I have started the new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissBliss · 12/09/2009 21:16

Oh god [groan] just read my post and it doesn't make sense again.....

I'm doing this in real life too.
I trail off at the end of sentences and forget really simple words and generally get things all muddled up.

That should have read....

Good luck theboob wishing you a lovely pain free chilled labour can't wait to here about your little girl!

I was just thinking you will have the honour of naming the postnatal thread!

Last day at work tomorrow! woohoo

sammysam · 12/09/2009 21:19

I just can't keep up

GOOD LUCK BOOB! How exciting!

I've been so busy all day-I am really feeling the pressure to get everything ready now-have managed to sort quite a lot today including picking up the birth pool (which is sitting in the lounge!) and washing the baby car seat and dd's car seat, and getting rid of loads of clutter. Still loads to do. Dp refused to go up into the loft today as the weather was so nice so we still don't have evrything down. Now he has gone out.

I've been having loads of BH's and period type pains and feel like I have loads of adrenelin (sp?) running through me. I also have a very strange feeling. It CAN'T happen now. Not with dp out drinking and us not quite ready!!!! Plus i'm so sure i'll go a week over-or at least I was!

I wish I could remember and reply to everyone. Whoever was worried about a big baby-my friend had the exact same thing-was told her baby was 10lbs at 34wks (she is quite small) and he was only 7lbs something born 15 days early-they really can't tell-it is all a guess! So try not to worry.

I have read nothing about birth......and I can't remember anything! I haven't had any antinatal classes this time and I'm slightly worrying now. Might go and get into bed and read something-though that is likely to make me unable to sleep!!!

Just found out 2 friends are pg-so exciting! Trouble is they will be due when this baby is 8-9months-just when I was at my most broody!!! Though that is when we have the wedding, plus I really think 2 is our number!

Sorry for the ramble-I hope everyone is ok-it is feeling so real to me now

fidelma · 12/09/2009 21:28

Happytthanks for the swine flu info.DS temp is not high really and on calpol and nurofen he seems to be just a bit poorly so maybe not swine flu after all.however dh is going to sleep with him to keep an eye on him.I have got OCD washing my hands after every interaction with him.
Lovely sunny day.

But sadly didn't get out for tea because of ds. never mind. I am not great at moving about at the moment !!!!!!

Sugarkane · 12/09/2009 22:31

Wow this thread moves quick, have been keeping up everyday while not posting as nothing interesting to add really.

Just wanted to say good luck the boob.

fidelma · 13/09/2009 07:51

DS seems much better this morning so panic over.I want to have this baby and get everyone home safe and sound. Not long to go. DC have been back at school for3 weeks now and the bugs are flying around sigh.have a good day.

nameynamerson · 13/09/2009 08:02

morning everyone, thanks for the reassurance sammysam.

fidelma, ds also has a cold, he is so grumpy. it's inevitable with dh being a teacher, he brings home all the bugs at the start of the year!

still not sleeping well, am going to be like a zombie by the time this baby comes.

(devilsadvocaat)

rubyslippers · 13/09/2009 08:27

morning all

hope everyone had a (reasonably!) comfortable night

so excited to hear theboobs news today

i am kind of nesting but not really as my SPD is so bad i can feel my bones grinding

more reflexology today to turn this baby ...

have good dayd everyone

sammysam · 13/09/2009 09:11

Devils-just try not to worry-I have heard several mw's etc say that even the scans can't really say how big/small the baby is. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Forgot to say that mw on fri said she is happy about growth as I have grown since last week-which is good-plus I know this isn't a small baby!
She looked thorugh my notes and saw that my 28wk bloods weren't 'great' for iron levels. Nice to tell me now! Though I did have them checked again at my last scan and didn't hear anything back.....Anyway i'm not taking any risks and am taking Floradix and apricots!

Off to a wedding exhibition today-hopefully it'll be helpful!

Need to buy some milton and clean the birth pool, and sort out dd's room, and try and get dp up into the loft and........the list could go on!

Was on the phone to my mum last night and she has suggested she buy us a new moses basket so we can have the old one at hers, as we go up quite a lot and this time we'll have loads more stuff!! We used ours for 8 months last time and will need to do the same this time so it did get a lot of use. The thing is I think the reason we managed that was because it was a very big one. Can anyone tell me where theirs is from and if it is big? The reason I was talking about it was that it had no liner under the cotton sheet and used to wake dd up when she knocked against it so we ended up pegging terry nappies to the sides! All the new ones look like they have padded lining underneath.

I wander if the boob is in yet? So exciting!

DD also has a nasty cold Maybe not the best time of year to have a baby!!!

Have a lovely day everyone-the sun is shining

BellaCullen · 13/09/2009 12:44

Good luck theboob hope you have a quick and easy labour. Can`t wait to see some baby photos.

Been having loads of BH and felt weird yesterday sadly labour didnt start really thought it would. So of all you whove stopped work one more week to go.Am working from home as childminder, though so not quite same as others who have to go to offices.

Calypsoflame counting down hours too. Will be 38 weeks when I stop too.Hoping baby will come asap once am on maternity leave.Don`t want to waste too much of it waiting around.

