Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fidelma · 21/06/2009 21:28

SammysamI reversed into DH pride and joy (YES HIS CAR!!!!)last week.I was taking the girls to school and they were arguing over whos turn it was in the front Radio 2 was playing at full volume or was it U2 and I was trying to sort out whos turn. All the car sensors were beeping and DH (who was opening the gates for me ) was waving his arms around trying to get me to stop when I reversed into his car.He has only just forgiven me.Perhaps we should walk from now on.I feel for you also but you are not alone !!!!!!

We have had a lovely weekend away but with 3 children it is full on.Almost not worth it for a weekend. You have to take so much stuff.I'm looking forward to Monday for a rest!!!(if only)

I do feel heavily pregnant now.I am sleeping with a pillow between my legs and under my bump.I can't walk very fast.I also have about 2, 20min naps a day.And lots of little meals (5or 6 every day)Roll on October.

Hattie05 · 21/06/2009 22:48

Hello all, I havn't been around for a long time and missed all your stories!

With working f/time with this one, i just don't have the energy to come on pc in the evenings. I've been fine although a lot of cramps which i think may be constipation.

Very excited as we have scan on Tues, i know most of you have probably had yours already!! I just hope all is ok, then i can rest assured and enjoy the holiday to Zante we have booked for the end of July.

Sammysam so sorry to hear about your bump in the car! must have been terrible. I know when i got hit by a lorry i sat and sobbed for ages and then made dp come and pick me up as was too scared to drive. You did well driving the 40mins home!

Hope the rest of you are all ok, i'm off to catch up with the rest of the thread now xx

sammysam · 22/06/2009 08:28

Thank you everyone! I feel a bit better about it now-although dp is starting to take the piss now...... Glad to hear that i'm not on my own (but not glad that others have done it iyswim!!!?)

Good luck to all those with scans this week-is this the last of them?

I'm feeling v.pg as well. Very tired, sick, heartburn, breathless, weeing more often, uncomfy etc etc

Ok so I realised the other day that I have been doing NO pelvic floors I forgot (last time they told me to and at antinatal I had it drummed into me) no one has mentioned them at all!!! Anyone else the same or have I just been stupid?!! Really should make an effort to do loads but they are already difficult with the weight of the baby

Saw my friend on sat who is due in 5wks. She is quite worried as she has been told the baby is small and she is measuring small. She hasn't grown for the last couple of weeks and is measuring 30 wks instead of 35. Her dd was small (6lbs5 i think) so she wasn't too worried but they said that if at her next scan nothing has changed then she'll have to stay in and have the baby She does look small-we look about the same but I could just be big?! Very worrying though. Midwife said the same as me though-maybe she just grows small babies! She also goes to the gym every day....

Mehim-great news about your dps house-almost there now

I'm really wanting to nest but being so tired and with dd around and needing to get dp's arse into gear to do the conservatory before I can do anything is really hampering my efforts!!! I keep thinking of all the things I want/need to do-it is surprisingly big considering we have everything already!!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend-looks like this week is going to be nice

smallone · 22/06/2009 09:09

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope you've all had good weekends. I've done masses too much yesterday and am now paying the price - feels like my pelvis is broken! Still on a mass nesting frenzy so yesterday took the seat cover off dd's pushchair and washed it, then went to the garden centre, and came back and planted some more peppers, cleaned the bathroom and hoovered all the cobwebs throughout, DH came back from the tip with DD asleep in the car, so as we had no pushchair to move her into, we left her in the car and cleaned the car! Then when she woke up we did the inside and I took her carseat apart and cleaned that (MASSIVE YUK! it was like the bottom of a bird cage!) Then DH had a friend round last night for a bbq and while they were cooking I cleaned out and reorganised my kitchen drawers and cupboard under the sink. I blame having no TV! If this cleaning urge gets any worse I may need sedating!

Am a bit worried reading your posts that I may crash my car! Will have to be extra cautious! Although I'm just hoping I can drive for as long as poss with this pregnancy. With dd I had to stop at 36wks coz my bump was wedging against the steering wheel ( I am only 5'1 so need to be quite close!) We've got a different car this time so I'm hoping I'll last a bit longer with this one!

smallone · 22/06/2009 09:12

Forgot to say, I'm also rubbish at doing pelvic floor, I do them if I'm reminded (doing them now!) but otherwise I just don't think about it! Maybe we should have a pelvic floor monitor on here!

twinklegreen · 22/06/2009 10:41

I'm also doing pelvic floor exercises now, thanks for reminding me!! I really must remember as this is my third baby in four years my PF is pretty knackered anyway!

