Hello everyone.

Great to hear from you christiana and quilted

Happy belated Birthday jetli

Hope you're feeling okay today hunny I honestly just want to strangle that ex of yours, I just hope you get to the stage where you want to too. I do sympathise, it must be hard but you got to forget about him. I think it'll will be easier for you when LO is here cos you'll only have eyes her him/her

siblings Hmm, yes I'm not sure how DD will be reacting yet, she's 3yrs 5months and she is very excited about the baby and talks to my bump lovingly but she is so used tobeing the only one. She pulled my top down the other day and started pretending to BF from me?? I'm not even sure she has seen my friend BF who has just had her baby, it was quite odd. Can see her reverting to more babyish tactics to get attention. She still has a nappy on for bed time but ithas been quite dry the last few wks and she has been having a wee first thing in the morning and even woke up the other night asking to go to the loo. Was thinking abut trying her out of nappies again at night but reckon I'll wait till she used to baby as I heard they can start wetting themselves in the day just for attention.

I felt crapola last night, very very bad achy back, just couldn't get comfy. Slept okayish though. Woke up at 6am and didn't feel baby move till 8am which is very unlike LO as she usually moves the minute I get up. I was freaking out so much, it doesn't help with my pessimism!

i can't believe that a week today I'll probably being going to theatre soon!

Just hoping this week goes quick which it should..got the hospital for pre-op on Fri and DP is starting his pat leave then and the days go quicker when he and DD are home so just got to get to Fri and then i think it will all go rather quick me hopes!

I'm starting to feel sick rather than excited now and I wish I hadn't watched the c/s vids that I have. I'm still worried about if I'll have to have a general or not..

Right I'm going cos I'm rambling xx

scully · 22/06/2009 12:09

I've never heard of Jelonet, wonder if I can get it here? I wouldn't have bf either of the dd's if I hadn't used nipple shields on and off for the first 8wks or so. They were a lifesaver and I have some Medela ones packed in my bag.
Great to hear your c/s went well Christiana, hope you get to just recover and feed dd2, and not do much else for a while now
Sibling behaviour is always interesting. dd1 was ok when dd2 arrived, not sure how dd2 will be though. Some days I think ok, other days maybe not. She is more headstrong so will just have to try and involve her lots and not let her get overtired or it will be on
Have a m/w check tomorrow, curious to see what position baby is in, has been moving around a lot and my bump looks to have got lower.
Picked up the mattresses for the moses basket and cot yesterday and am getting the baby capsule fitted tomorrow, so we're sort of ready at least, should something happen early

nicky6 · 22/06/2009 12:15

DD 17mths at nursery and hopefully blackout blinds will have her sleeping properly again - fingers crossed.

Have ordered double buggy and just packed my hospital bag although i cant really remember whats supposed to go in it DH away til friday and me due next thursday so am just hoping it doesnt come this week.

My midwife recommended kamilosan for sore nipples last time and it was good - me too already got nipple shields and plan to use as soon as I am home. DD was tongue ties so couldnt latch and we didnt find out til she was 4 weeks by which point boobs falling off and stopped, she then had a little op. so going to make sure they check at the hospital this time.

Mij · 22/06/2009 12:54

Thinking of all of you with symptoms - hope all is well. Good news on the GD, and

arse/head hooray! They're the right way around! Babe 'unusually' low for a second one, which explains why I feel like I'm trying to keep a melon up my fanjo... Had a horrible time at the clinic though - 1hr45min wait in a very hot and stuffy room rammed with other pissed off, hot and stuffy people. Staff very rude (I know they're under pressure, but so are we!) and blood pressure highest it's ever been, and I'm usually on the low side. Thank heavens for a kind doc.

So, back to Plan A to be at home with a pool and whale music .

Hope JLo is doing OK.

Found DD trying to put babygrows on first herself, and then on a way-too-big bear this morning. Was torn between balling her out for immediately destroying my sorted-out drawers, and wanting to help her feel included and not that she can't touch anything to do with the baby. Plumped for the latter and helped her find a more appropriately sized bear. Will have to limit on the amount of clothes she can nick though.

ilikeyoursleeves · 22/06/2009 14:30

Hi all, everything sounds like it's going really well for you Christiana & Quilted, I love the PN thread title, hopefully I'll be there soonish!

mij that's great that baby has got itself into the correct position, but sounds like a horrible wait you had this morning.

becca I'm sure it would be fine for you to take a towel in your mates car, they will understand surely! That reminds me that I should start sleeping on top of a bin bag now just in case, I don't want to ruin the mattress...

siblings I'm a bit worried too how DS will react as he is going through a bit of a mummys boy phase and won't stop kissing and hugging me. It's so sweet and fab but I wonder how he'll be when mummy has another boy to kiss too?

