Can I have a proud mummy moment please???
Dd has started doing drawings that actually aren't just scribbles in the last month or so. She did a 'Mummy,Daddy,me and the bathroom floor' yesterday along with 'Clock and pink bananas' I am am of course incredibly proud of her

Lua · 18/05/2005 15:06

Uwila - Wishing you the best tomorrow!!! Have Mr. Uwila post the good news as soon as possible please!

Welshie - wow, does scribbles actually become real drawings??? I'm very impressed! How old is your DD again?

Mrs.F - Sorry! I new there were some mistakes on the list, but I couldn't remember anymore what they were! I'll try to remember for the next update. I'll wait for Mr. Uwila's announcement.

PinkArjuna · 18/05/2005 16:03

Cobweb it's still May!!! Congratulations. Wow I might just go and check my bag and read the instructions for the tens machine...

welshmum · 18/05/2005 16:22

Lua - she was 3 last month, it's only happened in the last month too. I don't think this makes her Picasso (apart from in my eyes) others probably do it sooner.

katzguk · 18/05/2005 17:02

good luck uwila for tomorrow

had £1 off of Welshie and MrsW today,

uwila-dont know why i said "adam" and not alex-must be the A!!

tribpot · 18/05/2005 19:09

GOOD LUCK Uwila for tomorrow, hope it all goes smoothly!

Lippy, I had to LOL at your dp. Perhaps he could bring the dishcloth in to the hospital to give the new baby a bit of a spruce up after he's helped with the delivery?!

Glad to hear that dh's anti-muslin attitude is a common one among men, it explains a great deal as he isn't usually unreasonable. Naturally I shall just be buying some anyway and if he wants to mess around with cotton wool he can do.

My feet are swelling up like crazy now, most uncomfortable

MrsWednesday · 18/05/2005 20:28

Trib, buy loads of muslins, I don't think you can ever have enough of them. DS still uses one as a comfort blanket even now. And put your feet up - if they are swelling you have got a good excuse.

Good luck tomorrow Uwila!

Lippy, you are so nearly there now - and just in time!!! Yuck to being sick though, very unpleasant.

Coops, hope you are ok, it sounds like you are on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster at the moment (mind you, I think we all are ).

Welshie, your DD sounds very talented, with a surreal Dali-esque imagination. My DS drew a picture of a nee-nar (ambulance) today and it consisted of three lines scattered randomly on a piece of paper...still got a long way to go I think.

Cobweb, thanks for the very useful words of advice. Hope your older DSs are enjoying their new little brother.

Tessiebear, good to see you again. How are things going?

I am definitely going to sort out the rest of my stuff tomorrow, Cobweb's news and Uwila's forthcoming arrival have made it all seem scarily real. Washed the baby clothes today - me and DH were really freaked out about how small they are!

charleypops · 18/05/2005 21:53

Hello - not got a pc at the moment - I'm on my neighbour's so I can say

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW UWILA!!!! xx

I'll try to catch tomorrow. Haven't read anything. Hope everyone's well.

xxx

redheadmum · 18/05/2005 22:54

just a quick post before off to bed

good luck Uwila!

the babies have started to arrive.......

Mrs W - no offence taken, I am absolutely a hippy girl!

thanks for all the posts - I AM feeling so much calmer and less stressed now. Have been cooking as much as pos to stock up for post baby, and getting out the baby clothes. Ordered my pool today - v exciting....

Still have hospital bag to pack (just in case I get whisked off) and that darned filing to do. I wonder if baby will hold off until all my chores are done? A friend of mine was doing her MA dissertation when she was pregnant. She finished it and posted it, and then birthed the next day.....hmmm

LipstickMum · 18/05/2005 22:59

Hello all

Katz, thanks for the info on the oils, I have a few of those already. I'm sure the midwives willpoint me in the right direction too.

Charley! Wondered where you'd been, get the laptop back woman, I need to know if you've made a decision about the Maya sling

Uwila, good luck for tomorrow!! Remind Mr Uwila not to get huffy if he 'accidentally' reads posts about himself when he lets us know about the arrival of Alex

uwila · 19/05/2005 05:05

Mornin' all...
Sorry, not ime to catch up. SKimmed enough to see congratulations are in order to Cobweb.