Haven't been on for a while, I do read everyone's posts daily just haven't had the energy to write anything. Just found out last week that dd (3 years old) has to have an operation on her skull, which is being done by a team of neurosurgeons(which sounds quite scary to me!!!) although they're not actually doing anything to her brain. The operation is quite straight forward but I'm still worrying about the general anasthetic. They are also going to have to shave off all her beautiful blond hair and she's going to be severely bruised by it all (they've said she will have two black eyes and won't be able to open them for a few days). So just waiting to hear a date at the moment they have said it will be done in the next few weeks and have assured me that it will have definately been done by September (as that's when I'm due). Just want to get it over with now.

Anyone else feel like they are carrying really low? I'm needing the loo constantly. Carried dd low and it was a nightmare in the last few weeks literally needed to go every 15 mins, ds I carried high so had no trouble even at the end (especially as he didn't ever engage until birth) this one (dd2) is the lowest yet.

Anyway, sorry to hear about all the car accidents/sickness/illness etc, isn't this meant to be the trimester when we all feel fantastic and bloom!

Just read it back and apologies for such a 'me' post.

princessmel · 22/06/2009 10:45

twinklegreen that sounds so shocking for you and dd! I truely hope she's ok.

littlepea72 · 22/06/2009 13:25

Had to call my MW today, as cant see doctor for another 3 weeks! Things started getting really bad, and im starting to get a bit worried. Between the headaches, sickness & these strange feelings im getting when i do alot or even just walk up the stairs, i dont have a way of saying what the feelings are, but i have to lie down, be sick and yes...i cry! Even at night it gets bad, im up every 2 hrs, and have to come downstairs to sit at 4am onwards. So the MW wants to see me tomorrow for a checkup. She says it sounds like a condition to do with hormones, it can cause your pelvis to really soften, but if too much hormones are released then it causes all the joints to soften. This is what she thinks is happening. I will be given a special belt, and put on alot of bed rest if it is. All this and moving house next week! On the bright side, at least i will know what it is & and deal with it a bit better. As my DH has been calling me a lazy cow, i just cant do much housework, nothing to do with being lazy! Roll on tomorrow.

Twinklegreen...i hope all is well, it sounds like a nightmare! I remember when my little sister was really young she needed an eye op, they had to remove her eye to work in the back of it. She had the most beautiful long blonde hair that needed shaved off....my mum cut it up every week so it wasnt such a shock to her or to us. Let us know how it all goes. xx

Smallone you are making me tired just reading your post....slow down woman!!!

Princessmel.....need i say anymore???? LOL....

Hope everyone else is doing well....I have had my moan & feeling better for it! xxx

BellaCullen · 22/06/2009 14:47

littlepea72 you poor thing I hope the MW can help you and try and get some rest.

Twinklegreen your poor dd it sounds scary its horrible when your child is in hospital,dd was in hospital last year when her chickenpox got infected on her foot.

princessmel are you ever going to tell us what you`re having. Please!

Feeling sick on and off again too had dps family round for bbq yesterday was good even though couldnt be bothered about it in beginning as just wanted to rest and chill.
25+3 getting closer to due date going so quickly.X

smallone · 22/06/2009 15:36

Yey, my friend is in labour today! She's three weeks early but her 12wk scan put her back 3wks so I guess modern technology doesn't always know best!

KKKKaty · 22/06/2009 18:05

Littlepea - sorry to hear that you're feeling so grotty.

Twinklegreen - also sorry to hear that your DD needs an op - it must be very worrying for you.

We've had some very very good news this afternoon - DH has passed his exam which means that he never never has to take another exam ever - which is fab news since his exams have been on and off dominating our lives for the past few years. He just has three more years of training left and then he can apply for consultant positions! Hurrah! It has been especially tense because if he didn't pass this time he'd have to start studying in October to retake in December which of course would NOT have been ideal in so many ways!

So yaaaaayyyyy! Am very happy. And junior is happy too - lots of kicks in the belly at the moment!

princessmel · 22/06/2009 19:51

Ok ok ok!! I have told some RL people now so I will tell you guys!!