Sorry to hear so many dcs got colds dd has already had one and is better now.Hope yours all get better soon.
Will be checking for news from theboob x

MeHimCatBlob · 13/09/2009 15:52

Hi all

good luck the Boob - can't beleive you're already at that stage!! I'm 34 weeks today and it still seems ages away. Also still working (another 5 weeks to go) but am finding it steadily harder as the weeks go by - my last trip to london for meeting was last week and I'm actually quite pleased I dont have to travel down again. Still, meetings in Wakefield this week but at least its only 1.5 hours each way (and I wont be driving!) although I do leave home at 05.45 which isnt so good.

I'm feeling very unorganised now having read about all your hospital bags etc - havent got further than a bag in the corner with a book and 2 nighties in it! supposed i need to start accepting reality and get on with things now

anyway, hope everyone has an uneventful week and no more breech!

Good luck to the boob and I am thinking of you lots today.

mehim I cannot believe you are working up until 39 weeks I really can't.

I finally feel like I'm starting to get somewhere at home, we are slowly but surely getting all our sorting out done. I have bought everything for my hospital bag, now I just need to actually pack it.

Had a nice chat last night with a friend who has a 16 month old. I actually started to feel excited about the birth (is my first) rather than depressed which feels good.

treats hasn't been about much lately, hope she's ok.

xx

The Boob

Hoping all went well and that you are cuddling your new baby girl.I've been thinking about you all day.

Sorry for all of us with sick children.

I can't believe that some of you are still working and commuting take care all of you.

Went for a float in the swimming pool this evening and almost did not feel pregnant the water gave me so much support. All my aches and pains went, sady now need to go to bed which is never very comfortable.

The house is always so messy by the end of the weekend. I actually cried.

However I did dig up all the veg for our Sunday dinner.(what was I thinking)
No wonder my back is killing me.I can't wait to get my body back. I even think that I would rather have stitches than all this discomfort. No wonder we don't mind giving birth !!!!

rubyslippers · 14/09/2009 07:50

morning everyone

hope all the poorly ones are on the mend

fidelma - i am feeling your pain at tidying. DS decided to get EVERY toy out yesterday ... the lounge was a tip by 9.00 am

theboob - hope you and your LO are doing well

sympathies to those still working/commuting ... take it easy

Had reflexology and moxibustion to try to turn the baby - had loads of braxton hicks and activity but didn't feel a big move ...

My scan is on Wednesday so will see what he has been up to!

have good days everyone

twinklegreen · 14/09/2009 07:58

Just checking in for news of theboob Hope everything went well yesterday

Well I made it safely back from Newport without going into labour (good job really as I forgot to take my hospital bag!) Now safely back in Yorkshire so this LO can come anytime it wants now!

I'm 38 weeks today (38+5 based on my dates) so really counting down now. I'm off to have acupunture this morning, decided to spend some of my HIP grant on a few sessions leading up to the birth. Hopefully it may get things moving a bit, I really can't face going 14 days overdue this time.

twinklegreen · 14/09/2009 08:06

oooh forgot to say devils I had a 'huge' baby last time (10lb6 boy)and he was a dream to give birth to 2hr50 labour with just TENs and G&A for pain relief, no stiches either. He was far easier that my 8lb4 daughter. I think 'big' babies get a bit of a bad press as it's much more to do with position etc. Try not to worry too much I don't think these measurement methods are very accurate anyway. Good luck with the scan.

smallone · 14/09/2009 09:02

Morning all,

Did tonnes in the garden yesterday. DH and I are trying to be organised about "putting the garden to bed" before the weather turns and baby gets here. So DH has done the hedge and grass and dug up the potatoes. I've harvested the last of the outdoor toms and composted the plants. DD and I spent quite alot of time on hands and knees picking catapillars off the sprouts and caulis - I reckon that must have been good for baby positioning! And I've cleaned all of DD's toys that live outside during the summer and brought them in. Definitely felt it last night tho, couldn't get comfy at all in any position. Asked DH to rub my feet and he was really narky about it. Promptly burst into tears and went to bed. He did come and rub my feet in bed and leave me to sleep, but he still hasn't appologised for being narky. But I did get to sleep 11hrs last night.

I'm dreading the competitive tiredness postbirth, I might stab him in the eye with a bottle brush!

HumphreysCorner · 14/09/2009 10:07

Can't wait to hear of news from theboob.

Full of cold here and have a sore throat. BH are dreadful, have never had them before but now understand what they are. Did the school run and found out that a sicky bug is doing the rounds. Can't cope with getting that as don't want to face labour poorly.

Off to dose up and have a cuppa.

Big wave!

Just checking in for news of theboob and an update on Breech Watch

theboob hope all went well for you, can't wait to read your update

smallone 11hrs sleep! I'm going back into the garden today if there's any hope of me sleeping that long! Did some weeding and bulb planting yesterday but my back was killing me after an hour so had to stop.

