Hey Kat,
Have you had a show or anything? How long are they lasting? Glad they aren't painful but at this stage they are prob quite significant. I got to two cm last time without any pains just what I thought were BH. Keep us posted. When are you due? Good Luck. Will be thinking of you and hope it is the start of something....at least I do if you do. .

katzguk · 19/05/2005 12:39

they last about 1-2mins not really timing them, maybe i should!! not had a show or anything!! but tummy been a little dodgy.

just wish i knew whether this was the start of things or just a dummy run!

It is never for nothing! If it gets things moving is a good thing! and hey, if it is pain free even better! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

katzguk · 19/05/2005 12:47

hope so, at least my bags are packed this time!! so if it is the real thing i'm all ready! although DH ate the biscuits from the labour bag.

So Katz how long have you been having the contractions now?? The other morning mine lasted about 4 hours then tailed off then started again for a short while, but so far I've only had strong BH since, and strong twinges in the general groin area that take my breath away (sorry if TMI )...

Yeah scary what the mw says about your body gearing up for it all...ds came in just under 5 hrs (like your dd) and she said hers was the same and then her 2nd was only 1 1/2 hrs! Not sure if that's good or bad!

How's it going now...?

Ooh just think Uwila must be a mummy again by now, how exciting, bet she's cuddling little Alex right now!

Cooperoo · 19/05/2005 13:07

Tea - I have had twinges in the groin like you describe too. Like someone is trying to poke their way out . I don't remember any twinges from before but must have had them I suppose.
Kat - This is prob your body gearing up like Teas if they remain pain free. Def will be helping everything along though as Lua says. You will know soonish. Try not to panic about a short labour though as I think you said you had to be induced last time which can speed things up I think. How long will it take DH to get home? Have you called your midwife? I would. Good Luck.

teabelly · 19/05/2005 13:14

Coop - lol yes! Last night I'm sure if I'd have had a look there would have been a little fist handing out following one particularly strong twinge

LipstickMum · 19/05/2005 13:15

I can't help giggling at all of us logging on here as we may or may not be in labour It really is pretty cool!! Good luck Katz! Would you like it to be labour, or do you need a few days..??!!

Coop, I am pretty envious of you with your sunshine, although I'm sure it's not pleasant for you. But here it's like March, worse even, it's bloody depressing!

Bye all

teabelly · 19/05/2005 13:15

handing = hanging - really must use preview!

katzguk · 19/05/2005 13:16

Have just spoken to midwife (my mum told me to ring!!) she says to ring if they get more frequent, have been knowingly contracting since 6ish so 7 hours or so!

DH is about 45 mins away not going to get him home yet.

ROFL Lippy! maybe we could have a first MN on-line birth!

MrsWednesday · 19/05/2005 13:38

Blimey Katz, this is exciting!

Just checking in, have got to go and entertain DS and his little friend as they are liable to get up to all sorts of mischief if left alone for more than two minutes...

Scraggyaggy · 19/05/2005 13:50

Katz - Hope you're ot in pain. Have you had that bath I suggested?

Tea - Yes, went on hols to Mallorca and it was fab, no-one batted an eyelid at the airport with me being pg, and I came back relaxed and tanned. Was ace.

Cobweb - Oooh, you're little boy sounds gorgeous!!! Can't wait to have ours!

Cooperoo - No, I wouldn't say that "resting" has been on the agenda exactly. Am due on the 8th, working til the 27th, have been down to Bristol and up to B'ham on courses in the last couple of weeks. Ho hum! Both DP and midwife have agreed that there's not much point trying to get me to do otherwise!! I need to keep busy....

Red - I'm having a homebirth with a pool too. My pool gets delivered next Wednesday. Am goijg to try it out as soon as it arrives I think!

Have I missed sending donations or sthg? Why are we sending £1 to Katz???

Am feeling a bit left out of this Braxton Hicks thing. I just feel like I'm about to explode. No twinges or contractions to speak of...

Speak soon gang! x

Lua · 19/05/2005 14:05

Hey Scraggy! Nice to hear from you! and good to hear you are feeling quite well.
The 1 pound thing was to get a prize for the sweepstake Katz organized. We bet on who was having the baby first, who would be the biggest, etc. If you are curious, you can check the sweepstake thread on the antenatal club heading

Scraggyaggy · 19/05/2005 14:19

Aaah! Got it. Am pleased to see someone nominated me as smallest!!! Shame I missed that one, looks like fun! x

aprilmeadow · 19/05/2005 14:48

Hi Ladies,

Just popped in to see how you are all doing...

Congrats to Cobweb, hope you and Brandon are doing well.

Good luck to Uwila.

I had a little boy called Jack on the 24th April - he is gorgeous and is packing on the pounds! At birth he was 7lb 15oz and is now 10lbs!

Best of luck to you all and i hope that you aren't kept waiting too long for your precious bundles. Will keep an eye out on the announcement board.

Take care
Aprilmeadow x

bubbaloo · 19/05/2005 15:26

hi aprilmeadow,
nice to hear from you.congratulations on your little boy jack-glad he is doing well!
say hello to sweetheart from us and take care.xx

katzguk · 19/05/2005 15:37

afternoon all

still contracting painlessly!! midwife thinks it might be early labour so just got to sit tight and wait, just waiting for DH to come home from work to give the bath a try. Walking makes them come more frequently so might run up and down the stairs a few times!

OP posts:
LipstickMum · 19/05/2005 15:40

Excellent Katz!! Good luck! Can't getting into the bath slow things down?? I vote for running up and down stairs

katzguk · 19/05/2005 15:42

got a 2.5 year old to run round after she bound to get it started!!! plus must have peed a million times this morning

LOL KVG - Me too about the logging on here first thing.
Kat it sounds promising doesn't it. So glad you are not suffering. I think a bath will help more if you are aching etc but I would keep active for now, get up and down those stairs girl . (I am no expert though of course).
Lippy - I am really trying not to complain about the weather. DH and dd are filling up the 10ft pool in the garden as we speak so that will help.
Scraggy - I am exhausted just reading all that you are up to. If you feel well though go for it.
Anyone heard from Bero? or Lynny?

Scraggyaggy · 19/05/2005 16:24

Oooh Katz!!!!!! Go Girl!!!
