congratulation boob* I hope you are taking it easy.

I had an induction last time and it wasn't too bad.I am hoping for one around my due date as the baby is large.I will let you know after I have seen the consultant.
treats iorning a towel
ruby YES YES YES
calypso RUN

I did try trampolining with my last pregnancy but didn't bring anything on.I think I will just put my feet up this time and eat cake

I have been in a better mood today.Stitch and bitch did me good.

I am at a big memorial service tomorrow with lots of Ambasadors (French, Russian, Norwegian etc ) and the Duke of Gloucester. (who ever he is)It is for some Submarines that were lost during the war. Some of the boats are still classified as 'on patrol'I think I may cry alot.DHs company had to put some public art into one of there sites. So the art is of the submarines, which when the sun hits it the shadows appear in the water. (Dundee docks)
Stupidly didn't work out what to wear until tonight.Luckly DD1 pulled lots of things out and although in black I look OK (for someone who is about to give birth to a giant !!!)

Enjoying hearing everyones news.Keep well.

Mossop · 16/09/2009 21:36

Congratulations theboob
Sorry to hear that the birth didn't go as you'd hoped. Luckily you're home safe and sound with your baby. I hope all is going well and that you're making a good recovery.

princessmel · 16/09/2009 21:45

Congrats the boob!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read all the updates but don't have the energy for a long post.
Have felt very breathless for the last few days and have been very stressed today.
It's a long boring story involving me waiting in everyday this week (and tomorrow) for bunkbeds, mattresses and replacement mattresses to be delivered. They sent the wrong ones...and are not refunding/reinbursing me as we openeded the packaging before we realised they were the wrong size

Plus have had teary, tired children. They were not allowed to watch tv all day today and both had meltdowns when they arrived home (shattered) from nursery and school...but I wont go back on my word.

HT I really think you will be next. Take care and rest.

Still having lots of BH. Loads of discharge still too. (tmi) Feel wet a lot of the time.

Hope you're all ok.

35 weeks today

Hi just joining in this discussion - have been looking for the october list for ages and only just found it.

Bit scary to read of one birth already! I'm due on the 8th and really don't want the baby to come early. I have some builders working on the attic and the new stairs will be boxed in through the corner of the baby's room. Unfortunately they have not been for 2 days and I'm worried the room won't be ready in time. Can see me carrying baby in one hand whilst trying to move furniture etc., lol.

I am suffering from insomnia due to pains in pelvis and upper stomach area. Anyone else have this?

devilsadvocaat · 17/09/2009 07:38

hi saraheb, welcome.
yes i have pains in my pelvis, they seem so much worse at night although i'm noticing that when i'm walking my hips are starting to feel like they're popping out of their sockets. not nice! not noticed any upper stomach pains tho. are they like tightenings?

is this your first?

rubyslippers · 17/09/2009 07:42

hi sarah - welcome ... there are lots of lovely ladies here. I can't sleep either - i have SPD so pelvic pain is awful ...

theboob - Congratulations on the birth of your DD. Am so sorry to hear it wasn't how you wanted it to go, but hope you will be more comfortable at home and you are having a lovely babymoon now

Swaddling is fab - DS loved it. I used to do it really firmly and when he was tiny it was so good and getting him to sleep

i think i must have the MOST active baby ever. Yesterday he was all the way over to the left and after around 2 - 3 hours of movements last night he had shifted all the way round to the right!

anyone else have a very active one?

princess - grrrr at your bed saga. How annoying. Not surprised you feel stressed out

hope everyone else has a good day

Sparklytwinkletoes · 17/09/2009 07:49

Morning all.

TheBoob, so sorry to hear your experience wasn't as you would have hoped. Hope that you and your beautifully names little girl are having a good 'babymoon' together, with lots of cuddles to replace bad memories with.

