So exciting! Great birth story gillyan, welcome baby summer!

Anyone feeling bored - come and rate/slate my names on the baby names thread. New suggestions very welcome, still stuck.

Having lots of pre-labour signs - felt pretty serious yesterday, but then it all died away. Guess this is how it's going to go. At least there's wimbledon on the telly...

Great story Gillyan, so lovely it's all worked out how you wanted and you're home already. Will you bf when your milk comes in?
Chellebelle, I'm noticing that with this baby. It's dc3 and is moving all over the place still, sometimes more engaged than other times. As long as it stays head down I'll be happy
As for 3yr olds playing up, add my dd2 to the list Was ready to put her on Ebay today, little so and so. I think they sense all the change and react to it, and being 3, getting any sort of attention is better than none at all.
Hi to everyone else, Friday evening here so hope you all have a great weekend

dannyg · 26/06/2009 09:51

Morning all glad all is well with you Gillyan & baby summer good to hear such possitive storys so far. Have Hv with my Ds2 today he turned 2 in May and is not talking much but understands everything you say so im getting it checked out this morn at 11. Also have presentation scan at 4 today, really nervious hope shes head down. Sorry if TMI but every morn this week so far have had upset tummy, not all day just in the morn, do you think its a sign my body's getting ready?.
Keep wondering to how my 2yr old will cope with new baby too Ds1 was ok when ds2 arrived he was 10 and fully understood x x

lydiathetattooedlady · 26/06/2009 10:02

morning everyone. fantastic birth story gillyan
thelollipoplady im the same, i go through parts of the day where i have contractions, cramps tighteneings, then when i start timing they seem to stop! im the same as you dannyg i seem to be getting an upset stomach at about 2 in the afternoon and needing to dash to the loo. totally unexpected as they've put me on strong iron tablets so i should be struggling to go! so far the lactulose has not had to be cracked open! my backs killing me today and have been up most of the night, i feel well and truly miserable i could cry!
dannyg good luck for your presentaion scan i hope baby is head down!
rubyriley i thought same as you with engagement, though im 3/5 so i guess im right in the middle! my bump is so low im going to get dp to take a photo of it it looks so funny (to me anyway!) i can get a full width span of my hand between my ribs and my bump!

slushy06 · 26/06/2009 10:04

I have been having regular every 10 mins but not painful cc all night, but I woke up they just stopped any idea how I can get them started or speeding up if they come back.

I just want this over with now so I can stop worrying how ds will react and just deal with it.

krumbockmummy · 26/06/2009 11:32

Hello to all hope every1 is doing well??

Got cousin coming over after i drop DD off at nursery, she had her baby girl 3 wks ago and is refusing to do any thing with her (well thats what i have been told) Baby was not planned and she has no mothering bone in her body but was hoping she would surprise us all. She is getting married on 25th July, she had implant in for years then had reaction to it so they took it out 2 wks later she was told she was 5 wks preg. big shock for her and soon to be husband but he wanted to keep baby so she did! Baby had lost over a lb in weight since she was born, i am hoping it is just the birth she had because nikki refused to push and let mw any where near her, head was out at 6pm but baby was not born till after 7?? they had to pull her arm out of socket to deliver her quickly as she stopped breathing. So traumatic for both sides but she phoned and asked if she could come over. really wont to get hold of her and shake her and scream what the hell are you doing, baby comes 1st now but dont think that will help? so any advise would help? hoping just a long chat will help and some positive comments, because every1 says she will make a bad mum i think she is playing up to it. will let you no how it goes? [hmn]

slushy06 i think every1 is wanting it over now, i no i do fingers are crossed for you. when they start go for a walk with some1. xx

Patchybob · 26/06/2009 11:39

Hi everyone

Christina your birth sounds fab, how is the pain going? Summer is beautiful, I had a quick look on fb today!

It sounds like we are all having lots of pre labour signs now. The night before last I had regular, sore bh every 4 mins for 2 hours then it all stopped. Nothing last night. My dh is working all weekend so I have lots of friends on standby! He gave me a stern talking to last night as he says I am over doing it and need to slow down. its so hard when you have other dc though isn't it.

