Morning all. Just a tiny brief update to say hello and wish everyone well. I'm still really struggling with bf (there's a thread in the appropriate section with a despairing 4am post on it from this morning) but there have been small advances. Samuel is doing well, though (well, as well as he can do with two concerned first-time parents fussing over him all the time à la is he too hot, too cold (not much chance in this weather), why won't he go on the breast etc. etc.) and that's the most important thing.

bubbaloo · 30/05/2005 10:17

morning all,

pink-hope your'e feeling a bit better this morning.its horrible feeling lousy, especially at this late stage.ive actually had a headache for the last couple of days which has been bothering me.i never get headaches but i think i over did it in the garden on sat and sun,as i also burnt my arms.hopefully it'll be nothing to worry about and will go away today!

Afternoon!

Lol - and admiration - at all you seducing (or attempting to) your dhs

Bero - Not seen your bf thread yet - but on the whole you seem to be progressing with it. How are you feeding Samuel when you give him formula if you don't mind me asking? are you using a bottle or a cup or something else? I'm just asking because I anticipate having difficulties and want to know how much truth there is in "nipple confusion" or "preference" if you use a bottle. One of my mws dismissed it as non-existant.

As for formula - I am going to have to buy some just in case. Is there one which is (unofficially) regarded as being the best does anyone know? The mws I've asked are all reluctant to say.

Lummox - Jonathan sounds adorable! how's the breastfeeding coming along? Is he suckling a lot? I think that helps with milk production. But like Noggermum and others have said, they have a 3 day period where they hardly need to consume anything before you need to worry too much. Of course you will though - I will! Thanks for the advice on conserving energy by the way!

Nogger - hope things start happening for you soon!

Coop - I'm so sorry it sounds like you're not going to get your new clinic after all. What a shame. Your ball sounds like loads of fun. I don't think there's any way on earth I could stay up til 3 at the moment though - very impressiv

Tea - lol at you wearing bright white trousers to bring on labour

Lippy - have you seen your new floors yet? Are they fab? Or is it still too messy to appreciate them? Well done for employing a cleaner - wonder if I'll be able to persuade dp we might need one when Pod's here. Twould be nice.

Pink - how are you today - hope you haven't got what I had - it's going around apparently. It's pretty disgusting, but won't hurt the baby according to the doc. Are you getting "eggy" burps?

MrsF - Ooh are you thinking of moving to bournemouth? We are too! Which areas are you looking at - we hardly know it at all, but would like somewhere either countryfied, just outside, or somewhere nice nearish a beach where you can walk dogs. Good luck with your hunt!

Welshie - you are in mummy heaven So pleased it's all gone so smoothly for you, you seem so cool and relaxed. Happy days.

Is it impossible to sleep during early labour then? I can't imagine having the energy for pushing and stuff after being awake for 48 hours

Anyone heard from KVG lately???

gwenynbee · 30/05/2005 15:22

Dear All, Hope that it isn't raining where you are, on this Bank Hoilday - we had a mad hailstorm at lunch time, but it's cleared up a treat by now!My friend who's 27 weeks pg came round last night - and I must admit we both had a sneaky bottle of M&S Buck's Fizz - it was only like gnats pee 4%, but it did the job, and I had a good nights (and most of the morning) sleep! It didn't give me heartburn either, so I was well chuffed!

Cooperoo - Brave or Bonkers?!! Haven't quite figured out what I am yet! So looking forward now!

Welshmum - glad to hear that all is well with you and the new addition to the family. How on earth did you convince dh to have a nice proper Welsh name like Osian? I really like Gethin for my ds, but dp is having none of it! It looks like I am going to be lumbered with an English 1st name (not that there's anything wrong with that - lol!) - I am adamant that he's going to have a good old fashioned Welsh middle name though!

Kitchen finally getting there - just the grouting, second coat of paint and the skirting board to do before the flooring comes on Weds - hooray! Not that it will make much of a difference, seeing as I have been on strike and denying my wifey duties since the blue lines appeared!