I think last night was officially the WORST nights sleep I've ever had. I had contractions for about an hour and a half, which were definitely stronger than the normal BHs, and more painful - sort of spreading round to my lower back and giving what I imagine is the classic 'period pain' type feeling. They eventually subsided some time after 1 so I slept for a bit, but then DS woke me up coughing, so I went and gave him some medicine, then I couldn't stop weeing, couldn't get comfortable, couldn't sleep etc and if i did get comfortable, i'd only have to get up and go and wee again...

Consultant appointment this afternoon, so hopefully we'll be making a plan. I'm sure I can't do this for another three weeks (till due date) nevermind a possible further two weeks.

Right, got to go and eat - again! Then will probably crawl back into bed just to make sure that I'm 100% nocturnal by the time this one arrives .

Sparklytwinkletoes · 17/09/2009 07:51

oops 'named little girl, not names!

x-posted there ruby, my LO is very fidgety too, another reason for not being able to get comfortable last night. I keep worrying that I'm squashing it in some way - not sure if that's possible though, or if it would just kind of float / fidget out of the way?

saraheb · 17/09/2009 08:30

Thanks Ruby and Devils for your replies. I have been making my way through the posts since the beginning of the month to try to catch up with the posts.

Sounds like more than one of us has been making alterations/ decorating.

Bit worried by the amount of things some people have packed compared to my bare bag. Might have to add a few dozen more things :-) .

Devils - The pain is a constant one right at the top. Am wondering if the baby is just really long and pressing there. Head was not engaged at last appointment although baby is head down but laying back to back. Have put most of the pelvic pain down to that but am wondering if it is SPD.

Seems like we are all headin gfor the countdown whether we are ready or not!

theboob · 17/09/2009 08:31

thank you for all the congratulations everyone
the induction was fine, only 1 gel and a good labour, but position of the baby's head changed and instead of her chin being on her cheast for delivery her head was tilted back causing her to become stuck, they confined me to the bed and the pain became unbearable, I knew something was wrong but the midwife's would not liesten to me, after much shouting from me and baby having cord compresion the consultant was called , he felt her head but was unable to move it, his registra then put on the vontuse cap where she slipped and lost suction causing me 2nd degree tear's in the process , she was eventually born but another mistake caused by the registra caused her cord to explode blood all over the delivery suite , I belive if they allowed me to continue to stand up her head would have come down fine, It was all a big shock , i'm still quiet sore and lost alot of blood but on the mend now.......I hope nobody get's worried by my experience it was just a one off as all my other labours were fine and Madison is my smallest baby
she is feeding well and is a very good baby, my milk is coming in today so feeding will become easier for us both, I will catch up soon on all your news but i hope everyone is well x x

saraheb · 17/09/2009 08:53

hi theboob - sorry to hear of your experience but glad you are both ok.

Madison is such a lovely name!

smallone · 17/09/2009 08:55

Morning all, Congratulations theboob I hope you're recovering well and Madison is being kind to you!

Thanks for all your kind words. Its starting to sink in a bit now. I just wish I knew what the plan was but this has just added more uncertainty. There are so many unknowns its hard to know what is for the best. I'm hoping that my reflexologist will start induction techniques for me next week 37+4 and I'll start on all the natural induction methods too. Cons said that if I've not gone into labour by due date they'll look at gentle induction but doesn't want to risk anything too strong that could rupture my scar or leave me for the baby to get even bigger.

So I've gone from being convinced that I'll go overdue to being desperate not to!

Welcome Saraheb, my pelvis is wrecked now too. I have constant bruised feeling over pubic bone. Pain in my hips and a really nasty grindy/clunk in the back. I blame the hormones! It is better if I sleep on my side with the top leg resting on a pillow. This might help your bump pain too, It might need support when you're lying down.

My baby is very active, so much so that I can't really work out what position its in. Need to try and get it settled down into the right position but it just wants to play!

saraheb · 17/09/2009 09:08

hi smallone - thanks for your message.

