Congrats on all the great scans! Got my 20 (22) week one today. It's our 5th one and everything has been absolutely fine so far so no idea why I am so scared!!!!

littlepea72 · 05/06/2009 10:08

Devil...i have another scan in 8 weeks time, they will look at the baby & also check for any contractions ....they do scan alot in Germany, not complaining! After that i get about another 2-3 scans, ive never had so many scan pictures in my life!

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 10:27

Morning all,

congratulations on all the great scans. It does seem a long time now until we see (and hold) our babies again but I'm sure it will fly. It'll be nice to hear the heartbeat again next week at my 24 week mw appt (I'm 23+5 today) but the bean seems to be constantly wriggling and kicking away so I'm not worried about her - just worried she doesn't seem to sleep!

I bought some lovely new tops from Jojo maman bebe this week - I am a bit addicted to buying maternity wear which is odd as I hate shopping usually but I can't bear to wear anything tight or uncomfortable these days. I've only put on 12lb which I think is okay but my bump already feels big to me and I think I may have spotted the early signs of a few dreaded stretch marks . Luckily I'm still feeling really fit and healthy so I'm really enjoying this pregnancy.

I started pregnancy yoga this week which was lovely and relaxing. It was nice to meet some other mums to be and I'm quite looking forward to NCT classes now.

Sorry for me me me post but once I start trying to comment on everyone elses news it takes up a whole page and I hate leaving people out.

ChocolateRabbit · 05/06/2009 10:34

Hello everyone. I lost track of the last thread so couldn't cope with reading all through! I'm due on October 9th and expecting a DS! DD(2) is not entirely impressed - she is insisting he is called 'daddy' as that is the proper name for boys .

My scan was all good, but had a very irritating dr appt yesterday. BP was 120/70 but swollen ankles so the dr has said I must see the MW every two weeks for the rest of the pg to check my blood pressure. It went a lot higher after that. I'm also too fat apparently. Started at 10st 8 (after not loosing all DD weight) and currently 11st 10. I put it down to feeling so ill for the first few weeks I just ate.

Congrats all on good scans

SassJ · 05/06/2009 11:06

Morning all!
Can't beleive the weather today - where did all the rain come from? I was supposed to be going to Wisley Gardens with my sister today for a nice relaxing horticultural experience (?!), but no chance in this!
IDOB-I hate shopping too normally, but I'm loving the maternity clothes (my Next order just arrived). I'm dressed much better pregnant, than I ever was un-pregnant! I'm really enjoying the whole pregnancy thing though, and am very proud of my bump, so that's probably the reason.
Woke up this morning feeling very happy and really excited now we know we're having a boy. I'm already starting to plan nursery furniture (Ikea have some nice things) and decorations - I'm going to do some big, brightly coloured snails and frogs and stuff and put them on the walls, and then buy mobiles etc in the same theme. The thought of packing my overnight bag just makes me feel even more excited, not nervous at all!
ChocolateRabbit - WHAT!? FAT?! I can't believe all of these doctors being so mean. The pregnancy weight gain, swelling etc is bad enough (and completely normal!) at making us all feel poo sometimes. What does he expect you to do, go on a diet whilst you're pregnant? Arggh, numbnuts!
The thing that makes it particularly bad is the fact it doesn't seem to be accross the board, meaning some doctors make a fuss, others don't mention it. My BMI is 30 (technically borderline obese, although at 5'9" and a size 16 I feel fine!) and no one has even mentioned it to me as a potential problem. I feel great pregnant! So there!
Sorry bit of a rant, but it's just so mean and un necessary.

sammysam · 05/06/2009 12:43

Wow I just popped in to check up on scan news and thought phew only 4 posts-then saw there was a new thread with 32!!! Sorry but my brain can't cope with all that catching up

Congrats on all the scans

at all the problems people are having with consultants etc-I thought pregnacy was a time NOT to be stressed!

I'm finding it interesting that most people seem to want a boy (especially if it's the first).....It seems to me that if you have a boy first you are more desperate for a girl second.... (well everyone I know anyway!)
I'm very happy we're expecting another girl-would not have a clue what to do with a boy now!! A boy would've been good for dp and his family but girl is much better for me, dd and finacially as we have everything already!

I really want to buy more clothes but have 3x the amount I had last time and since this baby is almost certainly our last it is a bit silly.....

I have my 24wk midwife check on monday and then a 24wk scan and consultant appointment to check everything is ok re parvovirus-dp has taken the day off so we can really enjoy the day.