Enjoy the rest of this lovely long weekend ladies, and good luck to all of you just in case there are any more Junies ready to make an appearance.

JonahB · 30/05/2005 18:21

Hi everyone, hope you have all had lovely weekends.

Tea, lol at wearing your white trousers to bring on labour. That?s the one thing I haven?t tried yet, but may give it a go. I was also contemplating wandering round all our local supermarkets to see if that will induce my waters into breaking .

Gweny/Bubb, can I join you in the ?totally fed up? group? I?m feeling v. grumpy and fed up today. Everything I do seems to make my body ache. Our hospital doesn?t induce until you are 10 days over the due date, which feasibly means I could be sat here for another 16 days . I sincerely hope not?..Sorry for winging today. I know we are all in the same boat so I am guessing this is a sentiment shared by everyone. Might go and eat some more pineapple. Dont know if this is a national promotion, but our local sainsbury's is doing a 2 for 1 offer at the moment.......

Cooperoo · 30/05/2005 18:26

Evening all.
Well I have just sat down for what feels like the first time today and I am exhausted. 8pm here.
Mrs F - Good luck with the house hunting and sale of your property. My mum has been busy house hunting for us and has found a fab house in a village 10 mins from her overlooking fields and with massive gardens but we are worried it is out of our price range. It is fab so we have a few sums to do. I think it will be worth the struggle for a few years as it will mean we don't have to move again. The chap is keen to see a nice family in it and will not put it on the market if we want it so we can knock off estate agent fees etc. Our great problem is that we don't have any guarantee of where Dh's next job will be and although we hope it will be Colchester or Bury St Edmunds there is no guarantee. It could be Leatherhead which is obviously not commutable and it could be Scotland!!
Welshie - Glad you are so loving time with your new ds. It is such a special time. Savour every bit, as it sounds like you are. Hope all is OK with the inlaws and don't dare to apologise for not posting. Crikey I dread to think what my posts will be like when the baby is here.
Bero - Hope you are OK. I read your b/f thread. I wish I had some advice but want to say I think you are doing brilliantly. I think you need alot more rest though and please don't worry about the impacts of formula. I am pro b/f but believe that there is def a time and a place for formula in many circumstances. You have to do what is right for you and your family. On the other hand you sound quite determined and so don't give up. It can and will work for you and IMO breast feeding is MUCH easier than bottle feeding one it is established.....no more washing up sterilising etc and you can go out knowing you have milk on tap so to speak. Please don't beat yourself up about things though. You have done your very best so far and I am not sure many of us would have had the strength to get as far as you have. Good Luck.
Bubb - Hope your headache is better. You will be glad to know that I now have all the stuff I want for my hospital bags and it is all laid out on the bed. I am just waiting for DH to get the rucksacks down for me and I will be packed. Hooray!
Kat - Hanging on in there!!
Charley - Glad you are feeling a bit better too. Did you have any news from you. Your post was all lovely comments about us!
Lippy - Glad you are being looked after. The house will be lovely and feel all fresh and new by the time you get in there ready for your new baby.
Gweny - Glad you enjoyed your Bucks Fizz. I had a glass of sparkling wine when I got to the ball and it was LOVELY!! I drank it very slowly and enjoyed every bit. I have read recently that you can drink while b/f (something I didn't do with dd) so I am looking forward to some nice glasses of wine in a few weeks time, well hopefully sooner actually.
KVG, Lynny and Lua - Where are you? Hope all is OK.
I have been in a particularly foul mood with DH today. I have been feeling VERY sorry for myself and totally neglected by him. I think that I am being irrational but he seems to make no allowances for the fact that I am now 38 weeks pregnant and actually getting more than a little tired now. Not to mention the size of my legs and feet which are screaming to be put up. I think it is just men. Some of them really can't see what is in front of them despite numerous hints. You just have to spell it out to them sometimes don't you. He is actually very good when I ask him to do something, but why do I have to ask all the time?? Ho hum. I will feel bad about this post tomorrow as I think it is probably a bit unfair on him really, but it is helping me for now . He is out at the rugby tonight as he is helping to coach the team which is fine as dd is in bed and I won't be far behind. I think I just got annoyed as he was laying on the sofa this afternoon watching Karate Kid 3 or something equally dire while he watched me get the washing in and do the ironing. I said anyone would think you were pregnant and that did motivate him to sort the phone number list out for when the baby comes. I don't think I am easy to live with though so hopefully we will have a better day tomorrow. Sorry, rant over.
Megi - How are you too??

