good luck grumpy for iol will keep fingers crossed it only takes one lot of prostin to get things going.. xoxox

had to top g up with formula last night she'd been feeding solidly since 8pm and I was shattered. the bonus after was she then slept for just over 5hrs did next feed lying down in bed so I could rest a bit but woke up an hour later. swaddled g up and popped her into her crib and for a change she didn't stir ds woke late at 8am.. so dh and I feel almost human this morning.. wow

I've even managed a bath just before feeding g.. ah she's just filled her nappy.. back in a bit.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/06/2009 09:37

Oh dear.

I have shouted at DD1 today and she has gone to school without a hug, so I am now sitting here crying because I won't see her until tomorrow.

I only managed 3 hours sleep last night, so I am a bit tired but that's no excuse.

And I've started bricking it about induction (even though I've had one before), possibly because 'well-meaning' relatives keep ringing and texting (ooh are you nervous about today, ooh it'll hurt, make sure you ring as soon as you've had the baby, can we come up tomorrow) and I wish they'd piss off. [grumpy old mare]

And I'm feeling guilty about my mum.

And I'm still gutted that I'm not getting a HB.

Thank goodness for all of you with supportive tales of sockulesque anal retentiveness and custard

I wonder how runningmonkey is getting on?

I had PND with DD1 but didn't realise until some time after, by which point it was quite chronic. When I saw the signs with DD2 (helped by DH, he was angelic and kept an eye on me), I got help straight away. It's awful.

Oh dear. DH has just found a box of Just Brazils we had bought for his Nana's birthday a few weeks ago. We've both had 4 each already

I've cheered up, just writing this.

All the best GRUMPY! And enjoy those chocolate brazils - they're good for you

Belgianchocolates · 03/06/2009 10:18

grumpy Good luck, hope the IOL goes quickly and easily and that you are holding your baby tonight. Switch your phone off or send a message to everyone telling them to stop texting and that you'll text them when lo has arived!

I've got an even more sockulesque (love the word grumpy!) confession. I do my ironing in size order too!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/06/2009 10:33

Thanks everyone and yes, the Just Brazils are good for me - we should all be eating 3 brazil nuts a day, apparently.

We're off to buy a camera now, we've just realised we don't have one, DH lent it to someone and can't remember who .

He's just spent 1.5 hours tidying. He really, really enjoyed it. He's strange. I think he's trying not to think about this afternoon too much.

And Frazz I have packed my favourite Urban Decay green eyeshadow and eyeliner (I have no style), they always make me feel fabulous dahling. That reminds me, I do have an Urban Decay shadow/liner set somewhere called 'Mullet' would you believe! I may have to dig that out!!

Belgian What is this 'ironing' of which you speak?

OP posts:
Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/06/2009 10:51

And Fi glad to hear you've had some sleep - I remember that getting a 4/5 hour stretch was like having 11 hours. DD1 slept through for 6 hours at about 6 weeks old. God, I felt wonderful! DD2 first slept through for 6 hours at about 3.5 years old, but she is the Evil Eefel Bear

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 03/06/2009 11:50

congrats reebee love the name Felix so cute

good luck grumpy

Belgianchocolates · 03/06/2009 13:58

grumpy good luck. I hope you're being induced at this very moment. I would explain the art of ironing to you, but you must be occupied with something far more exiting at the moment

pulapula · 03/06/2009 14:01

I don't iron myself, but my mum did some for me yesterday as she enjoys it!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/06/2009 14:38

Not being induced yet, I have to ring at 3pm. Strange time! God I hope they can fit me in for induction and it works quickly..........

I just went down to DD1's school and said goodbye to her and got my hug. I cried in front of her class, she was so embarrassed but amused . All her friends were shouting 'Good Luck Izzy', it was lovely.

Oh and DH's mum irons pants and socks.

pulapula · 03/06/2009 14:56

good luck grumpy. inductions in sheffield seem to be around 5pm which for a couple of friends meant their DHs got sent home at 9pm to be summoned back in the early hours.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/06/2009 15:12

Yep Pula, going in at 4pm, so would guess DH will come home around 10ish, only to have to return at some ungodly hour.

Right. Got my book, magazines, knitting and the DS. Should keep me occupied.

See you on the other side (I hope) ladies!!!!

Far too late for me to say Good luck Grumpy but I'm thinking of you. Anyway, with the way this thread is going, she'll have given birth by 5pm and get the 11pm 6hour discharge, and posting at midnight. She can but hope!

Lazzer · 03/06/2009 21:01

Hello all

FINALLY got round to checking in. Been so frazzled until now.

Baby boy Alex Tennessee born on 23rd May at 5.52pm, 7lbs 8 oz.

He's doing pretty well. Have had terrible baby blues and been bit of a wreck. Think a lot of it due to a v painful 3 day labour (won't go into it, but it was grim - luckily it didn't lead to a cs like they were expecting)

Also community midwife didn't arrive for first visit until 10 days after baby was born, despite me ringing twice to complain. When she did finally come she helped a lot.

Anyway, feeling more normal now and bonding with Alex much better. Also nipples becomig less sore. And Alex has put on 4 lbs.

Just need some more sleep!!!

Hope everyone doing well, will catch up properly soon.

xx

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 03/06/2009 21:25

congratulations lazzer on the birth of baby Alex

LoobyLou36 · 03/06/2009 21:38

congrats lazzer and reebee

Matilda slept for 6hrs last night - from 10.15 to 4.15! yay!
Hope she does it again tonight.
She's still very fretfull for about 3hrs a night 5-8ish I assume this is colic.
Her bellybutton has swelled up tho the HV who came today thought it might be a hernia?? Said it was quite common amongst young babies? Said to mention it to the doc at 6wk check next week.

M now weighs 9lb 4 (she's put on 5ounces this week) and is now on the 50th centile so that's good news.

Momino · 03/06/2009 22:15

Lazzer, congratulations! sorry it's been a bit tough but glad to hear that things are going well and MW is helpful. I love the name especially the middle part. Hope you get some sleep.

speaking of sleep, i'm going off to bed. I'm supposed to wake Harper up to feed but i'm so tired...

Jennster · 04/06/2009 09:08

Lazzer Congratulations. Lovely news.
