty - can't believe that your ILs want to visit so close to your due date. Unreasonable IMHO. Be firm (cos they'll be there afterwards )

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 14:08

OH for fucks sake.

I decided in my wisdom to go to makro and bought a ton of stuff, but I seem to have buggered myself up doing so, and now I have to go to the sodding pissing hospital for a CTG.

Arseknobwipes.

I have to wait for DH to come home though.

Still having pissing sodding contractions.

I bought 5kgs of silverside. Please someone tell me it's a decent cut for roasting?

mamamila · 31/07/2009 14:49

hi all,

nothing new here, also having the sleeping positions/ turning agonies. all pelvic hip clicks when i turn. dd has started sleeping alnight in her bed hooray - she's almost 2! but she's waking at 5.30 ish so me and dh are not v cheerful and keep bickering

finally managed to buy a double mountain buggy on ebay so saved £300, that's made me smile

good luck everyone!

nandos · 31/07/2009 16:34

Helloo,
just to update all of you we just had our baby boy Ibrahim on the 27th July in the morning and hes weighs 2.9kg.

Came out at 39 and a half weeks thought i am going to wait a little longer cos' a lot of ppl said 1st baby can take some time to come out. Water broke at around 3am and had contraction at 4am. Baby is out by 5.50am..

Just had a minor complication right after birth..some clots n bleeding but otherwise everything is ok..

Hope all of you are doing well..
will try to update more soon

duchesse · 31/07/2009 16:53

Cogratulations Nandos! 27th July is also my daughter's birthday (she was 12 on Monday), and it's usually a lovely day! Sorry to hear about the post-birth issues, hope you're on the mend.

OonaghBhuna · 31/07/2009 17:27

Congratulations Nandos!!!

mamamila · 31/07/2009 17:37

congratulations nandos Ibrahim is a lovely name, are you muslim? hope you're feeling well and strong but wow what a fast birth experience!
i'm going to check in to post natal so i keep up with you all

quixotic · 31/07/2009 17:38

Congratulations Nandos - that was quick!

Hawkmoth · 31/07/2009 18:06

Congratulations Nandos - that was a swift labour. Hope you're recovered

I'm so glad I'm not the only one turning into a man-hater (though I did cry for an hour when he went to work on Wednesday!).

I can fit my hand under my (also sore) boobs again. Baby causing me a lot of grief in the pelvic area, but only two more painful contractions, the rest are getting longer and more painful, but not settling into a rhythm.

Went out for fresh fruit and sweets today, it was lovely getting out of the house, and I have yet another pineapple. I thought the core would just be hard, but it's hard and too bitter to eat - I only managed to drink about half of the other one blended with sugar and yoghurt... slowly... trying not to vomit.

Hope you're ok MPW.

BabyBump2B · 31/07/2009 18:08

Nandos - Wow! Congratulations! ~That is some fast labour. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Mamamila - I've got the clicking hips when I move at night too - drives me nuts!

Slightly cooler today which is a relief. Had a bit of a cry last night - my feet had swollen up in the heat at least double their normal size and it was painful to walk, then the baby started kicking and moving which has started to be more painful than uncomfortable and I think in the heat I just lost it. Poor DH kept trying to cuddle me but he was so hot and sweaty too it just made it all worse, poor thing!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and there are lots of birth announcements!!!

duchesse · 31/07/2009 18:10

Next full moon is on the 6th, the following on the 4th of September. I wonder whether there'll be a flurry around then?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 19:02

Hey Sheena

I am still only 37 weeks. No idea what body is doing. Just being evil for fun I guess.

Doesn't FEEL like labour but surely BH's would have got bored by now?!

mamamila · 31/07/2009 20:00

oh dear sorry makka, good luck and keep us posted

bump2baby- very sorry for you in the heat too that must be really crappy, do you have aircon or a fan at night? i'm quite glad for the rain here, makes me feel better about hardly ever leaving the house too

quixotic · 31/07/2009 20:29

Makka hang in there, have my fingers crossed it will happen soon for you.

BB2B I feel for you - hope it cools down soon, I loved that website and I will definitely be using it!

Having curry for dinner, then hopefully a bit of hows-your-father. Will be buying a pineapple tomorrow.

What's the deal with the full moon duchesse?

duchesse · 31/07/2009 20:42

quix -According to my midwives over the last x pregnancies, there's a sharp increase in births around full moon.

Longtalljosie · 31/07/2009 22:38

Yes my mum was saying that about the full moon... Her midwives told her that when she was in with me

mama2leah · 01/08/2009 11:10
