HC - you'll be on track to be in the Guiness Book of Records for longest headache at this rate!

HumphreysCorner · 17/06/2009 22:37

The Dr asked how many headaches I had suffered since last Thursday-took a while to explain just one continuous one, day and night. Off to dose up again.

Night ladies.

Mossop · 18/06/2009 08:38

Morning everyone!

Been trying to catch up with what you've all been doing - I can't believe how busy everyone seems to be, what with growing vegetables, keeping hens and bees, running holiday cottages etc. You put me to shame!

Sorry to hear that some of you are feeling unwell, luckily I'm feeling fine (touch wood), my bump has come on a lot in the last week!

We're off on holiday on Saturday for a week in South Wales. Going with my parents and my brother's family - so that should be interesting! Weather forecast is looking good though. Can't wait to take DD to the beach, she's hoping to see starfish and crabs

Enjoy the nice weather.

Lameez · 18/06/2009 09:06

Morning Everyone...x

HC its a relief that someone seen you, i hope your doing much better.

I have been so anxious, my scan date has finaly arrived... yeay its tomorrow morning... Im well excited and hubby and i are still in two minds about finding out the sex.... I guess we'll see how it goes when we get there.

Its real upseting reading all the stories in the papers about the child abuse and stuff, this morning in the metro i read that a 30 year old lady gave birth at home in her bathroom to a little boy and she stuffed loo paper in his mouth to stop him crying as she came from a strict catholic home, and she didnt realize she was preg untill she gave birth, the most upseting part is that she later passed away in hospital because she was Haemorrhaging. Sometimes i just think life is real sad......

Anyway, iv been feeling poorly the last few days my MS is back and i hate it, im also lossing my Appetite again... thats enough of my moaning... sorry ladies

I hope everyone else is doing great

Hi all,

HC just wanted to post something about headaches. I once had a headache for a whole week. It was a continuous one too. I went to the doctors after about 4/5 days and they sent me to hospital for tests! Anyway they didn't find anything worrying, and said it was stress related. Maybe this is the same for you.

They gave me cocodamol and I only needed to take one and it cleared it. My headaches started when ds started reception. He cried an awful lot, for a whole term and it was upsetting, but I hadn't reaslised how much it was stressing me out.

I really hope you feel better soon as headaches can be so awful to cope with.

Lameez That story is so sad
Good luck with your scan.

Mossop Have a fab holiday I just went away with family (15 of us) and I survived!

Ruby We have quite a nice weekend planned. On saturday ds has a friends party to go to and then it's the school fair. And on sunday we're having a Fathers Day BBQ. Weather looks good too.

I'm off for a meeting at dd's nursery in a bit. They will tell us about her new class and we'll find out which children will be in it. I really hope she's still with her bestest friend. Fingers crossed.

Thanks all, slept last night until 5am as the codeine knocked me out. What a relief! Feel a tad more human but did lose the plot first thing with both girls and DH and ended up saying the F word. DH was telling the girls that mummy was being over the top so felt like stabbing him. I get up and he lays in bed for nearly 40 mins then eats his breakfast and gets ready for work while I am seeing to the girls, cat, garden birds and tidying up. Does wind me up.

princessmel-I don't think my headaches are stress related as they are too much like migraines and I am wasn't stressed until I got ill last week. I suffer a migraine every month and have done for the last 21 years but usually I have 9 months free of them when PG but not this time.

Lameez-gosh, that poor lady and little boy. Sorry you feel bad again but so pleased you have your scan. Seeing your baby makes the sickness bearable (well, almost).

Mossop-how lovely, hope you all have a great time.

rubyslippers-hope it is nice all next week as DD2 is 3 on the 27th so having a family BBQ. It rained last year.

Have a good day ladies

HC

littlepea72 · 18/06/2009 11:43

I need to get an appointment for myself & my DS with the doctor....we can be seen until mid July!!! I am now about to lose the plot!

SassJ · 18/06/2009 13:08

HC - so sorry about your headaches and the marathon you had to endure to see someone about fixing them! Make sure you don't take that codeine on an empty stomach - will make you very sick indeed!

LittlePea - can't belive that you have to wait a month for an appointment - that sucks! No way you can phone up on the day for a cancellation or something?

Have noticed that Fidelma and a few others have mentioned sheepskins for the baby to sleep on (in cot/moses basket?). I had thought of doing this, especially because it will be October when the baby comes and quite chilly, but I was wondering where you'd get one from. Ikea do them for about 20quid, but would that be OK? I mean, will it be clean, or do you wash it, or something? Is that a daft question?