bubbaloo · 30/05/2005 18:55

evening all,

jonah-also bought 2 pineapples at sainsburys.they were really delicious and ive already eaten them both.

coop-know exactly what you mean about dh's.im also feeling really neglected by mine and keep telling him so! im just so tired at the moment which im sure they dont seem to understand.he keeps telling me im on "easy street"-wonder if he'll change his mind when the baby comes.
actually i shouldn't moan too much.he left for work at 5am this morning, got back at 4pm and vacuumed the house for me while i sat watching ready steady cook AND eating HIS bag of revels!!!

charley-hope your'e feeling better now and are over that bug you had.i think theres a lot of things going around at the moment, but its just so annoying when you cant take any medication!

katz-still hanging on then?!!
also think its probably time for a new thread,to get things moving again.

MrsWednesday · 30/05/2005 20:06

Happy bank holiday! I've survived our trip to Cardiff to watch the football, the baby didn't make an appearance during the game (or after it) and we won as well, so it was a fantastic day. Absolutely bloody knackered today though after lots of travelling and two crap nights sleep on the settee (gave up our bed to the in-laws who stayed for two nights to look after DS). I feel about 120 years old today...everything hurts.

Can't believe there hasn't been any more arrivals, was expecting to see at least one today!

Welshie you sound completely loved up, and your new DS sounds gorgeous. So pleased that the experience is so much better this time round.

Lummox - your description of the first few days with a newborn brought back loads of memories...weird it certainly is (I thought anyway). I just never felt like I was enough of a grown-up to be left in charge of a baby! Hope the breast-feeding improves - perhaps it would be worth posting a question the breastfeeding section too?

Berolina, I really hope things are improving with Samuel's breast-feeding too, and that you manage to catch up with some sleep.

Gywny, you have been pregnant for a very long time . Your DS's birthday is going to be a tough day, but feeling his brother wriggling around inside you might help a little bit. It won't be long before you get to meet him

These last few weeks are taking its toll on the Junies. I feel the same, achey and generally worn out today. Have decided to have a glass of sparkling wine myself tonight (me and DH are going to celebrate yesterday's victory), a warm bath and an early night, see if that sorts out a few of my aches and pains. This sounds awful but I am so looking forward to tomorrow - DS is at nursery and DH is at work, and I'm determined to do nothing all day.

Glad the renovations seem to be coming to an end for everyone too. Charleypops, have you got everything done that you wanted to?

Tea, thanks for the very useful potty training insider knowledge. I think I'll take a similar approach, just go with the flow (literally ). Once I've got settled with the new baby I will get a sticker book and start being a bit more rigid with it.

Cooperoo, if only they could experience late pregnancy for one day our DHs might be a little more sympathetic. Unfortunately it seems we are just expected to carry on as normal . The heat can't be fun for you either.

Lua, hope you are ok and things have started moving of their own accord.

Lua · 30/05/2005 20:46

Hi everybody!
Sorry, haven't posted for a few days! I wish I was busy having a baby... But no... Just busy entertaining sis, DD, and painting the house. I will join you, Coop, on the DH complaining! I will have to be in labour in 2 bl**dy days! But I still don't seem entitled to put my feet up!
Went in for another monitoring today, and all sounded good, except not much sign of labour , little guy remains free as a bird! I had to be minitored in the post natal ward and got really anxious to get my baby in my hands after listening to all those little guys in the ward . I do remember though how hellish the first month was with DD being so difficult to bf! So hang in there, lummox and berolina! It will get better!!!
MrsW, Congratulations on your team's victory! I was thinking of you when I heard the results!
Pink - are you in labour yet? Hope is not a bug! this is no time for a bug!
JonahB- enjoy the clam before the storm! Put your feet up and rest a ton. You'll miss later
Hello to Welshie and Uwila! Hope to join the postnatal thread soon!

