Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all

Had my consultant appointment today.
They were running an hour late but luckily dh was ok to hang around.

She said it was all fine. I am 34+1 and measuring 36cm, which is nothing to worry about.

Baby not engaged but head down.

I hung all the babies clothes up in the wardrobe last night. Made me feel good that we'd got a bit more sorted out.

Hope all ok.

Princess, good news from your appt, and good to know LO is head down. I know what you mean about feeling better to get stuff sorted. I kind of feel like I'm running on caffeine or something, I could sleep at any point, but then see another job that I could 'just quickly do' and feel so pleased when I do, that it spurs me on to do another!

I've done about six loads of washing today, and still have loads of bedding left to do. I'd gotten rather behind, can you tell?! At least the weather has been fab for drying it all off in.

I managed to get access to DS' wardrobe today (its been blocked by the double bed from our spare room - I did say it was chaos here, didn't I? ) and hung all his clean washing up, rather than having it hanging around the place in random piles. I've also started putting all the washed baby clothes in the cot, as I won't have drawers to put them in till Weds next week, but again, better than spread around the house. Can't wait till the end of next week, we should be nearly all sorted by then!

Smallone, always best to get it checked, last thing you want is a water infection at this stage, and I think period type pain can be an indication - either that or you're going to pop early

Hi Newbee, sounds like you're pretty well organised. I've re-packed my labour bag again today into a bigger bag, but it still doesn't all fit - so may have to think about putting my stuff in the big bag and using a smaller one (?) for the baby. DH is going to need a parcel truck, never mind a rucksack, especially if I want my 'V' pillow as well!!

DevilsAdvocate - I think I'd be turning purple if I'd had to wait three days for a delivery from Mothercare! The general disappointment of waiting in for a non-delivery combined with the excitement of what you're actually getting must make it all very frustrating.

LMB you must have been really when you discovered how out of date your disc is! Good job you didn't get pulled! I'm not sure how far 'pregnancy brain' would get you as an excuse

nameynamerson · 10/09/2009 19:25

sparkly, i've just realised it's actually been a week since they first tried to deliver the stuff! dh said he will get it tomorrow thank god.

nameynamerson · 10/09/2009 20:11

it's devilsadvocaat btw!

sammysam · 10/09/2009 21:04

Oh my goodness-how fast has this thread moved all of a sudden?!!!

It has got me all excited! Really want to get more sorted and organised over the weekend!

Seeing the mw tomorrow so she can check growth I'm sure there won't be much change so expect she'll send me for a scan.

I'm 38wks on sunday and still haven't got the birth pool sorted. Hopefully I'll win one tomorrow or else I might be slightly screwed! No idea how long it'll take for one to be delivered otherwise! God i wish I didn't leave everything so late!

DD has had her first week at pre-school-it is going very well-no tears from her-but bucket loads from me when I've left her! She's also started her big girl swimming and dancing lessons-she is all grown up!

I'm so sorry but I can't remember all that has been said

To those naughty breech babies-TURN and do it NOW!!!

Can't wait to hear news from boob on sun/mon! When are you going in am or pm? So exciting.

I am excited now-though really trying not to think about the birth!!!

I'm sokanckered as for some reason dd has started waking twice in the night + at least an hour earlier in the morning + i'm waking for the loo and being uncomfy. At least sleep deprivation won't be such a shock

My moby wrap, baby sheepskin and changing bag have all arrived-the only new things we were getting so that feel good.

Fingers crossed I win that pool tomorrow!

I'm feeling a re-surgance of morning sickness-not that it has ever really left but feel much worse again-hoping that isn't a sign as I AM NOT READY YET!!!!
Need to go and get my grapefruit fix! Then BED!

37+5

rubyslippers · 11/09/2009 07:58

sammy - hope the growth check goes ok and really good that your DD has settled so well at pre school

sparkly - sounds like you are nesting in earnest!

princess - good news for you too

have a heamatologist appt today - having some reflexology and moxibustion over the next weekend to try to get the baby to flip before next week

Have good days all

BellaCullen · 11/09/2009 11:35

sammysam good luck with growth check and hope youll win the pool.Have the same with my dd came in around 6.30am this morning.Theyre probably trying to get as much time with us as possible. Also feeling nauseous again so can`t wait for baby to come out 37weeks today and still one week left to work.

Devils how annoying that they didn`t deliver your stuff,at least DH will be able to pick it up.

Decided to walk to library after school yesterday would normally have taken 10 mins took me forever and was in absolutely agonny by the time I got home.Never again will have to use car everywhere.Another thing to look forward too once baby`s out being able to walk properly again well hopefully.

hackneybird · 11/09/2009 12:19

Bella I can't believe you are 37 weeks and have to work another week. I will be 37 weeks when I finish - 2 weeks from today - and I am already counting the days.