I am already trying the lying on left side with a pillow. Just lifting my leg high enough to get into bed is a struggle and you should see how long it takes me to get into position when I do get into bed. My DH has finally started to help. He moves covers out of the way and covers me after I lumber into position. Don't remember it being like this the first time round but that was just over 10 years ago now so think I have forgotten.

Midwife told me last week that this will be a big baby and was surprised cons had not planned a growth scan. She was suggesting I be induced early and I was wholly against the idea. Now it seems like a good idea though even though we are NOT ready - house is in chaos - builders in evidence everywhere - but even so I am beginning to feel like I can cope with that if only the pain will go away!

My baby is active too - one of the things that wakes me up - it just seems to know where to press on to give most pain. I'm convinced it must be a boy!

saraheb · 17/09/2009 12:22

Hi all, just wanted to give an update after going to the midwife this morning.

She has confirmed the pelvic pain is SPD so am pleased it is nothing else more worrying. The upper pain is just the size of the baby and how it is lying.

At first she said I measured 42 as a fundal length. I nearly died and repeated what she had said in a bit of a daze(37 weeks today). Then she paused and said no, sorry 38. Quite a difference!!!

She has suggested that the cons might do a sweep next wed at appointment to prevent me going over my date. This seems quite early and I am wondering what the rush is - although with this pain I don't think I would be so bothered now. Everything had been gonig so swimmingly until now as well.

SassJ · 17/09/2009 13:00

Hey everyone, not posted for ages, but been following everyone daily.

Seems like we're all feeling a bit uncomfortable / nervous / excited - to varying degrees. All normal I guess, but with all the hormones rushing around I have really noticed how the "proffessionals" can have a huge impact on our confidence levels with what they flipantly say/do during antenatal appointments. Very difficult to let stuff just go over your head with just a few weeks to go - arghh!

Anyhoo, really wanted to say well done and congrats to you THEBOOB. I'm so sorry that you had such a traumatic 2nd stage - it's such an unnecessary shame. It sounds like the consultant should have realised the Registrar couldn't hack it and taken over. What a load of asses. I'm sorry that they mucked up the experience for you, and I hope your recovery is super-speedy.

Big wave to everyone else, and welcome to you Sarah. Here's to problem-free final weeks to everyone x

Treats · 17/09/2009 13:03

theboob - congratulations!!! So pleased to hear about the safe arrival of Madison Rose (lovely, lovely name!) Sorry to hear that it didn't go quite according to plan but your post sounds as though you're feeling quite positive now. I hope you can settle down and enjoy your baby and put any trauma behind you. Wishing you all the best for the next few weeks.

Calypso - I was there! And I didn't mean to hide! Perfectly happy to meet up in RL and will email you later. I was looking out for you too and figured that you must have been one of two ladies at the far end of the room from me (I was close to the door) as they were both expecting in October. I didn't remember that you had asthma (and can't remember which lady mentioned it now - it was a big class last week). I did remember that you worked in archaeology, but that didn't help much!!! I've done all my sessions now so won't be there any more, but would love to meet up for cofee and cake some time. If I email you on the address in the post, will it still get to you if you're now on maternity leave?

BTW - was really to think that some of our fellow yoga ladies are expecting in March 2010!! That seems such a long time away. It really brought home to me how imminent this arrival is.........

Welcome saraheb. Glad that your concerns have been put to rest. I suppose that your MW recommended an early induction to put an end to your SPD suffering?

I had a mw appointment yesterday. they've FINALLY given me a proper copy of the maternity notes book. I've had a photocopy up till now, but didn't realise how much information was missing. Or what I should have been able to expect at each appointment that never materialised - I didn't have a disucssion about where I wanted to give birth for example, and never received the NHS book about pregnancy. I'm a bit that I've missed out on potentially vital information, but am counting my blessings that I've had such an easy pregnancy so no harm's been done. They didn't see me until an hour after my appointment time, and it was yet another new midwife - the fourth in four visits. Fortunately, nothing interesting to report......

