Afternoon,

I can't find a due in Feb thread, but I suppose it's very early still!

Got my BFP on tuesday, with a due date of Feb 3. It's still not quite sunk in - I've had to take another three tests since then just to check

I'm spending far too much time already planning for this baby when I should be working, please tell me I'm not the only one who is completely obsessed. And that I will calm down eventually!

Anyway, would love to chat with some other newly upduffed types.

chinook.. congratulations and welcome..

Hope everyone is well.. I am just praying for some rain to clear the air here..
Went to an Anne Summers party last night which was a good laugh then we all went out.. ended up in a club but had to call it a night by 0215 as was knackered. I was also really self concious whilst dancing too!!.. normally i would just hit the dance floor , amzing what alcohol does for you.. But it wass good people watching.lol.

Off to the cinema tonight with DD to whatch Angels and Demons, looking forward to it.. am also going to check when they are getting harry Potter as we get them a little after the UK release dates.

Still getting the odd twinge in my lower abdomen pains have moved up from the pelvic region.. Got another week till see the mw.

CaractacusPotty · 05/07/2009 20:12

Evening.
Welcome Chinook. Crumbs 7 months!! Hope it's better for you this time.

Scooby - I lost weight with both pg in the first trimester - MS. I tend to put it all back on with super-reinforcements within a frighteningly short time of the MS easing though

twoplusone - ooh, sober clubbing, rather you than me! Am awestruck at your ability to stay up until 2.15am!!! Can't wait for HP to open. My CM gave us a token for the nearest cinema which came with and evening's CM for our Christmas, and we've been holding on to it waiting for HP to be released

Good luck to everyone having scans next week.
It's supposed to be a bit cooler too next week, thank goodness!

Well we did the insane hillwalk yesterday, and it was... insane. It was incredibly hot, and my MS, well lets just say I'm lucky I didn't chunder my way around! But we did it in 7 hours, which is a full hour less than the allowed amount of time and my friend was 47th and I was 49th out of 101 who finished (3 retired). So very pleased. Would love to do it next year but probably won't be able to - I'm not sure that bfeeding and hill races go well together

flyingcloud · 05/07/2009 20:25

Hello everyone, hope you are all well. Welcome Chinook and others.

Caractus - I am very impressed by your walking, well done you.

I am starting to feel really fat, I have such a big tummy now (sorry if I bang on about this, if I mention it to DH he'll only, rightly, point out all the crap I've been eating and make me take responsibility for it). I don't know how much longer I can keep it a secret for from work colleagues, although as others have said (here and elsewhere I think) people don't really notice as much as you think.

Tomorrow is Monday, one week closer! How many weeks will everyone be this week? Am now 9+2...

preggybear · 05/07/2009 20:59

I finally got to the cinema today after 2 weeks! Have been to tired, I had to have a 2 hour nap befor going! Had to go to the loo half way through and I never normally have to do that !!! lol.

twoplusone · 05/07/2009 22:17

Caractus- well done on your walk ..xx Thats fab..

Angels and Demons was fantastic.. in my opinion anyway... thoroughly enjoyed it.

Flyingcloud I am 8+2 today.

motherof2boys · 06/07/2009 09:42

And I've spoken to some people who never felt ms at all! (and they worried and worried...).

My scan appt has come through for EXACTLY the same time I have consultant appt. But can't change it forward at all as fully booked and obviously consultant will want to see scan so they have advised me to 'turn up early' for scan - but given they have no availability for next 2 weeks I guess there might be a queue??? I hate stuff like that - love to be on time and organised. And it's in school hols and absolutely want DH to see scan (last scan was when we found out DS3 had died). So now trying to find someone to mind the DSs.

Rant rant rant. Weekends have been worst for ms so far but yesterday we got ourselves out for walk in afternoon and made myself watch DVD in evening even though I thought it would be good to curl up and die. Desparately trying not to wish time away.

lol @ 9+4.

geekfreak · 06/07/2009 11:38

I'm literally dying of tiredness. Anyone feeling the same? Please tell me I'm not alone...

MS subsiding into "just not fancying food". There are some notable exceptions, like potatoes, cheese and fruit, but meat, fish and most vegetables are off the menu. Oh god, I've become a choosetarian!