Its ds 8th birthday next weekend so I just need to keep the baby in until that is over and then it can come!!!

krumbockmummy I hope your get together with your cousin is ok, sounds like she needs a good talking to!

Anyway thats me for now, hope you all ok x

Belgrano · 26/06/2009 12:28

hi everyone, sounds like lots of twinging and aching and BH going on for everyone now. Hope you're all ok.
I am totally gutted as have just found out I have group B strep. I was planning a water birth in the natural birth suite of my local hospital and now I will have to have IV antibiotics all the way through labour and be monitored constantly and the natural birth suite whon't touch me. Absolutely gutted.
On the positive side though, my placenta is no longer low lying so don't need a Caesarean. But on the negative side they estimate the baby to be about 7 pounds now and I AM ONLY 36 1/2 WEEKS! Yikes. That's scary if it s going to put on half a pound a week. Ouch.
Really bothered about this Strep B thing. Anyone had a labour with the IV antibiotics? Do you notice them? Did a private test and now sort of wish I hadn't!

nicky6 · 26/06/2009 12:51

well its nearly one o clock and my dh returns this afternoon from 2 weeks away. hoorah good baby for hanging on and not coming as early as dd (17mths). She too knows something is happening and is being a right little pickle also lots of change new room, new cot daddy away and I have just discovered she is cutting 2 new upper teeth so that probably explains a lot too.

Tummy so tight much of the time it feels like it will burst. Birth and everything last time was hideous so am trying to be positive this time around.

COngrats an another new lo on the thread.

Phoenix · 26/06/2009 13:43

Belgrano - I had Group B Strep in my last pg and had the antibiotics in labour. I didn't notice them tbh but i was just layed on the bed anyway. I'm sure you can still have a water birth but obviously in hospital. I'm quite freaked out that GBS hasn't been mentioned in this pg and i wish i'd have sent for a private test now.

Glad you and Summer are home Gillyan and doing well. She is gorgeous, love her blonde hair

Phoenix · 26/06/2009 14:00

Just had a read of the GBS website and have ordered a test kit. It should be sent out today and turnaround for the results is 3days, once they recieve the swabs back, so hopefully it will be in time and i can put my mind at rest

soozze · 26/06/2009 14:14

Gillyan wow amazing story. Thanks for all the detail. I?m not having a planned CS but if I end up with one now I won?t be as scared.

Lydia my bump is really low too ? just tried your hand test and passed people have been saying any day now for weeks, but really it?s always been a low bump !

Had mw appt yesterday, baby is head down but not engaged. She will give me a sweep if I want next Thursday!!

On the presents from the baby we?re thinking either a vtech toy or a piggy bank. Not sure whether to go with something he can keep or something he?ll love playing with. What is everyone else doing? We already have a cuddly doll that ds has picked to give to the baby .

Krumbock hope your cousin is okay. I remember feeling really shell shocked for weeks after the birth of ds and it wasn?t that bad and no one was expecting me to be a bad mom. I?m sure being able to talk it all over with you will help.

Belgrano I had the antibiotics last time. It?s not a constant thing ? they hook you up to the drip and it takes 15 mins or so to get a dose, then you are not hooked up anymore, although I think you get a top up every four hours or so. The monitoring was the part that made it difficult to be mobile but I heard that now you can get mobile radio monitors.

xxhunnyxx · 26/06/2009 15:14

Gillyan glad to hear everything went well, Summer is gorgeous and jealous of the name too .

scully lol at putting DD on ebay..would be interesting to see how much you'd get for her tho ha ha.

dannyg don't worry about the Ds's speech, my little sister hardly talked up until being 4 and she had her own language and then all of a sudden it seemed to just click in place. She's now 9 and there is no shutting her up, seriously she talks none stop!

slushy you could try massaging your nipples, apparently it can trick your body in to thinking you are breast feeding and help produce the hormone that causes the contractions. Or maybe just go for a walk to try and help things a long? I feel the same as u tho, just want it over with now. I've got another week and a bit left so God help me if I go over!

krumbock yeah I think you're right to go down the route of being positive, tell her what a lovely baby she has and how proud she must be etc and hopefully she'll start to believe it. Good luck!