MeHimCatBob-I don't envy that commute and you have my admiration for managing it for this long. I did N West to London 3 days a week, driving down (one day on, one off, leaving at 2.30am and getting home at 9pm)for 2 years and it almost killed me..I can't imagine doing it while pregnant. Take it easy.

fidelma-glad your ds is on the mend

sammysam- glad all well with growth scan. Hope you got lots of inspiration from wedding exhibition, they used to make my head spin (and my purse hurt!)

Sorry to anyone feelong poorly and with poorly dcs, hope you feel better soon

Had midwife appt today and all is well-no sign of PE or OC. PB 140/80 so we were all happy. Baby is 3/5 to 4/5 engaged now so heading in the right direction. I'm running out of low things to paint(still banned from ladders) so starting on the garden gates later. Does anyone else feel strongly that they don't want to be far from home? Its really weird, not like me at all.

Namey/Devils-big babies tend to run in my family on my mums side and those that have them seem to have easier births. I was measuring 2-3 weeks ahead for ages and am now bang on for dates so there may still be a chance of things levelling out for you.

devilsadvocaat · 14/09/2009 14:22

twinklegreen what a whopper! i'm hoping that i'll go into labour early. haha. like i'd be so lucky. in fact i think i'll be about 5 days overdue which would be the 14th oct. anyone else wanna predict when they'll go?!

happytang i hope it evens out soon. i am quite excited about seeing lo one last time before meeting him/her

looking at our baby list, i guess there should be a few boys in the list of people who don't know.

i went into town today as ds needed some more trainers and i have loads of birthdays coming up in november. it dawned on me that i should probably try and get some of the presents now as i won't want to go shopping with a newbee and a 2yo. however, completely forgot to get the present for my friend's daughter which is at the end of THIS month! pregnancy really does ruin your brain.

my hips feel really sore from the walking but i'm determined to keep active over the next few weeks otherwise time will really drag.

have last few bits of baby clothes to iron and then that is done. just need to pack my bag.

HumphreysCorner · 14/09/2009 15:51

I am predicting earlier than the 29th September so possibly less than 2 weeks to go. Mum and dad home from hols on Wednesday so the boy can arrive anytime after that.

Will check back later.

Is anyone else feeling really down? I just feel really emotional and lethargic today. I'm probably still worn out from yesterday but can't seem to motivate myself to do anything. Can't get comfy and just want to lie in bed for the next 4 weeks. I keep thinking back nostalgically to my maternity leave with dd when I sat with my feet up and watched chic flicks, no such luck this time.

smallone · 14/09/2009 15:58

Oh and due date 11th and I think I'll go to the 17th. [feelingsorryforselfemoticon]

LittleMissBliss · 14/09/2009 16:27

Hello just thought i'd check in, really excited to hear some news from theboob or her dp. Not that mumsnet will probably be top of her priorities with a newborn and 3 dc's. (am in awe!)

Weathers has been lovely here today.

I think i have a serious Internet shopping problem! I'm having parcels arriving from e-bay every other day.......

Devilsadvocaat I'm trying to think ahead with birthdays also. I have now created a pre-pay account on moonpig (they add 25% on top of the ammount you add) as i'm rubbish with cards and remembering birthdays. They send them direct to the person the next day so that will be a lifesaver when i have two dc's. Plus it's nice sending people personalised cards!

I have ordered some personalised birth announcements (post cards) from them (as we know what we will be calling ds...well no middle name yet but hey!) So when they arrive tomo i will be adding stamps and addressing them and popping them in my hospital bag. Then al dp orl I have to do is fill in the time, date and weight and pop them in the postbox on the way home from hospital!

Which is now packed!

For me I have,

*a towel
*5 pairs of cheap pants
*1 pack of breast pads (although can't remember leaking milk until around day 3 post partum then it was like a fountain!)
*Maternity pads
*4 in 1 face wipes.
*Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion
*Nightie
*2x PJs
*hair bands
chapstickdeodorant
*breastfeeding bra
*paracetamol and arnica tablets
*straws
*socks
*slippers

Things to add on the day.

*toothbrush and paste, make-up bag, hair brush
*clothes to leave the hospital in
*i pod
*camera and video camera
*drinks and snacks
*Pillow
*dressing gown
*red book and maternity notes

For baby

*2x short sleeved vests (newborn)
*2x long sleeved vests (newborn)
*2x sleep suits (built in mitts, newborn)
*1x scratch mittens
*1x long sleeved top and trousers (like pjs)
*snow suit
*2x hats
*cotton buds
*cotton wool pads
*10 nappies
*baby nail scissors
*muslin squares
*1x baby blanket

Please can anyone let me know if i've forgotten anything please!

HC Hope you feel better soon having a cold is crumby. You'll feel like million dollars when it leaves i certaintly do! Nothing like being ill to make you appreciate being well!

MHCB I am also very impressed that you are working up until 39 weeks!

Twinklegreen I agree about big babies getting a bad press. Ds was 7lb 1oz and I tore. I did give birth lying down (i'm not sure what position he was in) But this time i am going to try and give birth with a bit of gravity on my side!

smallone Sorry you feel so rubbish. I have had quite a few days like that, but am feeling quite good at the moment. I am liking the idea of chick flick or two but sadly with ds about that isn't likely to happen! Do you have any chocolate in the house....that always seems to make me feel better when i'm down.
