Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

Welcome Sunshinejanuary.
Well we told our 2 dds the news. The eldest dd (4) is so excited, wants to know if she can help to look after the baby. Our 2nd dd (2) was not pleased. She is very clingy with me and gets jealous when I cuddle the 4yr old. When I told the mums at singing group about her, they thought I'd imagined things, until one of them asked her about the baby and she immediately started sucking her thumb, fiddling with her hair and turned away. . Oops! Although has she has since asked if the baby will be her friend. The hardship of being a child.

kittykat765 · 30/06/2009 12:45

bethoo gorgeous is probably very much an overstatement especially now I am in the 2nd trimester ( at being 33% of the way through this pg already). However I hope the pilates dvd will help me on the gorgeous front.

Welcome sunshinejanuary .

somewhathorrified · 30/06/2009 15:36

Welcome sunshinejanuary glad you plucked up the courage to say hi.

Since I found out I was preggers I've done no exercise at all! The Dr. said I should go for walks (good for placenta placement) which I love doing and pre preggers did all the time. Prob is I hate the sun....I know I'm a freak! So am currently waiting for summer to be over before I head out the door again...oh for the rain!

One question...has anyone else suddenly developed travel sickness?

sazlocks · 30/06/2009 17:25

evening all - just a quickie to update. Had first scan today - all fine - saw very wavy baby ! Dated at 10 + 3 which puts me at an EDD of 23rd Jan. Nuchal scan in a couple of weeks.
Will update the list when get a chance to come back on.
Hope everyone well

gizzy1973 · 30/06/2009 17:29

somewhathorrified i have always suffered with travel sickness on boats and backs of cars but now the front seat when my hubby drives seems to make me feel sick as well unless we are on the motorway - may have something to do with the way he goes around bends

think i may have had a touch of heatstroke yesterday as was out all day shopping and felt so ill when we got home - really bad headache, felt sick, no energy and had to call in sick today which i hate doing

Biccy · 30/06/2009 18:55

Thank you kittycat for finding the DVD, I will be off to order a copy shortly...

I also called in sick this morning; come down with a cold, on top of being so tired, and then I slept so weirdly I cricked my neck and could hardly turn my head. Made it in for about midday, and ended up telling them all at work that I am pregnant. Hadn't meant to tell for another couple of weeks, but realised my line manager is going to be out for weeks after the point I was waiting for, so, decided just to get on with it. All very sweet. One of the directors did the, 'was it planned, been trying long?' thing though...

Welcome sunshinejanuary, nice to hear from you!

Back again! Well today at work one of my colleagues who did not look well and was not in yesterday or Friday came in, then went home again, went to GP and rang team leader to say she has all the symptoms of swine flu!

Terrific! Another 2 have been very very ill recently and are now back in not looking well- obviously not great news for pregnant women (the woman from glasgow? who caught it at 6mths and both her and baby died)

anyway enough ranting about that, still haven't told work though today DP sent me a pg-related email about caffeine and a colleague was at my desk when it popped up on my screen and took ages to fade- I don't think I can keep it schtum for much longer! Terrified!!

PS Yes sudden travel sickness in front of car, especially around bends and over speed bumps.

crumpette · 30/06/2009 19:12

And no exercise has been done here whatsoever- none at all- not even walking (other than to kitchen)! I am a disgrace!!

Biccy · 30/06/2009 20:14

Oh dear, that set me off on a nice little spree.... one pilates DVD, one birthing ball, and one copy of The Pregnancy Book heading my way now. Goodness me, I hope I'm not tempting fate. In for a penny, in for £25.75...

sunshinejanuary · 30/06/2009 20:16

Just adding myself, i hope i haven't messed it up!

Crumpette - i love the name, it is actually what we have been referring to out little one as!

londonlottie thank god I am not alone in my complete avoidance of physical activity!

Biccy · 30/06/2009 20:36

Very glad to hear most other people have been a bit low on the exercise front!

The thing for me is that first time round I was walking to work and back five days a week, which meant I was clocking up 20 miles, up and down hill, over the course of the week, and I went to aquafit every week as well. These days, on the two days I'm at work, I drive (so that I can maximise my hours at work while minimising dd's hours at CM, plus I now have a very heavy laptop to lug about with me).

So, I'm just worrying that I'm not as fit as I was last time, and feeling like I need to do something about it (should have been doing something before being pg of course..).

I suppose I do do quite a bit of chasing around after dd, but I don't think it's quite the same.

Must talk to dp about the aquafit; once my evening energy levels are up again I expect he'd be up for babysitting so I can do that again.

quirkychick · 30/06/2009 21:10

I think it is really hard to do exercise when you feel shattered/unbelievably sick! I have ordered pilates dvd - thanks for recommending! I am hoping to do more when I get to that magical 2nd trimester and feel active and glowing.