I have to do a mountain of ironing today.......but on the plus-side it's so I can pack! We're off to Rhodes for three weeks on Saturday - hurrah! So excited to see everyone (lots of friends and family, as it's DH's village), and be spoilt rotten! This will be the first holiday for about a decade where a. it's for so long, and b. I won't be permanently attached to my Blackberry and stressed out! Also really looking forward to spending proper time with DH - he works so hard, bless him and really needs a break.
Tomorrow I'm on a shopping trip for last minute essentials (and to get everything waxed - and I mean everything!!), and that's it! Ready to go!

Anyone got any good tips for flying EasyJet whilst pregnant? You supposedly don't need a doc note until 28 weeks - but do I trust that?

Treats · 18/06/2009 14:24

Had to write to my boss today with formal confirmation of my mat leave plans - the deadline (15 weeks before the expected week of delivery) is next week!! How did that come round so soon??? Just flagging this up for anyone else who needs to do this.

HC - glad you're feeling better and hope the codeine works. Sad to hear that you usually suffer from such frequent migraines - do you know what the cause is?

littlepea that the doctor can't see you until mid July. That's really quite appalling.

SassJ - have a great holiday!! Hope you get to really relax and put your feet up. Might be worth getting a doctor's note anyway? but if their Ts and Cs say 28 weeks, then they've got no reason to ask you to produce one if you are less than that.

Lameez - I missed that story but it sounds really sad. I know I'm much more affected by that kind of thing than I was before I got pregnant.

Went to the dentist yesterday. This is usually a bit of an ordeal as for some reason I have terrible teeth - really sensitive and always needing fillings. To date, I've shelled out a fortune on dental treatments. Was quite looking forward to not having to pay this time round (if not actually looking forward to whatever treatment was deemed necessary) but guess what? Nothing needed. Just when it's free, as well....... Curses! Still, I'm not REALLY complaining

princessmel · 18/06/2009 16:14

sassJ The sheepskin we had for ds and will use again is from John Lewis. It was quite expensive but was 'baby safe' etc. Maybe they are treated with something that the Ikea ones wouldn't be??
We had one that went in the pram/buggy aswell. It had holes for the straps to go through.

We used it with ds as we were desperate to try anything that made him like his moses basket more. This did seem to help. A few months ago he started using it again! (he is 6 btw) He'd been upset in the night and was really distressed, we couldn't calm him down. All of a sudden I thought of his 'fluffy' and suggested it and he went back to sleep. He's had it in ever since.

From what I remember they are good for all weathers, keep them warm in winter and cool in summer.

Treats That is so typical about the dentist. We go next week with my free card!

Littlepea Terrible about your doctors. We are lucky and almost always manage to see the doctor on the day we call.

HC Glad you are not stressed, but that you have so many headaches.

OP posts:
princessmel · 18/06/2009 16:14

sassj about 3 weeks in Rhodes btw!!

OP posts:
HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 18/06/2009 21:22

Yes sassj - your hols sound fab.

Treats - thats so typical re dentist! I think I'll get my eyes tested as thats supposed to be free too isn't it.

Bad heart burn for me today. So annoying.

Its my MW appointment tomorrow so got a load of questions for her. Have a good evening.

BellaCullen · 18/06/2009 21:50

HC glad youve finally been seen cant believe they wouldn`t see you the day before and just palmed you off to mw.

SassJ have a good holiday you`re so ;ucky to go for 3 weeks.

Feeling good this week and baby is kicking loads.Saw GP monday who measured bump and its the right size. There I was thinking I`m small.Think because got bump so early expected to be bigger now but must have slowed down but still right size, hope that made any sense.Going to BBQ on sat and having our own on sunday for fathers day, hopefully weather will be nice.

fidelma · 18/06/2009 22:11

SASSYIthink my sheepskin came from JO JO Mama Bebe or the Great Little Trading company. It was a good by.I used it in the cot for a long time and DS even used it as a pillow when he was bigger.Have a great holiday.

I also had a bad run of Braxton Hicks last night.I called DH home from work so I could put my feet up.(well after I had got the 3 children into bed!!!!)

HC sorry about your headache.I know what you mean about DH being in bed.It is quite like that in our house.Especially as time has gone on.DH goes to work and I manage the house and children. We both work really hard in different ways.I see my downtime as time in the middle of the day and I often have a rest or do something for me.it is full on when the children come back from school untill bed time.As long as DH has fun quality time with the children I am happy. When we are on holiday he is 100% on the job.It is our way of supporting each other. We are always together at the weekends, but we do take turn in napping.

I am very tierd at the moment.16 weeks to go it feels like an eternity.

We are all away for the weekend so I will catch up on Sunday evening.Enjoy the weekend.