It is really funny now that you can see the baby moving so clearly sometimes-think it has freaked dd out a bit as although she is always telling everyone there is a baby in mummys tummmy being able to see it moving is something completely different
I'm feeling like i'm still quite small-but then I suppose if you show early there is a bit of time where you must stay a similar size? Or maybe that is why you can see so much movement!!! With dd I was just a solid bump of baby...

Congrats littlemiss on finding a house! Where abouts is it? I wish we could move.....it is going to be a squish!

God i've rambled-sorry!
Off to plant the peas and marrows-have left it a tad late !

Have a great afternoon x x x

MrsKitty · 05/06/2009 14:35

Have developed hayfever from hell over the last few days ...was up every hour on the hour last night as couldn't breathe and then DS woke at 6am (very unlike him - is usually more like 8!) ...have now just got to work (shattered!) and am here till 10pm

Anyone got any tips for relieving hayfever in pregnancy? (apologies if this has already been asked & I've missed it!)

Wow - loads of scan news over the last couple of days - glad they've all gone well...Anymore to come?

DevilsAdvocaat · 05/06/2009 15:56

chocrabbit i am due on the 9th and have put on 16 lbs too

LumpyBumpyThingy · 05/06/2009 16:01

Hi all, Im 20+6 weeks, due oct 17th, day after my bday!! my scan is next friday. This will be baby number 2 for me. dd is nearly 9 months old so only 13 months between! Hows everyone been doing? xxx

princessmel · 05/06/2009 17:16

Hi everyone

I have no idea how much I have put on. I think I look quite big though, in the bump dept.

MrsKitty, sorry I don't have any advice about Hayfever , maybe someone at the pharmacy can advice you?

I have had a really busy day today. Had 2 extra children to look after (for my friend) so had 4 on the school run. Dropped 3 off and took the youngest to toddler group. Then collected dd and another little boy! Then my friend came over with her 2 dc's. I made lunch for them all, that was 5 children and 2 adults.

Then I did the school run to get ds and my friends dd and came home and put 3 loads of washing away and made tea for the 4 children. dh and I are having a curry later!! We deserve it He's supervising them eating tea now. I am having 5 minutes to myself.

Hope you're all ok. I feel a headache coming on....

OP posts:
idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 17:40

MrsKitty - I had an allergic reaction and came up in a rash in April. My GP prescribed me piriton (he said I could buy it over the counter but might as well have it on prescription as I was in the surgery). You can't take the version were you just take 1 tablet per day, you need the one that recommends 1 every 4 hours/up to 6 per day.

I don't know how good piriton is for hayfever - it clears up my allergies (I react badly to insect bites and some plants) but makes me really sleepy and gives me a bit of a headache so I usually have Telfast on prescription but my GP said that piriton was the only anti-histamine he could give me while I'm pregnant.

HTH.

MrsKitty · 05/06/2009 19:04

Thanks beanie - Might consider asking for some piriton - although being sleepy not great as shift-working throws me out anyway, but if things don't start to improve in the next week or so I think I'll have to go for it.

idreamofbeanie · 05/06/2009 19:11

MrsKitty - I know lots of people who take piriton and don't get drowsy at all but I also know a couple who are like me. Worth a try though.

LittleMissBliss · 05/06/2009 22:30

Had a lovely day today with Jetgirl from my antenatal thread, we took her two dc's and ds to the Oceanarium in Bournemouth. Ds loved it!.

I'm now exhausted, we caught the train so lots of walking and Bournemouth is full of hills. My body aches which is a big sign i need to walk more. I'm determined to not put on as much weight this pregnancy. I was pretty much all bump with ds but managed to get huge at the end, looked very funny.

SammySam We've found a house in Oakdale. We currently live in Hamworthy and it's only a five minute walk to the park/beach so will miss that if the sale goes through. Although Oakdale is more central as dp works all around Poole and sometimes Bournemouth. It also has a better ofsted reports for it's first schools. But saying that we go to an under 5's group at Hamworthy first school and it seems lovely inside, it also has a fairly newish head.

Just have to keep our fingers crossed, i will only have 17 days until my EDD on Monday and it's freaking me out a bit being in this limbo.

rubyslippers · 06/06/2009 09:25

smallone · 06/06/2009 13:03

Hi all,

Is anyone else hoping for a VBAC? I've got myself in a bit of a flap about it since seeing that rubbish registrar. I think the long time I spent in hosp and the continuous monitoring stopped me from progressing last time and I'm worried that they will insist on this because of the previous cs. Wish I could see my consultant, because by all accounts he's really really good.

littlepea72 · 06/06/2009 14:59

My notes arrive next week from NI, im wanting a VBAC this time, but my mum & DH have told me its not going to happen . I suppose i know myself it will be a cs again, but the thought of 6 weeks recovery time again is not nice. So it will be another cs and i will be knocked out cold for it.