HappyTangerine · 17/09/2009 13:07

Hi all

princessmel-God I wish you were right about me being next. I miss my ankles. And my sense of balance. And sleep! And my short term memory. I sympathise with your bed saga-am going through something similar with a sofa at the moment. Ordered 1st August, was supposed to be here by 20th August. Then 28th August. Nothing. I waited for 48 minutes on the phone to cs to be told a new "possible" delivery date of 25 September and that they are making automated calls to customers but if someone dares to be out, they aren't leaving messages. Words fail me.

Saraheb welcome , glad your appointment went well although sorry to hear asbout the SPD. I've got a particularly long baby as well-at 4D scan the doctor remeasured his legs 3 times then looked at DH and said he appears to have his father's feet!(they are massive)

theboob-your experience sounds like a right ordeal, so glad everything worked out well in the end. Glad Madison is feeding well, get lots of rest.

Sparklysorry about the rotten night's sleep . Hope tonight is better and your appointment goes well, will check back for an update later.

ruby oh yes, I have a particularly active little wriggler. Every night I struggle to get to sleep and generally its a miracle if I can get to sleep by 3am. I can't remember when I last had a full night's sleep

LittleMissBliss thanks for the link. at yoy testing it on teddy bear-I've borrowed one of my neice's dolls and have been testing out my slings!Found some good hypnobirthing vids on youtube as well and its helping to pull things together for me.

I didn't go to bed last night. At all. Had this urge to cook and wound up making a stash of veggie/vegan mains - Chilli, Moroccan filo pie, Hungarian Goulash, an Ethiopian spicy stew, Cawl(weslsh stew) and some soups. DH woke up at 6am because the cooking smells were making him hungry so he had fun sampling everything. Need to post a letter so am about to attempt wallking round the corner again and hope I don't have a repeat of Monday's pain!

twinklegreen · 17/09/2009 13:27

HT can you come to my house and cook me lots of those yummy sounding veggie meals! (or you could send me the recipes... I suppose I could do them for myself!)

twinklegreen · 17/09/2009 13:31

Also I feel like I'm the only person in the 'big' baby camp who is going to be 'allowed' to go overdue, I'm only scheduled for induction at 40 +12/14... why me?

LittleMissBliss · 17/09/2009 13:59

HT I'm a veggie too and it all sounds delish, i'm not that adventurous when it comes to cooking but just love spicy foods.

I'm having a crazy cleaning day, poor ds he's been very good at entertaining himself and has been very good today. I just feel really stressed and nothing seems to be clean or tidy ENOUGH. I feel really irational....

Theboob glad feeding is going well, i really enjoyed feeding ds as a newborn, loved the snuggling and bonding. It became a bit of pain as he got older as he was a big fidget! I hope feeding goes well with this ds.

sarah Its exciting to think you may be having your baby next week if your sweep goes ahead! Sorry to hear you are in so much pain.

sammysam · 17/09/2009 14:35

Congratulations Boob! I'm sorry to hear they made so many mistakes but Madison Rose is here safe and sound now
I can't believe that'll be the rest of us not too soon! I'm 38+4 today

Had to skim read all the posts as I'm supposed to be trying to have a quick nap before I collect dd from pre-school. Had hardly any sleep last night after a very busy day and i'm absolutely knackered. DD coughed so much last night she was sick everywhere-had to completely strip the bed and give her a bath/wash her hair. She was very distressed.

welcome sarah!

Yay no more breech babies!

I'm so uncomfy now-sorry so many of us are! Not long to go!

Still don't feel ready. Like LMB I just can't get the house sorted and tidy-no matter what I do It is really stressing me out and causing me to lose it.

Mum and i made a liner for the moses basket last night so that is one more thing done!