SassJ · 19/06/2009 07:38

Had my 24 week apt with the Doctor last night. First time I've seen the Doc, rather than a midwife. She was great. Measured the Bump and listened to his heartbeat for the first time too - very cool! All is looking good, so very happy. Only small thing was there were ketones in my urine - she said I have to try and eat more regularly so my body doesn't have to rely on fat stores. I was quite surprised, as I eat very well (read 'often'!), but I'm going to get some breakfast bars and carry them around with me.
Thanks everyone for the advice on the sheepskins - that makes much better sense. I really like the idea, so will definitely be adding that to my ever-growing list of things to buy when we're back from Greece.
So excited about hols now, we'll be there in less that 48 hours! WooHoo!!

smallone · 19/06/2009 09:22

Morning all, slept terribly last night, bump was really uncomfortable, boobs hurt, DH snoring etc I hope this isn't it for the rest of the pregnancy now.

Our TV died yesterday and I have been relying heavily on cbeebies! So was saying to DH that I'm going to have to pull my finger out and take dd out A LOT to entertain her, but she's woken up this morning with a streaming cold. AGGGHHHH!

Had my eyes tested on tues and it doesn't count for maternity exemption.

Sass I think ketones are related to your blood sugar so, prob more to do with what you eat, spreading your carb intake throughout the day should help.

sammysam · 19/06/2009 09:48

Hi all.
Feel rubbish today
Had a lovely day yesterday-went up to my sisters and went to the dentist and garden centre.....then it all changed at 5.30 I had dd crying all the way home, then my phone fell out from its cubby hole in my car under my foot so I had to try and get it then the car in front stopped (quite heavy traffic) and my foot got caught on the mat and I went up the back of him I was in such a state and so lucky that he was such a nice decent man else I don't know what i'd have done! I then had to drive another 40mins to get home.
It wasn't too bad a crash, and dd and I are ok but it has really shaken me up and I keep crying. Really don't need this at the moment-we have had loads of expences at the moment, plus all our birthdays next month and now this. RUBBISH.

Also found out yesterday that dd's missing tooth (has never grown) is not there and will not ever grow-dentist has never seen a missing milk tooth in her 40ish years! In her opinion the adult tooth isn't there either-poor dd-it is one next to the front tooth! It is a genetic thing apparently-no idea where from though! I foresee some expensive orthodontic treatment in the future

Sorry for the me me me post-brain can't think of anything else this morning

smallone · 19/06/2009 11:47

Oh dear Sammysam, I hope today is a better day! I think, if its your front 8 teeth you can get it on the NHS, for cosmetic reasons, but don't quote me on that, worth looking into tho.

HumphreysCorner · 19/06/2009 11:57

Oh sammysam-what a rotten day you have had. Bumping into cars is a speciality of mine and I can't cope with it either but luckily my DH is in the car repair business and always rings the other party to persuade them that DH will do the repairs without going through the insurance company. Do you have a high excess and is there much damage to the car infront. The bumps usually occur on the days the girls are creating in the back of the car. Hope you get it sorted smoothly.

Sass-am very of your trip to Rhodes for 3 weeks. You won't want to come home. I will be nearly 29 weeks when we speak again. Nearly bag packing time.

fidelma-have a great weekend.

smallone-that's a pain about your eye test not being free. Thank goodness for the maternity exemption as my tablets on Wednesday were £14-40.

Not sure if my SIL is being 'funny' again as my bro called into mum and dad's last night and told them SIL wouldn't be coming to DD2's B'Day party on the 27th as she was working, just him and my nephews. She hasn't told me though and anyway, before I picked the date I asked her whether Sat or Sun would be best for her and she said either day was fine. Same applies to DD1's party in July so have sent a text saying I hear she can't make it and hope to see her in July.

Love to all!

HC

sammysam - hope you are feeling better. I bumped into someone last time I was pg. They stopped suddenly on a roundabout and its always your fault if you go into the back of them. It does shake you up though. Take it easy and put your feet up.

Saw MW today and she said that the migrane was due to high prolactin levels (which are to do with milk generation) and sounds like you can't do much about them and it will just go away.

Hi all

thanks for the advice on what to buy - it all seems so daunting - am sure I'll end up buying loads and then not needing things but am likely the idea of the sheepskin so will pop one on the list (thats the list we dont even have as yet!!)

great news yesterday that we finally exchanged on DP's house. Now all we have to do is sell mine and buy one large enough for the 3 of us!

Scan this Thursday - i have been so of all of your scans - I'll be 22+4 so can't wait to see how my alien is developing

tkae care all and have a good weekend