We are having a

BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it will be really lovely for ds. I was worried that if it was a girl he might feel left out, not that he would've been atall. But the 2 youngest would have been grouped together as 'the girls' etc...
Sharing wont be as easy , in years to come, as the 2 with the biggest gap will be sharing. For now, ds and dd will share and baby will go into dd's pink room . We probably wont change it as she will be back in there, once baby is sleeping well enough to share with ds. Boys together.

I had a little 'moment' when I thought 'oh I wont be able to buy gorgeous, girly, pink stuff anymore' etc etc so I bought dd some Lelli Kellys to make up for it! She was so pleased with them! Although I am 1 million percent in love with my son ,I am so glad to have my girl. There are no girls in our family, so she is very rare! dd was the first girl to be born since I was born!! All the cousins are boys etc...this boy was no surprise to our families!!

KKKaty great about dh's exmas, What a relief.

Littlepea How horrible for you. I hope it is sorted soon and you feel better.

OP posts:
princessmel · 22/06/2009 19:51

Bums my bold didn't work!!!

OP posts:
sammysam · 22/06/2009 20:19

Congrats Princessmel!

KKKaty-well done to your dh!!!

Littlepea-I hope you feel better soon-sounds really nasty

Twinklegreen-your poor dd sounds like a really nasty op I can't imagine how awful it'd be if my dd had to have the same thing-and it would be a nightmare too! I had to have an eye op when I was 3 (similar to littlepeas sister-eye ball out etc) and I remember it very clearly-especially being very upset when I couldn't open my eyes. But I also remember the pressies clearly as well!!! I hope it goes well and it happens sooner rather than later.

I'm so knackered at the moment. Dp was in shock when he saw me undressing tonight-he thinks my bump as grown loads since last night-which might explain the tiredness!? I'm carrying very low as well-I didn't at this point with dd. It is a good couple of inches lower than it was with dd. I think it makes it look like it is ready to drop! Makes it quite uncomfortable generally and i'm getting a lot of very low down kicks (some even feel like they are kicking out!!!)

I need to try and look online now for the bridesmaids jewelery for my sisters wedding-for some reason it is my job-any ideas where to look?

Hope everyone is ok x x x

HumphreysCorner · 22/06/2009 20:23

Ah princessmel-congrats finally now we know.

I am sorry some of you feel so poorly, after suffering hell for 10 days I am so grateful to be back to normal.

KKKKaty-well done to your DH. You must celebrate.

smallone-ooh, let us know how your friend is doing.

twinklegreen-why does she need such a delicate operation? Hope it happens very soon so she can be recovered before the baby is born.

sammysam-hope your friend is OK. Have heard lots of stories about the baby being too small but they are an average weight when delivered.

Big wave to everyone else.

HC

peachespaige · 22/06/2009 20:30

Hi all.
Im sorry I havent been able to read all posts yet so I hope everyone is feeling ok and happy.
We got back from Grand Canaria last Tuesday. Flights were cancelled on the way back so we had an extra night there, then they were delayed the next day!!!
The computer blew up the day we left arghhh.
We just bought a Kitten, so,so,so cute.
Well my scan was fine, babys great but is lying low and probably wont move up? Its very uncomfortable but on the positive its moving around nicely .
Well thats all for now, I will try and catch up with all your news.

mrsgamp · 23/06/2009 06:36

twinklegreen I just want to say that I have some idea of what you're going through with your DD. I also have a DD,3 - and a DS,20 months, incidently! - and was told recently that she has a rare congenital condition that needed surgery. The operation - in her neck - would be quite complicated and involve a stay in hospital and a drain....and, obviously, recovery time, pain, scar etc. I was absolutely distraught and could think of nothing else between our original appointment and the one we had with the surgeon just last week. Part of my distress was augmented by the fact that my DD has some communication difficulties and that, other than a huge lump in her neck (that she's grown rather proud of!) she has no symptoms - it's all about what might happen if her condition is left. I was lucky enough that the surgeon agreed to 'suck it and see' for the time being. It is almost certain that she will require an operation at some point and I am taking a risk in leaving her, but I feel it's the right decision for us at this time. If it's any consolation, other parents that I know whose young children have been through surgery all seem to feel they coped with it pretty well (the children, I mean, not necessarily the parents!!) It sounds as though the time immediately after surgery when they're coming out of anasthetic and often confused is one of the worst times and, of course, that's over quite soon.

I wish you all the best...

princessmel · 23/06/2009 08:09

mrsgamp sorry to hear about your dd too.