I'm also finding it really hard walking anywhere. Unless I go at a snail's pace I get terrible pains in my bump, I think it's all the muscles contracting. Really unpleasant.

HappyTangerine · 11/09/2009 13:57

sammysam good luck with appointment and hope you win that pool

ruby-fingers crossed that the reflexology and moxibustion will work and you'll have a turned baby by this time next week!

Devils hope you have your delivery by now!

Bella can't believe you still have the energy to work, try and take it easy. I bet you're counting down the days. Glad I finished when I did-all that stopping on the M6 to be ill when I had awful morning sickness was a bit dangerous. I'm having to walk/bus/get lifts everywhere because driving has become so uncomfortable now. Its weird-by the time I finished this job I despised driving-had been driving 20,000 miles a year for the past 8 years, now I quite miss it.

LMB your tax disc must have been a shock! One of my most surreal experiences was v similar-was driving a company car and the company had forgotten to send the new tax disc through so it was 3 months out of date. Someone knocked the door to tell me the police were doing checks in the next street and to move the car sharpish. The surreal bit? The person who knocked to warned me was a traffic warden on the way to work the main road!

hackneybird-also finding walking difficult, I will be so glad to get my body back once the baby is out. People keep telling me how hard its going to be and that you never feel ready but just to have a bit of control over my body again will be something.

Concert last night was good but in interval after the support act, both my ankles had swelled up so badly I could barely take my shoes off. Prize included entry to the corporate bar all night so I was able to put my feet up on the sofa. I didn't realise that the main act would be performing for over 2 hrs-he might be my favourite singer but I just couldn't handle it in the end and left after the 15th song. Just a bit too much at this late stage. Got home and slept downstairs with feet elevated. Got up to go to the toilet and heard/felt a v definate pop from inside me-thought my waters had broken! They hadn't but still don't know what it was.

Have promosed DH I won't get up on ladders but urge to decorate is v strong. Soo-I repainted all the skirting and door frames in bathroom and kitchen this morning. Have done loads of washing and now about to get through series 1 of Mistresses while I iron the lot.

Enjoy the sun and have a great weekend everyone

princessmel · 11/09/2009 16:49

Haven't got energy to type a proper post right now but...

HT a pop is your waters going. That is EXACTLY what I felt and heard with dd and ds. PLEASE get it checked out. You don't have to have a gush when they break.

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 11/09/2009 19:03

Evening all!

HappyTangerine That is a very surreal story especially as it was a traffic warden maybe it was a karma thing...lol who knows. I got my tax sorted at the post office this morning and feel all legal again!

Took ds to a soft play today to meet another mum who is due in early November and her ds is a few months younger than my ds. it was lovely to have someone to complain about how rubbish we felt and ds had a whale of a time! Result!

The midwife came this morning to change my notes. Can't believe I will be considered term by Monday! DS2 could arrive anytime now. I'm starting to feel a little nervous about the labour part i have sort of blanked it out and just focused on the arrival of ds2. The M/w did say that labour would be faster and easier this time.... every cloud....!

Sammysam I hope you get your pool sorted asap! Do you have a back up plan if you go into labour in the next couple of days?

Looks like allot of us are on mad washing sprees.

HT I also have a very strong decorating urge. But the babies room is pretty much finished now. I just like to go and stand it. DP thinks i'm nuts.

nameynamerson · 11/09/2009 20:48

had a really crappy day today.

had my 36wk gp appt, she said i'm measuring 43 weeks. asked if i have growth scan booked (which i do for 38 wks). so that leaves a couple of weeks of sweating it about having a huge baby. anyone got any experience of this?

bloody dhl cocked up and sent my parcel back to mothercare before the 7 days they said i have to collect it. so i have no idea what to do now, if they just refund me or if i have to pay to have it sent again or whatever. then dh decided to have a go at me for wasting his time going to pick it up. what an absolute git! it's not like i'd ordered loads of fantastic things for me, just essential baby stuff.

he's just buggered off to the pub as well. grrr. i can't wait until i have a bit more freedom. only another year or so!

have also been washing and ironing a lot today. went out in the garden to hang out washing earlier and was out there for a few hours weeding for some unknown reason. nesty nesty.

right, sorry about the me me me post. hope everyone has a nice weekend x

(devilsadvocaat)

fidelma · 12/09/2009 07:42

devil keep adding your old name for a bit please. I hope you have a better day today.