Hello newbies and welcome! Hope everyone is doing OK.

lol @ 7+6

motherof2boys · 06/07/2009 11:54

applesaretheonlyfruit - thinking of you today and hoping the scan goes well

motherof2boys · 06/07/2009 11:56

geekfreak - in previous pgs I have died of tiredness but actually not in this one (yet); in previous pgs I have also eaten cheese for every meal but actually not in this one!

Pops78 · 06/07/2009 14:31

Hi All, I am with you on the MS gloom front. I'm sure that I am being pathetic but this is torture. I am completely knackered, have headache and feel like I am on a boat the whole time going up and down. Cannot touch food and really scared am harming baby. I had such visions of eating healthy when pg but not eating at all....

Moan over... I am now 8+3, exactly same as twoplusone just noticed

BTW on a positive note my cousin said only baby she lost out of 4 pg's she had no ms so it is reassuring...

CaractacusPotty · 06/07/2009 14:40

Good luck with the scan today, apples

I'm only 6+6, so a looong way to go with the MS yet.

Pops, I'm sure you're not harming the baby. Your body will use up whatever stores of energy and nutrients you have in your body and give it to the baby.

motherof2 - hope you find chidlcare and that the appts somehow work out.

dsis is popping round this afternoon, so will probably tell her. Still haven't told parents or ILs. Not sure why I'm finding it so hard to tell people...

Doctorskidaddle · 06/07/2009 14:55

hi everyone,

Back from a week oop north and OMG my MS is horrendous! Way WAY worse that with DD or DS. I feel lie I can;t eat anything but eating is the only thing that makes me feel better. LOL at choosetarian geekfreak - I am the same - luckily for me it seems to be raw vegetables and not much else (although the odd chocolate has sneaked its way int oo...)

devotion - I am so with you on the small boobs that don't get bigger when pg. All these other women with the DD cups who swell to G when pg and here's me with barely a B cup and no movments at all! This is my 3rd pg so if I ever have another I hope to follow in your footsteps!

Pops78 - I have also heard form a lot of women that they didn;t feel pg before a MC compared to other pg. However, I didn't reall feel pg with DS and I don't want people without MS (mawbroon) to start worrying - appreciate while it lasts!

congrats and welcome to all newbies

scoobyd00 · 06/07/2009 17:29

I had my 2nd scan today and all is going well. We saw the heartbeat and the little bean is growing accordingly. I now have to book in with the MW and organise my 12w scan. It's going to be a bit difficult as I'll be moving in Sep, but hopefully it will all work out.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's gone off food.

I'm 7w today.

TheOldestCat · 06/07/2009 20:24

Hey scooyd00 - I'm 7 weeks today too. Glad to hear the scan went well.

chinook · 06/07/2009 20:39

Hello everyone and thank you for your warm welcome.

Alongside my usual preg symptoms of tiredness, ms and over sensitive sense of smell, I have noticed another and was wondering wether anyone else was suffering. Sorry it is not pleasant, but I seem to have 'mucous' constantly running down the back of my nose into my throat. I believe it is a common preg thing caused by inflammation of nasal passages but what on earth can I do to stem the tide? It really isn't nice when feeling sick already.

Help. Please!

motherof2boys · 06/07/2009 20:50

oh I have that - I thought it was remnant of horrid cold bug. Is it pg related then?

It makes me gag. A lot. I find it better if I try to blow my nose before it runs down. But that isn't really a solution. I'm watching this space too...

Doctorskidaddle · 06/07/2009 21:04

chinook and motherof2boys - never heard of that but I suppose it goes with increased mucous in other areas (ahem)! Sorry no advice except maybe drink lots of water?

scooby - good news your scan went well . I have my dating scan on 15th August I think. I'm not having the nuchal fold one - is anyone else?

motherof2boys · 07/07/2009 08:03

at my hospital they do nuchal fold measurement as a matter of course during first scan and then an integrated blood test at same time as first scan (12 weeks and then at 15-16 weeks). You can opt out of the blood test (presumably one can opt out of all the scans and tests etc) and a couple of friends of mine have decided to do that as they say it would not change their decisions on the pregnancy. A male midwife once said to me that I shouldn't do the tests if I didn't know how to handle the information. It's an interesting point.

Does anyone feel that sometimes they can test for testing's sake?

