New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
idreamofbeanie · 07/05/2009 11:45

Sorry Kayz - that sounded very negative . I love the toddler stage but I know how much they test your patience sometimes even when you are just looking after them for a few hours so I imagine it's hard work when DS1 is having a a couple of naughty days. I hope he isn't driving you crazy today.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 07/05/2009 12:00

Finally had scan and just doing a sneaky post from day unit.

It seems to be footling breech and almost oblique and they've estimated weight as 9lb 5oz!!

Waiting to discuss options...

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 12:07

Oh Ses!!!! I hope you get some good options!!

IDOB, DS1 seems to be ok today. I've just put DS2 up to bed so I am hoping it means DS1 can muck around for a while and burn off some energy. I was going to take him for a walk but it keeps raining then stopping and then raining again.

I'm trying to pick christening invitations but can't seem to choose, will have to ask DH's opinion.

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 12:21

Kayz, hopefully you'll find the solution. We have been extremely lucky in not having to deal with jealousy etc. the only thing we have to watch for is DS2 giving Mikey a hug, when I say hug, I actually mean a supersqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze, as we say in this house!

IDOB, exciting about the scan and the house, you sound a lot happier SALT is speech and language therepy, oh happy days..... !

Ses, also hoping they can come up with some good options. I had a sneaky feeling the scan would show the baby is breech, it was the way you described the feelings so low down, I only ever had those type of feelings when DS3 went breech. If you don't mind me saying, don't agree to any course of action as such today, it's a big thing, come home, let yourself think on the options they give, and give yourself the time to work through it in your own mind. Baby sounds a good size

2 hours to go until she get's here, am dreading it, not sure I am in the right mood to be overly polite to a condesending patronising knowitall today!

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 12:45

Nat, My friend's DD was 2 in Feb and she doesn't talk anywhere near as much as DS1. Her HV said that they only worry after they are 3. So maybe they will let you off with SALT for now.

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 12:47

Nah, he's for the chop if he doesn't come up to their "standards". This is the third time now, I've managed to put them off before.

She rang, she's on her way. Now.

sorkycakey · 07/05/2009 12:47

We're potty training today so far so good.
Good luck Ses

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 12:49

Shame you can't get him to nap or tell them that he is just shy!!

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 07/05/2009 13:42

Ok... Wasn't given any options and have been admitted. They did explain why though and are being v nice so far! Because baby is diagonally oblique breech, if my waters break it means there's a risk of the cord dropping through and pulling or strangling the baby.
They're quite happy with me and with baby regards everything except position!
They're planning a CS for either tomorrow or Sat. Should see dr this afternoon.
I know I should take advantage of the rest whilst I can but I'm bored though!!!

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 13:44

Oh my goodness! How are you feeling?

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 07/05/2009 13:53

A bit in shock!!
Had been persauding myself I'd be hanging on til about 20th!! Also was all geared up for natural birth but I know there's no option and this is what's best for me and the baby.
But hey, I could finally be a mum this time tomorrow (or certainly within 48hrs!)

idreamofbeanie · 07/05/2009 14:04

Wow Ses - I guess that's come as a bit of a shock but how exciting. Just think, you will be meeting your baby in the next 48hrs .

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 14:11

Looks like you'll be using that nursery sooner than you thought then!

Please tell me you got round to doing the babies bag?!!

Moosy · 07/05/2009 14:12

Wow Ses, what a shocker! You sound very calm about it all though, let us know what happens [excited]

Was wondering who had what on the syndicate!!

Don't worry, all bags finished being packed this morning!!

Am trying to stay calm as anything else won't really help! DH is here playing games on his phone and keeping me company!