Well my ex finally text me last night (nearly a week after us thinking baby was comin last weekend). He just said 'have u had him?'. I'm fuming! No apology for being such a cock. I've not even replied, I was tempted to just tell him to f* off but I thought I'd just let him sweat and wonder for a while. I don't understand how he could just spend the last week not knowing whether he's a Dad or not.

I think I've also got a sinus infection, I've got an appointment at Dr's at 4 so hopefully she'll give me some anti biotics. I've been taking far more pain killers than I should be doing plus been taking Sudafed which I know I shouldn't be taking but I'm just in so much pain .

I'm going to my Mum's friend's tonight to sort out my aromatherapy for whilst I'm in labour. She's fab, she's doin me some different mixes for different stages of labour so some will strengthen contractions, some will ease sickness and others relax me or give me more energy etc. It'll prob all go out of the window when I'm in all that pain but it might be worth a try!

Gillyan · 26/06/2009 16:30

I've tried uploading photos and mumsnet won't do it for some reason, I'll try again tomorrow.

Went for a walk with Summer inthe pram today, it was so nice! Gorgeous weather too!

Sorry to those of you who are getting bored, I was bored to death. Try and get a boxset of something to watch, I did Sex and the City and it was great!

xxhunnyxx · 26/06/2009 17:02

Gillyan just had a nosey of your pics on FB, Summer really is beautiful and so is your DD1. I'm so jealous, I want my baby NOW! I feel a tantrum coming on! lol

Gillyan, glad you had a positive experience.

DD much better today - bit moany this morning, but we both had a massive nap this PM, so lord knows when she'll go to bed - for every hour she sleeps in the day she seems to go to sleep in the evening 1.5hrs later, but the afternoon was so much more chilled. That adds fuel to my growth spurt/development spurt theory, as she rarely naps these days.

Had to call MW this morning as seemed to be losing a bit of fluid, but wasn't convinced it was waters going. Not even a trickle, just a damp patch last night. Didn't want to get involved with triage at the hospital, which is why I played a waiting game. Timing tightenings here just in case there's a pattern. Damp patches only seem to happen when I get up from lying down, though, so not sure what's going on. Could really do without this baby turning up quite this early - my Mum's not due up 'til next Friday and is a 4 hour train journey away, although my Dad has said he'd whisk her up the motorway if things took an unexpected turn . Agggghhhh! SO not ready for this to happen now. I've got loads to do at work tomorrow and Monday!! I mean, seriously big deadlines that majorly affect cashflow and everything! And only me and DP can do it (well, there's only one other person in the company anyway)!

Patchybob · 26/06/2009 20:06

Mij what did the midwife say then? Did she suspect it was waters? Hope your mum ges there in time and that you meet your monday deadline!

ActivityApple I'm with you on the piles. LOL at anus ol though!! Blimey they are sore aren't they? I hope they go away as even walking is sore for me today!

Christina hope the back gets better. I remember feeling quite achy after my 2 dc until you get used to sitting and feeding.

DC in bed now so I am going to chill out and watch telly with some chocolate. DD made some rocky road at a friends house and so far she hasn't had any, but I have eaten nearly all of it Best save her some!!

dannyg · 26/06/2009 20:12

Hia all had scan today at 4 and little madam is breech and even had her foot in mouth!! althogh it all looked a blur to me. Saw consultant strait after who has booked me in for a c section this mon!!, has not sunk in yet soooo much to do & not much time to prepare. Feel a real mix of feelings x x x

Phoenix · 26/06/2009 20:19

Wow dannyg that's happening fast. Hope you're feeling ok about it, i'm sure it will be fine

LargeGlassofRed · 26/06/2009 20:33

Three hour labour after induction, just gas and air and no intervention yipee. Will try to put on some photos later.