Last minute things yesterday I went into town for some bits and bobs and got lots from Primark for the hospital bag- slippers, PJ's, a hoodie and big pants all for £15! Stillneed to get a few things but I'm going back to the shops tomorrow all on my ownsome as DS will be in nursery all day

Does everyone else feel ready yet? I think I still feel a bit in denial that baby will be here in only a few weeks time!

krumbockmummy · 22/06/2009 15:51

Hello to all

Congratulations to christiana and quiltedrose on the safe arrival of your baby girls. I was so glad to read that you both had good births. Huge hugs and kisses XXX

I did the most stupid thing this weekend i weighed myself refused to do it through 1st and was the same through this one but i am smaller this time so thought why not!! BIG MISTAKE I through a bigger tantrum then my 3yr old DD LOL!!

Siblings DD is very much a daddy's girl, but loves the idea of a baby brother she has been asking every day is he coming out to day then when i say not today she pats the bump and says "Hurry up baby" she even uses her toy baby bottle to feed the bump through my belly button. But we will see how she feels when he is born she may change her mind ;)

Money is so tight at the min, mat allowance has not come through hoping it will end of july? could not get mat/sat pay work refused as i only a part timer But really loving being on mat leave could not do it anymore 12 hr night shifts are bad enough but being 8mths preg impossible.

The rlt tablets are going well, we are all set for baby now .

Fingers are crossed for all the babies due this week, good luck to all xxx

xxhunnyxx · 22/06/2009 16:19

Well I've had quite a productive day today (compared to sitting around watching Jeremy Kyle etc), had an appointment with Citizens Advice to check what benefits I will be entitled to, I was really starting to panic cos I'll only get £123pw SMP from work and I doubt I'll be getting any help from my ex but they confirmed that once I'm on SMP I'll get tax credits to top my income up so I shouldn't be much worse off than I am now... HUGE weight off my shoulders! Defo makes me more confident to just tell my ex to f* off now that I know that I reallly don't need him.

Also got a nursing bra, just got a cheapo t-shirt bra from Mothercare and then once my milk comes in I can get fitted with some decent ones. I don't wanna go spending £100+ on bras to then find that breast feeding isn't for me and give up after a few days or weeks.

Also just been for accupuncture, they offer it free to pregnant/post-pregnant women in my area. She treated my back pain but I said she is welcome to try and induce me so she also put some needles in my hands as this is supposed to trigger labour...fingers crossed .

Sorry not read through everyone's posts yet, it's been so busy on here lately it's hard to keep up.

slushy06 · 22/06/2009 16:21

I had anti-natal appointment today and baby is still 4/5ths engaged cephalic and not posterior like ds1. She has been like this for two weeks now so hoping she will stay there.

lots of tightenings but no other symptoms yet sadly.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has been a bit [hmm} moody.

I am also worried about ds1 reaction but then it can't be that bad or no one would have more than two(hopefull)

I have got everything ready now. But think I would be shocked if baby arrived now.

Hope all you ladies with symptoms have an announcement to make soon.

mumofshortie73 · 22/06/2009 17:18

Is so nice to be able to come on here and learn how everybody's getting on, glad things are good with you Christiana & Quiltedrose

I would genuinely love to go through the latest posts and comment, some great stuff there and so exciting but afraid my brain would explode through the immense effort I am enjoying the banter, though and good to know I am not the only one swinging from frenetic energy one minute to total exhaustion the next. Had to have a nap for an hour while DD at nursery this afternoon, she was up at 5.15 though, although i was not, very naughtily put on a DVD downstairs with some breakfast and returned to bed

Yesterday decided to watch 'The Rescuers' with DD and I was a total wreck- blubbing my way through it, these hormones have such a lot to answer for !

Baby's room decorated now, pram/car seat resurrected and babygros/vests washed & drying .... all systems go ! 5 weeks and counting ...

All the very best of luck to you folks who are having contractions or loads of m/w visits and imminent due dates, look forward to hearing your exciting news soon.

soozze · 22/06/2009 17:36

I like the idea of giving ds a role in all the baby activity, think I will borrow your cotton wool idea quiltedrose. Glad to hear it's all going well for you and christiana with the lo's at home

ds is also really cuddly and full of kisses, he never was before I got pregnant. I hope he's not too freaked out by the new arrival.