Diege · 07/05/2009 14:25

OMG SES!!!!! Just back in and felt you would have posted. Scary and exciting all at once! Please try and keep us updated; as you say, you're in the right place and all will be well xxx Just think, you'll be able to make the meet-up now
NAT, I feel your pain about nursery nurse visit - gets me extremely cross all this checking and charting business - try to avoid it as much as possible but were on the books for a few months with dd3's (lack of) speech (of course she is fine now..why the rush when you have 2 big sisters to talk for you!)and the usual hearing panics with their rubbish screening tests years ago. It's the having to tidy/get dressed etc before hand that I hate too with home visits!
Not quite a lady of leisure yet - 2 weeks or so of working from home marking, which is so much better than going in, and then a day in Cardiff on 18th for meeting. That's if I get that far! Bump has def dropped, but then if I'm honest I don't have that water melon feeling of engagement, so just think it's v.low down. Poor dh is panicking that it'll come early, but not so much that he'll put his hand in his wallet and get the last few bits we need!
Going for a quick lie down before school run - work colleague just left and we had a huge lunch so fit to burst.
Thinking of you SES - can't wait to hear how things go over the next 48 hours!!!

Diege · 07/05/2009 14:26

Oh and the syndicate hadn't slipped my mind . Bet ya it's a boy too

tinkishappy · 07/05/2009 14:34

nat - porr dh going here thereand everywhere
i am sure u will manage tonite it is horrid having to deal with all kids by yourself. i usually bath bracken them he gets in 6:5pm and does atlanta.
regarding teeth looks like bracken has one bottom left looking @ her next to where middle ones would be so not middle either have odd children

kay - sorry that ds1 is being awful it is horrid when they play up so stressful. sounds like hv was very helpful not!!

idofb - oh yes always room for other things plus shopping
glad you are feeling well. good luck with move.
definetly worth doing baby room with lovely stuff

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 14:41

Ses, you are bound to feel nervous, don't keep it in, it just makes it worse. I bet DH is feeling exactly the same! LOL at you making the meet up

Diege, he is on the books, well, I managed to get her to agree that she won't put him straight on, but she's arranging a "speech assesment"

Weaning info consisted of her muttering a few points and then following up with "but you'll already know all of this", handing me a doidy cup doings thing (WTF is that about? Not sure I could drink out of one of those bloody things!) she didn't even give me the proper weaning book thingy because I've still got George's, oh and (and this is where I get really grrrrrrrrrrrr) she told DS2 off She gave him a board picture book to see what words he could use to describe the pictures (cars, cats, balls etc.) then when he wouldn't do it without him holding the book she came out with, and very sternly, "No George, that is my book" and whipped it away into her bag, he only wanted to hold the damn thing. Oh and then, (I'm on a roll now!) at the end she said "Last time I saw you, you'd just got out of hospital, how are you feeling now dear? It's hard work having three isn't it" looking at me through slanty eyes wondering how many OD's I'd taken and how many times I tried to slit my wrists no doubt, as if we all turn into incapable messes as soon as a baby is wafted under our noses. Twunty bitch. Hope her cuppa gives her horrible heartburn all day! LOL

NatalieJane · 07/05/2009 14:47

Hiya Tink

Have escaped a little of tonight's fiasco, I forgot DS1 is going to a friend's house after school, feel really bad for being pleased about it, but TBH, it will help the situation along!

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 14:53

Ses!!!! Oh my!!! Just think you will have your baby soon!!! I am sorry you can't have your natural birth! I'm VV excited for you!!

Nat, Sorry nurse was a PITA!!!!

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 15:10

Would love you ideas please??

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 15:31

Oh I forgot to tell you about my trip to baby group!!

HV wants me to go to these course/group things. 1 for parents of 2-3yo on Wednesday 9-12 then to a post-natal one on Wednesday 1-3. So I said no, not interested. She asked me to just go to one meeting of one of them so I choose the post-natal one.

So I went yesterday, plonked DS1 in the creche bit and went in. We were all asked to tell our birth stories and I got a lot of "Oh my god", "why didn't you ask for a CS?" and faces like this >.
Afterwards we were just sat talking and 2 ladies said that they thought I was making my birth story up as it is impossible to naturally give birth to a baby DS2's size. When I said that it was true they just ignored me and then went on to say "that they think large babies look like they have downs syndrome". I lost my temper a little bit and stomped out!!

HV has just rung to ask how I was as she was told what had happened!

idreamofbeanie · 07/05/2009 15:49

Kay that's terrible ! What stupid stupid women. What did your HV say about it? I assume she won't pester you to go to anymore.

PS I think the photos of DS2 are gorgeous, not that you need me to tell you how lovely he is.

Kayzr · 07/05/2009 15:53

The 2 ladies have been told not to return. HV was very sorry about it.