But maybe your hospital doesn't offer it? I have heard of that - my SIL paid privately for one.

lol to all today.

geekfreak · 07/07/2009 09:58

My hospital does nuchal fold at the 13 week scan as well. Doctor I'm sure you can get it privately if your hospital doesn't do it routinely, but I've always been dubious as to the value as 0.1mm either way can make a massive difference to the risk and it all depends on whether the baby cooperates on the day of the scan.

Chinook, the increased nasal secretions thing is a side effect of pregnancy - it might be worth talking to your GP about it as a sodium cromoglicate nose spray can help and is safe in pg.

applesaretheonlyfruit · 07/07/2009 10:49

Hi everyone,

I had my scan yesterday and they saw a heartbeat! This is good. But then she said that, date wise, my bean was small and I have to go back for another scan next Tuesday to check it is growing.

When I said that after seeing a heartbeat most people will think everything will be okay, she said that, actually, it can disappear due to all sorts of problems...(bit of a downer, this lady).

Anyway, I was supposed to be 7w1d yesterday and my bean was only 3.8mm (although it would be easy to be 0.1 or 0.2mm out, wouldn't it?). I have looked at a million pregnancy calendars and some say that, at this stage, the bean should be between 4mm and 6mm. I just don't know.

Also, aren't some people dated back by the scan results, only to be redated forward again when the bean has a growth spurt? She said that, date wise, I am a week earlier, but as swimmers can only hang around, max, for 72 hours, this would be impossible.

So, I'm sort of pleased, but now have to wait another week for the next scan... and she said don't bother telling your GP yet.

geekfreak · 07/07/2009 11:37

Apples, hope you're OK? Doesn't sound like your scan lady was very nice - aren't they supposed to be a bit more reassuring than that?

But the good things are that there was a heartbeat and the size is more or less on track (give or take 0.2mm). I'm not sure how things work with sizes at this stage - but as two of my friends have had babies in the last week that are 6lb 13oz and 11lb 12oz (both full term), I'm inclined to think there is a range.

I know it's hard, but please try and take some comfort from the positives and keep cooking that bean in preparation for next week's scan.

Take care x

twoplusone · 07/07/2009 11:40

Are the swimmers really only about for 72hrs! i thought they lived for nearly week..!!.
Fingrers crossed for you apples but must say that radiographer didnt sound to nice. I would tell your doctors, and would also think about putting a complaint in .

Re the nuchal fold , I have always told them not to do it at the 12 week scans have always had the blood test though. My DH doesnt want mye to get it done this time either.. but I have said I want it done but it will not change the outcome, it will just helpus prepare .

Really hoping that when I see the MW next week she will give me my date for the scan.. she did say she would and that it would probably be the following week.. i just want to see my baby, so that I know all this real..,and that everything looks ok. TBH it is all i can think about.

becks130 · 07/07/2009 11:46

apples Good news that you saw a heartbeat, I would see that as a positive and fingers crossed for next week. I have been trying to find out what the size is meant to be at certain weeks but not had any luck, my bean measured 2.1mm at 5w2d.

I had a fall at the weekend and was in a lot of pain (in lower pevic area) and my symtoms eased a lot. I went to the EPU yesterday and they were awful, they didn't even examine me! he told me that MC is very common and it is life and you have to deal with it, not what I want to hear after I mc only 10 weeks ago They can't scan me as they are booked up so I have to wait til next Friday. My sympoms have now returned and I am feeling awful again, I never thought I would wish for ms so much

flyingcloud · 07/07/2009 12:07

Apples - fingers crossed for you. Heartbeat is good and you are right to look for the positive.

Becks - poor you, hope you are ok? What an awful thing to be told. Fingers crossed for you too. Symptoms are horrible but reassuring.

I have three weeks until my scan - 27th July, when, according to the date they gave me at my early scan, I will be 12+3 and then I see the consultant a week later. I am itching to get it out in the open and to give it time to sink in with my boss and colleagues. He will be outwardly happy but not so inwardly. I know he (and other colleagues) will be thinking that I've just had an amazing promotion and now I'm up the duff that clearly there may have been someone more dependable to promote. I love my job and I have waited a long time for a promotion like this so I can kind of see their point of view, but all that is overshadowed by the hugely exciting fact that I'm pg.

Lots to fill up the time though - moaning about ms being the most frequent activity. Busy work week, followed by a wedding in two weeks, followed by a visit from my mum.

cupcakefairy · 07/07/2009 12:11