Uki · 31/05/2005 04:29

Good Morning Everyone on this last day of May

Yay !!!that means we are all junies now, unless we get some babes today!!!!

I agree with you all who are feed up. I think i am definately anxious.

On sunday i had to spend 2 hous at the hospital again with blood pressure problems. I did all the tests then everything was o.k on tests so, just waiting and trying to take it easy. Have another appointment today.

Coop when are you meant to be moving back to UK?

I have definately noticed a slow down in babies movements in the last day, i guess it's much lower now coz i haven't had the big rollovers.

I reakon a new thread for the 1st June might be nice!!!!
Of cause i can suggest that but have no idea how to do it.

Take care ladies

Franniban · 31/05/2005 07:06

Morning all, sorry to hear so may of you are fed up.
Bero, have not read your b/f thread but try not to get too down about things, as Coop says you have to do what it right for you and your family, and not be influenced and made to feel guilty about what happens.
I;ve been eating tinned pineapple, does that do the same thing?! Must get to sainsbury's.
Having my NCT girls round for lunch today, with all their off spring. Said this will be the last one and mine for a bit, but it's good to keep the days filled, while waiting.
Have been awake since 5am as ds woke up, and now starting to fade again, will go back to bed for a while I think.
Uki, sorry to hear you've still got the blood pressure thing, you need to take it easy. Hope all is well.
Gwneey, was sad to hear about your ds, but as others have said it won't be long before you meet your new little one. I think you are right to try and feel possitive for your new little one, but it's also important not to block out other feelings that you may have.

Back to bed, will check in later.

teabelly · 31/05/2005 08:55

Morning all

Just popping in quickly to say no news here yet...pineapples are definitely not doing it here, nor curry, chilli, white trousers (hmmph... always works for a period!) or even lots of s-e-x soooo going to see a reflexologist today if poss and see if that can get things going...having real problems breathing - diaphram space has been hi-jacked . Won't moan too much tho as I've definitely faired much better than some with this pregnancy and at the end of the day she'll come when she's ready, and if not then I'll be induced next tuesday anyway so only a week to go!

Hope you all have a good day today and will catch up properly tomorrow when ds is at mil's!

...just quickly tho...Lua - hope all happens today for you naturally, but if not good luck for tomorrow.

and Uki - good luck with the tests today

bubbaloo · 31/05/2005 09:20

morning!

wish this weather would make its mind up.had hailstorms yesterday and its beautiful out there today!!

franni-re:the pineapple.i think it has to be fresh pineapple and apparently the "magic" bit is the core, which you also have to eat.hope you enjoy your lunch today.

uki-good luck with the tests today.hope they go well for you.

well the good news is ive woken up without a headache this morning! i was starting to get really worried as i'd had the headache for nearly 5 days and kept thinking the worst, and trying to work out if my legs and fingers were swollen etc.hopefully it wont come back.

Jezebel · 31/05/2005 15:24

Hello, Jezebel here. You may rmember me as the strange lurer (!!) that pops up occasionally. I am the one that has 1 baby already and had a load of mcs and so was nervous about joining. Anyway, all remains well with me. I am expecting a girl in 3 weeks and she is very big - on the 97th centile. Was tested for diabestes but don't have that. I have just come off all the medication I was taking to thin my blood since thick blood (caused by Factor V Leiden) was probably behind the mcs. Needless to say, the doctors don't want my blood too thin when I give birth. Can't wait for this to be over. I enjoy pgncy but fel baby safer outside of me now. I was sp pleased to see that Sweetheart and Sophmum are expecting and was thrilled to hear the good news from Berolina, Cobweb, Uwila, Lummox and Welshmum. Please forgive me if I have forgotten anyone. Have now given up work so have more time for important things. Best wishes to all. By the way Pink, what is an Arjna and how di you come up with t he name?