Lippy, you are going to get me in trouble. I never called him huffy.

Well we are of to the hospital shortly. Must go now... Will be back on here when I'm out of the hospital.

Good luck to anyone else who may come in a bit ahead of schedule before I return.

Scraggyaggy · 19/05/2005 07:37

Good luck Uwila!!!! Am so jealous!

And Congratulations to Cobweb!!!

x

welshmum · 19/05/2005 08:35

You had to go in quite early then uwila?! All the very very best xxx

Cobweb · 19/05/2005 08:41

Welshmum my DSs are enjoying their baby brother almost too much like a dolly.

Its day 5 now and my milk is in and my boobs are so sore and I can't stop crying the morning. Hormones are all over the place, it the downsize of having a beautiful bundle.

Welshmum - Brandon is dark haired and IMO absolutely beautiful.

He's got his heal prick test today, which I am not looking forward to.

Good luck Uwila xxx

katzguk · 19/05/2005 09:06

morning all

well despite being a second timer i haven't a clue whats going on this morning!! i have been having regualr contractions, not painful but make you stop with there strength, not sure if this is early labour or just nature playing tricks. just getting on with the day and waiting and seeing. Anyone got any ideas?

OP posts:
teabelly · 19/05/2005 09:09

Morning all,

Uwila - was just checking in early(ish) to wish you luck again...but I guess I've already missed you

Cobweb - ouch I think I cried more than ds when he had his heel prick test I'm not good with injections at the best of times anyway, and now have to have mil take him when any are needed I can only see this as getting worse when dd arrives

Welshie - awwww bless her, so talented and at such a young age! Ds is 3 next month and no where near doing more than the basic scribbles...although we may have a talented singer not on our hands...dh has a multitude of Dr Who paraphanelia (sp?) and ds has started 'flying' the tardis models around the room accompanied with a lovely 'whooo whooo whoooooo' sound I see he has mastered his mothers singing ability down to a tee

Scraggy, lovely to hear from you again, have you had your holiday yet? If not when do you go?

Right better go grandma has just arrived...hope you all have great days...x

teabelly · 19/05/2005 09:11

Ooh Katz sounds like the pains I had earlier this week Could be everything getting itself ready, that's what my mw reakons it is with me...means you could be in for a quick labour hen it happens...keep us posted

katzguk · 19/05/2005 09:19

Cooperoo · 19/05/2005 11:08

Morning all.
I wonder if Uwila has her baby yet? Does anyone know what time she was scheduled for? So exciting. Hope Mr Uwila remembers about us.
Tea - Lol at your nesting. My urges are not strong enough to overcome my MN addiction yet.
Will be back just have to update virus scan blooming thing....

welshmum · 19/05/2005 11:13

Cobweb - lovely to hear how you're doing and what the new little boy looks like - I remember the hormone storm all too well. Unfortunatley I was having it in the middle of UCH neo-nate unit - dd was rushed back there on day 5. I looked in the mirror at one point and thought 'Where have my eyes gone?' It's a strange old time.
Tea - the move from scribbles to 'drawings' was overnight - no interim stage so watch out - one day mummy just appears with a round tummy and scraggy hair! Very true to life.
Have good days all x

Lua · 19/05/2005 11:29

Morning all!
Is it getting exciting here or what?!
Katz, I am in the same situation as you... Had some really weird tightenings yesterday, but reckon I still don't know what a contraction is! It did remind me of the "something" I felt with DD when was having contractions every 2 minutes! But since I am still in one piece today... it must not have been... I do hear that second time mums can have contractions on and off for a while before real labour and then everything goes reallyu fast! Hope that's the case for all of us!

JonahB · 19/05/2005 11:35

Morning All,

I haven't had a chance to read all the messages, so a big apology if I've missed anything out.

I really wanted to come on today to wish Uwila GOOD LUCK!!!!

