Have any of you or are any of you planning to decline the Guthrie test?

Greer will be due to get hers over the weekend and we think we're going to decline it. All of the other DCs had it done and they all came back fine but when DD1 was really sick and had to have all her (very invasive!) tests done for all of these conditions that the Guthrie test had cleared her for, the consultant told us that the Guthrie test only picks up a small number of CF and PKU cases. I just don't want to put her through that when a) her siblings were all cleared and b) if she did get sick like Erica did, she'd need all these invasive tests at that juncture.

ALready had the test blotted- i assume you mean the heal prick test? Didnt bother DS as he was feeding and had it with other DCs too.

looby I hope you're enjoying the m & b group. i know you'll be long gone but re formula when out.. as soon as you add the formula milk to the water and warm it you should use it within an hour.. or it breeds bacteria. so if you are needing to do a feed outside it's best to take your powdered formula already measured out in a clean dry container and your sterilized bottle of water separately. when you need to do a feed you then add the formula to the water, shake and warm and off you go. the water remains sterile on its own for 24hrs.

I'd forgotten about the heel prick test.. ds had it and wasn't bothered so will prob do it again with lo.