I'd forgotten about those gauze things and would never have remembered their name, but they were a lifesaver in the early days of BF - thanks misspaella

Good luck to all having early labour symptoms I still feel like it's ages away when my due date is less than 2 weeks now !!!

justlookatthatbooty · 22/06/2009 18:27

Hi all

Sounds like lots of us are having early labour symptoms. How exciting! I'm only 35+ 3 so feel like I'm behind many of you. Only just started to contemplate washing baby clothes and all that. I speak to myself with this but esp for any first time mums -make sure you get as much rest as poss in these last weeks....I remember when DS was born, I looked back at the last four weeks of pregnancy as the final last stretch of relaxation and rest possibility...for more than a year! Now DS is 17 months and there's not a lot I can do to prepare him as he doesn't really have the cognitive ability to understand yet. Feel abit emotional that my baby is about to become a big brother and I'll have to divide my attention amongst both kids and my partner. The challenge to come is just beginning to hit me, never mind the birth. Speaking of which, is anyone else here planning a VBAC? I've been reading through but my memory isn't holding much these days!
Also you mums with DC's in the same age range as mine ( 17 months now, 18 months when DD will be born) Do you have any suggestions re preparation or handling the whole birth thing?
Am feeling super knackered these days as I run my own business often going out to work (physical job) in the eves after DP gets home. Then ther's always the self employment admin and computer crap that never stops following me around. Pah! After a 0600 start and long day with DS it's really feeling like too much so I'm going to stop working this week. Feel like I need to crawl into my own space and cry, sob, read, rest, sleep, eat, wail at DP for no apparent reason coz actually he's perpetually great, listen to hypno birthing CD etc etc. We women...we do too much you know...(she said to herself)

Gonna go and create a sacred space just for myself to be hugely pregnant and utterly human.

x

krumbockmummy · 22/06/2009 19:38

justlookatthatbooty I am planning a VBAC crossing fingers that it all goes well. taking rlt tablets, walking everyday and using my birthing ball. trying to do want ever i can to have a better birth this time.

so any one with ideas?? very welcome xx

nicky6 · 22/06/2009 19:57

justlookatthatbooty - i have dd nearly 17 mths, and am due next week. I have told her baby in my tummy etc and coming out but to be honest i have stopped talking to her about it as everyone else mentions it and i dont want her to think its too big a deal. My friend 2 dd 17mths and 6 weeks!! said elder one great for a week, weird and wobbly for 3 and now completely back to normal like always been that way.

I too feel a bit sad that my little baby girl is now going to be the big one - she is so scrummy at the moment dont really like the idea of having to not give her my time, have decided to keep her in nursery though and cut hours down to give me a chance and also to not mess her about too much.

I agree with rest rest rest, i worked until 4 days before dd madness, and then had hideous birth and awful month after am hoping for better this time. Have been recommended by lots of people a book call active birth by Juju JUndin or something like that - originally recommended by obstetric physio to my mate so have started reading it and although not normally my thing some of it makes sense.

ANyway off to make dinner and early night

Patchybob · 22/06/2009 20:00

Hello everyone.

Those Jelonet gauze things sound fab, where do you get them? At the chemist? My boobs are killing me today, feel so sore I could hardly pull my top off tonight?

I have finally sorted out the baby's room, got the car seat and carry cot out of the loft and feel much more organised. I have washed everything but just need to put it all back together.

Bonzodoodah blimey I didn't know that about the pate, ate tons of it straight after ds and dd were born as I love it! Oops, but I suppose it didn't do them any harm. Now I know though I couldn't do it!! Oh no!!

ActivityApple I think the midwives and health visitors think that they can interfere with the flow of your milk and some try to disuade you from using them. I plan to use them only in the beginning when you are so sore it almost makes you cry!!! I think that if you don't use them all the time they are fine and it helps to prevent you getting too sore. Saying that I was speaking to a health visitor today who said that anything that makes life easier for you is a bonus! Too true!

I just want my baby out now!! 3 weeks today until my c section. I have some accupunture booked next wednesday and was contemplating asking her to do whatever she has to do to get things started early....but we are planning to go the legoland on the thurs and fri of next week as the dc have 2 inset days off school and it would be so mean to spoil their fun! !

