Just noticed that a couple of other ladies little ones have made appearances too! Well done and congratulations to you all, wishing you all all the healthand happiness in the world! x

bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 19:33

without sounding too stupid what exactly is the raspberry tea meant to do?
how are you feeling now katz? still getting the contractions?

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 19:34

Cheers for your advice, I have got some other fruit teas so I will give it a try! I have heard you can get it in tablet form too, but I think that's a bit too drastic!

Hope you are well! x

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 19:36

Can't believe you're having contractions and so cool calm and collected - I would be having kittens (well preferably a baby!lol!) by now!

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 19:39

Haven't a clue bubbaloo what Rasperry Leaf Tea is meant to do? prepares the uterus or something? I don't know, I've just been told to drink it at 35wks!

bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 19:42

oh right.i've heard alot of people talking about it but just wondered.didnt know if it was meant to help bring on labour or something else-thanks

katzguk · 20/05/2005 19:52

rasberry leaf tones the uterus, supposed to make labour quicker, can cause braxton hicks contractions!

Gweny - the contractions don't hurt they just keep happening! i was getting excited yesterday now think i'm going to be stuck doing this for weeks!! am 37+3 today

OP posts:
bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 19:59

thanks for that katz
how long have you been taking it for and where do you get it from-holland and barrett?

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 19:59

Nice one Katz! I am hoping to feel these Braxton Hicks things that everybody keeps on talking about - I thought I was having some but turned out to be constipation!

I really wish that I felt pregnant - instead of just tired! I'm bit of a porker, so don't particluarly feel fat either lol! I really want to have leaky boobies too - but no such luck!

katzguk · 20/05/2005 20:01

gweny - i will swap you leaky boobs and braxton hicks for anything!!

Bubb - yep thats where i got mine from, i've had about 3 cups, bought it monday, so from 37 weeks

OP posts:
gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 20:01

Bubba - I got mine from Holland and Barrett - you can get it in tablet form there as well! I'll try the tea first - if it's minging I'll get the tabs!

bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 20:05

blimey its obviously working on the contraction front then!!
i think maybe i'll get some then.does it tell you how much to drink on the packet?-dont want to o.d on the stuff!

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 20:05

It says on the box to take from 35 weeks, I think - gosh I hope it don't bring it on too early. However, I've been told that ds is big and that I am looking at a 9 pounder according to last measurements from 33 week scan! Aaargh!

I've also been massaging my perineum (or whatever it's called) with Olive Oil in an attempt to avoid an episiostomy - smells like a salad when I fart now though LOL! is that too much information?

bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 20:10

LOL gweny-thats really funny
i havent bothered with that-dont think i'd be able to reach anyway, even if i tried

lummox · 20/05/2005 20:12

Yes Tribpot - back from France, thanks. We decided to cut the two weeks to five days because I was getting nervy about being too far from home. Will definitely stay put from now on!

Am I the only one that doesn't find raspberry leaf tea disgusting? I put it with one peppermint in the same cup and really like it.

My latest preggy joy is that I can't sit up to the table any more (preparation for understanding what it is like to be a baby, maybe?). It hurts too much to lean forward at a normal angle for eating, so I'm sitting kind of sideways on and dropping a lot!

Have realised that I am expecting someone else to have had a baby every time I log on now.

All the best to Lynny and everyone.

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 20:14

LOL! It's not been easy I tell you - I'm not the most flexible of peeps! Thank goodness I only do it in the comfort of my own home! The things we'll do for a supposedly easier time of it eh? I've even bought a rubber ring so I can sit after the birth! I'll be gutted if I have a c-section now after all this hassle!

bubbaloo · 20/05/2005 20:18

blimey, you are organised-what with the rubber ring,ha ha ha!!
lummox-hope you enjoyed your hols.shame to cut them short but i dont blame you.went to sainsburys last night and told dh that would be my last shop now as i dont want to venture out, just in case.
...and ive still got 3 weeks to go!!

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 20:19

Anyway ladies, cheers for keeping me company for the past hour or so - will definately be popping in more often now! Take care, and good luck Katz! I'll be thinking of you!

tribpot · 20/05/2005 20:32

Gwen, we don't seem to have you in the stats, when is your due date?

I haven't had a single braxton hicks, and am still closely examining the boobs for leakiness as well. Something is happening, but it's taking its sweet time!

Off to Holland & Barrett tomorrow, will investigate the raspberry leaf tea. I think it'll be a non-starter for me though as I don't drink tea. (And therefore never remember to make a hot drink when I'm thirsty). I was going to do the perineal massage thing too, using extra virgin olive oil just for the irony value When are you meant to start that?

karen01 · 20/05/2005 20:35

Tribpot- SOrry to invade ( I am a June 2004 mum) I took Rasberry Leaf tea capsules and they seemed to help a bit from what I can remember.

gwenynbee · 20/05/2005 21:16

Tribpot - just popped in before I logged off! I'm due the 25th June!!!! Can't wait!!

I too keep on examining my boobies for leakages - every half hour!!! I really want to have them!! I've bought an industrial pack of breast pads, and it doesn't seem like I'll be having much use out of them! I hope I will get some milk - I really want to breast feed!

Mind you, the one thing that I am well chuffed about, I've always had these insipid pink nipples, and they're now "page three brown" WOW!!!! In the past I have thought about fake tanning them, but now there's no need!!!

Anyway ladies, I am off now, I am going to go and get a Chinese takeaway, whilst I have stil got the eating for two excuse!

LipstickMum · 20/05/2005 21:24

Evening gals

Welcome from me Gwenny, not sure I said it earlier

I drank the raspberry leaf tea, probably mixed with some other teabag. I also took the tabs when I got to my due date, ate pineapple, ate curry, shagged every night, walked everywhere, bounced on the birthing ball and had acupuncture Dd was born exactly 2 weeks after her due date! Who knows whether any of it brought labour on or not [helpless shrug emoticon]

Lee, thanks for posting about Lynny Poor thing! We miss her crazy posts, do wish her well from me too.

Time for half an hour of baby name book [yawn]

MrsWednesday · 20/05/2005 21:41

Lynny, hope you are feeling better soon. Lee, thanks for letting us know, send her my love.

Katz, I've only just popped in but I was expecting another birth announcement tonight . It's so exciting! Hope things are moving along nicely.

Gwenynbee, I laughed out loud at your salad comment. I've started on the red raspberry leaf tea and I have to say I don't find it too disgusting. Especially if I have some chocolate with it It's not having as drastic an effect on me as it did with Katz though. Just on the leaking boobs thing - mine didn't leak at all when I was pregnant with DS and I was able to breastfeed ok.

Good to see you again Lummox and Uki. Great news about your VBAC MrsF.

Cooperoo, I hope you had a good night out with your friend tonight, and that the tears didn't flow too much...Welshie, hope you and Ewan had a lovely evening together too. Jonah, definitely agree that you should be cooked for, not cooking. Mind you, that's not happening in this house...

Lippy, I've given up on names - if it's a boy we're knackered. We may just have to stick a pin in the phone book and go with that one. Hope you have some success tonight.

Lua, are you ok? Charleypops too? If anyone goes missing for more than a day I'm going to assume they are in labour!