..and a big congratulations to Cobweb!!!!! Our first June baby!!!! Lets hope all our labours are as short as yours was

Redhead, I?m so pleased that the kidney problem is only mild. You must have been so worried. Good news about the homebirth as well.

Still not packed my bags/washed everything yet. I'm still trying to build my flatpack set of drawers to put everything in. Although I have been busy (well, as much as my energy levels will let me). This includes collecting the buggy and car seat, which is fitted into the back of my car. That almost sent DH and I into palpultaions. There will be some sort of car seat in the back of my car now for at least the next 5 years . What else, the bump has started to engage now, which i'm pleased about. Wish he/she would just hurry up and get on with it though..

Katz, I?ve sent my £1 as well. Sorry for being so sh*te and late.

Hope you are all well.

Cooperoo · 19/05/2005 11:39

Right where was I before Mcafee so rudely interupted.
Trib - Thank you so much for the offer of the Argos birthing ball. If I had longer to go I would take you up on it but the post is so unreliable I wouldn't want you to go to all that trouble for me. Thank you though. DH is going to try fixing it for me tonight. We shall see. If not I am going to ask hime to speak sweetly to the physio/rehab dept to see if they have any spare that I could borrow. Not hopeful but worth a shot. If the 'new clinic' is up and running they have some for labour there. You NEED muslins. I have 12. They are essential for all sorts of mopping tasks, and useful for lying in the crib/pram so that if baby possets you don't have to change all the sheets. Useful on changing mat if it is a bit cold for baby, etc etc. I had one in every room and one over my shoulder permanently last time. I have found some coloured ones on line for £1 each if you want the link let me know. I can sympathise with the swollen feet. It is 27 degrees here now and my feet are huge by 9am. My friend carrying twins and due the same time as me still has her beautiful delicate ankles though despite her massive bump.
Thanks flashingnose.
Lippy - Lol about dishcloth. Men hey. They do keep us amused.
Welshmum - How exciting about your dd's drawings. DD has just started singing songs with the right words rather than just the tune and it is so cute.
Mrs W - Thanks for kind words. We are all def on emotional rollercoaster. DH said don't worry the hormones will settle soon and I nearly shouted at him about the baby blues and sobbing that Cobweb is going through now. How could he have forgotten that at the happiest time of my life I was still in floods of tears.
Cobweb - So lovely to get your little updates. I hope that you hormones will settle soon (and your boobs for that matter.) Just think you will be all sorted and in control when we are all going through it. It is lovely to hear about Brandon too. Does he have lots of hair? Is he feeding well? Sleeping at all? Settled? Hope heel prick test isnt too traumatic. DD didn't cry at all, unlike her Mum!
Red - I am excited for you about your pool. Did you use one last time?
Hi Scraggy - Hope all OK and that you are resting a bit more now.
KAT - OOOer. Are you next? I hope you are OK and that the pains are bearable. How exciting. Keep us posted and the best of luck....... It is a reminder to us second timers that it will prob be all different this time and we will all be in the same boat posting on here saying 'is this it??'
Well I am a little more in control of my emotions today THANK GOODNESS. Still had a moment after musical tots.
I took dd to the ladies house who is going to be looking after her on b-day and feel so much better about it all. She loved it there and went off exploring and playing with all the other children straight away. I had a great long chat with my friend too about my worries etc and she knows exactly what I am going through which is great. Anyway I have told the bump to come overnight so that Daddy will be back by the morning to get dd and then collect me from the hospital. My friend will come and stay if this is the case so dd will be none the wiser. What are our chances ha ha.
I went to a jewellers in Limassol today to get my friends leaving present and chose a lovely bracelet for the full amount they had. They then knocked £10 off and offered me the matching earrings for half price so I bought those too from us and then they gave me a beautiful silver necklace for dd for FREE!!! Amazing. My darling cleaner has been, dd is asleep and so I am going to put my swollen feet up and watch Desperate Housewives from last night and wait for DH to get home. Definately having a better day and thanks again for all your kind words. We are def all going through it and it is so reassuring to have you all to chat to so I don't feel I am going mad.

katzguk · 19/05/2005 12:27