Im feeling so much movement now, 2 days non-stop! I can't sleep because she is bouncing around so much lol...my DH hates it, it freaks him out. She can also get herself in places that makes it hard for me to sit down, standup & even makes me sick. This time round is so different than when i was having my DS, it was so easlier then. Could it be my age???? I was 31 the last time, now im 37, has anyone else found that?

Flamesparrow · 06/06/2009 18:41

Argh - I had all these plans to keep up with this thread, and you're already 43 posts in!

HumphreysCorner · 06/06/2009 20:20

Same here Flame but am too busy in the garden. At least if we get the rain we are expecting I might keep up.

littlepea-not your age, you are just having an active child. DD1 manic movement=hyper child, DD2 no movement=calm child.

Hope all OK.

HappyTangerine · 07/06/2009 17:44

Just logging on to say thanks for new thread-laptop couldn't cope with the old one in the end so I had to abandon it.

Congrats on all the scans.

Treats-am limiting myself to 2 cups of tea a day and that is it-hate coffee.

Is it me or does time seem to be going v quickly now? Have got mw appt tomorrow at 10.40, hoping all well as I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks next Monday.

Spent yesterday home in Wales with my mum and sister. My mum looks q ill, am a bit worried about her as she is getting repeated chest infections and is so stubborn she doesn't want to "bother" the doctor. Baby was moving about a LOT-but every time my sister went to put her hand on my tummy, he went all quiet again . It took us 7 hours to get back (usualy 4) due to the horrendous weather and I thank God we made it out of Wales when we did.

MrsKitty-I have awful hayfever as well. The only thing that I find helps is Sterimar sea salt nasal spray, at least it clears my nose.

princessmel · 07/06/2009 17:51

Hi all,

Have had a nice day today walking through the woods at Ashridge. We met up with my antenatel friend from NCT classes with ds.

It was ok weather wise till right at the end when it started to hail!! The beginning of the week was roasting...so odd.

I am really enjoying being pregnant at the moment. Not feeling sick or faint and am managing to stay up to a reasonable time in the evenings. I have plenty to wear so that's not bothering me either. Nights are a bit disrupted, rolling over involves bringing my wedge with me. And all the weeing...but apart from that, it's ok!!

Watching Robots on dvd with the dc's and dh now

OP posts:
HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 07/06/2009 18:47

smallone - I'm with you hoping for VBAC! Sounds v similar.
Just ask to see your consultant and they should set up an appointment for you. I saw consultants minion around the same time as my scan and he said I could arrange to see consultant if I wanted. Crying in the appointment/on phone will help !

littlepea - I'm having lots of movements at bedtime too. Totally random I think. DS1 made loads of movements. Hoping DC2 calmer????

smallone · 07/06/2009 20:05

Thanks Halfmum, I'm definitely not above a bit of crying! Am trying to do as much research as I can now so that I'm informed, but it mostly bums me out so I have to limit myself.

Littlepea, why don't they think you can VBAC this time?

fidelma · 07/06/2009 22:44

Great new thread.time is now really flying.

I have been very busy organising a dance show (on Thursday) and getting a new holiday cottage ready.I had 10 shopping trollies full at TKMax this week.Good fun but exhausting.Life is hectic with 3 children God help me come October!!!What was I thinking.
I get very tierd but perhaps that is my life not just the pregnancy.

My piles are sooooooooooo bad is anyone eles suffering? They are so bad that I feel like I would like a csection. And after 3 normal deliveries that seems mad but I don't feel like I can push another 10lb babe out without being totally wrecked down below.Advice please.

Ds1 aged 3 managed to get his tooth out last Monday.Injection in the chair and all.He was very good but quite sad afterwards. But lovely dentist met him in the playground the next day in order to build bridges and check up on him.All in all a good result and no general anasthetic.

Friend with cancer.Desparate.

I have cried alot. Then I close the door otherwise I would be a wreck. Her close friends are really struggling. On a positive note they are getting lots of support from friends, family and the services.

On a lovely note my SIL has just got engaged to a wonderful man.I am ssssooooooooooo HAPPY FOR THEMshe has waited for a long time/

fidelma · 07/06/2009 22:49

oh and SIL has asked children to be flower girls and a page boy.Wedding in June next year so a good incentive to get back to my normal weight in a realistic time frame.