Dizzyclarebear · 30/06/2009 22:09

I'm also in the 'slob' camp! Exercise is the walk to/from the train station - about 15 - 20 mins. But other than that, it's a lot of sitting on the sofa eating... I think after work, eating and sleeping there's really not time for more...

I'm guessing it's good news on the Downs combined test - on Friday they said they'd call in the next two working days if it was positive for Downs, and no calls so I guess that's one less thing to worry about.

I've decided to tell work tomorrow, think they've guessed as I'm huge and now post 12 weeks should be ok... hoping my boss takes it ok. Feeling a bit mean as we've had a round of redundancies recently and she fought to keep me. (she's one of the biggest billers in our office, and apparently told HR if i went, she did- not something they can afford to happen!) Fingers crossed for happy reactions...

Dizzyclarebear · 30/06/2009 22:10

oh, and hello Sunshinejanuary!!!

maygirl · 30/06/2009 22:11

Hi all,
I'm exercising, but has not stopped the pounds piling on. I can only fit into 3 items of non-maternity wardrobe, luckily only work 3 days a week, so haven't had to wear maternity gear there yet!

Last pregnancy I was really active, body pump, spinning, aqua, step and running/cross trainer 3-5 x per week up till 40 weeks, but still managed to gain 4 stone (and end up overdue, induced and with a emergency c-section).

Felt great though, was convinced would have such an easy birth, ha ha ha!

Looks like heading that way again!

Welcome sunshinejanuary!

sleepingalot · 01/07/2009 04:04

Well, it's ealy hours of the morning and I can't sleep. Woke up at 2 am wide awake and hungry! Got up, ate a yoghurt(attempt at heathy-ish snack, a chocolate bar and biscuits.

Was starting to feel guilty reading through the thread hearing about people exercising, then continued reading to find people in the same boat as me... NOT exercising. But felt guilty enough to look up the DVD recommended on play.com only to find it was 'out of stock'...Must be so many orders from MN. Can't say I didn't try.

Hi sunshinejanuary and welcome.

I'm almost at the 12 wk mark and have been counting down the days. Looking forward to telling friends & family this weekend...but have kind of enjoyed having a such a special secret. Not going to tell people at work until next week tho.

crumpette someone I know (who is 5 months pregnant) has had swine flu! In fact it has been round her workplace where there are 4 pregnant women and 2 of them caught it. They had some kind of health officials in who closed the place for a few days and gave everyone medication. She couldn't have the medication and was quite ill but they reassured her there would be no effect on the baby. She is fine now - as are all the pregnant women and their babies...all were checked after...Hope this helps?

The woman from glasgow who caught it at 6mths and both her and baby died had 'underlying' health problems.

Well may just try and get back to sleep, need to get ready for work in 2 hours!

Biccy · 01/07/2009 09:58

Sleepingalot, might it be time for a name change... sleeplessalot? I'm also incredibly restless at night, I find it really annoying, I just want to go to bed and sleep... hey ho.

Biccy · 01/07/2009 10:03

I keep meaning to say, iateallthecreameggsyummy - are you around? How did the scan on Friday go?

bethoo · 01/07/2009 10:13

i hope her scan was ok.
i am 13 weeks today and counting down the days til my scan on monday! getting excited. should be able to see alot more as will be only a few days away from 14 weeks. i will be keeping my eyes peeled for a nub!!

VivClicquot · 01/07/2009 10:33

Morning all, and welcome to sunshinejanuary

All my good intentions re. exercising have gone out of the window of late - I've not been running since before my holiday to Spain a few weeks ago.

I feel really guilty and keep thinking I must keep at it, especially as I did the Manchester 10km the week before I found out I was pregnant. Also, I know I'm going to be a lot larger on my wedding day than I had originally planned, but it would be nice if at least some of me was toned!

On the appointment front, I'm now really glad I got sent for an urgent referral as another letter came from the hospital yesterday saying that I was booked in for my first ante-natal appointment on the 7th Augsust - how ridiculous is that? I appreciate there's been a crossover in the letters and this one has been sent in error, but I'll be knocking on for 15/16 weeks at that point. If it wasn't for tomorrow's appointment and scan, I'd be furious if I had to wait that long before getting seen!

somewhathorrified · 01/07/2009 10:36

Can I just say I'm now at the point where I refuse to step foot on the bathroom scales! I feel way too much like a beached whale despite the fact that my size 12s are now a comfy fit so probably developing body dismorphia...oh the joys of pregnancy. Supposedly 13+3 but no scan date yet, I know I should get in touch with MW about that, but can't bring myself to actively encourage a visit to the hospital.