I agree with what you say about the general anasthetic. Ds had one last June as he broke his arm and had to have it re set. When he woke up he was very angry for a while, it was strange. We thought he'd be sad or sleepy or clingy. But he was just really grumpy!
Don't know if this is helping much..sorry! What I'm trying to say is that , this seemed to be the worst part of it.

Off this subject quickly and back to bumps and today mine feels HUGE!!!!! It really could pass as a 30 week bump imo.

I'm going to get MW to measure it on thursday.....

OP posts:
twinklegreen · 23/06/2009 08:16

Hi everyone

Thanks for all the messages, I'm feeling quite calm about it all at the moment, which I'm sure will go out of the window when I finally get 'the call'! Hopefully they will not completely shave her head, just the front bit to about half way back, so she's going to have a lovely mullet look when it starts to grow back!

sammysam it's interesting that you can remember the op you had at three, I was having a discussion with dh last night of whether she would, he was sure that she will be too young to remember. We'll see I suppose, I've already ordered a good supply of sticker books etc so she should have a good supply of presents coming her way post-op.

mrsgamp I think I have read your thread on the childrens health topic. It is quite similar to my situation. My dd has a bone cyst on her frontal bone, it's essentially the same as a normal cyst however it forms as a pocket of fluid inside the actual bone. It is harmless, the only thing is that it weakens the bone and makes it more prone to fracture, and it will continue to grow. They are going to remove it because she is so young and as it gets bigger it may start to press on her brain and restrict blood vessels, It's alot more of a straightforward proceedure to do it now rather that wait till later. Hope everything goes ok with you dd too

littlepea that sound horrible, hope the support belt helps a little.

princessmel Thankyou so much for telling us, the suspense was killing me! Congrat on your little boy

kkkaty well done to your dh.

LittleMissBliss · 23/06/2009 09:40

Morning all!

Haven't been on for ages, just trying to sort out moving but we have now decided to take our house off the market.

DP has since re-painted the front room, laid some lovely laminate which ds loves as his favourite toys are cars and the floor is fantastic for racing on. He's re-tiling the kitchen this weekend and we'll eventually re-do the kitchen and bathroom over time. I'm far more relaxed now that we don't have to move. The whole thing was putting me on edge. We are just going to turn the computer room into ds2's room as we both have laptops now. We'll just need to work out a way for storing the printer and all the paperwork.

I am carrying really low down and need to wee allot! I'm night waking to wee too which is such a pain 14+ weeks until due date. But i am thinking of it just being three months as ds was early.

Sorry a bit of a me, me post but my brain is too frazzled to reply properly.

fidelma · 23/06/2009 22:47

twinklegreensorry to hear that your DD needs to have a little op.I am sure all will be fine.good to get it over with.Keep us posted.

princessmel congrats on your little boy

Hot Hot Hot.I am running around sorting out holiday cottages.(I am meant to be a sahm!!!!)

It is the end of term for the children next week so we are flat out with them.Sports day (a milatry (SP?) opperation at our school)talent show (costumes needed),come and see my classroom day, pipeband displays,BBQ etc etc.DD1 has to be at school at 8am for rehersals all this week.I need it all to stop.Roll on the holidays with PJs on until noon!

On a lovely note it is our 10th wedding anniversary on Friday and we are going to Sky for the weekend.Grandma and sil are looking after the children.

25 weeks today

Treats · 24/06/2009 15:29

I'm 25 weeks today too!! It feels - simultaneously - as if the birth is still ages away, and as if it's hardly any time. 15 week is an odd timescal to get your head round. I bet the time will drag on, but will feel like it's gone in a flash once the baby's here......

LMB - glad that you don't have the stress of a house move and househunting to deal with. Your DH sounds really handy!! Mine is just getting round to painting the bathroom after three months.

Fidelma - thanks for the snapshot of what parenting is actually like!! As a first time mum, I still think it's going to be all sitting in a sundrenched rocking chair, while the baby (who doesn't actually get any bigger, right?) slumbers peacefully beside me in a beautifully arrayed crib. Are you telling me that it won't really be like this?

Have a great time in Skye anyway - sounds like you need the break.

twinklegreen - I can only wish you all the best and keep my fingers crossed for you. You sound incredibly brave and I'm glad that your daughter has you for a role model.

I'm starting to feel really ungainly - I have to take it very slowly every time I sit down or stand up so that I don't pull any muscles and I make involuntary grunting noises every time I bend over. Not very dignified .

theboob · 24/06/2009 16:02

fidelma · 24/06/2009 19:24