Bit pissed off about the birth pool we won on ebay-turns out the woman bought it in 2006(syas the delivery date on the box) She said it wasn't used but seeing as the liner wasn't there and she has an almost 3yr old daugter and a 5wk old i'm fairly sure she used it for at least one of them. Plus since it is so old they have now changed the design so it now has a seat (what I was after) I just hope the new liner we bought will still fit it..... I suppose we didn't ask how old it was.....

I'm sure it'll be fine. Just one more thing bothering me. That and trying to sort out the caterers for the wedding, not having looked at baby names properly yet, house not being ready, not being able to remember about birth and not read anything yet etc etc etc Eveb though i'm in a lot of pain and generally uncomfy I want it to be late so we have more of a chance of being ready

Can't remember anything else,
Take care everyone x x x

ronniemummy · 17/09/2009 15:45

Hello! I have not posted since the early days of pregnancy but have been reading posts every day for the last few weeks.

I too have a breech baby at 34 weeks + 4 days. I am absolutely terrified of having a C section so have decided to book in for some Reflexology sessions before my 36 weeks scan. Has anyone had any success with this method, or tried anything else that worked? My midwife suggested crawing on hands and knees- like I have the energy!!!

I am feeling so fed up about the prospect of having a breech baby...help!

Plus point thoug, I finish work on Tuesday!!! YAAY!!

CalypsoFlame · 17/09/2009 16:14

boob I'm sorry that the birth was so stressful and unhappy. I wish you all the best in making a very speedy recovery and a big kiss and cuddle for Madison Rose X
ps: please feel free to post any photos if you are happy to do so, would love to have a see tiny new baby pictures to get very emotional encouraged by

treats haha we may even have sat next to each other and had a chat Yes my uni email will continue to work whilst I'm off, and I'll reply through my more normal yahoo account. If you could put yoga or mumsnet in the subject I can at least find it if it gets siphoned into my spam box!

ronniemummie hope the baby turns soon

HT gah your food sounds SCRUMPTIOUS! what a wonderful cook you must be, yummy

sarah welcome to the thread

And hello and hugs to everyone, gosh I'm uncomfortable too; aqua-natal was really tough with this hard bump!

AND YAY I'M OFF WORK {does the happy dance}

devilsadvocaat · 17/09/2009 16:32

exploding placenta?! jeez. i've never heard of that before. sounds messy.

saraheb i measured 43 weeks at my 36 week check up. i have a growth scan next week and am feeling a little apprehensive!

HT please can we have the recipe for eth spicy stew? sounds yummy.

did loads of walking again today, feel really tired again. have been on a real sugar fix the last few days. craving sweeties which is not my usual choice of treat. last night i put a bag of sweets in the kitchen away from ds. after i put him to bed i couldn't remember where i'd put them and i was like a mad woman tearing apart my house looking for them. found them eventually on ds' snack shelf in a cupboard(why i put them there i don't know) and scoffed the lot.

ronniemummy* still plenty of time for baby to turn. get scrubbing those floors!

also, do you need to give you dh/dp's work a matb1 form so they can have paternity leave? if so i'd better get on the case!

Sugarkane · 17/09/2009 17:13

Hi everyone hope you dont mind if I moan but I really need to. Went to the midwife a few days ago and was measured 44 weeks at 36, so have a scan next week. (So can I join the big baby club please).

SPD and sciatica at a all time worse, but DP has been great, thank god. Its also making sleeping hard, but I think most of us are feeling the same at the min.

Midwife told me off as I hadnt packed my hospital bag yet, but I cant bring myself to do it as when I had DD I only packed when I was 12 days overdue and went into labour the next day, unfortunatly I now have it in my head I will go into labour when I pack it. Yes I know this is sooooooooo not right but its my pg brain going into overdrive I think.

Finally ive turned into the mad pg lady about town as I have to take my hot water bottle everywhere with me to keep my nipples warm. (Its the only thing that stops my raynaud's).

Ok moan over, sorry if none of my ranting makes sense, im typing in a rush.

Welcome saraheb, welcome back ronniemummy. Big big congrats to boob