Anyway, dh is away so I am off to eat crunchy nut cornflakes for my tea in front of the telly!

xxhunnyxx · 22/06/2009 20:10

Ha ha I've just been reading up on how to bring on labour and found one I've not heard before - wear your favourite knickers, sod's law will have it that your waters break in them. Made me chuckle!

nicky6 · 22/06/2009 20:10

ardax global healthcare are selling the jelonet gauze things on ebay £2 for 10 x 5cm x 5cm - is the right thing as have never heard of it before - and can you breast feed straight after wearing it or do you need to clean off before baby feeds again??

ilikeyoursleeves · 22/06/2009 20:25

justlookatthatbooty I think I'm due the same day as you? 24th July? My DS will be 21 months at my EDD and so far I've spoken to him intermittently about the baby eg, that there is a baby in mummys tummy, that he will be here soon but I'll still love DS lots and lots, I've set the moses basket up and said that's where the baby will sleep (his baby doll is in it!), I've also just got the car seat down from the loft and going to put it in the car so he can get used to it being there and I'll tell him that's where the baby will sleep. I got 2 books about waiting for baby to arrive and we have been looking through that together. I've also bought a little blankie for DS to give the baby and I'm going to get DS something from the baby too (tomorrows plan).

krumbockmummy are you sure you can't get mat pay for being P/T? I work P/T and I am getting paid over and above stat pay for the first 6 months, it's the NHS though so I'm not sure if the same applies elsewhere?

LargeGlassofRed · 22/06/2009 22:05

Hi all, still here have had few periods of contractions but they just stop when I get excited.
The midwife is coming tomorrow to try and do a sweep again really hope she can.
I have an induction booked for thursday if not, have that strange mix of excitement, fear, anticipation.
Good luck all of those niggling, how are the other twin mums doing any movement yet?

xxhunnyxx · 23/06/2009 09:14

LGOR good luck with the sweep today, hope she can get things moving for you. Well it looks like we'll have at least 5 July babies by the end of the week, and we're not even in July yet. So exciting .

ilikeyoursleeves · 23/06/2009 09:17

Morning all! DS is in nursery ALL day so I have the whole day to myself, what should I do though?

-nest like mad and clean the bathroom, sort cupboards out, hoover everywhere and generally get loads done so I'll feel better that it's all ready for baby
-go to Ikea for badly needed bits n bobs
-sit of sofa all day on laptop / sleep lots
-get into the garden to do some weeding and sunbathing...

All of the above or one of the above?

Hope everyone is doing well and good luck to anyone about to pop! LGOR I can't believe you and the twin mummies are still holding on!

chellebelle · 23/06/2009 09:53

I'm in such a grumpy, moany, whingy mood this morning and have been getting so easily irritated by DH and DCs at the moment. I know it's all down to tiredness but just can't seem to snap out of it. Thankfully am doing quite well at not actually taking it out on them but it doesn't stop me feeling crappy. The house constantly feels like it's had a pile of stuff put in the middle of each room and then had a bomb eploded under it and after I've tidied / hoovered / swept it gets trashed 10 minutes later and have to start tidying it all up again. My DH works really hard at work and comes home really knackered however does absolutely sod all at home which I'm starting to resent somewhat. But don't feel like I can ask him to do stuff either cause it's my job to do house and kids and his to bring the money in. Am so flippin hormonal at the moment too, mixed with tiredness just makes for snippets of tears on my part [grrr...].

Sorry for the whinge and moan, just needed to offload a bit. Feel free to ignore ! Will go and change DS2's stinky nappy and get him dressed, tidy up the mess DD and DS2 have just made in the other room whie I've been typing this and will make a cuppa and pull myself together. Then will get on with all the jobs that might make the house look less of a bomb site.

Hope others are having a better start to the day!

Still no news from JLo? Can't be too long til the announcement now v exciting!

dannyg · 23/06/2009 10:03

Morning all,
ilikeyoursleeves would def go for 3rd option bit of gardening mixed with chilling in the sun.

chellebelle i know how you feel with the tidying up im chef cleaner washer and cook, gardener etc for Dp & 2 Ds's 12 & 2 very tiring and it bugs me too the house will stay tidy for all of 2 seconds, gets ya frustrated i know. Perhaps we should go on strike!!.

Rang hosp today and finally have a date for presentation scan, this Fri 4 thankfully, be just my luck something happens before then!

Must go too Ds also has a Stinky nappy x x

Phoenix · 23/06/2009 10:40

Uch....It's been really dull and cloudy this morning but soooo bloody hot. The sun is just about breaking through now but it was still 22degrees when i was taking ds to pre-school. I'm so uncomfortable and sweaty . I've got the midwife this afternoon and i think i might drive down. It's in walking distance but i don't think i'll make it in this heat

I can't wait for all the birth announcements we should def have some by the end of the week

Hope everyone's doing ok

slushy06 · 23/06/2009 11:21

Ladies I need your advice I keep having a sloshy painful stomach ache any idea what this is I can hear loads of fluid moving around it kept me up all night. Any ideas on what it is and what I can do about it.

I am with you on the cleaning front girls my ds1 and dp have no respect for my need for order and cleanliness.