I have had 2 huge sessions of false labour.Friday morning as I lay on my back (not very comfy) I had 40 mins of big labour pains but when I stood up nothing as I had lots of energy and felt that I could of had a good labour yesterday. We went out for early dinner to friends (home by 9) I went to bed feeling very uncomfortable and tight.I was woken up with contractions again and again.I felt like shit, sick and shakey.Eventually I sat up as I honestly was terrified of having to labour as I felt so bad.The contraction eased and if I stayed lying on my right side they weren't too bad.I drifted off to sleep. Not much going on but I do have a very very tight tummy. Also not great energy so I think I will need to take it easy today.

I saw the MW yesterday who was fantastic. She is booking me in for a growth scan not because I am measuring huge just that I look and feel huge and she said that because my last one was 10 lb she really would recommend that I am induced no later than term. (also my grandma had 2 still births at term and my mum lost twins all along time ago and the twins were prem and there only was one incubator anyway. But MW said that I did not need that stress as I go over my dates.)So the consultant will need to agree but hopefully an induction no later than term.I would rather avoid an induction but trust me I don't want to give birth to a baby bigger than 10lb.My slight prolapse may completly give way.10lb is enough for anyone to push out.I will keep you all posted.I will be term 3 weeks on Tuesday.3 weeks feels managble.

Boob good luck for tomorrow I will be thinking of you.oh to be able to breath normally and hug that baby.

I haven't ready yesterdays posts so off to catch up.

fidelma · 12/09/2009 07:49

fidelma · 12/09/2009 17:29

DS has a dry cough, runny nose, aches all over his body, bad head and a temp. SHIT !!!!!! Could be bloody swine flu. However he is not too poorly when on calpol.DH just gone out to get nurofen so we can rotate them.Slightly terrified that I will catch it.Lots of rest need by all. Any advice or comments?

rubyslippers · 12/09/2009 17:52

just a quick post - GOOD LUCK THEBOOB!!!!

really, really excited for you - you will be holding your baby tomorrow

been out all day, so kanckered ... will catch up later

BREECH WATCH - baby still breech grrrr

xx

HappyTangerine · 12/09/2009 18:03

Just logging on briefly to wish theboob good luck for tomorrow, am so excited for you!

princessmel-thanks, checked with midwife and it wasn't my waters . She said that babies can sometimes get themselves stuck in odd positions and this may have been him pulling himself up.

namey/devils-what a nightmare for you, bloody dhl. Ring Mothercare and explain, hopefully they can give dhl a rollicking and you won't have to pay again. Hope you've had a better day.

LittleMissBliss-yay for your last day at work!

fidelma-sorry to hear your DS is ill, as I understand it its the temp thats the big marker for swine flu so it could be that or a cold? Give your gp a ring maybe. I can't remember how old your ds is but a friend managed to avoid cathcing it from her dd by being absolutely vigilant about hygeine-washing hands after each cuddle etc.

Lots of Braxton Hicks here and period type pains that have been getting stronger all day. Feels odd to be getting them again after so long. Baby wriggling away. Been out shopping for car seat and a few bits and am shattered-oh to be able to walk again as opposed to waddling!

HappyTangerine · 12/09/2009 18:06

princessmel-meant to say it was the baby pulling himself out of weird position, don't know where "up" came from!

Come on babyRuby-turn!

theboob · 12/09/2009 19:14

thankyou everyone for all the good luck's
I am very very nervous and excited , I will ask my DH to post for me if I cant from hospital ......somebody must be ready to go into labour soon, I'll be on the postnatal thread on my own

I'm really going to have a bloody baby!!!!!!!!

CalypsoFlame · 12/09/2009 20:24

the boob will be thinking of you! Looking forward to the first thread baby photo too big kiss X

ruby still thinking lots of positive strong turning thoughts for your baby!

HT & fidelma that was nearly an exciting is-it-birthing-moment - but won't be long now Sorry to hear that your DS is ill though fidelma

Bella I completely empathise with your work scenario - I'm 37+4 and have three work days left up until I'm 38 weeks - COMPLETELY unmotivated but have so much to do! Literally counting down the hours. Baby better not come too early, would love to have a break

I hope that some of you are not DIYing this weekend and enjoying the nice weather - skirting boards won over the Thames Festival today, shame on me...

nameynamerson · 12/09/2009 20:36

oooooh THEBOOB! it's really happening

good luck, can't wait for updates!

went to mothercare with me mam today and got all my bits so that put my mind at rest. have complained to mcare so hopefully they'll refund soon. dh took ds out to soft play and swimming and then i was out shopping after that. also he just went to the shop because i said i fancied some dark choc
